I personally strongly disagree and think the mechanics are fine as they are.
Well making a weapon rack bleed is kind of….unreal?
And a burning flame elemental is completely logical?
As far as magically created constructs go, yes. But you still can’t get blood from a rock.
Mesmer. This was my favorite in the original GW, and remains so in GW2 easily. I’ve liked the others so far except the thief, just haven’t the feel for it yet, but my clones… they get me man!
Mesmer favorite song: “I think I’m a clone now”
Dang… I just got that.
Very true. What server are you on, if I may ask?
I’m on Devona’s Rest currently but wouldn’t mind switching to another one because nothing really happening there for me
Well, if you happen to choose Dragonbrand you can look up FIRE, we’re a good group (non-biased opinion, of course). Jade Quarry is another good server, and I’d personally recommend checking out EMP on that server. I’m sure others will have other suggestions as well.
Don’t worry about mesmers getting torment if those patch notes are correct. The application is trash on a melee counter ability. Underwhelming changes for many classes and quite a bit of nerfs hidden in there even to classes that are weak… lol @ warrior leg specialist.
Yeah, if they’re correct you’ll rarely if ever see torment from a mesmer.
You know where it would make sense? Great sword 3. A giant sword coming out of the ground to stab you up between the legs… if that’s not tormenting then I don’t know what is.
Yeah but GS is a power weapon, not condition damage so you wouldn’t get much benefit from it.
Ah, right, good point. I was just thinking of the aesthetics of it all.
But wait… (edit), the GS is also a distance weapon, intending to keep you from the enemy, ideally near max range. In that line of thought torment would go quite well with it.
What server you’re on matters. Find a good guild on the server and you’ll have plenty to play along side of.
Every server has good guilds but on this game its especially hard because there are no guild lists and you have to find the right one for yourself.
Very true. What server are you on, if I may ask?
…you dodge roll in another game… :P
Try to dodge roll in other games. Fail. Leave the game in disgust.
Been there.
One day it came to pass that Trahearne was finally captured by the Orrians, bound up and tossed into the bottomless pit of despair. His last words can still be heard echoing up from the depths… “This well won’t end!”
I admit… I often say “This won’t end well” and notice that no one seems to get it.

What exactly is tethering? The potential #5 DS skill states this:
Death shroud: New ability #5 – Dark Binding: You tether all enemies within a 600 range, constantly dealing Torment to them over time. At the end of the cast, Dark Binding immobilizes all affected enemies still within the radius.
Are they tethered to a spot or to the necro? If the necro jumps off a cliff…
Tether links you to one or multiple enemies, and at a certain range it breaks and the skill ends. I usually hate referencing other games, but look up Morgana from League of Legends. Her ultimate is pretty similar to this skill.
Ah, so it’s more like an energy string that can break as opposed to a physical attachment that would allow you to, say, jump off a cliff and take them with you.
That’s too bad.

The big difference as I see it is that ascended gear isn’t comparable to tiered gear in earlier MMOs. In WoW, a tier was like taking an elevator to a whole new floor. In GW2, ascended gear is like putting on high heels. Yes, you’re a couple inches higher, but Tonya Harding can still equip a main-hand baseball bat and take you out at the kneecaps.
Good for you.
Now stop complaining and let those of us who enjoy a changing world play it.
It’s not that I don’t enjoy it, but I want to do it at my own pace. I don’t think that’s too much to ask.
The world keeps it’s own pace. If it didn’t, my daughter would not be closing in on being a teenager. (That poof sound you may have just heard was another hair turning gray.)
Be careful what you give to a mesmer.
They like to give things back.
Any updates to the fractals will need to include additional update to the reward systems as well, agreed.
As for the jet pack, those specific rewards are intended as limited rewards you can only earn during that time, thus making them valuable. It wouldn’t be fair to the people who did earn jet packs for us to bring them back, and suddenly undercut their value entirely.
And yeah that F&F dungeon updated for size would make a good fractal wouldn’t it? =)
You know, Colin, a different jet pack would be a lovely substitute in that case…
Dear ArenaNet.
More steam-punk is good.
I love you.

