Much better if the epicness of the War of the Gods and the Fall of Abaddon are not reduced to a thirty-min-long, sub-par, Zhaitan 2.0 fractal instead of the God of War magnitude, DLC-length bonus mission it should be made into.

I’d gladly pay the price of 4000 gems if it were to be made a DLC.

That Abaddon guy and why his fall matters

TriggerSad.2597

It matters, but we all pretty much know exactly what happened at the Mouth of Torment.

Nobody knows what happened at Thaumanova…yet.

Don’t even begin. Another asuran ka-boom.
However, even with the knowledge of the past, battle of the Gods is much more intriguing

Another asura kaboom that might shed more light on the orgins of the Elder Dragons, including the knowledge of what they are exactly.

(I believe they are sentient chaos magic born of the Mists, and they were Elder “Demons” first and became dragons later – either by taking physical shape or by finding draconic hosts).

The thing is, I’d rather find that stuff out later in the Personal Story/Full Dungeons, and not a Fractal that, while taking a history book/scroll/table and bring it to life, will just drop it in our face. I want to truth about the dragons to be drawn out a bit more. Abbadon’s past is Guild Wars lore, and not Guild Wars 2 lore, so having a fractal about it would be a nice throwback as opposed to something that can have a larger impact when presented in a better manner.

I highly disagree. It might blow much of the mystery regarding the Six Gods and the reasons for Abaddon’s fall. I’d rather see it pieced together over time by say, exploring and learning the truth in the godly realms, THEN getting the Fall of Abaddon fractal.

Besides, I doubt it can be made as epic as it deserves to be/as it really was (which is probably on par with God of War battles).

And wouldn’t the Abbadon Fractal be a good start. I mean, it’s not like we’ll be seeing the full story, just the last few moments before he gets sealed. You make it sound like we’re going to see where the gods came from, why they came to Tyria, and what made Abbadon do what he did. Thought while we may see the last answered, I doubt the fractal will go so in depth that it’ll tell us everything. That’s insane!

He’s referring to the events that happened in Night Fall, but the Fractal itself will take place way before the story of the original Guild Wars. Back when Abbadon was a god, and not a wannabe Andross.

You are mistaking the things. Mouth of torment is place where Abaddon wast casted down to realm of torment before gw1. and somewhere there was gate of torment in nightfall.
so by using term “mouth of torment” he is making good reference.

You’ve mistaken it with Abaddons Gate which was Nightfall finall mission

and really every gw1 player that was interested in gw1 lore know what exacly happened at the fall of abaddon

Except we don’t know what exactly happened. All we know is the little information that the “history” books in the game tell us, and we’ve been slowly learning that a lot of the information on human history is not fully true.

The Good Citizen vs Money

I don’t understand why businessman = devil in everybody’s mind.

Evon/Anet is not a good businessman. He rips his customers off (RNG Skins)
without delivering a quality product for their money.

Anet should take the skins out of the BLC’s, sell the skins outright, reduce the price to 25-50 gems each, remove items like permanent bank access from the game.

RNG is RNG.
You have a chance at getting what you want, and ArenaNet makes this very clear every opportunity they can get when dealing with these items. Don’t blame the sellers for the buyers’ bad choices.

Will Celestial Gear Be Removed Too?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: TriggerSad.2597

TriggerSad.2597

“We want to remove the choice players are currently being forced to make on their gear: “Do I go with better stats, or better loot?” This isn’t in the spirit of cooperation that Guild Wars 2 is all about. As such, we’ll be removing magic find entirely as an item stat and turning it into account stat that improved the odds of rare drops for all your characters.

You can improve your account magic find through the account achievement reward system and from consumable items found in game. As your magic find increases, it will require more consumables to keep raising it higher. In the near future, we’ll detail the system we’ll use to replace the existing magic find items. Our goal will be to have as little disruption as possible to those who currently own items with a magic find stat on them."

Removing MF as a stat. Celestial will still be the “all stats” gear. MF will be on the accounts instead so you won’t need to stress it on gear in lieu of other stats.

I read the article thank you, and I know that they’re making Magic Find account bound. Though from the sound of it, it looks like the gear itself will be removed. If Celestial itself is just getting its stats changed, then that’s fine.

Though what I’m trying to get at here is, why make a stat-type craftable if it’s going to get changed in a few months time??

