@OP I feel like we’re wearing the same shoes.
I’ve played since the beta weekends, took a 6 month break after the ascended news broke, which went against what they said were going to do for the game. Came back and spent most of the my time in WvW.

The game is getting more toxic because anet is putting more elements into the game that splits from their original design. When you put in more exclusive content like 10 man raids, that forces players to only take the best class the best spec the best players, it invites and promotes a competitive attitude with it that will spread into other sections of the game.

When you introduce failing events as a way to progress you introduce a split on how players have played this game for 3 years, they promoted playing together in events with participation and no “kill stealing” involved, and ressing players to help you. Then you introduce meta’s like TD which I also have never seen succeed, and I’ve even ferried into organized maps to try, the only way I will be able to do that map is to join up with a TTS group doing it, much like triple trouble.

Then you run into the players in map chat who get it done and think it’s fine, learn to play, git gud etc. I’m sure there’s a lot of players who don’t even bother with that map anymore because frankly who cares it’s not worth the trouble, it’s the worse out of the 4 new maps. Yes Auric basin is my favorite as well.

The RNG issue, all over the place with that one. I have a friend who use to get a couple exotics and a bunch of rares every single fractal run, for me, I’d be lucky to get 1 exotic a week and they had less magic find than me. Never got a precursor, and I know of people who have gotten 3 or 4 of them.

I noticed when I went away for a month and came back, the first few days seemed like my account got a magic find boost cause I picked up a few exotics from that, maybe new accounts get the same “effect”. One of my friends who got his account banned for a week, came back and noticed that they weren’t getting good drops anymore. I’m sure there isn’t a system in place for all this, but it just “really” feels/seems like there is.

I’m also annoyed with the mastery points. I skipped all the living story achievements for a reason (because I really didn’t want to redo it all over again, how about giving me access to the achievements the first time I go through it), and now I will be forced to do them if I want to progress in the mastery lines. I’m annoyed with the adventures, in much of the same reason I don’t like jumping puzzles, I didn’t sign up for super mario brothers.

Not to mention the jump function in this game is not very responsive against edges and it drives me nuts, if I’m pushing against a ledge in front of me I have to slam my spacebar in order to jump, or stop jump then push forward. But you really only need to go that far into mastery if you are going to do the new legendary crafting.

I know some of the reasoning in forcing players to do certain parts of the game is trying to promote that part of the game, like trying to get pve players into wvw or spvp, and vice versa for those other modes. But if players were interested in the other areas they would try it on their own, we don’t need to be “forced” into the other areas of the game. While achievements were always the light reward in dabbling in other areas, masteries are now the heavy handed way to push you into them, creating more annoyances and frustration with the game.

My other frustrations come from WvW and Guildshalls, and the attention Spvp is getting right now, yup I’m jealous. They’ve destroyed WvW for me, but meh whatever at the end of the day, it’s just a game, and Anet can destroy it however they want. In the meantime I’m working on my very first legendary, an old one not the new one cause well precursor bought vs crafted is another good anet joke…
I’ll just have to keep my eye out for something else as well.

I think they were looking at how many were playing for the whole day, and not just parts of it, otherwise they would have seen that friday was the busiest night for wvw. If they were even looking at metrics anyways, they wanted to move it to saturday for other reasons.

Slowly but surely I am moving from being angry to just not caring anymore.

/shrug I’m already at that point. Just really no point anymore.

But yeah golem week, the entire week of exploits and not even 1 post about it, but exploits come up in pvp and they get right on it, hell they even shut down stronghold right away when they found the stealth bug. Makes me sick seeing that, but acceptance is washing over now.

WvW Defense is Making a Rebound

The cost is still too unreasonable. Besides of which as you go lower in tiers there’s more dead times and therefore easier for your claimed structure to flip at any time, so who’s going to spend all that gold on something that probably won’t last past your prime time.

Players will obviously defend what they sunk time and gold into, that’s why upgraded T3 waypointed keeps got defended, something Anet forgot to take into account when they made the new maps and messing with the waypoints.

The material requirements for wvw schematics need to be lowered, by a lot.

Again Coalescence of Ruin Broken Damage

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Xenesis.6389

There really shouldn’t be any skill in the game that should do more critical damage than a player’s minimum health pool (warriors use to with rifle but then zerk got nerfed), otherwise it becomes a one shot game and do we really want that to happen? I’m sure the ones delivering the damage will be giddy, until they start receiving it back. The game already boosted damage a lot since the Jun 23 patch, we don’t need one shot skills present in the game.

