they said in the pvp forums they are working on the pathing for shadow steps and ports I just hope that includes the pathing for shadow trap would be pretty nice if that could be a reliable skill

You are using d/p.? Does swindlers work with D/p now? Fear in the hands of a thief can be nasty. Sometimes when I roam with a Necro I find the necro a liability of I face a thief.

From a player vs player point of view, the glowing part is a counterplay. Without all those reflect and blocks, distracting dagger would be truly strong. The skill not only apply daze ( your main utility in pve ) but add 15 sec to cooldowns.
I’m starting to think that core condi sword might work very well now….with AC/DA/TR

Solo queueing thief, I started gold 2 and crossed plat for the first time. I’m now hanging around ~1550 rating. Official rating is 1536, since I got a week without playing and I played only 104 games in ranked….First time I’m not doing the quota in a season.
I really got better this season. Learning to use shortbow to temporize duels ( especially vs thieves ) really helped with survivability and rotations.

He has certainly thought it through, I think it’s you that does not understand the mechanics of Mark.
Steal and mark are not the same thing. I think you don’t understand the mechanics or are confusing them to be the same.
I use rending shade currently. Rending shade is a better steal then is BT and steals stacks. You also do NOT lose steal with deadeye. You can still trait up the deadeye steal.
Mark is not a steal, it’s a mark. BT works on steal which is stated plainly in the trait.
Come on, the only difference with steal and marks are the shadowstep on steal and the malice stacks for mark. It’s 10% of the utility of a traited F1 with DA/TR.
You don’t steal for the gap closer, you steal for the interrupt/poison/mug/boon rip/fury gain/stealth.
Btw you still get stolen items even from marks…..so it’s pretty much a ranged steal :p

I’m not against it as it provides as much counterplay as oportunities. If the mark is visible to your enemies, it is also visible for your allies. A traited mark visible to everyone is equivalent to the following message " I ripped boons, applied poison, probably interrupted that guy…Go for it ! ". As for enemies it pretty much tell them to provide support because that marked guy is vulnerable.
It’s another way to control the flow of fights ( which I believe is thief main appeal ).
Btw the concept is not new, necromancer’s mark have the same mechanic. You know the all allies attacking a foe steal life from that foe.

You already have the kills achievements and the “survival” one promotes idle play…..
Charrs have pretty nice animations on thief. But you have the tail / trenchcoat clipping hell….
One theory I had was that the closer to death someone gets, the closer to the Mists they get; a sort of literally one-foot-in-the-grave sort of deal that was confirmed with the Lake Doric episode.

I recently came across Wallpaper engine which allows you to have animated wallpapers. I would like to set up the gw2 character selection screen as my background. I’m looking for a footage of the full loop of the animated background without UI & Character.
I only found footages of the old login screen on youtube….
I could record it on my own but my 8 character slots are full with lvl 80 and I don’t want to delete them just for that. I don’t have enough gems to buy another slot as well…
Did anyone came across a video of a character selection background somewhere ?

Sure, some comps are really strong in 2v2. We had an aura ele that supported engi/mesmer/dh. That was almost impossible to beat.
Two things bothering me in this mode :
- Sometimes you wait a long time for the 4th person to come in…It would be great to have a ready up to allow 1v2 instead of waiting.
- I would make the area a bit bigger in width. Classes relying on aoe sustain/damages are really advantaged by the current arena.
Only two things happened :
1) The change to sigils : small things like thief running sigils of absorption instead of air/fire. It might shift the balance a little bit.
2) The threshold to platinum has been lowered. Guys like me who were around gold 1-2 are now up to gold 3 (I was 1 game away from plat 2-3 days ago). I suppose he level of your teammates got down a bit.
The only valid reason I see not to swap is to limit the potency of venom thief.

I’m in need of a second bank tab. I’ve always managed with one and my 8 characters inventory….But lately I started having two different sets of armor for my mesmer ( I’m getting involved into raid hype ) and inventory management is becoming dire. Between weapons and account bound/soul bound stuff I’m always playing with only 1-2 inventory bag available.
A second bank tab for armor and weapons would be so useful !
On skills alone pretty simple. Then it depends on the game type. Open world thief is pretty dumb.
WvW and PvP are two different experiences and the skills required are quite hard to master. PvP is pretty much all about map reading.
NO, you should evade both…Steal traited will inflict vulnerability and poison from the start. Your damages would drop by a good margin.
From a thief perspective, the best counter you can do is shroud + skill #2. You would do the burst at the end of his dodge applying condis and damages and then either blind him at close range or create distance to avoid the backstab ( if you lost the target ) with #2
I would say new maps since it remove the use of laurel for jewels. You can use them for T6 mats.

Only time I saw a successful bunker rev this season was when he was coupled with an ele. They held the mid point on temple for the whole game even in 2v4.
Yep, only way to get out of this is to hard carry by yourself in an active way (offense). This way your team either snowball with you or you made your team lose the game.

I think OP is confusing a bunch of thing :
- The requirements of 120 games only unlock your right to compete for the top 250.
- You only need your first 15 matches this week to appear in your friend/guild list. I have friends that played 50 games last season and I can still compare to them in that tab.
- What are the substantial rewards you are talking about ? If it’s about chests and pip track, you just need to play ranked not to have +120 matches…..If it’s about the titles, I don’t think someone who can’t play 120 games would get them anyway.
- 2 games a day, every week is like 30-40 min of gameplay everyday….That’s plenty of time to farm WvW after that.
who kills elementals in pvp ?
LoS is for projectiles. If you want to avoid a player to teleport use the different jumping puzzles available. You are looking for the infamous “no valid path to target” thing.
btw DH and rev will teleport closer anyway as long as you have a target, even if the target is out of the skill range

When you’re already listening for ability/utility sounds (toss elixir S, black powder, etc) this becomes far too noisy to be able to play around. There wasn’t a single instance I can think of where this helps game play.
Players who alt-tab during cap probably love this feature……
