Like if thieves didn’t had weapons enough…
Yay for more stealth and cowardly backstabbing…
Though battleaxes could be nice, since warriors and guardians tend to be a bit…well, not very scary.
Thieves have a total of 4 different weapons they can use (not counting underwater weapons) It would be nice to see more weapons on them (along with Ele’s and Engi’s who also only get 4 weapon choices)
Warriors have 10 unique weapons
Guardians have 9 unique weapons
Rangers have 8 unique weapons
Mesmers have 7 unique weapons
Necro’s have 6 unique weapons
I think engineers get a rock, a stick and some bubble gum and are told to make their own.
#TeamNoneOfTheAbove
Lions arch was actually protecting Tyria from invasions by Zhaitan since Cobiah founded it.
It is the first city, or now an nation with southsun being under its control(and possibly Orr?) to treat every species equally(Not sure if the laws against norn or charr still stand in Kryta.)
The pirates must follow Lions Arch laws, or they will be arrested, so technically they are privateers, operating within the law. They don’t support the Consortium, but they haven’t broken any laws so they have their hands tied.
Canach was harming Lions Arch citizens, so he was a menace, regardless of intentions.
When have they ever competed with local governments? All the major cities support them.
The Mist Wars sounds more like they are defending, not invading, based on NPC dialogue.
They don’t have a trade agreement with bandits. They hate bandits. They just would prefer not getting attacked by them to being at war with their forces.
Name one nation against lions arch and I will delete this post.
North Korea.
The early stuff was produced with little lead time. I’m waiting to see what the teams which will have had more time can produce. As to the story-telling itself… it’s been uneven, but I believe it is getting better.
You have to admit… those political ads are great.
i think the OP has a bit too much spin here, some of these aren’t examples of “bait and switch” (although the dye one is certainly a frustrating and real one to be sure).
Hold the phone. This crap about the dyes is a bit frustrating when you consider how they changed and improved the system to make character bound dyes much more logical. Do you remember what the dye system was originally, when they were saying “account wide unlock”? You got a freakin’ seed. Maybe many seeds. However, to get dye from the seed you had to “plant” the seed with an NPC then wait 24 hrs to get the dye. You could do one dye per day that way. Due to the time gating of the access to dyes at one per day it made sense to have them account-wide. (Oh, you couldn’t trade them either.) Now we get dyes left and right with no limits on how many you can unlock in a day. It makes much more sense to have them be character based instead of account based if for no other reason than to keep the world from being inundated with nothing but one copper valued dyes that everyone has and no one wants.
They did NOT “bait and switch” on the dye system. They made it remarkably better and more convenient, with character-only serving as the trade off as opposed to “one per day”.
If you’re actually willing to be a five man havoc squad of death and destruction and… well… havok, JQ would definitely be a nice fit for you.
We have ZERO interest in the pve side of “havoc” teams……taking camps is about as cool as cancer. We want to FIGHT other small man teams. That’s what im talking about.
Sorry, that’s what I was thinking too… havok as in ripping people new ones as opposed to camp flipping groups.
If you’re actually willing to be a five man havoc squad of death and destruction and… well… havok, JQ would definitely be a nice fit for you.
Vote Grawl Ulodyte Fozzy!
I still think we need a wardrobe, either as a type of bank tab or better yet something in our home instance where we can display choice skins and store others.
I’d be surprised if they didn’t do birthday presents with it being such a large part of GW1. I still go back on occasion and see if I have any presents. Yesterday I opened a mini-Mad King Thorn, which gave me 50 in the HoM for mini-pets.
I only wish I could put my dedicated minis into a time capsule and pull them into GW2. I miss my wittle ones.
2 things Gw2 did extremely well: combat overall and the 0 gear treadmill (ascended is still not needed except for fractal, exotics are enough for everything.)
I suggest reading the OP’s posting history – he’s not complaining that there is gear treadmill at the end of the game, rather that there is no gear treadmill since the beginning of the game. Many of his posts mention WoW, too, for the records.
Wait… he actually wants a gear treadmill?
If ever I needed one of those “Not sure if serious” images, now is the time.
There’s a gear treadmill? Dang, I must have missed it while buying my new amulet with laurels I got for doing dailies.
And the money they are spending is coming from where exactly? Did they manufacture it?
But dont go that way, I was just making a point there.
Points are best made when based in fact.
