This is currently the latest build I have been using in Dungeons and Events.
I swap between every weapon except the Greatsword quite regularly when I use this build and enjoy that about it.

With the Scepter I always use Torch or Pistol.
With the Sword I use an off hand Sword, Pistol, or a Focus.
I used to hate the Staff and found it very boring, enjoying the GS more of the 2-handers… Now it’s the opposite.

A problem I have had (and when I usually die or get downed) is if i’m fighting ranged and my enemies close distance to me and so in response I switch to melee, I usually take way more damage than I can handle if i’m against for example a bursting hard hitting warrior. Letting my enemies get to melee range is usually when I take damage and occasionally struggle to survive.
Not sure if this is a problem with the way I play or if it’s a gear thing or what… How can i fix this in this build?

Recently I finished map exploration (/cheer) with this character and now want to try out sPvP, PvP, and WvWvW for the first time. Ideally I’d like to have as good of builds as possible that switch as little things out as possible when switching between PvE and WvWvW for example preferably without a trait respec but rather just switching between as little in number of items taking up my invetory space as possible, switching a few traits around… ect. if need be.

The utility skills I use the most are Feedback, Null Field, Phantasmal Disenchanter, Phantasmal Defender, Mantra’s of Concentration and Resolve, Blink, sometimes Portal Entre if there’s a need also on previous builds I’ve enjoyed Decoy, Mirror Images, and Signet of Domination.
I’ve never been a fan of Veil, Arcane Thievery, Illusion of Life, Mimic, or the other Mantra’s and Signets though I’ve tried them out.

Does Retaliatory Shield actually even do that much damage, a player had told me that it’s actually a very low amount of damage and made me wonder if Phantasmal Fury would be a better choice? (II and III Dueling)

What I’d like to know mostly is…
How viable are these builds for different situations (sPvP, PvP, WvWvW, ect.)?

I’d love to have a one trait point spec fits all situations build and want to try a Lockdown build (is there a different trait and/or weapon spec I could do to make the 2nd build lockdown? also where would that shine), I don’t like phantasm builds as they are not fast paced enough for me… and I find myself always waiting on cooldowns.
I don’t feel confident with having chosen the best Runes and especially Sigils for these builds so feedback on that as well would be nice.

Why would you even consider using a condition build for PvE? Blackwater is a WvW/spvp build.

Unless you are rich, I recommend not purchasing any expensive runes like Scholar until the March 18th patch. Some rumours that Scholar may get nerfed and others possibly buffed. For now just use Ruby Orbs which are cheap.

Show some duels against the more OP classes like condition necro.

I have 0 issues with necro’s. Necro’s can definitely beat this build but I have yet to come across one that is traited/slotted to directly counter. If fraps didn’t hurt my game so badly I would be happy to post some videos. What program do you guys use for recording gameplay?

I use Fraps at the moment, it does provide the best recording quality but obviously the issue is that your FPS takes a complete dump. I’ve managed to roam while recording at around 20-30 FPS, although it is difficult.

Another program is DXTory, also a very decent program that provides decent quality. Your FPS still takes a dump but it isn’t as bad as Fraps.

If you have an NVIDIA graphics card that is GTX series 700+, you can grab NVIDIA Shadowplay for free. The quality may not be as great but I think it is still in beta which means it has room for improvement. It has little to no FPS dropoff, and also has interesting features where Shadowplay “shadows” gameplay meaning that if you forgot to press the record button, it still has that gameplay available for you up to a certain point.

Others are either meh or I haven’t tried

MSI Afterburner – Not fancy but almost Fraps quality without killing your FPS.

Rifles are a bad choice in dungeons.

Truth. Every class is better in melee than ranged for dungeons/fractals.

~600 per projectile x 2 projectiles = 1200 damage and I often see ~700 × 2 = 1400 damage from longbow AA.

For PvE and tagging mobs in Lion’s Arch event for example, Longbow is the best way to do that for a warrior. However, Guardian is hands-down the best for tagging mobs just by using their AA on their lootstick staff.

For WvW I run both a Rifle/GS and Longbow/GS builds and in most cases the Longbow build is better. The F1/#3 combo can often insta-down your enemy.

Zerkers = PVE and small group/solo roam WvW
PVT = WvW Front of Zerg Hammer builds Soldiers/Zerker mix. (usually Soldiers armour, Zerker’s trinkets)

You might get buy with Zerker’s armour and then having different sets of Jewelry & Weapons.

I would like to see Mesmer Confusion buffed (un-nerfed!) to make it more viable. Mesmer’s were (supposed to be) the confusion class before the confusion nerf.

Generally, abilities are aligned from the shortest cooldown (key 1) to the abilities with the longest cooldown (key 5) for all weapons for all classes. Nothing stops you from binding the keys differently though.

A PU Mesmer can’t kill you if you don’t fight him.

It’s the second cheapest way to get an ascended back piece after Fractals.

This happens in WvW too where none of your skills work. The best way to fix this is to open your inventory and double-click on a piece of siege then press #2 to put the siege away. This usually fixes the problem.

The other two ways are get downed or log out.

I can’t believe Phantasmal Warden is still not fixed.

The map is hard and confusing to navigate. Every bridge takes you away from where you want to go. If you die, it is a long way to run back. I think the map designers had too much of a kitten for ledges.

Can you link your power build?

Doing CoF is the easiest way to get Berserker armour and weapons.

Glad I stopped playing my Mesmer over the last month or so.

I randomly fear 1 second at a time on my condie Mesmer.

Using Traveler Runes with the Blackwater build is perfectly viable. I’ve been doing it for months.

Also quit using terms like prowess, malice, concentration, etc. – those are terms that the majority don’t use anymore.

Classes should be successful at both roaming and in zergs – just not necessarily with the same spec. Mesmers are only ‘superior’ roaming because of the current PU condition build which is getting nerfed. And the only reason Mesmers bring roaming builds to raids is because the class doesn’t really have a decent raid build to begin with.

I’m fine with giving mesmers better group support, but it needs to come at the expense of nerfing their 1v1 abilities.

Next patch, Masmer 1v1 capability will be nerfed with the proposed changes to Critical Infusion and Deceptive Evasion.

Unless things change, Celestial is getting a huge nerf. I would stay away from it for now.

Something with 25% movement speed.

iWarden has been broken since late November and really needs to be fixed. Seriously.

Playing my Mesmer since launch, I totally feel I have no choice but the use Traveler’s Runes in almost every Mesmer build for WvW. I have tried other runes in the past and would love to try new runes in the future but I keep coming back to Travelers.

Anything else is really too slow and not all builds work with focus. Focus swiftness is also too short and doesn’t stack with other forms of swiftness either. Centaur runes are still only viable in a few builds and again, don’t provide 100% swiftness (without cheesing it with a cold potion).

With the upcoming nerfs to Mesmers (Critical Infusion and Deceptive Evasion), Mesmers will be weaker in 1v1 roaming. However, this also makes Mesmers a lot weaker in zerg vs zerg where they were already pitifully weak to begin with.

No speed = no dice.

I can’t play with 25% movement speed anymore.

Mesmer’s are there to help other classes in the zerg to get loot bags.

By the way, for a list of named armor with insignia that you can salvage:

• Rabid – Khilbron, Vatlaaw, Galrath
• Dire – Jatoro, Errol, Yakkington
• Shaman – Tahlkora, Reyna, Jalis

No named armor for Magi, Soldier, or Cavalier.

You can get Magi, Soldier and Cav named armour from Fractals and those do salvage into insignias.
