Not possible if you didn’t have any before since the devs believed everyone (non-pvpers) would try to fill out their locker when the wardrobe was announced.
One of the biggest issues in solo queue and team queue is that the current leaderboards aren’t very good. I’ll give a couple examples..
1. A person who hasn’t played in a month can jump 40% after one game, win or lose. Decay doesn’t work well.
2. People with losing records are in the top 100. What? I don’t care who you’ve beaten. If you lose more than win, you shouldn’t even be in the top 500.The poor leaderboards also then lead to poor MMR for the different matches. It is just a bad situation.
So, my question. Is a new leaderboard part of this feature patch? I might have just missed it.
Isn’t the reason for poor win/loss records due to MMR?
The amount of trolling that will happen in map chat . . . will be immense.
edit: Just thought about the amount of rage building up for the rank 5 that decided to soloq and did nothing all game

Can I salvage items from the PvP mystery coffer for tokens above my rank? Never bought one so I don’t know what’s in it, but if I can get any item from it, I’ll buy some and try it out. Else, I’m not sure how I can get phoenix tokens.
Dungeon armors you have x6 chances to salvage a bear/shark/phoenix/dragon token based on which dungeon armors you buy: Nightmare is Dragon/Furnace is Phoenix/etc.
edit: The above method is gambling because you can get no tokens from salvaging all 6.

I enjoy playing 8v8s on times when I don’t want to tpvp, I could never play a 5v5 HJ since solo q is the same thing, except winning gives you more rewards (let’s be honest, most matches you can’t even tell if you are playing hotjoin or not in soloq).
I could be the only person with this problem, but I have duplicate weapon skins like Tormented Pistol and Dragon’s Jade Kris Skin in their respective PvP only versions. Knowing that the wardrobe will let me make infinite amounts of these, should I just consider my claim ticket investment for these duplicate weapon skins a mistake and no compensation to be rewarded for or do other people like me need to file a support ticket? (103g current prices now or 1 black lion claim ticket + 1 dragon jade weapon claim ticket ).
This is a bad change overall. So what will High Rankers aim for now that they will hit level cap? Even me, I’m just a Tiger ranked nobody but I’ll be boosted to Bear/Shark level after this patch. It feels like cheating.
Whatever happened to playing a game because you enjoy it? Oh I forgot you need your shiny pixels and bragging rights to make you feel special and the endless carrot on a stick or you will get paralyzed from the neck down.
What’s there to keep players after they remove this?
1 tournament a year that rewards basically the same 5 players as the previous year?
I’ll keep playing because I like the game and don’t really care whether or not I have some random pixels upon stomping an enemy… I dunno who was actually aiming to get dragon or used that as their only motivation to play… but they must be one crazy motherkittener…

The sign of a great debater is the ability to take on both sides of the issue at a moments notice. I can argue the opposite side all day long. If you truly understand this issue from both perspectives I’d love to hear you give me the strongest and most convincing counter-arguments to your claims. I’d love it if you’d indulge me.

My answer, in a nutshell: The gameplay.
I think most (no every) r70+ character loves the combat and playing the game only to realize they are shafted the most on the upcoming reward scheme (can you see the opposite side of the argument?) the last straw (or carrot) hanging is just the implementation of the ladder system and “unique” rewards.
At this point I would be rewarded equally if I played or not for random pve trash, but little did most people know, the more you played after Dec 10th, the less rewards you would be getting when the new system comes on the 15th (55+). If they can’t even reward the 70s with the 25 chests the 55s are getting is just disgusting.
Back on topic: 70 should be the cutoff for dragon because everyone knows the amount rank points have been so much that if you only do pvp you can fill a quarter/half of your total bar in 1 week (from a 150k rank pt bar perspective).
I would be more than happy to let the 70+ go to dragon since it guarantees the skyhammer scum that farmed to 50-60 don’t get bumped to dragon.