It’s a done deal then. I want to see one of the single most amazing moments in the history of Tyria, not some silly Inquest debauchery. I will just have to live with the fact that I’m voting for an RNG peddling crook. :P
How do you know it is silly? That reactor was once an Asuran city.
That got blown up with chaos magic.
Imagine the possibilities here…
As a mesmer I would like to be the first to say…
I didn’t do it.
Well PvP players don’t pay anything for waypoint travel anyway, nor do they frequent fractals, so I don’t really know why should they get a vote.
I do both, btw.
Unemployed dont pay any taxes, nor do they contribute to a states economy.
I dont see why they should get to vote.
Well that’s a big steaming pile of dragon poo right there. Food is taxed, utilities are taxed, gasoline is taxed…
That’s MA and AR in addition to which ever Fractal the vote decides. So three new Fractals confirmed.
So many words, so I’ll be brief.
Screw expansions.
Here’s the skinny. We know that there are now four teams working on Living Story content in four month cycles. That in itself is a lot. We also know that there are other teams working on the big, juicy stuff as well, things that take longer to refine and deliver. Things worthy of expansions. You all need to realize we’re getting the best of all worlds here… a constant influx of new content to do in between the big releases of major content. Look at games that rely on expansions. They toss you an expansion, you burn through it in a month and wait four or six months recycling the same old stuff waiting for the next release.
We’re getting a constant flow of new things to do while the “big” stuff is being developed. That works for me.
No you don’t get best of 2 worlds you get worse of 2 worlds. You get a F2P game that you payed for to play. To me thats the worse of to worlds.
I know what you mean.. whats the problem, a nice story leading up to content thats the same as an expansion. Sounds good I agree and they might indeed deliver the same amount of content. Thats not the issue here.
The problem for me (there are some other reasons for other people) is that you also have to think about the business behind it. I signed up for a B2P game because I do not like F2P game because of there focus on cash-shops (like the temporary content, but I will not go further into that now). So now Anet does not work with expansions they are focusing on the gem-store for income.
Thats my problem with it.
It’s not the idea of content overtime that leads to the same amount as a expansion would do. that by itself (forgetting the business behind it) would be fine. But there is a business behind it so we can’t forget about that.
Why is that a problem? There’s nothing at all in the cash shop that’s required to move through this game whatsoever. Nothing you can buy that makes you better, more powerful, etc. Just fluff. Yes, some pretty nice fluff, but fluff none-the-less.
I recall a predecessor MMO that I played once… I paid for the game then paid every month to play the game I paid for all the while waiting for the opportunity to pay for an expansion in order to get more content, and then when I did I didn’t get the full expansion, just releases every few months… months which I continued to pay extra for to play the part of the expansion that was released that I paid for to expand the content of the game that I paid for.
You want me to believe you’d rather have that scenario than to simply pay for the game and get access to all the content available (which is constantly being added on to) while being given the option to choose from a myriad of fluff items to buy only if you wish?
Really?
It would be nice if the show was a little more interesting. Remember when we were fighting Dragons? I hear there are more of them floating around somewhere…
If we fought dragons every day the game would have lasted a week.
I haven’t played GW1 but I’m voting for Abaddon. I’m curious to see how Abaddon fell (I read some info on GW Wiki but it’s not enough)! And besides, Reactor exploded… Big deal! Chernobyl also did… No gremlins there.
Please be so kind and prove me wrong, about gremlins and Chernobyl. Would be super cool!
Invisible pink gremlins. Very difficult to catch, more difficult to film.
Kiel is Kormir’s great grand-daughter!
#TeamGnashblade
Why would you vote for this shady charr?
He’s selling us Aetherblade armor in his shop, where do you think he got it?Probably from killing aetherblades and selling us their clothing.
A noble cause indeed.
I haven’t played GW1 but I’m voting for Abaddon. I’m curious to see how Abaddon fell (I read some info on GW Wiki but it’s not enough)! And besides, Reactor exploded… Big deal! Chernobyl also did… No gremlins there.
… And your point is what?
That is the point actually. Living Story chapters chaining into one another. When Dragon Bash was going on, did anyone foresee where that would lead up to now? Now there’s the possibility of one of two counsel members chosen, two distinct paths which can branch down to two distinct stories. Maybe Evon Gnashblade is actually corrupt and influenced by the Consortium and if he wins there’s thoughts on exposing and ousting him, where if Kiel wins he could work towards a path of revenge or simply kick back and run the Black Lion (yeah, right…).
