1st server and 2nd is my guess. Blob more, get bigger rewards. L
And would that be 1st and 2nd in all tiers?
If you go to your Finishers ingame, there is a 1st-place finisher and a 2nd-place finisher. Who would get these?
Probably asked before, but I was unable to find it.
I’m not sure how the seasonal rewards work.
There are 3 leagues: Gold, Silver, Bronze.
Each league have 9 servers fighting for the most points.
Who gets the gold reward? The entire gold league? Top 3 within each league? The winner of each league?
Have you tried using a stress test to see if you can provoke the bluescreen outside GuildWars?
If temperature is fine (Check Yamagawas link to temperature monitors, even if it wasn’t dusted up, just to be 100%), other games/stress test makes it through, and you have a current stable driver, then it’s becoming an odd issue in my book.
One thing I have noticed is the fans run a bit while I’m playing the game. But every single time, within 30 seconds of me exiting game or even just shrinking it to the taskbar, every fan in my case kicks into high gear. Is there some setting in the game that prevents the case fans from running?
Unless you have manually set the fan speed, it is acting on temperature. No game settings will change what your fan does.
Is your Graphics Driver a current non-Beta version?
Is your Graphics Driver a current non-Beta version?
There’s actually a few things there I haven’t tried.
I’ll be back! Thanks
Tried:
- Running as Admin
- Changing language
- Deleted my 60MB local.dat :<
- Deleted the GuildWars 2 cache. —> FIXED!
I did not consider that one
Thanks StinVec, you saved the day again

More info. Ever since patch, my graphics card revs hard almost the entire time I’m in game. It’s a GTX 550. There is no way in heck an mmo should do that. The BSOD kicks in maybe 5 to 10 minutes after I launch gw2.
I have shadows turned off, and a lot of other stuff turned to medium or low.
Something you guys changed in the graphics is overloading a graphics card that should play this game with everything turned on with no problems.
Did you check for dust?
So for a few days my BLTC window has appeared as the attached picture.
I have tried different characters, restarting the game, restarting the computer. Guildies report no problems.
It looks to me like the CSS file didn’t load?
Anyone have an idea?
(edited by Treeline.3865)
Or you have to go through a lot of effort to buy a code for mr. sparkles. People wanted 300g to 1000g+ for one so I just took the 300g offer and called it done.
That I would actually be able to live with. How did you find an in-game seller, and how did you make sure it wasn’t a scam?
I won a contest for a code (Thanks moosefaces), so I’m still collecting as well. Until the next of these at least. But that was simply lucky. If I could find an in-game seller, I’d be more comfortable with that.
This probably only applies if you have many than 4 cores right? Such as an i7 I believe.
It applies on any multicore system.
I did the same a year ago, got the same 15-20 fps on my i5-460 (Laptop processor)
To get back on topic, I guess the sad answer to it all is that Anet does not care about collectors. I know, I know, they can’t answer every thread. The one in the General Discussion subforum had over 10.000 views. A second thread was in the living world subforum. This thread had over 6.000 views, which is a lot for this subforum. Furthermore this particular one have been on the front page for a looooong time now. In my opinion that means they are not interested in explaining anything.
I’m disappointed that so much time has passed, but since no one from Anet came by, I guess it means we will see more of these minipets.
Game Over, completionists.
I dont see how to make money of minis. Most minis I own are worth less than I bought them for now. Add 15% tax to it…
True in most cases, but not all. Random example being the karka minipets. I bought my Mini Karka for 30g when it was a new thing.
I’m sorry if this has been brought up before, (32 pages, wauw).
In regards to the Ranger, could the shortbow get some love? The longbow has been buffed to now surpass the shortbow in almost every way. I still love the shortbow for being the “quick on the feet” bow with it’s fast attacks and utility skills. What made me feel bad about it was not the longbow buffs, but the huge range nerf the shortbow took. You put it from 1200 range to 900 range. That is a lot. 25% of the range, gone.