To your point I don’t believe us DB guilds made a concerted push on MAG bl this week – no real reason why. Maybe we can do that tonight – also to your point very impressed with PYRO, ILL and other forces we ran into on the map when he have put groups on the map
Do you think PYRO has recovered from our nekkidness last night?
Mortar mastery… Oh, daddy likes this.
Maybe 99.5%
You guys are fine. This week wasn’t too bad anyway.
Question for DB. Why is there never any green in Mag BL? Are they really strong on their home BL or are you guys avoiding it this week?
With these “Blowouts” matches we haven’t been able to rally enough forces to man all of the maps. And when we do get an organized 20 – 30. Mag has very effective coordinated forces to counter groups that size. Just what I have observed, at least during NA time we just need more people on. Hope that gives you some perspective Furious beard.
Friday we had queues on all maps, and long ones too. But once the lead got to be large people went off to do other things, like earn their wings or the like. (Mine look HAWT, by the way.) There’s so much potential for DB to really be one of the dominant WvW servers on a regular basis and not just one night a week.
Hey, guys and dolls… this is for you.
I’m a jumper.
When he plays GW2, he becomes the flavor of the month.
He is… the most interesting Asura in Tyria.
That was GREAT! Gumshoes, dames, … like a recent Warehouse 13 episode I saw…
Sever Wars.
It’s a cut above the rest.
Ah Tengu. You know, that sounds close enough to rhyming with haiku that…
Tengu fall in love
Muffled words spoke in the night
You taste like chicken
Hmm… so I either need to rethink that trait or squeeze a little more F4 into my life.
On my mesmer I had grabbed the trait that gives reflection to distortion with the expectation that this would apply to Blurred Frenzy. Well, it doesn’t <insert sad panda face here>, so before I go looking foolish in the Bug report area, are these distinctly different, Blur and Distortion? When I look them up the line seems a bit <forgive me> blurred.
Since you’ll have likely plenty of time, welcome to the forums! And of course GW2.
Lots of potential opportunities for griefing with fireworks unfortunately. Makes sense to not have them in there.
This is the ultimate reason for it. If we could do it in a way that wouldn’t adversely impact the gameplay of others, we would, but it’s not possible at the current time. Hopefully we can find a way to do it in the future, but for now you can’t use them in WvW for that very reason.
I don’t quite get it… They are the exact same fireworks as the original ones. Why allow one and not the other? The only reason I can imagine is that the dragon bash ones are “easier” to obtain.
And to be honest, anything can be used to grief. Might as well ban siege weapons, or transformation tonics. Or what about the most obvious, the emotes? I’m pretty sure people would grief with emotes a lot more than with fireworks.
We did some internal testing with these and you can definitely detect lowered framerates the more of these you see in an area. If you follow the pretty obvious logical train there, people will use them to adversely affect the experience of other players, intentionally. I’d love to allow all this stuff to work in WvW, but sometimes we have to take a heavy hand to stop people from being jerks to each other.
As much as I personally don’t like the decision… thanks. It makes sense.
A mesmer can create phantasms and clones with his mind, an elementalist can “ride the lightning” into a group of foes and send them flying, a guardian can create magical walls of energy… yet people are worrying about the real life physics of arrows?
These forums are so tsundere~
Yeah… ok… I admit it.
I had to go look that up.
Oh, and by the way, I prefer Dwagonband. I like the play of words in there.
Stuffed plushy quaggan that talks when you squeeze it.
For my daughter, of course.
Have a group that doesn’t approve drop a handful of ACs in a tower and wait for the loot bags to arrive.
NNK is so try-hard at this game. lmao Sending 40-60 man zergs at a map with less than 20 players on it wherever white swords are. We’re just wxp farming and ducking your stupid zerg ball. Then there’s SONG that stacks in the field and portal bombs the side of a tower and doesn’t accomplish anything but a dead mesmer.
SO GOOD
So tell me… how many people should we tell aren’t allowed to join the fight and which ones should we select to stand by and watch while others have the fun?