Just like the implementation of consumable tokens for silver suggestion, this makes too much sense, so I’m going to go ahead and say no.
Does the next phase of pvp rewards include the “phasing out” of skyhammer?
Once you are within the 91%-80 ish % range you need about 4-6 wins in a row to break into top 1000. If you don’t give yourself the 4-6 wins you can end up around rank 900 and 1 loss immediately drops you back into “hell” aka 91-80% range. The only trick to winning that many matches in a row is usually determined by people which aren’t good in that match bracket and you can easily 2v1 and “carry” your team.
I don’t think the map is bad for solo Que or team Que. I think that people complain about it because they don’t want to have to mind their positioning, and play the terrain. The cannon is very powerful, but it has a long pre-fire tell. I usually leave the area as soon as i see it bout to fire. I wonder if people are complaining about the cannon, because they think they should be able to just take it to the face. The fact that you don’t know its the next map can be a problem, but you have to accept the situation and deal with it accordingly.
There is no such thing as positioning in A or C to prepare you for a stealth pull from an engi and stunbreaks won’t save you when they immediately net shot you after the pull.

I believe the system is already in place; it will be a hard pill so swallow for pvp only players, only if the prices for the new traits are reasonable (2g-6g). What the devs have not planned on is creating the next new broken spec through these new traits. I won’t quote from a long blogpost, but wasn’t the point of keeping skills to a minimum (heal-util-elite) create a better balance. Instead they introduce new traits rather than fixing the trait trees they started out with? (If all skill trees are so garbage, might as well introduce new trait lines to push the meta into another direction [“we made wars too strong, but nobody realized it”])
I hope relic runs never has any iteration into gw2.
My reason for this:
It was a 15 min match, so what ended up happening is all 3 teams free running orbs for 12mins straight while the rest of the team usually did nothing
(18 ppl just standing around for fear of getting 1 team kittened to screw you over) so the match essentially boiled down to the last 1-2mins where all the teams had an even score and hope each team would go after the adjacent team so it came down to the last relic for the most part.
edit: There were many problems with HA to begin with, but if it was a 1v1 in HA you can easily cheese your way through every format in gw1; relic runs (body block), koth(you have a cap at the start of the match, just wipe their hero), capture points (mostly did come down to tactics funnily enough)

They already mentioned this a while back, which was that glory needs to be removed due to problems it might cause when the new system is in place (hence “maintenance build”) in order for them to have no problems implementing the new system rather than remove the old (glory) and implement the new system all in 1 patch…. flawlessly.
How Important is the quality of the upcoming feature build for you guys?
Will you stay no matter what?
No.
Will you play less?
If the feature patch isn’t even as good as it’s being hyped to be I will likely play less.
Will you take a long break?
If the feature patch is just meant to reward newer players for playing while leaving old players in the dust (reward structure introduced this patch) then I’m done. [partly due to no retroactive rewards ever being introduced in the future]
They aren’t removing ranks or finishers, just keep playing. Glory is being removed
Btw, they gonna sell tokens for copper, after glory removal, so, possibly, it could be a good idea to not waste your glory on tokens and w8 for the patch.
Is there a source for this? As far as I was aware it was only salvage kits.
I can make 492 dyes, but have no glory to buy the tokens ;_;

Here are the thresholds:
- Ranks 1-9: Players will earn 1 Small Reward Box each time they level in this tier
- Ranks 10-29: Players will earn 1 Medium Reward Box each time they level in this tier
- Ranks 30-80: Players will earn 1 Large Reward Box each time they level up in this tier
Loot table for rank up reward boxes:
- Small reward boxes will contain random crafting materials and stardard loot
- Medium reward boxes will contain 1 scroll of knowledge(skill point) and rewards similar to the small chest but in the next tier loot table above it.
- Large reward boxes will contain a tome of knowledge(1 PvE level/skillpoint), 5 champion bags, and 5 scrolls of knowledge (5 skillpoints) each. Tier 5 crafting mats included.