Now, I don’t neccesarily disagree with this. It’s dumb that the shortbow reached as far as the longbow, given that the longbow was not on strong. But this changed. On medium and far range, the longbow now yields a better DPS than the shortbow. That does not make sense to me. It seems that there is nothing left on the shortbow, and I don’t ever see a fellow ranger with a shortbow anymore. The longbow both have better range and more damage. Could the shortbow get some sort of remedy, or maybe a bit of its original range back? 1000 or 1100 range? Or alternatively nerf the longbow, if that fits better.
I honestly don’t mind, because I know why Anet did these festivals in the first place. Using them again and again, they can focus more on new content and stuff. So I don’t mind a few weeks of a repeat event.
Likely using an exploit to get out of the map
It’s where the villager falls under the map, basically.
Don’t know how to do it, but I’ve seen screenshots/claims of being there.
If that’s the “1 great spot”, then there’s 2
I do agree that the downed state was interesting. I liked the interaction that took place – Other NPC’s trying to res. The combat felt more real and alive. That said I do not want it in any events that could have a zerg. I hate running around 30 mobs trying to figure what I should press F on to loot, read Scarlet’s Invasion. It’s not any fun in zergs. But I loved it in the solo instance for example.
I liked adjusted #1 better, but #2 is definitely still an improvement from the current one.
Lel. I did not notice it before because the link was visited. Which it of course was, but in this subforum. Thank you so much
Thanks. So they unstickied it, but did not fix the bug? Any idea at all as to why the information was removed?
For a year there has been a sticky in this forum regarding a horrible bug causing you to miss out on tPvP chests after transferring between EU and NA servers. Anyone know where this stickied thread went? Was the bug fixed, or did they remove the only helpful information that existed on the topic?
One addition to the Guild Interface: Something like a “Last represented”. Many of us want people to consider us their main Guild. But while you can roughly use the leaderboards to check when people were last online, there is no way to see how often people represent except doing it manually. Once a Guild hits 100 members that’s already a hard thing to do. What I would prefer is probably a percentage timer that counts something like a month into the past and then just gives a percentage.
Example: A player has been online 100 hours in the last month. The player has represented the Guild for 22 hours. All i want to see is “Representing: 22%”. It would be very helpful as a lot of people decide they want multiple guilds at the same time, but often only really play for one of them.
This was my first thought too actually. But hey, let’s play! Maybe it’s not bad
Anyone else notice that this thread is a year old? o_O
I’m pretty sure that even with a 100 000 $ computer, you couldn’t run the game in WvW without lag and acceptable ftps.
The setup you gonna buy looks good enough to run it but don’t expect to run it at full details and get 60 fps.
Some setups can do it, but it does require some expensive hardware (And expensive is relative, before someone tries to argue :p )
It’s most likely not the graphics card it comes down to. It’s the CPU.
Don’t forget Healing Spring!
That’s like the best skill we have. Seriously
I’m not really upset about the exclusive pet at an event – I wasn’t in WoW even though I did that thing where you hauled your kitteny-kitten to a certain spot at reset to get a kitten or flew in loops over egg spawn points. I always knew that there were a few I would never realistically get unless I wanted to try to spend real money on eBay. And that was okay. My collection was as “complete” as I wanted it to be and was able to get it and that was fair.
I would agree that they should put the “IRL Prize” ones in a different category of their own. That would make sense.
I admit, I don’t really see as much point in collecting minis/pets in GW2. They’re almost all just bought – so it’s either “I logged on the gem store at this time” or “I bought this with gems or farmed enough gold for it”. I can see why people would still collect them, but it took the fun out of it for me. I was happy to buy some pets – heck, I’d go as high as 50% – but ONLY buying them kind of killed it for me. There are some that feel more special because they were tied to a meta achievement or such, but they’re a small minority.
