@AndrewSX
You make it sound as though the whole company is working on the Living World content. Though from what Colin said in the video, only a portion of the team has been chosen to make this content, and even then, they’ve been split into smaller groups to work on each individual month separately. Meaning that the people that are handling the Bazaar this July will be different than the team handling the update in August which will be different from the team handling the update in September.
It wouldn’t surprise me at all if they’re handling other aspects of the game similarly.
Do you all think Divinity’s Reach when you talk about the home instance ? Look at Hoelbrak, the home instance there is not more than Eirs Hut.
That’s not the norn character’s home instance. Norn characters get a large chunk of the the main lodge as their home instance. It’s the place where you meet with the different Orders while you decide which to join.
I was wondering how an off-hand sword would work on a guardian, if we ever got access to one. Personally, I wouldn’t mind seeing something like this:
Skill 4a: Zealous Retreat – Block the next attack. If blocked, the user is teleported away blinding nearby foes.
Skill 4b: Holy Slash – The user swings their sword in an arch, inflicting weakness onto the foes it hits.
Skill 5: Wrathful Wave – The user spins around once, striking each foe with greater intensity as he spins.
Wow, thank you for the quick responses! I created a norn guardian but he has the wolf spirit racial. Is that adviseable as well?
If you’re referring to the questions that you get asked during character creation, it doesn’t matter. A norn blessed by wolf can unlock Snow Leapord forme just as easily as a Snow Leapord norn can unlock Wolf Forme.
Wow, someone thinks highly of themself. Listen, it’s not that hard to unlock all the waypoints on a map. Even a “casual player” (I honestly hate that word, along with hardcore and the like) can spare some of their play time getting them. Hell, I only have one character with all the Waypoints unlocked. Everyone else is sitting at less than 40% of the map unlocked.
Waypoints are tied to Legendary crafting, so making thing easier all around won’t do any good in the long run.
Fun Fact: If you input certain /comands into the chat, you won’t get an error message stating that the player cannot do these action. This mean that some emotes weren’t finished, or it could be that they were intended to be added later on. I don’t know which is which, but I’d love to see some of them in the game!
Please add all the Aetherblade weapons to the game! Please! I want the rapier AND the revolver SOOO badly~!! My mesmer, thief, and engineer would love you with all their pixelated heats!!!
Shortbows have a short range. It’s in the name sadly, so I don’t think we’ll be getting anything past 900 range from them anymore.
Except that World Completion earns players a Gift of Discovery. If it weren’t tied in with making a Legendary, I don’t see why not, but it does. Unlocking an entire section of World Completion due to laziness isn’t really the way to go. Besides, do you really need every waypoint unlocked? I know there are some I haven’t touched on my main since launch.
I had no idea this puzzle was even bugged until I read here on the forums in the last few days. I have done this puzzle many times (and fallen many times) and never had an issue with attunement or bugginess.
Same. I do this JP whenever we get Jump Puzzler for the monthly, and I’ve never encountered any sort of issue. Go figure… :/
Oh and btw, you don’t have to re-attune if you die. It’s on a timer that’ll stick on you even if you fall from a platform. Also, there are mini golems that port you to check points located at the entrance of each section of the puzzle.
Sylvari guardian, because being an honor-bound Valiant is the best way to go!
I don’t know the reasoning about the Charr but I gather they didn’t want sexy armor on a character that looks childlike. So they made the female Asura wear male armor only.
Edit: not saying because this armor is sexy but its a general ruling they made iirc.
The reason is because of lore.
Asura and Charr, both male and female are considered the same. There is no discrimination between the genders.
A female Charr is seen to be just as deadly, scary, cool, yada yada, as the male, they do the exact same work as a male charr do, they can do anything a male charr can, and vice versa.
Same with Asura.
That is why they do not have different clothing options, just to show that, that the genders have no meaning in their society.
You do know that game developers on occasion make up lore to justify and/or explain certain aspects of the game. It could be that they didn’t want female asura wearing risque armors, so they gave them male armor sets and said that gender roles in asuran society don’t matter.
Please give them ideas. I’m getting tired of having to deal with some of kittens that think they own Fireheart whenever I go to do a run or two of CoF. That is to say that not all of them are jerkfaces, but I’d love to see the ones that are fume when the dungeon does get a revamp!
