I think, like someone posted above, just like the Bandit Events, the ‘mad dash’ will slow down with time.

Also, don’t forget, the other two maps the NPC showed us will likely have events with which to collect these items, soon, as well. (If you speak to the NPCs there, they state they are only waiting on more devices to be created and delivered.)

Thus, more spreading out of the population doing the events. I feel we will have around 6 weeks to work on this, if not more. (Season 3 isn’t expected to drop until mid-July, or so…if that soon.)

Just waiting is a poor excuse for an obvious oversight. Especially if Mo wants to get back to the core of what made GW2 good. This is the exact opposite way to go about that.

Isn’t that the entire point of the co-operative group structure PvE was supposed to have…..

The hypocrisy of “Not enough diversity”, then going to say but “there’s not even a metabattle guide section”. Pick one ?

The game has problems sure, diversity is one of them. However, what i think most people find the more annoying facet to be is cadence. Season 2 spoiled us greatly in the fact that we had very frequent releases, fixes and changes. Now, we’re doing the new MMO-hype of Quarterly updates. This is likely what’s driving people away, just as it does when people have to wait for expansions.

Sure the systemic issues still reside, but ultimately once those are fixed people will return. See again, the waiting game is whats actually killing the game. The longer issues sit on the table, in development, indefinitely suspended etc… the worse shape the game begins to take on the communities within it.

I miss the good old time when one of the selling points of this game was “play the way you like”.

Now it’s more and more “play the way Arenanet want”.

Nothing stopping you from playing your way, they’re just telling you in advance…you’re gonna fail.

But please continue blaming Anet for things that are the players fault. 269 days it’s been known masteries would be tied to raids and additionally you’ve had 214 days of being able to get said masteries. 189 days of knowing that HoT masteries were used in raids.

Time to stop blaming anet.

Exactly, I have a level 50 I keep in LA near the Crafting Stations to open bags/salvage gear for Linen, Cotton and Wool.

and yet this doesn’t scream systemic issue to you ?

The sheer fact that you have to exploit how material acquisition works should ring an alarm bell that there is a problem.

No, this whispers a reminder: the TP makes it possible to avoid farming the entire shopping list of things you want, by selling off all the stuff you don’t.

This isn’t ‘exploiting how material acquisition works’ — it’s about adapting to the game’s actual mechanics, rather than how it works in other games.

I’m sorry but opening containers on other characters that are lower level specifically to get around the changes made to loot rewards, so that you can salvage for material seems like a pretty much like exploiting the games mechanics. You can call it ‘adapting’ if that makes you feel better, but it does not change the fact that the solution to a problem is this asinine method instead of reverting the changes they made to loot to begin with or just increasing the rate of acquisition for said materials across the board.

More news at 11.

Just because there’s a conservative mindset regarding raiding in MMO shouldn’t define the genre. Otherwise we still would be stuck with WoW Clones rather than MMOs who try to change it up.

In other words, it’s not people who don’t know, it’s just people who prefer other things than you. Then again such news is usually propaganda.

End game …. It speaks for itself, so i fail to see said propaganda especially when the following is taken verbatim from the original raid blogpost

Raids will also tie into our new, advanced Mastery system of progression. We’ll be introducing new Mastery tracks and abilities that will be closely tied to progressing though raids, which our designers will be talking about in an upcoming blog.

You’ve had 268 days of knowledge that they would be required and 213 days to act on said knowledge. I think its past the time to be blaming Anet for their design when clearly this is a case of player not playing.

I know this topic is marked for deletion, but…..Riot Games.

Not only do they have 100x more player to dev interaction, they have weekly livestreams to chat directly with QA/Playtest and pick their brains. They have a monthly Q&A with the Lead of Game Design, Ghostcrawler and pretty much every patch note has a reason listed. Not only that….Public beta of all upcoming changes, so players who care can provide feedback before something bad goes live.

There’s nothing special about the Mordremoth fight. One tip that I will add is to make sure you’re on the NE part of the map when he does his roar to signal the glider phase. This will set you up to be able to fly up to the tree branch.

