Berserker + Ranger runes for PvE

Some tricks in addition to focus swiftness. 6 centaur superior runes with like mantra of recovery will give u near perma swiftness. u can get swift moa feathers from tigg npc or trading post, but that may be costly in the long run(buy order of 18s right now for 30 min).

Centaur runes, focus and Ether feast works too. You can use focus and stack swiftness with Ether Feast after, and when it’s done you can do it again.

But yeah, mesmers need a +25% move speed signet, as does other professions. We have signets with worthless passives already, just need to change them.

Centaurs Runes + Cold Potion (exotic) purchased for less than 1s from the TP also give 100% swiftness.

Swim.6830:

Mesmer and Necros stack tons of conditions and remove boons left and right – no one bats an eye.

Ele gets 25 might stacks and everyone loses their minds…

Mind you, with the current rune setup, almost any class can do the 25 might stack and be more effective than Ele, especially vs a Necro.

Since when has a mesmer ever removed a ton of conditions?

Mesmers are in a lackluster spot right now.
Shatter is more or less dead due to ferocity nerfs
Same for phantasm builds
Stun lock is where they seem to be headed but this means no swiftness
Condie PU is meh and boring
Power PU has been nerfed as well due to ferocity
Only need a couple Mesmers to be veil bots in raids, otherwise they are pretty useless

Still have a lot of bugs (e.g. iwarden bug which goes all the way back to November 2013 patch)

This isn’t a new bug. It’s been around forever. The 1 sec fear is still there even if you replace the runes or transmute the skin – as long as you wear all 6 pieces. The CoE armour summons golems.

You people are out of your kittening minds. If you’re using Mantras on a Mesmer, you’re playing the class wrong. Mantras blow, they always have and they always will. I can’t believe the amount of people in here freaking out over a freakin’ MANTRA change. Do yourselves a favor, go with a 10/30/0/0/30 max DPS shatter build and thank me later.

Empowered Mantras was very good for PvE unlike Shatter builds which suck for PvE.

Yeah, strength runes are OP atm. There are decent alternatives though: pack runes for fury and swiftness + swiftness duration, something that mesmers normally lack ; traveller runes are also nice for +boon duration and movement speed bonus.

Centaur + Mantra of Recovery is nearly 100% up-time on swiftness for 1/100th of the cost of Traveler Runes.

Pack can be fun esp. if you are running in groups a lot.

You can also use an exotic endless Cold Potion along with Centaur runes to get 100% swiftness.

Ruby orbs are:

Also bugged: illusions don’t wear the same clothes as the Mesmer (I believe it is mostly town clothes).

Good job on breaking the Mesmer class (which was pretty broken before the last patch).

You used to able to get a 1 sec fear if you used light armour from TA, even after changing out the Nightmare runes. Not sure if that was ever fixed or not but last time I checked, it was not fixed.

It wasn’t dirty, it was smart tactics and the only chance at beating the then bandwagon population of SBI.

Yes, YB teaming up with Ebay to beat SBI was one trick that worked at the time but that was once. You can’t rely on using this trick again.

The key to winning WvW comes down to population and coverage and any server with both of those is most likely going to win.

Seen this happen before where the two lord’s duked it out in NE tower. Rare bug that can happen.

Honestly. as far as “scummy moves” go, I’d consider bandwagoning and stacking a server for easy wins to be far worse than collusion to bring a bandwagon down. But, as a YB player since beta, of course I’d say that.

It was a rhetorical question but yes, joining a bandwagon server is basically like trying to buy yourself a win.

During the first season Yak’s Bend completely colluded with Ebay to beat Stormbluff Isle. At one point they allowed Ebay to take their entire BL for PPT, and escorted Ebay’s zerg around so it could take SBI’s keeps and towers.

It was disappointing.

thx ppl! i think im sticking w mesmer. any build specificly tailored for ascalonian catacombs?

AC is eles kingdom. P1 and 3 with 1- 2 eles in the group can be done under 10 min. It actually can be done under 10 min with any high DPS good group but eles makes it incredible easy. Regular Zerk phat build with all reflections traited. Use sw/f sw/p for spider and gravelings. Change to S/P and GS for burrows and try to pick up Icebow or Flamesword. Skills on spider null field MofR feedback and TW. I constanly change skills. SOme are good for running like decoy mass invis blink othes for fighting. 1 i keep always MofR.
BTW centaur runes are for poor people. If you have money go for traveler if not runes of speed. By some reason everybody in dungeons trying to speed clear it and get annoyed when you last to the party. I think all speed running thing is a bit idiotic cos it saves few min for a good group and kills mediocre groups but better go with the flow.

Centaur runes are fine for skipping trash in Arah and Traveler’s runes are not needed for any dungeon. Oh and Greatsword is terrible.

EOTM is terrible. Terrible map. Every bridge you take feels like you are getting farther away from where you are trying to go. Re-spawn takes forever to get back. Bad, bad, bad.

Been playing my Mesmer since launch for over a year now but pretty much stopped playing my Mesmer in WvW because while they can be strong 1v1, they suck in zergs and are pretty much only used for our utilities (Veil, Portal and maybe Null Field or Feedback).

Their lack of AoE damage means that they tag less opponents which reduces the amount of bags and WXP that they get, meaning they also rank up slower.

My Warrior on the other hand does so much more damage, gets more loot bags, ranks up much faster and is way more useful.

Celestial is terrible.

And for Fractals, every class goes Berserker.

Nerfing vigor makes Scepter clone generation look good. Good job Anet!

I have been using an Endless Tonic + Centaur runes for about 6 months now. Works great. However I only use Centaur armour occasionally and prefer Traveler’s runes for condition and power builds.

Full zerker guardian, only got loot twice. The other times no loot from the Knights.

So Lame.

You will need the exotic or better for the achievement iirc.

Just coming back to my necro. used to play condi Necro in the past. Oozo, could you link your 30/10/0/0/30 power build traits, sigils and gear? Is this zerkers or a mix?

Unless you are rich, I recommend not purchasing any expensive runes like Scholar until the March 18th patch. Some rumours that Scholar may get nerfed and others possibly buffed. For now just use Ruby Orbs which are cheap.

3g per rune, or 21g for all 7 armor pieces, for a BiS rune is only for “rich” people? It’s a total steal – much better than any other option as of now. There really is no excuse not to have them.

I have no problem spending almost any amount of gold to min/max a build for PvE or WvW. However since we are like 3-4 weeks away from possible nerfs/buffs to runes and sigils, it might be better to wait to see what happens.

An alternate for PvE might be using ruby orbs instead of scholar runes and then replace the ruby orbs after March 18th.

Hammer warriors in zergs aren’t there for their ‘damage’ or ‘crit’, they are there for their CC and Condi removal. PVT + Zerkers.