/tangent
I agree, they are generally too happy to about releasing minipets through gemstore/black lion chests, but at least they have done so since release, so it’s not a nasty surprise like the case of Mr. Sparkles. I would love to have more minipets to earn through gameplay rather than buy 2 sets of the same minipets in gemstore for 1.000 gems and forge 3 of them with item X. But hey, at least it’s not RNG, unlike Black Lion Chest pets.
No ETA on skill delay fix.
I was just impressed. No irony. Thanks for the honest answer, it’s nice to have an answer, even if it’s not the one we are looking for!
Yup, Anet nerfed it.
I apologize for my tone in the last post I made. It wasn’t necessary of me to be so hostile and I apologize to those I was rude to. However, I do still feel that the game is in some way unstable. It’s always a possibility that my computer can’t handle the game, but I believe I already mentioned that it had been running fine for nearly a month until very recently when many others began to experience the same issue.
Here are a few links to other threads that have popped up recently related to similar problems.https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Sudden-Permanent-FPS-Drop/first#post3103996
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Skill-lag-lag/first#post3103648
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Consistent-Latency-issues
It isn’t just me and we, the consumers, would like at the very least an explanation if not a fix for the matter.
I don’t expect immediate action as this is a video game not a severed limb. But I have payed for this game as have the rest of the community and I believe we deserve some info about the sudden increase in instabilities.
Whatever your issue is, the threads you are linking to are not the same. FPS is not the same as latency or lag. FPS issues happens when your computer can’t keep up. Whether that’s due to the game being poorly optimized or your computer being bad, that I will leave alone. Latency/Lag issues is when the internet connection can’t keep up. Things will appear to stand still, jump around or be inconsistent because there not coming enough data through to show you exactly what is happening around you. This can again be both due to ArenaNet’s servers being unable to keep up and your own internet connection. When it’s ArenaNet’s servers you will see skill lag, as described in one of the threads you linked to.
Before claiming the game is unstable, you really need to figure out what it is you are complaining about. You’re mixing different things up.
Hm… Well I see again that there are others who have experienced similar problems. This is unfortunate and I feel for those that have had this issue. It’s a pain in the behind.
It’s an obvious possibility that it is my computer that isn’t functioning properly and not the game. However due to the high volume of others that have had the same problem and with better computers, even in some cases worse, I find so unlikely.
I don’t plan to make any alterations to my system to support the game. I’ll look further in to it and if it happens to be my computer that’s the problem then I won’t continue to complain or to attempt to play. If my computer is fine, I’ll be giving ANet a phone call. Not that me doing so will change anything, but I’d rather take some form of action than to just feel like I’ve thrown my money out the window.
You may want to give SolarNova’s answer another read, it’s all valid. For reference, if you don’t have a dedicated graphics card and are in fact running the Intel HD 3000, you will never see more than 20fps on that thing. I helped a friend fix up her computer best possible, I could get 18fps in game when she was doing nothing in a random PvE area.
116% here, 109% from luck
In generel they are pushing the wrong kind of items in gemstore. They are thinking in lines of what in-game functionality we would like rather than what cool things we would like to see. As such we get kitten like swim speed boosters, trait reset which should not have been a gemstore item and in generel questionable stuff that seems like a clear attempt at catering as “real items” that is nice for you without making it Pay 2 Win. Let us buy more real skins (not the out of combat crap), more effects like finishers (which is already sold in way too many variants on short time), alternative voices, heck I would even let them sell an alternative game “border” (notice the black sketchy border you have around the game).
I agree, it’s a great idea, OP.
I am not a mini collector but I am just wondering why do people even collect these minipets, getting a legendary is a bigger achievement than minipets? So why not go for legendary over minipets
a mini pet simply takes time and effort, a legendary is IMO a waste of time for a skin that’s gonna annoy the heck out of me.
Haha I agree. First of all I would know everyone wanting a legendary X, would go for the same weapon as me, seeing there’s only 1 choice. And I dont like everyone looking like me. Minipets are different – Love to show off the really rare ones.
I can confirm the bug in CoF 1. It’s common.