Make an lfg advertising for a regular run then. Why should us farmers have to suffer just because you don’t fit our criteria for being in our group, just how we don’t fit the criteria for your group yet it’s seemingly fine for you to discriminate against us?
Um… How about you read my post again? I said that not all farmers are jerks. I have no problem with farmers, if that’s your thing then go a head and do it. What I’m talking about are the scumbags who stand around during the Pre-Events yelling at the people doing them to hurry up so they can carry on with their farming. It’s those jerks that I’d love to see get screwed over. I’ll feel bad for you and anyone else that just wants to get their farm on without being rude to others.
Also, I’m not for forcing people to play my way, that’s what ANet has been doing apparently. They’re the ones that are nerfing farming, not me.
Right, so you’re saying that rude players, in this case rude farmers, should be punished.
That’s fine.
And they should be punished by … nerfing cof p1? what?
Should they also nerf Orr again, just for kicks like they’ve done before?
Those people telling others to hurry up with the meta event are idiots anyway, it’s not that hard to just guest.
Whether I want to or not, or whether you don’t want to or do, CoF1 will get buffed/reworked eventually. It’s just a matter of time before ANet decides to do something about that path.
My personal feelings on the jerks doesn’t matter. Heck, I wasn’t being all that serious with my post to begin with. I just thought it would be funny to see the jerks who are jerks get a kick to the rear. I think someone is taking their frustrations on the anti-farmers out on the wrong person. :P
I would have bought the light set for my asuran mesmer had the female model used the humanoid female model version of the armor. I’ve been wanting her in a skirt for so long~!
Please give them ideas. I’m getting tired of having to deal with some of kittens that think they own Fireheart whenever I go to do a run or two of CoF. That is to say that not all of them are jerkfaces, but I’d love to see the ones that are fume when the dungeon does get a revamp!

I like the Living Story, it gives me stuff to do every few weeks that doesn’t involve doing the same exact dungeon I’ve been running since launch. Yes, it’ll only be around for a few weeks, but does that really matter? I mean, do you really think that people would be doing this content had it stayed in the game permanently? Yeah, there would be a niche group still running it like crazy (I know I’d be doing the Molten Weapons Facility quite frequently had it stayed), but for the most part it would go off and be ignored by the majority of the player-base.

Yeah, it’s one of those “you go on your own time,” kind of thing. I haven’t gone there myself, but I did go the the Hatchery while finishing up World Completion on a character. I talked to some NPCs, but I didn’t really pay enough attention to remember what they had to say. Pretty cool nonetheless.
Not to mention the fact that were supposed to be from the coffers, but unfortunately weren’t due to either an oversight or a bug. They were going to be a gamble along with all the other cosmetic rewards we got from the chests. The only reason why everyone who got them was because of the incident. If it hadn’t been for that, then not everyone who payed gems to buy the Rich Coffer would have gotten them.
Here’s my set up at the moment!
The top right shows my stats before using any consumables, the one on the bottom right does; I use Master Maintenance Oils and Plates of Lemongrass Poultry. The stat boosted image also shows my character with a full stack of Bloodlust.
As for gear:
Helm: Sentinel (Superior Rune of the Wurm)
Shoulders: Berserker (Superior Rune of the Wurm)
Top: Sentinel (Superior Rune of the Wurm)
Gloves: Berserker (Superior Rune of the Wurm)
Leggings: Berserker (Superior Rune of the Wurm)
Boots: Berserker (Superior Rune of the Wurm)
The Trinkets I use are:
Back: Soldier (Ascended)
Accessory 1: Soldier (Ascended)
Accessory 2: Soldier (Exotic)
Amulet: Cavalier (Ascended)
Ring 1: Cavalier (Ascended)
Ring 2: Cavalier (Ascended)
My weapon sets are:
Sword: Berserker (Superior Sigil of Bloodlust)
Focus: Sentinel (Superior Sigil of Accuracy)
Scepter: Berserker (Superior Sigil of Force)
TBA (I can decide on what weapon to use, so I’m currently sharing the same focus for each set)
From what I remember of the zone (I passed through there on occasion while attempting to get the Vanquisher tittles… That plan never panned out), the centaurs that spawn there all congregate around the large tree in the center of the zone. It’s actually a pretty impressive site, and I recommend anyone still playing Guild Wars to go check it out.