Will Celestial Gear Be Removed Too?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: TriggerSad.2597

TriggerSad.2597

Celestial, an existing stat type that was recently made craftable, is time-gated making it take a long time to craft a single piece of the gear. Let alone a full set.
The Celestial stat-type happens to give the wearer access to Magic Find. With the recent reveal that gear with Magic Find on it will be removed from the game, will this mean that Celestial will be removed too? Will that Magic Find itself just be removed, with the points that had gone into it being allocated to the other stats?
I mean, what’s the point of adding a new stat-type if it’ll be removed in the near future? Especially if the way to craft a full set can take well over a month or two.

Diablo III sold over 10 million units in 6 months.

And for how long was D3 in development? Why won’t they just release D4?

Why does Blizzard have to resort to the subscriptionmodel + ingamestore?
The problem with WoW is no one knows how many eastern people play it.

To be honest i have no idea how many play blizzard products, as for Diablo 3 it dead now, but wow wont die even with a subscription, the reason people pay for it? that is simple to answer, around 8 million peeps think the game is worth paying for to play.

One question that comes to my mind is, when Blizzard release Titan and Wow goes free to play, will Gw2 have even the player base that Gw1 has at the moment? i don’t think bad 3d platforming will save it.

Titan went back to the drawing board in case you’re not caught up on current events… it’s still years out now.

Especially when the development team was downsized from what I’ve heard.

Magnus Making A Power-play

I do not dismiss the idea that this is a political power play for Magnus to gain unfair power from, but, theoretically, if it was, wouldn’t Magnus deserve this extra leverage? He is the (lead) defender of Lion’s Arch, a longtime supporter of Destiny’s Edge, and a silent supporter of Anti-Dragon groups I.E. the Pact.

#TeamKiel

While yes, it does seem that giving Magnus more power would be the right choice, would it be the morally correct choice? Also you need to take into consideration how far he is willing to go to protect Lion’s Arch. Vizier Khilbron unknowingly sunk the nation of Orr in an attempt of protecting it from the charr. Though it could be debated that his worshiping of Abbadon could have played a bigger role in the Cataclysm. Still, if Khilbron had been corrupted by Abbadon, or simply a man pushed over the ledge, what’s stopping me from saying that the same could happen to Magnus. He very well could become, or is, a Son of Svanir. We don’t know his full story, just the front that he puts on display. It still stands within reason that giving Magnus more power in the Council is a bad thing.

The Sons of Svanir are a sexist and male-dominated fanatic group. Magnus has great respect for heroes such as Eir and Ellen. Hell, the female members of the Captain’s Council too. To accuse him of something so low…especially after he killed Morgus Lethe and hosted a festival reveling in the defeat of the Elder Dragons. That’s a rather disgusting claim.

((Shame on you Trigger! :P))

That was just an example. :P
Though Magnus could have an agenda that we don’t know about all the same.

Magnus Making A Power-play

in Cutthroat Politics

Posted by: TriggerSad.2597

TriggerSad.2597

“Let’s get these facts straight before it turns into a brawl.

Captain Magnus the Bloody Handed is a member of the Captain’s Council and is in charge of the Lionguard. It was he who placed Captain Ellen Kiel’s name on the ballot, and it was he who made her a “ship” captain by commandeering an Aetherblade airship for her to command. In essence, Kiel becoming a member of the Captain’s Council will be all thanks to Magnus if she were to succeed. Though why would he want her as a member?

Ellen Kiel is by all means is a well respected citizen of Lion’s Arch, and a reputable officer of the Lionguard. She is a hero by all accounts, but what has she done to deserve this title? Yes, on paper, it was she who lead the efforts to take control of Southsun Cove during our first trip to the not-so-paradise island. It was she who discovered and assisted in the capturing of Canach during our second trip to the island while keeping the peace between the refugees and Consortium members. It also seems as though she was the one responsible for destroying the documentation that had the refugees in Sounthsun under Consortium slavery. She was the one that lead the charge and assisted in the capturing of Mai Trin, captain of the Aetherblades. By all accounts she did great, but she didn’t do it all.

Tyrian adventurers for the most part did a lot of the work during our two trips to Sounthsun Cove. While Kiel did command the efforts, she didn’t do much more in figuring out it was Canach that enraged the wild life. If anything, she came upon this fact by chance when a disgruntled assistant of Canach spilled the beans. Not to mention that it was Marjory Delaqua who was the one that discovered that it was Mai who planned the assassination of Captain’s Council member Theo Ashford. All in all, while she was of help, she didn’t really do a lot of the work. At least in front of the general public.

Now we’ve all seen how Kiel acts in general. She isn’t all that great with people, and she would much rather work than do much of anything else. She doesn’t have much confidence in being able to get the trade agreement with the Zephyrites, confiding about her uneasiness to close confidants when spoken to her. She’s a workaholic and doesn’t have much of a social life because of it, so trying to broker a trade deal with a group of people that can become un-trusting rather quickly won’t be easy for her.

