Rather than expecting to win, I expect to lose the game (when I see a 7min+ queue). If I knowingly know the match is going to be a dice roll by staying in queue so long I just don’t even care if I lose, just whether I want to keep rolling the soloq odds of winning.

this guy lordrisiky or what ever happens to be one of the top necros in the game, he doesnt have a biased opinion like most people, he just genuinely wants the game to improve, so before you start qqing or calling him bad go check his team que and solo que records and i personally have played with him and i know hes a formidable player, quite capable of carrying people. that said when hes trying to help the developers by informing them of something that clearly is overpowered how about before you start calling him noob or passively calling him bad check your own statistics and see how many games youve carried to victory and i m pretty sure its 100s less than him, so before you get buthurt cause hes calling something you play overpowered just think about how these over powered classes affect every other class

You can’t help the developers by ranting how something is broken without providing some solution to this problem; that is constructive feedback.

P.S.. Congratulations to those nominated. We all know it is only a game, but it is still nice to noticed. To those nominated, thank-you for the how to video’s, the builds, the play by play commentary and everything else you have contributed. You taken a game that has had its up’s and down’s and stuck with it and offered to help. I hope you have a massive time in Germany.

Not sure if cleave means what you think it means. The only way to end the controversy is actual players saying they choose not to participate.

What I want to see in the tournament: No bunkers, show some spike coordination and win.

Your opening formation is like playing PaperRockScissors. If you open well then great, play defensive, watch spawn. If you open bad, team members need to be fast and match numbers or rotate off. This changes for every map. Crucial to count numbers and communicate enemy positions during the opening. (E.G forest map, people heading to mid can exit towards beach area to watch for crossings, and adjust formation)

There been numerous posts on map strategies and formations. Google search them. But, best advice is to watch tournament streams and play more.

This; and people believing that there is a set strategy that should be played the entire game, this is never the case since decisions need to be made based on how you perform initially or how your opponent rotates (enemy team comp+ other variables), there is no set strategy to this, just more experience based on how your team communicates with each other.

Nobody can deny that blu should be at the event, but as an “all star” player I can think of (and so can he) more deserving players to be representative of NA.

It’s disgusting. I went 24-2 once in SoloQ and went from around 150 to 9 so I don’t understand how something like this could happen.

Edit: Did Justin quit working at ArenaNet? He use to respond and deal with crap like this.

Last I heard, even he didn’t know why we haven’t gotten a proper rating score shown next to our names rather than rank lvl (this was before they changed ranks). People that attach a special meaning to leaderboards are honestly either sociopaths or trolls that play 1 game per day. Just enjoy the game, know that you will be paired with people that have no clue what they are doing, try to help them, if not just move on to the next match, don’t attach yourself to some arbitrary broken leaderboard to your skill as a player /end philosopher rant.

This is a pretty good suggestion. It would be nice to have a capture point separate from the rest of the game that has some PvP bells and whistles. In the mean-time, you can get information in these ways:
Icons at top of screen is absolute ownership: Blue means blue team is getting points, white means no-one is getting points, etc.
The color of the ground decal is who currently has capture progress, but does not indicate ownership.
The color of the ring around the capture point indicates who is making capture progress.
Example: Blue icon at top, half blue ground decal, red rings. Blue owns the point, red is decapping, and is halfway to neutral.

Though there are ways to get more information, its confusing. What other ways could capture points be more clear? Maybe giant +1’s in blue or red floating up from the capture pointer in-world?

That seems like a major overhaul of a UI change which hasn’t been placed in this game (obviously its implementation gives the visual feel for new players to grasp conquest mode more, I just feel more pressing UI changes can be made over it). A quick example of a UI change is the entire structure of the current rune and sigil, UI feels clunky and feels more of a chore if you want to swap builds quickly with one character. This alone takes more effort than it should (templates alleviates this problem).

For a much easier fix UI wise, it would be to display 3 bars on all three points as default (inc gw1 rant: if you see 1 arrow in the bar and 1 person on the base it automatically means that person is 2v1 [if you want to play capture pts, more people= faster cap] the arrows meant alot before). You can attempt to make this new UI show bars for each point and do a > = 1 person >>= 2 people >>>= 3 people, etc and make it a visible UI for everyone. This alone would fix the newer player experience of running from a mid pt to help you, when it should be clear from the map that you don’t need help.

PvP is dying.
1. No more PvP backpacks.
2. No more PvP skins (the pvp exclusive skins are no longer obtainable)
3. No more Glory Vendors
4. Nothing but a bunch of chests for the PvE’er.
5. PvP rank 80 is obtainable in 3 months time, so PvE’ers can get achievements…
However WvW titles take years. WvW max rank takes years.
PvP got shafted.
Hotjoins are no longer fun.
Solo que is fighting same people all day.
People say PvP is doing good, but its just a bunch of random PvE’ers in the PvE friendly hearts of the mist.