It’s playing out like they said… chapters of a living show, wait ’til next week!
Paragons had one-handed spears in the original Guild Wars.
why would you vote for that stinky charr? with his clandestine activities and rng boxes. Plus we already know about abaddon, there is no reason in doing it again.
I’d vote just to see Abaddon bust a move one more time.
And so it came to pass that on one fateful day Marshall Trahearne was captured by the Orrian horde and tossed into the Bottomless Pit of Despair. It is said that to this very day you can still hear his final words ringing up from the depths… “This well won’t end!”
Most of us Engies die a little more inside when we see every new ‘update’ and every new reward that is a back piece that we can’t use.
To be fair, I have one of the catcher ones on my engie and it works really, really well. Looks sharp.
Trebuchet Mastery should be coming soon I’d think.
I love them, I do, but my characters… they only have one back! I’m getting more than I can use, something… else… to shake it up would be wonderful!
Or… add additional backs to our characters.
This whole election is a result of the attack at the Dragonbash Festival.
This month’s World vs. World ability line addition is Catapult Mastery! Invest points in Catapult Mastery to increase damage done to walls, extra damage against other siege, increase your attack radius, and unlock a new, powerful skill.
Lance has been banned for life from any competitive activities and won’t be appearing in this game.
There are rumors going about concerning Evon, Rox, and a stained blue dress…
The political ads… ANet must be trying to get me in trouble by making me laugh at work.
This is acceptable to me.
Really, five-hundred gems?! To me these things aren’t worth any more than 50.
Then you shouldn’t buy them.
Yeah, like hell I’m going to. I’d rather use those gems to buy Transmutation Crystals.
Problems of kids these days…
lol what? If you want to spend over 17 gold for a useless toy then go ahead. I just said I wasn’t going to do that.
Yes, you told us you’re not. No one cares. Now hush, I’ve a kite to fly.
No. The fact there are so many of us who believe Anet has backtracked on their Manifesto is solid evidence they are at fault for the miscommunication; it is their responsibility to prevent misunderstandings, and they could have been perfectly clear.
No, it’s solid evidence only of the fact that some people believe ANet backtracked on their Manifesto. What’s lacking is actual evidence that they did.
You can craft your way to level 80 in less time than that if you wish.
It’s fine as it is. Adapt. Learn to “double down” downed players. If you’re severely outnumbered expect them to revive if you even manage to down anyone, and let’s be honest… if you’re severely outmanned it wasn’t the downed state that caused you to get wiped. We’re what… nine months into release? If you haven’t adapted to the downed state by now you never will.
How about… 100 AP for every level 20 toon you have in GW1 and for every year they have been around? :-)
Oh my. I’d be raking it in then.
An extra 100 APs for every year we’ve been ANet customers would be a nice touch as well.
I kid actually, I’m quite happy with the token of appreciation ANet has shown to those of us that were there from the beginning. Ah Gwen with her flute in pre-searing Ascalon, and that initial moment, when you leave, where you wish you could go back…
Yeah, I read your comments. And they were answered by my statement when I said you are too lazy to put in the work that we did. If you don’t want the achievement points, then why are you here posting in this forum? The obvious answer is that you want OUR points taken away from us. So either you’re too lazy to buy GW1 and get the achievements yourself, or you want Anet to take away our achievement points because it’s a different game. If you’re not here for those two reasons, then your probably posting in the wrong forum.
That’s hardly a fair statement, telling people to buy GW1 and grind the points out. You know as well as I do how much time that involved, time better spent (and more efficiently spent) in GW2.
Points aren’t the problem. The problem is that people are under the illusion of competing with everyone for these points and for some really odd reason allowing the mental aspect of their game play to be affected by that. Strange, eh? I was actually told I’m in a competition because my name apparently is on a list.
Competition requires participation by all.
Indeed. All are participating, although they didn’t chose to participate! Unless your name don’t appear on the LeaderBoard, that is….
Not sure if I do, haven’t looked, don’t care. I hear there are people over 10K anyhow, so I doubt I’d be that high up on the list. Besides, I heard those boards are a comparison as opposed to a competition.