All of this makes some wonder why it would benefit Magnus to have her take a seat in the Council. It’s simple really; Another Lionguard will have a vote. A Lionguard that has followed his orders with not much questions in the past. She was very quick in giving in to his plan of registering her for the election, and she agreed rather quickly to his plan with the Zephyrites. He can gain her favor with ease, and that’s something he can use to his advantage.

So there you have it. A vote for Ellen Kiel is a vote for having a power hungry norn take more control."

what's happened to Queensdale?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: TriggerSad.2597

TriggerSad.2597

If you had complained about trolling and prepubescent immaturity in Queensdale, I would have to agree with you. However, that was not the stated problem. In what sense do they have a routine that must be followed? Champ is up; kill champ. There’s really is nothing to follow. And, what could they possibly brow-beat you for?

Being rude to those that interrupt their circuit? What exactly is there to interrupt? Again, champ is up or ready to be up, you initiate, you kill champ. The only thing problems I’ve noticed with Queensdale is overflow and that fact that that’s where the pre-teens play. I only go there for SB or to build my block list if I feel it’s getting a bit short.

Two of the champion events in Queensdale can be activated by players; the Champion Boar and the Champion Troll. The farmers always try to coincide these two events with other Champion Events, or naturally spawning champions, in order to maximize their productivity. From what I’ve seen, they try to time it so the events go in order of:

Troll then Bandit => Spider then Boar/Wasp => Oakheart

These three groups can be done in any order, depending on when they were killed, but the farmers try to time their spawns in order to get the group up in that fashion. So it isn’t that they just spawn, it’s that farmers are making it so they spawn when they want. If a player who doesn’t know, or care for that matter, they may end up getting chastised for doing their own thing.

As much as I want to fight Abbadon again, I’d rather have a better person in the position and (most likely) a better relationship with the Zypherites.

Though the thing about Kiel is that she’s a bit of a push over. She didn’t really decide on her own to run for office, Magnus basically ordered her to do it. She didn’t get the ship on her own, Magnus gave it to her after the players that took part in Sky Pirates of Tyria.

If anything, I see this as Magnus possibly making a power play, and using Kiel to do it.

Lowered Waypoint Costs Only For Four Weeks

I still feel like the discussion about who to vote on should not be based on BLC or WP.
It’s the fractals and what we want to see in the game.
I agree that WP>BLC but in the big picture it’s more BLC/WP<Fractals.

People will save a few golds in one month but if you take one hour farm in CoF p1. You’ll pretty much earn back all the ’’lost’’ gold.

Honestly that’s the way I see it too. The sales are temporary, and a nice intensive, but it’s the content that stays that matters. Either Evon or Kiel will give us a new Fractal and a set of mini-games. It’s that stuff that we should be looking at in terms of what we want in the game.

Lowered Waypoint Costs Only For Four Weeks

in Cutthroat Politics

TriggerSad.2597

Now before people start to get on top of me by saying they know how to read, I’d like to point out that not a lot of people are repeating the information about this properly.

The reduced price on Waypoint costs will only be around for four weeks, and yet I’m seeing people post about it as if it were a permanent part of the game. It’s not.
It’ll only be here for the month of August, and then things will go back to being the way they always were. Same with the discount on keys; that too will go away after four weeks.

I’d just like to ask people to write these facts down properly, as it could become misleading to those who have not/aren’t going to read the release page. This could then result in less “he said, she said,” which would just make a mess out of things.

Now I know this could be obvious to some, and very obvious to others, but it’s still a nice thing to keep in mind when referring to the temporary reduction on Waypoint cost/Blacklion Key sale.

When either one of them wins

Except we know what happened with the reactor.

A group of Inquest agents had a lab underneath the reactor. They made an error, resulting in their experiment to explode, which then caused the reactor itself to explode long with it. While we don’t know what the experiment was exactly, it’s all the same same asura techno stuff.

I mean, asura doing things that blow up is overly common in this game. A good portion of the events in Metrica (the zone the reactor is located in) involve us having to deal with asuran experiments gone awry. It’s getting kind of old here, at least for me… :/

A Vote for Evon is a Vote for RNG!

TriggerSad.2597

Everyone does realize that if Keil wins, the Cheaper Waypoints is only temporary, right?

Vote Evon, Fall of Abbaddon, if you want Thermanova, go to Metrica Province, it’s already there.

You want the Fall of ABbaddon go play GW1 Nightfall.

#Vote Kiel, cheaper waypoint > supporting RNG cash boxes.