To add to this we can’t even get tonics (quaggan?) to work properly in hotm. It took me almost that 1 month (torture) to do the latest pve event for the tonic only to realize I can’t use it in hotm, gg anet.

Anyone that plays this game still agrees that the combat is the only thing keeping us playing, other than that competition has always been degrading way before TP (or TC) quit. The loss of acquiring gems from only pvp was another hit.

yeah. getting into too100 is meaningless. you could get into top100 by luck or something. however, keeping within top100 for more than few weeks by playing everyday is harder. That’s why many soloq top pvpers, except people i mentioned above whose names are Jorse avitori Hao Haiji, usually avoid playing since they archiving highest rank of them. what they do is like playing only 1 time in a week or month and get their rank back to leaderboard. How sad it is, anet should change system entirely.

Keeping top 100 is easy, but the problem is queue times.

Due to the low population and at least half of top 100 being people with not even 50 wins results in waiting in excess of 8 mins or at most 15 mins for a match to pop.

After 5 minutes it is largely accepted by most of the people at top 50 that matchmaking will just try to find a match for you, which results in getting a queue with people not even top 1000.

After waiting the 5 min mark it is largely accepted that the chances of winning go into a 50/50 chance. So if you wanted to tryhard and always be on top 20 you would queue, if the timer passes 5 mins, cancel, and re-queue, this will ensure you always play (somewhat) even matches and still stay top 50.

Basically the equivalent of gw1 pvp with Death Penalty, but the devs act like this game (gw1) never existed. (/resign, templates, more than 1 pvp game mode, etc.)

edit: With that said there was also a “morale” boost which counteracts the effects of this during a pvp match (usually a secondary objective) which would constantly shift fights for either team if someone had a heavy stack of penalty for dying too many times.

This is already a thing, though. There are players who alpha/beta test the updates coming into the game before it goes live, including top tier PvP players.

It’s going to take ArenaNet a while to develop 3v3 arena.

Seems like it’s hard to make [x2] a flat dome with 2 (or 3) large rocks equally spaced from each other.

Back on topic: We just got courtyard which took 9 months to release, so we can wait another 7 months for the “new” map.

another 14 days? I think you misplaced days with: improved tooltips in 2 weeks/ let us (devs) improve some skills nobody uses [i.e improve reaction time on Death Blossom by 1s, etc]. I expect the next feature patch in winter 2014 with what’s left of the abysmal population, unless anet believes the esport hype from Chinese people (more $$) until they see the sad state we played with in 2 years. That money will run out quick.

I have this feeling a new game mode will be announced soon with no community feedback [in the final product] that it will only kitten the community off more or worse we get Skyhammer 2.0. You could say it is skill (I don’t consider it) but you need to strafe their bodies or be close enough to lich form so that you can run behind them and their auto’s will miss.

Actually: Lich form can hit while they are facing any direction. They can be running away and keep hitting the targets behind them.

I will reserve judgement until I can test this for myself, but from my experience as long as a 180 degree change is performed after* cast it won’t hit. I’ll edit the response accordingly.

Since the April 15th PvP reward overhaul, PvP has definitely been more active & vibrant.

Despite all of your reminiscing about the old Glory Vendors ‘making the mists feel so alive’, you seem to forget that the old PvP reward system was just absolutely, inexcusably bad.

It’s less agonizingly bad now, it has been much improved. However, the Reward Tracks need to expand to eventually cover some/most/all of the skins that were achievable in PvP before.

Also, it’s not really anybody’s fault but your own if your chests/glory were wasted. Pretty much nobody missed that boat, as it was announced well in advance.

Just like everybody else that’s still here – continue to play the game if you still like it, k? Or don’t.

Nobodies fault that but his that chests/glory were wasted? Try saying that to Kensuda, and he’s on your team..lol. The fact that they didn’t provide a vendor after the patch is inexcusable, and lazy. You shouldn’t have to keep in touch with the forums or the website in general like a daily or weekly paper to not get screwed over. Adding a vendor to spend your glory after the fact wouldn’t have hurt anyone. That’s just ignorance plain and simple.

The fact that you have to trigger the moves during the channeling of a stomp is proof enough that these skills are not intended to be used like that. And though there are counter for it seems like the chances of a perfect counter are not only going to be found. And the suggestion of “don’t die play better” is a stupid suggestion.

When you use elixir you can channel the stomp, but it obviously won’t be guaranteed since it will run out 1 second before the actual stomp occurs. so no- Working as intended

people attempting to argue that its working as intended, ask yourself why you can’t start the stomp while in mist form or shrank.
if it were intended then you’d be able to start the stomp while using them, i just think they forgot to make those skills cancel stomping.

imho the should give them really short .25 sec cast times (which would cancel the stomp) so they can’t be exploited for godmode-stomping.
