That being said, this change is going to be strong, but at the same time it’ll have to depend on how long the Fury is going to last. I mean, if it’s two seconds, with someone pooping all three meditations on them (which would be silly imo), they still won’t get as much Fury up time as other professions with access to it.

Guys, it’s a typo. I more than sure that Sharp meant to write Focused Mind instead of Monk’s Focus.
Currently Focused Mind makes all meditations into instant casts, which will become redundant once the change hits. Meaning that when traited, meditations will now heal and grant the user Fury. Yes!

I think he meant to write Focused Mind, since that trait would become redundant to the change to meditations. It currently makes all meditations instant casts.

Either way, as a Meditations guardian, I’m beyond stoked to see these changes being added to my play-style~!

There are listings under achievements for both “Daily” and “PvP Daily”. In the last 5 days, at least, quite a few of the daily achievements you could choose from for the supposedly PVE daily take place in The Mists, which according to the Wiki, is the staging area for PvP.

On only one of those 5 days was I able to select 5 achievements which were completely PvE. Well, let me be frank — there was an option for “Activities” which I could not find out constitutes an “Activity”. I believe that all 5 days I could have completed the “Activities” IF I knew what they were.

I still stand by my statement that there should not be so many achievements accomplished in a PvP area listed under what is supposed to be PvE Dailies.

I don’t care about busy work. That’s not a problem, but don’t send me to a PvP area to do PvE. Thanks.

You’re referring to the WvW Daily Achievements, which are mixed with PvE because the two game types overlap in what it is you can do in both. The only real difference is that in WvW you can kill other players. They’re fine where they are imo.
Though I still don’t see how you’re unable to complete your Daily Achievements without stepping foot inside WvW. I have never had to play in WvW to get a Daily done unless I’ve chosen to do so.

The “Activities” as pointed out by other posters are past mini-games, ArenaNet had released during holiday celebrations, which can be accessed by an NPC in Lion’s Arch. She stands near the bridge leading to the Asuran Portals that take you to the racial capitals.

Not really. The story isn’t a continuation of the first as there isn’t much of anything connecting the two together. We do have the interactions with Primordus in Eye of the North, but we don’t ever see that in Guild Wars 2. At all save for a Meta event in Mount Maelstrom and one small section of Kessex and Brisban.
We do see it with the Elder Dragons in general, but that in it of itself isn’t a very strong connection to tie the two together. Dragons were never a threat in Guild Wars, it was the conflict that the human gods had with one another that was the story behind the first series of games.

Gameplay-wise… There is nothing in Guild Wars 2 that screams “This is Guild Wars!”
From the profession system to how combat works, nothing in Guild Wars 2 give players a sense that they are playing a Guild Wars tittle. Nothing.

PvP and PvE Daily Achievements have been split into their own separate categories, meaning that doing one from one category should not affect the other, or am I wrong?
If I am, and since you don’t like to take part in PvP, then there shouldn’t be any reason for you to be doing the PvP Daily…

Also, the PvE Daily doesn’t take that much time to do. It could be considered busy work on certain days, but they’re still never a complicated thing to accomplish.

I would love it if there were a sort of hunter-esc norn NPC you can talk to LA that says he like going out and look for strong enemies to conquer. You can then ask him if you can tag along on his endeavors, which he will gladly agree with (we are kitten heroes after all). A window will then appear that has all the Meta Bosses available that’d we’d like to keep an eye on. We can then select which Meta we’d like to do, and whenever it pops up on our home server, the norn NPC “sends” us a letter telling us that it’s up with a button that points us the the nearest available waypoint on the map.

Alternatively, having a town crier that yells out warnings about all the Meta Bosses would be cool too. They could hang out in LA and all the major cities.

From the release page, it states that other World Bosses are going to get updates as well.
From what I’ve been seeing around the forums, in-game, and from friends, a lot of people seem to be under the impression that the changed bosses may be releasing updates similar, if not exactly the same as, to that of Tequatl… Am I the only one that didn’t interpret it as this?

I mean, I doubt that the team in charge of changing Tequatl had the time, and resources, to change every boss in a similar fashion since they most likely were focusing on just Tequatl. Maybe they fixed the scaling, or added a few new mechanics at best, but to overhaul everything… I don’t think so…

Anyway, I just wanted to make this thread to point this out, and to see what everyone else thinks… I doubt this is going to be a case of everybody setting their expectations too high, but you never know with this being the internet and all… :X

You didn’t really read what people wrote, and showed you, did you?
Human guild versus human guilds fought among one another during the Guild Wars. That stopped once all of humanity realized that the charr were an actual threat to their civilization. Charr legions are not guilds, they are factions within charr society that took shape once the original leader of the charr dies, and his children fought one another to take his place.

“Guild Wars 2,” was only used as a marketing strategy to get players of the original game to buy this one. Guild Wars 2 was never going to be a successor of Guild Wars, as the two are vastly different. Even Guild Wars 2’s story makes no real connection to the first game, save for the fact that the enemy from the first, and last, Guild Wars expansion is one we sometimes see now. That being Primordus’ minions, with whom we haven’t even fought against.