If the breakbar bugs for him at the end, and the channeling the rift doesn’t break it, you all will have to break the bar yourselves. Be prepared for this.

You forgot the hoard phase now has unblockable damage. You’ll need to dodge the red circle as it expands out, and if you’re doing this with others you’ll need to spread out.

It’s season 1 all over again.

Hated season 1 for a reason, still hate this.
Give us a proper story and instanced content, not this fluff.

If you have a desire to change the world again, one can easily do that through living world without this piecemeal garbage.

I did not care for LS Season Two very much at all. The instances were do-once-never return. Season One was much more enjoyable, especially the release cadence. Having something to look forward to every other week was great!

Do keep up the great work, ArenaNet! =)

Season two also had a two week release cadence….and it’s odd that you say the repeatable instance content was do once and never again, when you actually get rewarded for doing it again on other characters. Something that was virtually impossible to do in season one unless you had inordinate amounts of free time or just found stuffing your pockets with junk items fun.

Well, of course, that’s my personal experience. Some like instances, others prefer the Open World approach. As for being ‘virtually impossible’ to replay and Season One events, I, personally, did Tower of Nightmare, Scarlet Invasions, Battle for LA, etc. many, many times. If others were only able to do it once in the time allotted (2 – 4 weeks), I send my condolences.

See you’re cherry picking the giant open world events and saying they were awesome. Sure they were good, what im referring to is largely the boring ramp up events, akin to what we have now. The go fetch lost goods shenanigans, escort the now homeless norn/char etc. This kind of ramp up to me is just flat out boring and loses its appeal after the first time done.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

TexZero.7910

You could start by working on the baseline economic problems that cause people to auto farm. That’d be nice. So it likely wont happen.

That’s just absurd. The “baseline economic problem” is that people want money. Period. You can’t fix that.

Or maybe just maybe there are people farming the materials there whose rate of acquisition are substandard compared to their usage. You know like leather/linen.

But you’re right it’s absurd that we have nice things.

What you’re suggesting won’t fix it. It’ll just migrate it to a new area. For instance, if they “fixed” the linen thing so it’d end up only being 50 copper a piece, the AFK farmers will just migrate somewhere else, such as gaining cotton, then we’re back to square one.

They’ll AFK farm for the highest priced item they can possibly get. They don’t care if it’s linen, gossamer or pink inflatable moas.

And why are they farming… ?

Fix the source of the problem and it will cease to exist.

Why exactly are players forced to “Farm” for drops when we have a lovely map event reward that could be tweaked into giving more. This will get people into the game playing the events to get loot. I know that’s like some foreign concept…especially here. Heaven forbid people are rewarded for the actions they take in game.

You really don’t think Anet has justification for dumbing down the game when people can’t even handle dodging?

The playerbase can blame itself for this as much as a lack of dev resources.

Dumbing the game down doesn’t solve the problem of an ignorant playerbase, it only re-enforces it. Such was the problem with the NPE, such is the problem with certain balance choices like deciding they cannot invest the manpower in creating a more holistic gameplay experience for all modes.

Splitting skills for PvP and PvE seems to be fine for most of you. It may not be an issue if you only play PvE. It also may not be an issue if you only play PvP.

It is indeed an issue if you play PvE and PvP and both with multiple classes. The required skill knowledge increases drastically and ends up frustrating.

Also remember how confusing and unclear this will be for new players.

Don’t think in that limited mind please: just form your point of only playing one mode.

Please speak for yourself. You might end up frustrated and confused, but lets be real here. To think all new players are mentally deficient is a bad way to go about setting precedence for “balance”.

Balance should be done around the high end of every mode of play. Yes, this increases the “burden of knowledge” but that ultimately creates a healthier state as people have more information as a whole.

Flipping is an important part of the TP.

It’s also an innate problem with the current state of the TP, that is being abused by the minority.

So, why not fix said issue ?

How is it a problem?

How is flipping to manipulate market cost not a problem ?

Why is it that the most profitable way to play the game, is in playing the market and not the game itself. Had this discussion before, the trading post needs to be treated less like commodities exchange more like a centralized trade hub especially considering there is no point to point trade.