It wouldn’t surprise me if there are still centaurs in that area, and it wouldn’t surprise me if there are Inquest, bandits, and/or Nightmare Court occupying the space as well. I can picture a few events dealing with trying to get the four groups to either stop fighting for control of the area, or to break up any sort of attempts at a coalition like the one in western Brisban Wildlands.
Salvage kit what dont destroy armor same salvage what is in gw1
Oh god, a salvage kit that only yields upgrades, while not destroying the skin, would be AMAZING!!! I would buy that in a heartbeat~!!!
The truly sad/funny part is that some people still stood in Lions Arch asking where Vorrk was when there was a very obvious star burst pattern on the map.
Ugh. I had someone asking where the sylvari rep was while in Caledon. Simply told them to look for the star. I mean, the letter even has a button that you can press that’ll show you where they are! Really shows that some people don’t read anything…
/RageDone
Thanks for the reply. I just ordered it from a third party seller off Amazon.de (shipping directly from Germany within 2-3 work days). Amazon.de itself says 4-7 weeks… Fingers crossed! =)
Fingers crossed for you! I actually know a few people that have gotten the book already since they had pre-ordered it! I should have done the same~!! (/>_<)/
I love Guild Wars 2 too!!
I’m a fan of how the Living Story’s been shaping up, and while it’s a bit sad to never see some of the temporary content leave, I like how they’re pulling you along on what seems like a never-ending Personal Story!
… That is if the server stay up for that long… :x
What I don’t quite understand is that Amazon.com says it’s in stock while noting the 25th June as publish date. Also the Guild Wars 2 news says it’s only available for pre-order?!
Fun Fact: Amazon is actually selling the books already, and have been sending it out early. I’m actually getting mine on the 24th, if the email I got from them is truthful that is.
“What is this?!” “What is this?!” “What is this?!” “What is this?!” “What is this?!”
Yeah, sometimes it can get annoying, but I’ve learned to tune it out… Though I guess that’s in it of itself a bad thing too… :X
I do agree with Rouven though that replacing NPC dialog, out in the open world of course, with info on what’s currently happening in the Living Story would be cool. Though I guess that’s what the Heralds are meant for.
You know, I’ve been picturing the Living Story as a sort of endgame for players. Instead of it being a gear grind (stat-wise of course), it’s more of a lore/task-grind. We’re being moved all over the world, doing tasks for NPCs, fighting new enemies (or old ones), and all the while obtaining new shines for doing so. I mean, it’s better than running around doing events in Orr which have been nerfed to the floor.
I can’t believe that no one has noticed where this song was from originally!
…
Or I can’t believe how long I’ve been part of this community… (^_^) ’ ’ ’

Am I the only one who see this thread and thinks that ANet changed something about the actual item that’s in the game? xD
Anyway, I don’t really care either way for the change. If it helps some then that’s great! If it’s a hindrance for others, then maybe the option to revert to the old rings is needed.
I just First-Person view, so it’ll give ANet the incentive to add Oculus Rift support to Guild Wars 2… (>_>) ’ ’ ’
Am I the only one that got confused at the RP server part?
Anyway, it really it a reactive job to melee in this game. You need to dodge, veer, block, and spam protection in order to get into it. It’s actually a lot of fun once you’ve gotten the hang of it! Though I do have to say that mob CC can get waaaay to crazy at times. :/
Can confirm black lion keys do not drop. 550+ hours. You can get them from daily or storyline rewards.
Except they do. They’re rare, but I and a few friends have gotten them from mob drops before.
Legendaries are confirmed to be boosted to be on par with ascended weapons, as per Lindsey Murdock.
They are not, however, confirmed to stay on par with any new level cap.
And i wouldn’t count on Anet not using that loophole some day.
I’m pretty sure they made it clear that Legendary-tier is always going to be on top, so it wouldn’t surprise me if they do upgrade Legendary is and when they raise the stat-cap.
