Isn’t that the joy of making a build? Putting together obscure runes and Sigils to find a combination with the right balance of crazy and insance? Seriously, what I’m hearing right now is that you don’t actually want to try. You just want things to be given to you.

The point is, I think the build I currently run as a condi Guardian would seriously become too good if the boost went to 30%. Maybe it can go to 20 or 15 but 30? That’s playing with fire and I didn’t just type that for puns.

Let me give you an example since you don’t seem capable of understanding the situation condition guardians are in.

Two of the attacks on the warrior’s main hand sword auto-attack chain apply a stack of bleeding each (Sever Artery and Gash). Meaning that the full rotation applies two stacks of bleeding onto a target.
A warrior can then trait 5 points into Arms for the Adept Minor trait Precise Strikes which gives a warrior a 33% chance of applying a single stack bleeding on a foe when hitting them with a critical hit. This trait does not have an internal cooldown, so any and all critical hits have a chance of applying a stack of bleeding.
Additionally a warrior can place a Superior Sigil of Earth onto their sword, which has a 60% chance of applying bleeding on a critical hit. However, this has a 5 second cooldown.

What this all means is that a warrior has the ability of applying 3 stacks of bleeding every 5 seconds with just their auto attack. Not to mention that Sever Artery and Gash cleave. A warrior can effectively can stack 1-3 stacks of bleeding onto any of 3 foes in front of them without much care in the world.

Can a guardian do this? Kind of. They can use a Superior Sigil of Earth to apply 1 stack of bleeding every 5 seconds on a successful critical hit.

The funny thing is if you take this skill and use the signet of wrath we have some of the highest potential condition damage (as a stat) of all the professions. Its like they gave us the worlds most powerful gun, with no ammunition.

There’s plenty of ammunition. You just need to think outside the burning box you guys have kept yourselves in.

While we do have access to runes and sigils to aid us in applying multiple conditions, we should not need to rely on these things as a major source of conditions. Other professions use them as supplemental aids to their DPS, and we should too. Creating a condition build dependent on items that other professions kind of need, but can do well without, isn’t a good thing. It cripples us from being able to have full control of our builds. Not to mention the fact that the sigils and runes that do apply damaging conditions pale in comparison to skills used by other professions that apply the same conditions we are currently needing.

What makes you guys believe that the spores that already exist in the world are going to be removed after this event ends? ANet already made it clear that Kessex won’t be returning to normal any time soon, so the nodes could very much become a permanent node in the zone.

The sale isn’t for Gold>Gem players, it’s for Gem Buyers. In fact, all sales are for Gem Buyers. If you think you’re going to score using gem conversions, then you really need reevaluate how the Gem Store works.

Night Fall’s early leveling was mainly centered on their newbie isle. By the time you were preparing to attack that one fortress on the mainland, the player character was around level 19-20. Maybe even 18 if they had skipped a quest or two. Though I will say that the first arch took it’s time to be completed. In Factions it was similar, but way more fast-paced. Often times players could get to level 20 before even getting to the quest that took you to Faction’s mainland area.

My best guess is that they did, but weren’t put into a loading screen. It could be that the portals was intended to lead you somewhere, but was cut out of the game post release, and just never got around to removing the portal model/animation-thing from the map.

This is the first half of the update, the second half will more than likely give us a nicer chunk of content.
The way I see the kill x and do x achievements is that they wanted us to learn how the Toxic Alliance mobs fight, get us used to finishing off the sylvari enemies, and give us a general understanding of the Toxic debuff. It’s just a means to educate players on the new mechanics that they’ll probably expand upon in two weeks. At least that’s how I see it.

What? Scarlet seems like the type who would gladly take Marjory into her group. She is a very skilled detective.

I always figured that they ran on magic. Scarlet had most of her technological education done within the Asuran colleges, so it wouldn’t be hard to imagine that she uses power sources similar to theirs.

I’d like to point out that bumping your own thread is against the forum’s Code of Conduct.

It’s not intended to be accessible, that’s the whole reason why the area has bugs to start. It was most likely not given any sort of QA passes due to it not ever having been intended to be seen by players. You guys were clearly pushing it by asking them to go in and fix whatever it was that needed to be fixed. You guys are also pushing it by asking them to open it back up, and prioritize development resources to fix it, which won’t happen. At least not any time soon.
Who knows, maybe they closed it so as to fix it bit by bit, and then open up all the instanced areas in the game. Granted that could be overzealous wishful thinking on my end.
For now, I’ll just say that they’re in the right to close the area. It wasn’t intended to be seen by players, and it wouldn’t be good to have them see something that isn’t working as it should.

I feel the need to quote this, as there are people who seem to not have seen it.