I do not have mobile authentication, no one develops for Nokia, so that’s not an option for me. ^^ Only e-mail authentication, which I on the other hand will not disable, for obvious security reasons
Also yes, the account pages are bugged as I don’t know what.
How would I do that? And the problem was not when logging in to account management, I can do that. The game itself however just never asks for authentication, it just “can’t connect to login server at this time”.
Hello
I’m trying to login to Guild Wars 2 with the following setup:
Windows 8 Laptop on wireless internet connection.
WiFi is provided from my Nokia phone through a program called JoikuSpot – The cellphone takes the 3G network and broadcasts it as WiFi that my laptop can use.
Using the Account site:
I can attempt to login -> I will get an authentication request looking like this:
94.144.63.87
Address: xx.xxx.xx.xx (I hid it for security, it’s just a standard IP address.)
City:
Region:
Country: DK
In other words the City and Region fields are blank for some reason. Anyways, I hit authenticate, and I can proceed to login. No problems.
Moving to the game client, I hit the game icon, the launcher pops up and starts trying to logging in. This goes on for ~10 seconds before the launcher reports it could not connect to the server at this time. It does not ask for authentication, nor does it send me the standard e-mail asking me to authenticate the attempted login. It just tries to log in and fails, claiming the login server can not be reached.
On a normal connection, wire or wireless I do not have this problem. I always get the authentication email and I can always see which region and city I log in from. I never have problems logging in.
Any ideas why I can’t play the game, using my phone as WiFi?
Edit: Rephrased for clarity.
(edited by Treeline.3865)
I have witnessed this as well, most obvious one was someone who simply kept taking a few steps forward. Wait 2 seconds. Walk a few steps backwards. Wait 2 seconds. Repeat cycle
I can unfortuntely only tell you that where rares salvage for 0-3 globs of ectoplasm, exotics salvage for 0-5. If you do find a salvage rate, I’d love to know.
I am not a mini collector but I am just wondering why do people even collect these minipets, getting a legendary is a bigger achievement than minipets? So why not go for legendary over minipets
That’s subjective. I have no legendary. I have minipets enough that they would buy me a legendary. I just love to collect. It’s just like collecting in real life, you get nothing from doing it, but if a nice framework has been created to collect something, it can be fun, trying to collect that collection. We just didn’t care much for the latest addition to that framework
As a ranger for 2.400 hours, we’re doing quite fine. I do not play WvW, but for PvE purposes I have no problem with dungeons, fractals, Liadri or other “difficult” content. I do not feel kitten. As for PvP there are more than 1 viable build, which is more than I can say for other classes. I have no problem carrying myself into the 90th percentile, and I’m not that good.
Except from AI, bugs and small mechanic issues, we don’t have it that bad. In PvP i fear more for a longbow spirit ranger than any other class
In most laptops 70 degrees isn’t a problem at all. I’ve been running between 65-80 degrees on my laptop for a few years now when playing “heavy” games. No harm done. Try looking up your CPU and see how much it can take. Many laptop CPU’s can take around 100-105 degrees, but I would recommend staying at least 10 degrees under that limit, to not wear your CPU down. (I’m assuming that’s what you’re reading). If you want to keep it as cool as you can, clean the fans, replace the pasta and keep your laptop elevated where it can breathe.
Because it was done all through GW1
That’s.. Not really a reason. I think I was unclear. Why do you think it’s a good thing to release exclusive minipets that you can’t obtain in-game? If it’s because they did it in GW1 too, I’m not too thrilled with the argument.
I hope that we can complete the quest chain again. I accidentally deleted the item earlier this year while cleaning my bank. Support wouldn’t revert and give it back to me.
ArenaNet is not shy about giving away ultra-exclusive minis. My friend got a MKG from winning honorable mention in a GW1 art contest. There were very few released and I think things like this are good. Expect more in the future.
And what makes you ‘think’ that?
Just four words from me before this thread closes – Now I don’t know whether this sudden interest in the community will end with something good, but I certainly hope for it.
So four words: Thanks for finally caring!