Every single player is now getting more gold for their Mystic Coins which they are given for free. That doesn’t sound like a problem to me.

Implying every single player is selling them which is part of the problem.

If everyone was selling the market would bottom out at the 2 silver mark they used to be. Though that issue was due to the surplus being generated which was fixed by removing them from the daily and monthly rewards and by adding more sinks for them in new legendaries / recipes.

Implying nothing. Every single player can now sell them for more gold per coin. Some players choose not to sell. Some players choose not to wait and pay a premium for saving time. Instant Gratification is the driving force behind all virtual economies. The price isn’t high because of any problem, it is high because many players want their item right now.

Yeah, gee heaven forbid people want something now in a game.
The driving problem with virtual economies is they try to mimic real life ones, which has never proven to be healthy for any game. Sometimes i do wonder if the “economist” do realize this simple principal.

Maybe just maybe its time to kill flipping and relisting of items by having all items purchased on the TP bound to account upon pickup.

Then maybe we can get rid of the silly notion that the trading post is used for anything other than a commodities exchange. Because it sure as heck isn’t used for proper trading between players.

Context. Use it.

Do you enjoy doing fractals for a single mystic coin ? …. If you sincerely think that’s a reward then that’s a problem. Same for a single ecto, unid dye etc..

If for example instead of a single item it was in increments of 5-10 maybe it would be worth something. Obviously less due to how it would impact the market, but that’s a problem with the market and not the reward.

Should you get more than the other players? Yes.
Should you get unique rewards in any game mode? No.

Completely disagree.

If all modes of play have homogeneous rewards then there’s no incentive to branch out and do anything other than what offers rewards quickest, which turns the entire game into gold farm simulator 2016.

Unique rewards are required in this game for driving players to different aspects and area’s in the game.

I don´t want to promote gold farming either. I personally don´t usually spend much time farming this or that, at least not for days and the whole day. But if someone wants to spend his game time doing this, I see no reason why Anet should attempt to lure him away from this.

I dispute the claim that it should be mandatory to improve in a given role while having fun.
Playing games has the effect of improving on all of us anyway, it is our way of finding things out we are good at and things we are bad at.
Free play and the situational approach are the way to go in modern education.
Education long tried to waltz out faults of children, but modern education tries to find strengths instead of averaging weaknesses in children. Too bad that this collides with the acadamic mindset of being at least average in everything, so we are in for an exciting time when we try to stuff a child that was raised with free play and choices into a system that enforces obedience, sitting still and doing things you are not the slightest interested in.

A content has to stand on his own feet or is relegated to its own fanbase. An unique reward is a crutch to make it more desireable when you in fact do not desire to make the content. It is a tactic I utterly despite although I have to use it on children very often for the sake of meeting the educational goals the country government sets up with them.

The content does stand on it’s own…

The unique rewards are there to drive more players than just those who enjoy raids to give them a shot.

Just like the unique rewards in PvP were, just as the unique Festival Rewards do, just as pretty much every content piece ever designed for any game has done before it.

I find them fun. Probably not the most effective in pvp, but in pve they suit me just fine and with the right trenchcoat and hat and pistols akimbo, you feel like a wild west gunslinger.

I tried dual pistols on my Engineer in Hot and well to use an old quote “It didn’t end well”

I find weapons such as pistols need huge over hauls, to be even worth it in PvE.

What ?….

Dual Pistol is probably the most viable engi weapon set there is atm.

Hammer is a joke post Rocket charge nerf, 33% reduction to damage and sustain. Anything it can do Rifle can do sans personal reflect. Then there’s Shield which really is the one engie weapon in need of some major love, the cooldowns on it are really too long considering that Hammer reflect is pretty much 15s shorter, and hammer daze is an AoE….

How to make raid fights more accessible

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: TexZero.7910

TexZero.7910

Make them Easier…. Its not Rocket Science.

Or

Make the “Gears” needed for them easier to get..

The don’t need to be easier, and any “Gear” you think you need to get can be purchased on the TP.

Raids are entirely doable in exotic, and have even been completed in Masterwork gear.

So lets make content for the niche community and ignore the rest, sounds viable in the long term… not.