You think that’s a zerg ball? You have no clue what you’re talking about. When you’re out there and see a rolling wave of 80+ BG coming on one side and a similar group of SoR on the other and time nearly stops due to skill lag while the little hairs stand up on your forearms and you think “I got this…” then you can come and tell us about being hit by zerg balls. On JQ, 40 BG or SoR was a havoc squad.
Anyone not getting the achievement, did you already get it from the bugged instance where people would get it just by being in the instance? A lot of helms out there already because of that…
Interesting thought… if there’s a constant 70 min. day and 40 minute night that means that the planet is somehow tidally locked with its parent star in a polar fashion, such that the north pole always remains tilted at the same angle with respect to the star. This keeps the star directly over the equator always with no variability… no “Tropic of Cancer/ Tropic of Capricorn” type of scenario. No seasons, basically. You could travel to the same latitude in the southern hemisphere and find constant 40 minute days, 70 minute nights.
Could be the basis for some interesting flora and fauna…
Imagine if the Shatterer sees the holo-Shatterer and swings by L.A. looking for love?
I think when they make an interesting set of skins, it should be relatively easy to get one of them, and take more effort (or, sigh, luck) to get more. One might still have to agonize over which one to get, but at least feel they got something from the event.
I have no issue at all with every single person having the cool looking thing I have. It has boggled my mind in every MMO that people kvetch about someone else having their neat thing. It’s all in how you use it, hey? Then again I don’t covet my neighbor’s goods RL or get upset when they have a nice thing that I don’t.
So let everyone have a good solid chance at the fun items, and make it rarer to get piles of them.
Look at you being all reasonable and the like. Nicely put.
Let me explain how this works.
The firework event cycle (them happening every two hours) was started at 9:00 AM PDT. The event itself is tied to the ingame time and will happen at dawn (ingame). So your fireworks might not have happened yet, as it is not dawn ingame.
Apologies for us not communicating this more clearly. But the fireworks will happen every two hours over the course of the weekend, so plenty of time to marvel at them and get the achievement.
Martin, I’m still at work and haven’t had a chance to get home and log in yet, but there have been no fireworks at my work, could you fix that please?
Do I win the “most impatient post” award?
What do you all want? Seriously, what would make you all happy? If the skins were more common and everyone was running around with all the jade weapons they could pick their teeth with, would that be a good thing or a bad thing?
Look what we’re getting right now… we’re all getting the helms for minimal effort at all… watch fireworks this weekend and there you go. We all are getting shattered wings for completing the achievements which we seem to have a full month to do, so no excuses there. You can even buy the other wings directly if you wish. So what’s ultimately somewhat rare… the weapon skins. A couple days into this month long event we’re seeing that it could take hundreds or maybe for some thousands of coffers to get a skin. Yet… these few days in and people are already having access to hundreds and thousands of coffers to open. Over the course of a month you could easily have access to what… five thousand, ten thousand coffers (if they drop the whole time)?
Where’s the fine line between keeping something worth pursuing because it’s rare and flooding the market thus cheapening the item in the eyes of many? How rare or common, in your opinions, should the skins be to make you happy? Please be polite, you never know who may read your answer.
opened 1000 too look vid:
Very nice, grats! Four in 1000 chests, not bad at all.
This is a good change. It makes it more difficult for someone who’s a bit faster to clean the nodes before others can even get a single hit in. I recommended doubling their health, not sure what the actual increase was, but it’s about right now. The invulnerability is a nice touch, it lets the melee types have a chance compared to the AoE ground target crowd.
You have already answered how it is possible that some people already have it – they have it from drops. Not from merchant.
Which would make the whining about the cost from the merchant rather silly, don’t you think?
Since clearly it is possible to get it in other ways.
This is the point where the thread should die. We know two things for certain…
1. You can definitely get the wings by other means.
2. There definitely may or may not be another means to get Jorbreakers that hasn’t been introduced yet.
Is it a forge ingredient?
Does anyone who’s complaining realize that this isn’t the only way to get the wings? Just curious.
Addendum: These Jorbreakers… we have no idea either whether or not added content to come will drop those. It’s possible that the 1000 per Jorbreaker is simply there to supplement another means of getting Jorbreakers for those who wind up close but not quite there.
