Glad they got rid of magic find (see posts that were made a long time ago) since it basically meant your party was carrying you on dungeon runs because they weren’t being done effectively by having 1-2 ppl running full MF while the rest up the group picks up the slack running normal gear.

These made me laugh, but I’d rather see us get a boost on current achievement points such as the champion titles (off the top of my head they are 35 ap points?) Compared to when a new living story comes out and you can easily boost yourself 200+ achievement points in a day or two.

Conquest supports these type of battles because of the sole reason that has been prevalent since beta, AoE damage. The devs can try to fix a work-around for this, but AoE will always be strong for the sole reason that in game design they choose AoE to be the most damaging/punishing skill in the game. The necro takes full advantage of this, which results in either you take either a necro (relies on heavy aoe) or a warrior (relies heavy on melee) completely out of the game, since every other class can use a damaging AoE which outplays any single target dps of either of the aforementioned classes can do; there will never be a balance. I’m optimistic that other game “modes” take advantage of this, but the devs have been scared to do anything besides it since they know class balance will shift very off (we know capture the flag will never work,
(spirit watch plays like it and we all know how bad that plays)

I also agree with too many events that I don’t even /care to watch any of them anymore. This would have been remedied if everyone could watch top tournaments that are happening rather than just shoutcasters that seem to be hoped on redbull switching between many characters, when in actuality I wish I could observe 1-2 players at most.

If you have 20/10 people in your guild, it is more than feasible to pitch in $1/$2 a month respectively to 1 paypal account to support your custom arena. They probably will not add any way to get gems through pvp so we just have to deal it it. /qq

Underwater combat according to Anet doesn’t matter in esports, once you have 2 or more ppl, that theif is going to drop… quick (personal experience using this cheese method)

If you are in top 1000 and still get rank 1s, on your team then matchmaking is seriously broken, if you aren’t in top 1000 (where most rank 1 players are) there really isn’t much you can do to complain, matchmaking has gotten slightly better the higher in the leaderboards you get.

I think they realized that only complaints would ensue if they included a reward (or achievement) which eventually leads with people that have the reflex of a snail to start complaining in the forums.

What we need is a system that existed in old gw (Casual) pvp such as making a solo queue team that wins lets say 5-10 (in a row) matches go into a premade queue (what was known as team arenas in gw1 when 5 random ppl just stomp all other random groups that go into a “premade” arena after about [20 in a row if I remember correctly]). Overall we need some type of progressing to winning in tpvp (ahem. HA) where top teams reach the top and lower teams vs lower teams fight to reach the top.

You probably shouldn’t expect to get much higher than 50% if all you do is solo queue.

If all you do is team queue, welcome to top 1000.

team queue players mostly consist of top 1-500, 500+ becomes so volatile that in 3-4 games you can instantly go from 95% to 600 on solo queue (personal experience)

1-solo queue (really obvious for a WHILE now)
2- build diversity (still obvious)
3- I think ill go with fixing terrain exploits over new games modes (if devs want to msg me in game I can literally show you teleports you can take on EITHER side to avoid destroying gates to guild lord)

The best thing they could do would be to allow dueling inside the heart of the mists. Seriously, I don’t know why they didn’t think to do that before the game released. It would make the mists area much more meaningful instead of just a place to wait for tournament queues. (I would prefer the option to duel anywhere in the world but this might take too much work figuring out which places to disallow dueling)

I’ve played over 700 tpvps and there are just too many games with a bunch of noobs on my team. Today these games occured 3 times in a row was when I started with rank 600 on the leaderboards.

They were clearly outclassed in these matches and were not smurfs. I’ve seen them trying to res dead people and capping points with 3 other people on it.

Matchmaking needs to have a limit on the MMR difference that a match can have. I am sure this is causing more people to quit PvP than the alternative of waiting longer for a match.

And if it is averaging MMR then Glicko is highly flawed.

Besides the 2nd screenshot, you also faced two premades in screenshots 1 and 3.

This has been the only thing bothering me since the game launched, the community posts competent ideas yet they are either ignored or scraped by the admins. This isn’t a personal bash towards the devs, but you guys like ignoring the community when it is your greatest asset in what the community feels is balanced (public test server). When a new balance patch is done, it is up to the community to post a feedback poll because you can’t do it yourselves, then you go “great feedback we will continue watching this thread” doesn’t it hurt to at least try an make one yourselves? In relation to this post, shouldn’t this have been done before to improve pvp? (by actually making a poll on how the COMMUNITY felt about the problems with pvp yet the dying community still tries to give you feedback which falls on deaf ears)

These bugs have been known for a while, but seeing as it only affects non-competitive pvp I don’t see the LARGE advantage to these bugs to warrant an immediate bug fix (probably why it hasn’t been done).
edit: Higher priority bug fixes would be terrain exploits that haven’t been fixed in forever (being able to blink/teleport to a guild lord without breaking down the gate, teleporting to the top of clocktower/ other terrain glitches)

I feel like a noob….I’m sure plenty others know about this….but just incase others don’t using 10 arcane power ( very common ) 10 Arcane Orbs ( also common ) 1 Arcane Sliver ( rare ) 1 Consumable Token = Unidentified Dye….After just finding out about this I just made 10 and made 7gold. I aint complaining. =)

Hope someone somewhere learns something =P. On a similar note, how do you make your gold as a predominant pvp’er?