Night Fall has the death of Abbadon, not his fall. Not when he was imprisoned in the Realm of Torment. Not when the Crystal Sea was dried and turned into a desert. The fall of Abbadon was an all out brawl between himself and the other human gods. I’m sorry, but this beats an Inquest experiment gone wrong.

So vote Evon Gnashblade!!!

The Fall of Abbadon

I hope it’s the battle between Grenth and Abbaddon and not just the final mission of Nightfall.

I think you’re confusing Dhuum with Abbadon. Grenth fought Dhuum to gain his place as the new god of death. It took all five gods to seal Abbadon within the Realm of Torment. Seriously, if it’s the sealing that we’re going to be seeing in the Fractal…

I’ll vote Evon ’till the end of time!!!

Cheaper waypoints > milking Nostalgia.

Vote Kiel for the future!

Except that it’ll only be cheaper for four weeks, as opposed to the Abbadon Fractal that’ll be around for way WAY longer.

Off-hand Sword

in Guardian

Posted by: TriggerSad.2597

TriggerSad.2597

As much as I would love off-hand sword, it just does not really fit the whole devout psuedo-holy warrior concept of gaurdian. Also, i dont think either skill would really work, as the last thing we need is more defensive abilities, and also 2/3 of our offhands are more defensive in nature anyways.

I can see where you’re coming from with this, but the guardian also has the ability to become a zealot, which has some connotations to being very offensive oriented. The idea of a s/s guardian would fit then. And I agree that an off-hand sword would need to be more offensive, I just like the idea of a guardian that can teleport in and out of battle (I’m a meditations guardian, so I LOVE the zipping all over the place).

I want a Main hand shield
Double Shield!

lol This post brings me back to when the guardian had been revealed yet, and people had dubbed it the BML (Blue Mace Lady, and this was due to the only concept art that we had of it being a female humanoid wielding a mace and shield). Dual-wielding shields does sound like a lot of fun!!

Skill 4a: Zealous Retreat – Block the next attack. If blocked, the user is teleported away blinding nearby foes.
Skill 5: Wrathful Wave – The user spins around once, striking each foe with greater intensity as he spins.

I always support more weapons for any class. I especially like the idea of Zealous Retreat but I do remember some Devs in a video explaining they purposefully have given Guardians several ways to jump into a fight but not out of one.

It must be one of their philosophies for the class which I don’t mind calling stupid. Mobility is King in this game, what good is a philosophy if its not practical.

I actually forgot about that!! Yeah… Guess a skill that has you leaving the battlefield as opposed to staying in the fray isn’t very guardian-like…

I would prefer an off-hand mace with skills like a single target pull (900 range) to the guardian and a spin attacks with extendible mace-heads animation.

I like the idea of an off-hand mace too! Though I’d personally see it as a pure defense melee weapons to help synergies with the main-hand mace, while giving the sword a better melee companion. Focus works well, but it can easily be used offensively while in a fight, and shield… I’ve always seen shield as a more ranged defense/support off-hand.

Pickup Completionist

in Bazaar of the Four Winds

Posted by: TriggerSad.2597

TriggerSad.2597

Hey guys,

In order to earn this achievement, you will have to hit someone with the offensive skills. You can’t just fire them off into the ether willy nilly.

Wouldn’t a better description of the Achievement be;
In Sanctum Sprint, hit other players with every possible pickup item at least once.

Not all the skills can hit people though. Grounded isn’t an offensive skill, and you need it for the achievement too.

Future of RNG in GW?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: TriggerSad.2597

TriggerSad.2597

I guarantee you people will still be unsatisfied and will complain.

“you people”……..really? This kind of attitude is just as toxic as all the complainers. Maybe more so.

I suspect he meant “I guarantee you that people will still be unsatisfied and will complain.”

^

It’s all semantics and I could have said “I guarantee that people will still be unsatisfied” But either way is fine. But the inclusion of “you” just makes it more informal.

Then you needed to put a semicolon after “you,” but that’s besides the point.

Anyway, I’m glad that we’re seeing a change going forward in terms of how the RNG chests are going to work going forward. Granted, we’ll have to see how this plays out when the update goes live tomorrow.

You have 75% crit chance, that means that 25% of the time you won’t crit. It just so happens that when you use Final Thrust, you happen to roll that 25%. Remember, you have a chance to crit, not a guarantee to crit.

As Verene said, there are other stat combos that still don’t have an ascended version available to us. I myself use Sentinel stat items on my armor. I know that ascended items aren’t available to armor yet, but with this current trend, I’m a bit worried that I won’t be seeing it if/when it does become available…