Though I personally feel that the OP should be updated with this information added to it, instead of having it in the middle of a random page within the thread.

You know, from what I read from the article, an interesting LA lesson plan for students that are using Guild Wars 2 as a learning tool could go something along the line of:

1. Start class by explaining that they’ll be creating new characters for the lesson. They will be humans, and can be any profession. Tell them to stop once they get to their character’s biography.
2. Ask them to read the biography carefully and to think about, and write, three additional facts about the character they just made.
3. Once done ask them to start, and finish the tutorial level.
4. After they finish the tutorial, have the students summarize, in their own words, what happened. Who did they speak to? What did they do? How did it end?
5. Once finished, have the students split up into different groups. Each group will then come up with a different task that another group will have to complete within the game. List each step, and explain why they need to do it.
6. When finished, have each group present their quest to the rest of the class. These quests will be distributed at random to each group. The student must then complete the quest.
7. Homework would be to write a full page report on the quest, and to then write up your own quest that the whole class might do during the week.

I don’t know, but it’s something I would do if I were using Guild Wars 2 in LA a class.

Gamification is different than what’s happening here though.
With gamification, your making learning into a game. You “level” up your reading skills, or improve your score by getting better grades on tests and assignments. It’s using game methodology as a tool to make education more of a task that you complete as you would in a game.
What the article entails is the usage of videogames as a supplemental learning tool used in classes. They play the game, and use their experience while playing it during their lessons and assignments.
Both are different, yet involve gaming, which is why I understand how you got confused.

1. Living Story (Direction in story telling and presentation)
2. Class Balance (Support, Conditions, and Defense being overshadowed by raw DPS)
3. Rewards (For all PvE game-types)

I personally find Eagle runes more reliable in terms of its damage multiplier. In essence I know I can have the +10% damage bonus from Scholar a lot longer, and that I can have it deal more damage to multiple sources. Still, as I said before, I’m still not an expert at avoidance, so I do see myself at around half health constantly, meaning I wouldn’t have Scholar up that frequently.

Your crit chance is already pretty high, if you ar not confident with scholar runes, i’d suggest you to go with runes of the ogre or just ruby orbs.

But that’s the point of the build… I want a consistent amount of Crits, and 90% crit chance would give me that. Unless I’m incredibly unlucky.

The build can work fine for WvW if you want it too. I’ve ran pretty much every med dps build possible in WvW. I used them in solo/small groups and in zergs.

You just have to play a bit differently then you’d normally would with shouts. And of course you can’t get these exact stats in PvP because of the gear differences. However you can get some thing similar base on PvP stats.

Well, I’ll admit that I have used this build in WvW, and it was a lot of fun.
Still, I get too nervous with how many conditions can get thrown around during zerg-play. I guess I could use this for smaller skirmishing. I don’t tend to do that while in WvW, so I haven’t had the chance to actually test it out there.

We increased the power of many support skills which weren’t seeing much play. We reworked Purging Flames: it now removes three conditions from allies in an area effect around the guardian on cast while still burning enemies (enemies that enter or exit the flames are still burned). Once the skill has been cast, it then reduces condition duration for allies who remain in the consecration’s area. It’s hawt. Literally. All meditation utility skills are now instant, and monks focus now grants fury on meditation use.

I know, I mentioned it in the OP, but thanks anyway!
Though irregardless of the changes that Meditations are getting in a few days, this was the build I’m to use anyway. I just like the play-style too much. The addition of Fury is just a bonus at this point, which is awesome!

I don’t know if you’re using this more for WvW/PvP or PvE.

If it’s WvW/PvP I would go with Inner Fire. It gives you three seconds of fury every time burning is applied to you. This is probably one of the most underrated traits atm in WvW/PvP. Almost every class now has access to burning, beside thief. You’ll have no problem keeping fury up. CoP is a must with the condition heavy meta atm.

If it’s more PvE. Then Blind Exposure is a better choice, and Merciful Intervention is also fine since conditions isn’t that big of a deal.

Well, I don’t think the gear setup is possible for PvP, as armor doesn’t use stats.
Either way, I am using this for PvE only. I like WvW, but I doubt I’d be able to last long in a zerg with this build. Too low health, and not enough cleansing.
But yeah, I love Blind Exposure for the Vuln spam you can get going with Renewed Justice!

Definitely drop Healer’s Retribution. Not worth it at all, and you have some many better choices to use. Inner Fire, Blind Exposure, Signet Mastery, or Searing Flames are all better.

Merciful Intervention is also really bad. It teleports you to the closest ally regardless of health. Just go with CoP for condition removing.