Made 60 last month, Total Profit: 4g…… good on you though to support terrible RNG.

as its intended to play the game more than just for 1 year, i think its ok that it takes so long reaching higher ranks.
you guys always talk about incentive and on the other hand want everything achieved now.

The issue is more on the distribution of the rank-points. Rank got meaningless because good players in tournaments never achieve that much points as a brainless hotjoin-zerger. I think the general-rank should be related to your success rather than how much free time you have and how many hotjoin you play. So the incentive to have a high-rank is for most ppl not existing. As in GW1 ranks told you how successfull a player actually was (c-title, rank, commander-title), here it became meaningless.

The incentive for ranks is only there if the ranking-system is in relation to your skill/success. Though in GW1, phoenix-emotes were a symbol of prestige, in GW2 the same emote will never be in that state.
Sorry to say, but A-Net messed it up completely.

This, and the fact that winning tournaments doesn’t advance your actual pvp title (halfway to level 43 when I finally got ransaker, while hotjoin joe at level 40/41 already gets ransaker because he doesn’t tournament)

There are some moments in 4v4/5v5 teamfights were there are TOO many effects I don’t even know what’s happening in my screen since my target disappears in a mess of shiny effects and people want 8v8?!!

Instead of storing multiple items, why not just make them item unlocks? Where we click an unlocked skin and can then apply it to a pvp item as much as we want.

They would have to add an entire new system because you won’t be able to salvage those things an “infinite” amount of times to get as many dust/orbs/crystals/etc that you want, they would have to rework their entire mystic forge recipes and add new collectibles, which isn’t going to happen.

I’m still somewhat confused on why people that don’t understand TPvp (and don’t try to even learn it [there are plenty of youtube vids]) try to learn. There is no way you can ever “casually” play solo que ever and learn how to actually Tpvp, makes me miss paid tourny’s, but that’s another rant. I won’t lie and say I haven’t left some games because once you are down 200+ points, there is literally no reason to play unless you want them to glory farm you. I just hold out for a resign feature, but knowing this community, this will get exploited QUICK.

Well so far all professions have to use their downed state utility to somewhat mitigate them from dying, every profession (excluding ele for obvious reasons) can knock someone down or push them off using the downed state #2 skill but mesmers or theif you can easily cheese without suffering these consequences, just down mes at the last moments or watch theifs and how they teleport [this is does change when theifs or mes use it at the last possible* second]

Funniest game I had today was having a “some-what premade” vs 2 ANet devs where literally a rank 16 warrior was glory whoring the entire match (my team) and anet abusing (if not the DEVS using the un-intentional teleporting stomp)
For those unaware the of the “tele” stomp it is:
When you down a mesmer at the last moment and you hope he is in the “stomp” range to do a 1-stomp
OR:
When you are going to stomp a theif and when he teleports away, you use a utility skill to teleport to them in the stomp animation to down 1 person with 1 stomp animation.

I won’t defend this, but the “GM’s” [Anet Tag] are alright with doing tele-1-stomps so I guess I don’t want to get banned?"

Reading the GvG description.

Wouldn’t we be able to set up something like this with 8v8 teams on Foefire.

Kill the guild lord and win.

Albeit very limited with only one map, but it’s a small start?

If we could set the total number of respawns available for teams / players too, even better.

It still would not work, the way this pvp set up is now is either run high dmg to outnumber someone at a specific point or split to another point, adding more people just becomes a hotjoin zerg fest. Unfortunately, without a dedicated healer this will be a far cry from gw1 pvp.

As much as I like dueling, it simply wouldn’t work. Bunker v bunker would go forever and burst v burst would be done in an opener.

Exactly. For those worried about bunker vs bunker, it’d work itself out since bunkers would be draws and no one gets points. So we’ll see more damage builds coming out. Or boon stripping builds.

Necros would be delighted to find a preponderance of guardians and eles will learn not to be so boon focused.

A 1v1 dueling system might be just what this game needs to encourage people to try new and innovative builds utilizing trait lines that were previously ignored.

This game can never work 1v1 since you can just buildwars the other profession, like seeing you run a necro, I will just go mesmer.

This won’t fix the problem when you see rank 30-40 hotjoin heroes that play worse than a rank 18 knowledgeable player

The only way people learn tpvp (from what I have seen) is when we get a random person that asks* for help on what he can do better, I can at least tell them everything I have learned from playing ~900 tpvp matches in hopes they get better themselves. Unfortunately, most tpvp games solo queue; nobody says anything, I will even ask “who will get our home point” and nobody responds, so I have gotten to the idaf point and play in hopes* my team knows wtf they are doing, until I make a premade later in the day. The main point I am trying to say is that playing tpvp barely* teaches you how to really tpvp, but most people don’t put to effort to learn how to play it.

edit: I would change the achievement to something reasonable (over a month) like 10 tpvp wins, 3 is a joke for most people that tpvp (even 10) which can be done in 1 day.