We have a whole sub-forum dedicated to Living World content… :X
Hrm… Well, you need it in order to make Powerful Potions of Undead Slaying. Maybe people have taken to drinking them now that most Orr Events are being buffed like all hell.
lol Fun Fact: One of the lead Lore devs actually made a similar comparison to DE in an interview once I think.
That’s besides the point though.
No one actually sees this pattern in every hero NPC’s story???
GW1 was completely soloable. GW2 should be as well.
I say a hearty “Nay!” to grouped content. This isn’t 2004. It’s time MMOs moved on.
Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 are not the same game. They are two separate entities being handled just as differently.
I honestly feel as though ArenaNet should not have called this Game “Guild Wars 2” because of comments like this… :/
(Not a personal attack mind you, it’s just that this gets tossed around WAY too much by people)
Now before I begin, I’d like to say that I believe that the ArenaNet writing team is pretty good. They’ve done their fair share of hiccups, but Guild Wars 2’s story, for the most part, is pretty awesome. There is, however, a problem I wish to discuss; Depressing Backgrounds.
Logan - Brother died in Ebonhawke during Kralkatorik’s flight south and creation of the Brand. Also one of his closest friends died because he wasn’t there when needed.
Eir - Lost her father, and had one of her closest friends die in her arms.
Sojja - Had her mentor, and father-figure, die in front of her.
Rytlock - Had his trust betrayed by someone he thought of as a brother, and seems to have an estranged relationship with his warband. Also had a close friend die in front of him.
Caithe - Her lover went to the dark-side, and has tried to manipulate her into doing so as well. Also she may have cheated on her at some point (if I understood TA Story Mode correctly). Friend died yada-yada-yada.
Now while some of these can vary in terms of how sad they are, it can be said that each member of Destiny’s Edge hasn’t had the best life on Tyria. This normally wouldn’t be a problem, as it helps build character and can be used as plot devices to further their stories later on. Still, with the introduction of the Living Story I was was hoping for a bit of a change of pace in terms of character backgrounds.
Spoilers: We didn’t.
Braham - Lost his father at a young age, and has an estranged relationship with his mother. Also his “girlfriend” might be dead.
Rox - Her entire warband, and pet, got crushed in a cave-in leaving her alone and a gladium.
Again, I’m not saying that it’s bad to give characters hardships, but there comes a time when it just starts to become repetitive. This is starting to be it. I’m honestly thinking of taking bets to see what sad story this Lionguard Inspector Kiel has to tell us. I mean, not everyone needs to have a sad past to become a hero. Not everyone needs to have someone die in order for them to realize that they need to take action against the evils of this world.
It’s just starting to get stale. Any thoughts?
(edited by TriggerSad.2597)
That could open up to some abuse if ArenaNet doesn’t regulate it correctly. Still, I do like the idea of naming a weapon if it mean it becoming soulbound. :o
I’d rather have the scavenger hunt, since that sounds way more fun than a karma grind… :/
Another nice thing would be if our pet’s health bar also had numerical values for their health, and not just the red bar. Kind of like how we have a number on out health orb. It’d make it easier to know when we’ll get the most out of a heal.
Nope, because it’s clear what they are. Also the belittling tone isn’t necessary, and just makes you seem less agreeable with.
lol u mad?
Seriously though, I like the addition they made for retaliation. Makes it clear when it’s up and doing it’s job. I do agree that the fists seem to be a bit too big, so maybe just scale it down bit? I think the main reason it give off that impression is because it actually looks like like something (fists), as apposed to the blobs and blasts that critical hits and confusion does.
I’d LOVE future bank slots~! I know my hoarding ways would appreciate it!
Because it’s direct, requires little to no thought in figuring out what it does, and doesn’t complicate anything.
No because they have completely different features that define them.
A Nightmare hound is just a Sylvan Hound that’s fallen into nightmare. I don’t really think the difference warrants enough for it to become a pet.
I do like the idea of there being pets that spawn/only spawn in dungeons though! It’ll make it something interesting for Rangers to hunt down during a run! There could even be All-Ranger runs for people that solely want to enter a dungeon for a pet!
There are a few dev posts on this thread that’ll answer that question.