Now for the, “learn to dodge!”, you can’t dodge each and every one of them especially when in pvp where it can get hectic in fights. Just because the game has a dodge doesn’t mean you should be putting in skills that can one shot classes, otherwise why stop at 17k why not 30k or 50k? That works for pve mobs because most times they’re not running around constantly and there’s a big telegraph for their hard hitting skills(yes I know CoR has it too), but they also don’t spam those skills, there are very few mobs that would one shot anyways and it’s mostly bosses.

There should be a balance with skills, if a skill is going to do major damage(with or without traits) then it needs to be on a longer cooldown to counterbalance this, something the developers apparently forgot when making the revenant and dragonhunter.

Finally, I don’t care about the damage for pve, pump that up all you want, I enjoy seeing 30k+ crits on Teq, but pvp damage needs to be kept at a balanced level.

A lot of the masteries are useless, so feel free to skip them entirely. You can easily save yourself 40+ points. If you care about a high mastery level however, keep in mind that completing the raid is a requirement.

You need them maxed if you want the new legendaries.
If don’t care about that, then yeah not all of them are needed.

All game related stuff from official Anet staff should be posted on your official forums or website, period. Obviously game promotions get posted anywhere.

If you want to spread the word on multiple fronts in different languages, then fine do so, but post the information on your own official forums/website first.

Does Anet really not understand the damage that is being done to community relations when you ignore your forums and go post on outside forums? It’s ridiculous that players have to go scavenger hunt for information on other sites.

Since devs post on their own time. they’re free to post wherever they feel most comfortable. Looking at reddit and looking at the official forums, if I were a dev, I’d feel more comfortable on reddit too.

I feel like I find less biased posts on reddit, and more analytical informative posts there.

Also because the community maintains reddit, banal, insulting or worthless posts are usually downvoted to oblivion, where as constructive criticism often gets a lot of upvotes.

So Reddit does their sorting for them.

If part of a dev’s official responsibility was posting to these forums, you might have a point OP. But it’s not. And in their own time, Anet employees can post anywhere they feel like it.

Excuse me sir, but if they posted those reddit posts on here instead, the atmosphere here wouldn’t be degrading every day.

They obviously have time to post about issues on here if they are currently doing so on reddit, so do it on their own official forums, show support to the customers who paid for their game, and are on here looking for support and direction.

They need to consolidate their posting on gaming issues to one forum, if they want to post somewhere else about non game related stuff they feel free to do so like anyone else. This forum is suppose to be the direct gateway between the company and it’s customers, so start using it. You think it would be ok if Apple started replying to customers over on the Microsoft forums instead? Hey maybe Dell should head over to the Newegg forums to reply to customers.

It’s too uncomfortable for them? well I’m sorry but that’s on them, communication is a two way street, their customers are on here stating their concerns, it’s up to Anet to reply. You don’t throw up a post like Mike did about communicating more with us and then go back to being even worse than before.

They like the up down voting system? then implement it in here on the boards. So bloody stupid how badly this company handles communications and marketing.

How to Fix WVW Part Two

Xenesis.6389

You can read the first part here…
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wuv/How-to-Fix-WVW-5/first#post5822763

Ok to continue on my quest to hopefully open the eyes of Anet here goes….

You might want to post it on reddit then….. just saying…. XD

I agree with environment playing a part of enjoyment, it just feels better roaming around in the pve winter zones like frostgorge than say orr, but I’m not sure that’s the reason EBG is popular. For WvW players it’s about being able to move around quickly from one place to another and finding good open areas or chokes to fight in, and EBG has a good mixture of both.

Also the structures play an important part on the EBG map with all of them placed in ways that can reach other important structures around them, every side has at least two towers that can hit the keep and two that can hit SMC. Something the new map is lacking, as well as having it’s waypoints changed which messed up gameplay on on it.

P.S EBG also has an important piece of structure in the middle of the map that lures players to it, and promotes constant fighting, Stonemist Castle. Unlike the other failed middle of the map areas, the lake, the ruins, the oasis, and even the middle area of eotm “the juncture”, have all come off as areas too annoying to bother with.

Predictions from before HoT vs reality

in WvW

Posted by: Xenesis.6389

Xenesis.6389

Personally I didn’t think that many would come back for WvW, I mentioned it to a few friends how many do we really think will come back to their servers? 50? 100? certainly not 3-500 that most servers really could use. The only servers I expected to fair well were JQ and maybe BG, who have not had any major implosions and not that much population moving out over the years. There are a few servers that have imploded over the years, some multiple times, and guilds have been constantly moving up in tiers for 2 years.

There was nothing new for WvW other than a new borderland and auto upgrades, and when you really think about it how many players really left because of the old borderland map? I think the majority of them left because of other reasons which the expansion did not fix such as the ppt game and stale unbalanced matchups.

I think players were under the assumption that just because it’s an expansion they expected players to come back in droves, it happens time and again with WoW, they were down to 7 million customers, went back to 10 million with the last expansion, and now down to 5 million. But that’s mostly because of PvE.