GvG, the game type itself, wasn’t the driving factor of this game. It never was. Marketing was, which is why we have this game called Guild Wars 2. It’s a shame really, because a lot of this confusion would have been cleared had ArenaNet decided to name this MMO a different name, as I personally believe it should have been.

There’s a problem with your plan, and that’s the fact that no one in their right mind would sell an Ascended weapon. The primary way of getting them is through spending gold, or grinding like a crazy person to get the mats. Rings however don’t require as much of a grind to obtain. Not only that, but your more likely to get a ring as a drop than a weapon.

In my opinion, the current way we have it set is fine due to how “common” the rings are in juxtaposed to weapons.

You can’t have different characters on different servers in this game.
You tie your account onto a single server when you first start the game, and from then on you make all your characters onto that server. You can, however, guest onto two/three other servers within a 24 hour time period.

As to your question, I’m on the American server cluster, so I wouldn’t know…

Currently, we have two threads that seem to pop up on the front page of Guild Wars 2 Discussion, and they are the “Rate the Character Above You” thread (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Rate-the-looks-of-the-person-above-you/first), and the “Mix-an-Match” thread (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Post-a-pic-of-your-character-only-if-your-armor-is-mix-n-match/first). We also have several “Showoff Your Character” threads in the different racial and profession sub-forums. While these threads have served their purpose well, I do think having all them in a single sub-forums would be better.

Right now, if a player wants advice on how to dress their character, what dyes to use, or wants critiques on what they’ve assembled, they don’t really have a specific location to do so. Same if a player wants to give a character a makeover, or they want to start from scratch with a character, they don’t really have a place where they can go to talk specifically about their own character’s appearance. Maybe they don’t want to talk about character appearances specifically, but about a way certain dye colors affect a type of material, and what color would serve best for their needs. They could take this to Guild Wars 2 Discussion, but why take it to a general thread (especially one that’s more or less a place where people go to talk about the game as a whole) when they could have a nice sub-forum dedicated to character customization.

What do you guys think? Should players wanting to talk about their character’s looks, or is the current system fine?
I personally don’t think so, but that is why I’m making this thread! xD

I think fractles were the answer to that although I would even leave PvP for once if FoW and UW showed their faces again.

I think the problem with introducing FoW and UW is mainly due in part to how human heavy the areas are. If the introduced those two zones, and dubbed them end-game zones, then they’re saying that all other racial lore is irrelevant. Mind you, that they haven’t done much of a good job at keep all the races in the limelight.

Still, adding those two zones in particular wouldn’t be the best option, but adding similar zones would be pretty neat.

Well, I played a monk in Guild Wars, and the guardian was the closest thing to one, but without the dedicated healing route that I hated about the monk.
Throughout my entire time playing Guild Wars, I always tried to make a decent smite monk, and although I loved me dem Jesus Beams, however I could never really find that much diversity in build making. There was only one decent build, RoJ spam, and that’s it. Almost all of the Smite skills the monk possessed were very underwhelming. It honestly left me feeling very disappointed with that aspect of the profession.

Cut to Guild Wars 2, and the guardian was everything I had hoped for with the monk. A powerful holy warrior that can dish out some good damage, while still being helpful to his/her teammates. I may have switched to a full Meditations build with my guardian, ergo removing almost all of my support, but the damage I can deal is still something that makes me glad I chose the profession!

I love the dark mage look you’ve going on with your asura. My main issue is the dye your using is removing some of the details from the armor. It’s making it look kind of bland. Granted, I will say that dying sylvari-themed armor can be tricky in that you get random colors that aren’t close to the dye you actually used… Or is that a sylvari-only problem when it comes to plant armor? (I know that out skin tones affect armor, but there are some dyes that get some odd effects on these sets.)

Anyway, here’s my main sylvari guardian!
I didn’t go for the regular plant-theme with him due to being bored of it (I was using a mix of T1 and Whispers for a long time). I might go back to it some day, but for now I’m sticking with this!

I don’t know whether to be creeped out by what I just read, or… Actually I think I’ll just be creeped out… :/

Well, if you’re thinkign of going for a DPS guardian, you can always roll as a charr. They have a racial that gives you access to Fury, something the guardian doesn’t reliably have.

Yeah, there’s “Save Yourselves!” but that also pulls any and all conditions… which is something that can be a big hindrance for what could be a very flimsy build.

Over the course of the last two months, I have been weening myself off of a tanky/support guardian speck into one that’s more offensive. Now this is what I’m currently working with:

It’s not that bad I think. It’s pretty much a basic Meditations build, only I have ten points invested into Honor instead of Zeal. I do this mainly for the CD reduction on shouts trait for whenever I feel like using Retreat (Extra Aegis and a speed boost FTW~!!).

Though I don’t really feel all that strong with it tbh. I know I can use more of an offensive push in terms of gear, so I’ve decided to pursue this setup!