How are they ignoring the rest when there’s been quite a few “PvE” updates to make your gameplay a giant loot pinata again ?

Additionally please explain why having Raids, a mode which requires adequate teamwork and time investment is unhealthy for the game. I fail to see it mostly due to the fact that its the only content piece that has this which makes it a good fit, especially for people who are good at socializing and are good team players.

What PvE updates… If you mean HoT, you’ve got to be kidding right that place is horrible..

Because 99% of the population do not want hardcore teamwork and long term time investment, they just want to enjoy the game at their own pace all the content..

And when they are excluded from content they get angry and leave..

Then they can do all of that and not raid. I don’t see a problem.
Those same people really put up some loud complaints about not winning 200k from the recent ESL league i see….. May as well all quit since we all aren’t winners in life right ?

Again, not everything is for everyone. If people are going to get so bent out of shape about not doing raids because they refuse to improve as a player, then they never were the target audience and there’s no need to change the mode for that. Instead they should just focus on the other areas of play that exist to them, like fractals, dungeons, open world, hot join pvp, HoT RP sessions in DR pretending to be rich etc…

and yet the fact remains that plenty of pugs are struggling with this content. Stop trying to minimize that. The current raids work for you and people who approach them as you do, but they clearly aren’t working for everyone. How can the game adapt to those players, rather than those players adapting to the game? You would insist that those players should have to adapt to the game, but this is an entertainment product, if they would not have fun adapting then there is no reason on this Earth why they should do so.

That’s great, people struggling means that the raids are working as intended. You should struggle at first, strive to get better, improve and succeed. That’s kinda how this works. Nothing needs to be fixed with the model, the people who refuse to accept this need to change their attitude on it. As an entertainment product they are doing just fine providing content to most game modes (WvW excluded here) …so i yet again fail to see why any dev needs to take time out of their day to cater to players who want the game to play down to their individual level when Raids are about the Group.

Bifrost will be easier to make.

The Gen 2 Legendaries are pretty much a kick in the wallet, with there being very little fun task involved in the creation. Especially steps 2/4.

How to make raid fights more accessible

Raids aren’t casual and aren’t meant to be. Never have been.

Yes, welcome to page one. Now, how can we go about fixing that?

Here’s the global solution for you. Start your own group with 9 other like minded people.

But the problem is, if I do that, it won’t work out. We’ll spend hours attempting the raids and never get anywhere, which is not what any of us would be looking for. What we’d need would be for the conditions of the encounter to change, so that this casual group could form AND have a reasonable chance of success within a a short amount of time.

It’s already been demonstrated that raids can be low-manned / sub-optimal / people with 60% less DPS and yet you’re still here complaining about a DPS race why ?

Because however much you highlight edgecase examples of expert teams, victory is still elusive for some players. Stop talking about what experts can accomplish when they put their minds to it and start talking about how random pugs of inexpert players can clear the encounter on their first night in under an hour, then we can start talking about how nothing needs to be changed.

In this case it is apt to say, you need to improve as a player if you still think raids are a dps race,

No. I could improve as a player, but there’s no reason for me to need to do so if that’s not what I’d like to do. I would prefer that the conditions adapt instead.

both from a gameplay standpoint and from just a pure social standpoint as its just a shame that you really think changing the game to suit you is a valid solution.

And I find it just as sad that you expect the majority of players to adapt their lifestyles to match the desires of a small fringe of the population.

Lol.

All this just lol.

Change it to the way i think it should work because…..

Seriously do you even read what you write anymore ?

Raids aren’t casual, aren’t meant to be and asking for that to change is foolhardy.
It should come as no surprise to anyone that Raids are not meant for PHIW, they require you to actually you know work together as a team, make team based sacrifices to achieve victory. If you want to “BE A HERO” there’s the open world for you, it is the exact mode of play you are asking for where in the collective makes up for more than any individual ever will.

It’s also comical that you think people who do these things are somehow expert or pro or whatever the next label you’re going to use for them is when PUGs do exactly what you’re asking. Complete the raid wing in 1-2hrs time. But you’d know that if you actually PuG’d raids and were an honest team player.