Looks like people who are rank 30 should just chill and wait for the patch to hit, then reap the rewards of 30-40 being easy, etc. Unless measures are being taken to make it more fair for the higher ranked people so they can also get these large rewards boxes as often as the lower ranked players.
I doubt any of the long term pvp’ers are being rewarded (retroactive) since the future reward system moves onto gold (which pve’rs have alot of) and magic find (which pve’rs etc.) followed by the fact that once I finish my 150k bar and get the same reward as someone just finishing their 15k bar I can’t even…

Pretty sure the “rank points actually mattered” boat sailed a long time ago with the implementation of skyhammer and custom arenas. Even then rank was meaningless since there was no dedicated solo q and most premades just farmed all day anyone that wanted to “yoloqueue”. Anyone that has been playing pvp for a while considers the increase in rank points good (imo) due to the grind of 150k/450k rank points per level and I personally don’t care that rank points are easier to get.

Can we just get dates for what is happening when? The fact that many people are confused should tell you that the blog post/FAQ post aren’t clear enough.
The system will think you are rank 50 still even though your number on leaderboard decays, so win or lose you will probably be rank 40 or rank 50-60 respectively when it updates (assuming you played).
The best part of that video is when the engineer uses healing turret and proceeds to run away from it.
Just wait for next week, with the (sorry for dev bash) vague comments on upcoming pvp features on stream. Personal bias goes here: if the devs actually talked about upcoming changes [i.e not leaving broken skills for 1-3 months with no change] actually tell the playerbase on feedback (fake patch notes got enough responses to be so secretive) there are still some players left to give honest feedback on changes that will/won’t make it on the “feature patch” at least get some community opinions instead of getting bashed on forums over and over. People want to help this game get good but lack of public test server among other things leaves very few players to keep playing this game, with 2 more sub based games coming out in march.

Some people are willing to stream gw2 pvp if skyhammer was removed, I still don’t see the point in including this map, if the devs can provide enough “metrics” that people love the map then I will shut up, otherwise remove this from solo queue [personal record atm: 90 wins- 5 losses].
I would rather have 40 rank points per 1 item (dust/tokens/etc) since it seems like a fair trade-off for excessive stacks of tokens and crafting materials I will never use (1 stack= 10k rank points).
I wonder if they will put their dishonorable stack bot on hold, or alot of people are going to get free dishonorable stacks for nothing.
I believe there was a post a few months back with people that had all 8, I currently just need 50 more ranger and phantom (150) to have all 8.

As for skyhammer in solo arena, we’re kicking around some ideas (definitely not ignoring you guys, just fyi). As of right now, we have no plans to remove it. We’re not quite convinced yet that the majority of our pvp population want it gone, so we’re trying to get metrics on that before we make any changes.
I hope that was some kind of bad joke. I really do.
Otherwise I’m just speechless at this point.

A dev can see my skyhammer win/loss rate which I think is around 85% in solo queue, and I STILL THINK the map should be removed. Moving onto the metrics? What are you talking about? Unless you bring back the beta feature in that you can rate the experience 1-5 I don’t see how you can get any “metrics” out of skyhammer, it is agreed upon the community and top tier players that the map brings cheese and isn’t competitive at all.

This probably happened because you are very near the starting MMR. It happens, but we are working on improving things so it won’t happen nearly as often.

With good reason. They aren’t very good.
One of several reasons I’m glad we’re going to keep ranks. (Thanks, community!) Ranks should act as a decent proxy for game-knowledge, allowing us to place people better.
Newbies can learn with people that won’t dominate them, which is good because that isn’t very fun. Trolls, err… veterans won’t have to worry as much about picking up the slack. Win/Win.
If you want to make a genuine team you do this beforehand, if you solo/duo/trio/etc into team queue then you are the one rolling the dice.
Super old teleport bug, but most people barely use it so I guess the devs don’t care.
Only slightly frustrating that they don’t learn from their past mistakes of leaving the meta alone for months with no balance. When the “Dhuumfire” meta was rampant and no changes happened alot of the population quit the game. Seeing as we aren’t getting another balance patch until March and other problems which haven’t gotten a response from Anet (retroactive rewards for veteran players, skyhammer removal from solo queue) the population will drop again unless Anet wants to troll pve people again by adding more achievements again which returns to frustrating veteran players with bad matchmaking due to new players being placed at a high mmr.
GW2 pvp is GREAT !! But… I still can’t use Quaggan Tonic in HOTM.