Now, I know I could go full Berserker gear, but I don’t really think that the extra Precision would be worth it. I mean, I get a 15% crit chance boost from Right-handed Strength already. I could try to get as close to 100% as I can, but without any good access to Fury, I don’t see that being possible. Also, I’m a total coward and need the Vitality to make me sleep at night. Which is why I’m being a masochist by considering getting Sentinel leggings… I just generally hate myself. :P

Anyway, I was wondering what you guys think?
Now, I know we’ll be getting Ascended armor and weapons by the end of the year, so doing this big a change would be a bit iffy, especially with my thinking of getting Sentinel gear. I guess you could say that this is more along the lines of a blueprint for what Ascended Equipment I might possibly get. I don’t know…

I like the strong norn guardian vibe I got form the color scheme and weapons.
Personally, I’ve always liked it when a guardian can make a color scheme that isn’t blue and white work out well! I feel like the armor pieces and dye you chose really give off the feelt hat you wanted with your guardian really well!

Anyway, here’s my ele who is supposed to be the ancestor of my Night Fall elementalist. She was a Krytan whose family ran a trade business dealing with Vabbian goods. Anyway, to make a long story short, my ele marries a Sunspear, and when her future generations left Elona due to Joko, they took with them their teaching of the Sunspear ways.

My ele is a worshiper of Kormir (sorry guys, but I went there), and with her background, I decided to go with a Sunspear inspired look. How did I do??

Actually the way the question is phrased shows a lack of understanding. You can have a whole lot more than five characters…but you can’t have them per server. In Guild Wars 2, all your characters, however many you have, will be on the same server.

Your account is tied to a single server, meaning that any and all characters you make while always be on your chosen server. You can guest to other servers for a limited time, but you will always have one server to call home.

Wrong Hammer. Entropy uses the skin the Arch Diviner’s hammer uses in the Colossal Fractal. You can even see the icon in the screen shot.

My best guess is because it would have screwed with the rows on the currency window…

Though in all seriousness, you only get one Pristine Relic once per day per character per 10th Fractal Level. The average player would get at most two to four. Granted that’s just a guess. Still, I would have preferred it if they had been added to the wallet.

Remember, we do have a temple that was once dedicated to him in Straits of Devestation, maybe the Living Story will bring us there some day…

That temple is used for one PS quest.. that’s it.

It’s not quite the same as being able to experience something that for as far as we can tell, remains only on a wiki page and our imaginations for good.

And they can’t reuse the temple in the future? I mean, they’ve made it clear that they’ll be reusing the Queen’s Arena, Labyrinth Cliff’s, and other festival locations for events. Why not reuse areas that were only available in the Personal Story?

My prediction:
Logan acts like an overly attached girlfr- I mean boyfriend, gets jealous of Jenna interacting with other men, and runs off in the middle of a dance as Jenna doesn’t even notice. It’s then up to us, with Rox and Braham’s help, to go look for Logan via an overworld scavenger hunt.
The hunt will have us wander around all of Kryta as we find “clues” involving empty bottles of liquor, poorly written love songs/poems, flowers with the petals plucked out, and some crude drawings of the queen. (Note: the drawings should have Jenna positioned like one of our many French girls.) The hunt leads us to LA and through the Black Citadel portal where we find Logan belligerent with Rytlock, QQing into the charr’s arms. Rytlock takes this time to tell Logan how much of a cow Jenna is, and that they should just go fishing out by the lake and do bro stuff.
Anyway, we get Logan back, and find Jenna not having realized that Logan was gone in the first place.

Oh! Though she did remember that Logan had offered her a dance at the start of the quest. He lovingly takes her into his arms and they dance the night away.

The end.

The only ties Faren had with Kasmeer was trying to get into her bikini. I don’t really think he’ll be playing much of bigger role in the future except for a cameo or two. Though I’d personally would like to see more characters from the Personal Story pooping up besides Faren. I’d love to see what Malyck is up to, even though I doubt we’ll see him anytime soon… :<

For one, the recipe is a chance drop. Secondly, the costs to craft them will be costly.
I don’t think this’ll be such a big game changer tbh…

They’re pointless how? You need the stuff to craft Sentinel armor, and that stuff’s been getting expensive. Are stats on it useful? That’s debatable, but there are probably people out there that would like to have it.

I think an off-hand sword would serve as a good offensive support off-hand. This is something I think we lack.

Attack 4: Righteous Slash: Teleports to target, attacks (0.2 coefficient) applies 5 stacks of vulnerability for 10 seconds. 20 second coolodwn.
Attack 5: Furious Flames: AoE attack (1 coefficient) that can hit up to 5 enemies 600 ranged, apply 3 seconds of burning, and 5 seconds of fury on Allies. 35 second cooldown.

I like the idea of Furious Flames, but I’m not really up for having the off-hand sword be a ranged weapon. I’d rather prefer it be treated as a pure melee weapon. I mean out other off-hands already have ranged based attacks: Focus has RoK, Shield has Shield of Judgment (though it is a rather short-range attack), and both of the torches skills offer ranged attacks.