Whoops! That was supposed to be Blind Exposure, and not Healer’s Retribution.
I personally like using Merciful Intervention as a second heal skill for when things go south. Though I guess more Condition cleansing is a better option.

I suppose what I meant to say by diminishing returns is this: I crit a lot at 75% cc. Pretty much every hit is a crit. I don’t crit that much more at 90%, and I certainly don’t see a huge improvement in the number of crits. For me that’s diminishing returns.

I would rather sit at 75% cc where I crit nearly every hit anyway and invest traits in something else than push for 90%.

Ah! That makes more sense. I can agree with you that the higher you get with Crit Chance, the less you feel the need to get to 100%. Still, I like knowing that I’m going to consistently hit a Crit while fighting, which is why I was contemplating going with full Berserker Trinkets so I could have all my hits Crit while fighting when under the effect of Fury.
Still, I doubt that the change to Focues Mind would, give us perma Fury, and I like having 28k Armor. At the end of the day, I think keeping 70% Crit Chance (90% with Fury) is fine… Though 100% is really tempting~!! (>_<) ’ ’ ’

From my experience you start to see diminishing returns after 75% crit chance. If I could keep 75% up consistently, I wouldn’t bother pushing for anymore.

I don’t think I’ve ever noticed something like that before. I’ll keep my eyes open, and make any changes if there is.

So, I recently went ahead and deiced to rework my guardian’s build.
For the longest time I was running a support-based shout build, but I slowly started veering towards a more offensive set-up. Now that I’m finally at a place where I feel like my build is pretty decent, I was still wondering what the fine folks of the Guardian Sub-Forum have to say about it!

Some things to keep in mind:

1. I’m contemplating switching out the Cavalier trinkets for Berserker, but I’m too nervous about the spike drop in armor. I’m not too confident in my abilities to avoid damage at this point in time…
2. My brain can’t seem to stand percentages that aren’t divisible by 5. I know I can up Critical Damage a bit more, but it’ll bother me too much to do anything that isn’t 100%. Same with my Critical Chance, which it why I’m thinking of getting Berserker rings and a Berserker amulet.
3. With Critical Chance in mind, I’m using Right Handed Strength in this build. With the upcoming change to meditation traits (We’re finally getting access to Fury~!!), I don’t see myself going for anything higher than 80% Critical Chance. It’s a bit counterproductive to have more than 100% Critical Chance at any given moment. At least in my opinion…

So yeah, what do you guys think? Is it any good? Is there anything I can improve on?

There are nine sets in Gem Store, and while I’d like to have more added to the game, I’d prefer it to be in-game rewards.
Don’t get me wrong, I like finding more reasons to throw money at ArenaNet, but I’d also like for there to be more cosmetics to work towards in-game. Also, I know there’s gold-to-gems, but I’m referring to playing content, and not grinding for gold.

Power/Healing Power/Toughness
This is more of an offensive version of Cleric’s gear, which in my opinion would be a nice alternative for people who still want to be offensive while have survivability.

More than anything I want the shield to become viable. The classic look of a sword and shield as well as the shield being the “symbol” of the Guardian just make me drawn to that class. I really hope it gets some adjustments.

The actual weapon isn’t our symbol, it’s Aegis which happens to look like a shield.

Would be nice if you actually showed us what you were wearing, but I will say that you do have too much armor. Somewhere around 3k is what I tend to aim for, but I’m usually ok with less, but that’s just my opinion.

Also, you know it’s ok to wear some Berserker gear. Toting around a whole set is fine too, as it’s a matter of play-style.

I don’t think that giving players acesss to a stat that offers CD reduction would be easy to balance. Though it is an interesting concept.

I think that the main issue here is that Tequatl is the only World boss at the highest difficulty. Once ArenaNet updates the some of the other bosses, or adds new ones, that fit the new standards of difficulty, then you’ll see the people trying to raid spread out more.

• I do my Daily everyday.
• If I’m up for it, I run through a few Jump Puzzles and Mini-Dungeons.
• If I’m up for it, and they happen to be up, I do Orr Temple Events, and maybe some of the other World Bosses.
• I run a few dungeons/Fractals or two a few nights a week with guild mates.
• If there’s a guild setting up a Taco raid, I’ll see if I can hop onto their overflow and pray I don’t DC.
• I work on my character’s builds and appearances.

None of the current Legendary weapons interest me to the point that I feel like I must make one for a character, so no I don’t,

Well, seeing as they’ve released a new mining pick, it isn’t far fetched to say that they’ll release new axes and sickles.

This isn’t an overarching story, and the Meta Achievement can be finished in a single run, not to mention the fact that there’s a holiday festival coming up, and this tend to last a full month.

Have written that, Twilight Assault seems to most likely be a two week release like Tequatl Rising.