If ANet chose to put me (and everyone) on that list it doesn’t mean I’m actively competing for positioning on the list. You can sign me up for a race, but if I choose to crack open a beer and watch a softball game while you’re running it’s kind of hard to say we were competing in that race.
Well…Guild Wars was available to everyone at exactly the same time back in 2005, if I remember.
Unless, of course, you weren’t born yet, in which case perhaps take it up with your parents, and not ArenaNet…maybe they can get those 500 points for you, and this would be fair?
Oy vey…
Chuo, if you can’t handle a conversation and make arguments like this one, don’t make a fool out of yourself by making this kind of comments.
I will quote VOLKON, case you missed it:
OK, first of all, please, STOP with the “Go Play GW1 and earn the points” line of counter. You know as well as I do that the amount of time that would take is huge, and that time is better spent in GW2. So knock it off, you look foolish.
Also, case you missed it: " I don’t give a crap about AP! "
Regardless of whether or not we agree with regards to leader boards and “inherited” APs, I stand by that statement.
You dodged the question VOLKON! Do you believe it’s fair for that other guy?
PS: And answering your question, you have gain 300 AP :p
That’s actually hard to answer simply because I don’t think fairness is applicable at all. Some guy across town spent all spring in his garden and has a really nice crop of tomatoes. Is that fair to people that love fresh tomatoes and don’t have tomato plants? Fair is irrelevant. I’m not competing with that other guy whether or not he’s under the illusion of competing with me. I spent the time tending my garden without knowing or caring if he existed. How is it unfair if I enjoy fresh tomatoes?
(Side note… I had a hard time typing “garden” thanks to GW2… kept starting out as guard…)
Although you are not competing, the competition exists. Therefore whether you like it or not, you are competing!
A better analogy is this one:
We are all in a Bicycle race (i.g: tour de france). Those who have won a previous race, are entitled to a yellow shirt! The yellow shirt for it’s own shows the prestige of that runner! However, the wearer of the yellow shirt don’t start ahead of the rest, because that would not be fair! Doing so, is creating a handicap for the rest of those in the competition!
Because it is a competition, it should be fair for all, and so all start from the same starting line!
Obviously if i want to join the race later, i will finish it at last! (to those who says it also can’t be fair to who start gw2 later…)
Competition requires participation by all. Otherwise you’re simply trying to show up the neighbors that don’t even know you exist. Just because someone thinks their competing with me doesn’t make it true. If I’m not in the Tour de France, where’s the competition?
So, Fey… how exactly are people doing dailies negatively affecting your game play again?
Try reading all the above and trolling less? But basically why implement a rank system for something with daily and monthlies invloved?
You’ve missed the point.
How is this hurting you. It’s that simple.
it’s hurting him because he doesn’t want to online everyday (to do something) to be in top of leaderboards. (less time to maintenance of your position/rank). In addition he doesn’t want to do any which he doesn’t like (maybe PvP, WvW, etc).
Did you ever read a post so concise, so clear that it removed any and all doubts from your mind? Well forget them… this isn’t one of those posts.
Let me get this right… he wants to maintain position on the leader boards by not logging in and when he does by not doing what’s available that other people do? That’s like saying I should get credit for climbing Mt. Everest because I spent the night at a Holiday Inn Express in Tibet.
You dodged the question VOLKON! Do you believe it’s fair for that other guy?
PS: And answering your question, you have gain 300 AP :p

Let’s put it this way… you can easily out pace the number of points you’d get from Guild Wars in Guild Wars 2, so you’d actually wind up getting a lot less points overall. Your call, of course, but it would be a very bad time/point option. I was over 6K APs already and got 300 APs from my time in Guild Wars. As much as I do appreciate that, it’s not worth the time investment now to go back to Guild Wars and grind those last couple hundred points.
For anyone that’s complaining about the increase in APs from GW1 contributions, answer me this.
How many APs did I receive and how did that affect you?
I don’t know how many you received…
But then answer me this: If you by doing nothing, you passed someone in the leaderboards due to your said gain, then was it fair to that player (let’s assume he cared about his position)?
You want the truth?
I’d have never noticed. I’d actually forgotten the leader boards existed in the first place. All I can see is that Anet gave me 300 APs for my years in GW which take me a bit more than halfway to the next chest but now people that didn’t play Guild Wars seem to think Anet should take that reward from me because of a leader board I forgot existed in the first place.