Problem is when you don’t fix the major problems with WvW and players see how much of a mess it is from these forums with almost no developer post, what’s the point of coming back? I mean the borderland map was FREE and still barely anyone came back for it. Instead WvW has probably lost more players in the last month than it had in the last year.

First week out and the borderland was already empty. I at least expected it to get a couple weeks of play, since it wasn’t fully tested in beta, it only had two tests, with the second test being a real desert because most players from the first test didn’t even know they had access to the second one, a clusterduck on Anet’s part.

Guildhalls also are a major roadblock with it resetting WvW guild upgrades while doing damage to small guilds. I’m sure a few have left the game disgusted with how that turned out. GvG guilds at least have their arena to screw around with.

Spvp is getting a lot of support these days too, they’re even getting their own legendary back piece to create, nameplate additions to show off, new league running. I’m sure more players are leaving wvw to focus on that too, cause really, there’s nothing left in wvw other than zerging it up in ebg for some fights.

Good visual clarity, you cant even see auras now! Great job nerfing thief because that was totally needed! Thanks for adding precursor scavenger hunts, but maybe next time you should check and make sure you can complete them? Amazing new specializations, these “equal” specs are now part of every classes core build, overloaded in every possible way! Amazing work adding 10x more cosmetics to the gemstore than that were available with the expansion! Oh and need I mention fractals, what great design and rewards, so happy that I dont have to run dungeons OR fractals anymore!

I have tried being nice and constructive for three and a half years because I kittening love this game. But this is enough, the devs are so out of touch its disgusting and I’m sick of being treated like a child that they just want to take money from.

And you know what makes this even worse? The devs dont say anything. Nothing at all. No replies to anything but irrelevant and kitten questions, because they are too scared to make promises and let down the community. But not communicating is more than letting us down, its driving people away and keeping them from helping YOU improve the game.

“We are working on it!” “Its on the table” Really now? Removing beautiful effects from the game is your highest priority? More so than changing numbers on fractal rewards?

Write off my post as an angry teenager who plays too much of this game, but we can all see some truth to this and it needs to stop. Communicate with your players anet, listen to what they actually want or you are going to run out of players eventually.

Mike O’Brien would like to have a word with you Mister!

A long time ago in a galaxy far far away

I know some are concerned about whether ArenaNet is communicating with you and listening and responding to your feedback. As you saw with yesterday’s announcement, we do. All of us at ArenaNet play the game with you, chat with you and read your forum posts, and work on the things that we think will most delight and entertain you.

We’ve set a clear policy in the past year: we don’t talk speculatively about future development. We don’t want to string you along. Creating fun is an uncertain business: sometimes things work out and sometimes they don’t; sometimes we go back to the drawing board over and over before we get something right. If we make optimistic promises and then can’t deliver on them, everyone suffers. So when we attend a trade show or give an interview, we’re there to talk about what we’re getting ready to ship, not to speculate on what we might ship someday.

Don’t read that as meaning that we don’t want to talk with you about the longer-term roadmap. The intention of the CDI threads is to talk with you about the roadmap. We want to talk design philosophy with you and hear how you want to see the game evolve. When those discussions trigger development, we’ll work internally until we have something we’re proud of before we’ll announce it.

A lot of the questions I’ve seen posted this week are as simple as this: does ArenaNet have an agenda to never do something? That’s almost never the case, and if it is the case you deserve to know and we’ll make sure we get more clear. In general the simple truth is this: when we’re not currently working on something, it’s because we’re working on something else instead that we think is more important for the game and community.

Our developers post on these forums on a voluntary basis, and in addition to developers, we have a community team who can clarify and be the bridge between players and developers. They’re ready to engage you on these topics. And I know it’s hard for the community team to engage players across all the forums and sites where these questions are being discussed, so I’m going to support the team in consolidating and focusing as necessary, so that we can be clear to the community where you can go to get a response.

See you in-game,
Mike O’Brien

The celebration definitely should have at least included all the major characters you interacted with throughout your PS.

Dude, it did. Not only are most of them there when you cleanse Orr, they’re all there at Fort Trinity during the party. Just wander around. You can talk to all of them (and they all talk to each other). The only ones not there are from the level 10 and 20 story arcs which have nothing to do with Orr or Zhaitan or the Risen (so it makes sense that they’re not there).

Oh were they? Basically only saw destiny’s edge surrounding me, didn’t bother exploring after the walk with Trahearne, being human was expecting Queen Jennah and Countess Anise to show up at least. Also you just saved the entire world, so yes it would make sense to have everyone there for a massive celebration.

Requirement for Berserker. Really?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Xenesis.6389

Xenesis.6389

Raid bosses are going to have enrage timers and will always be a dps check. If you don’t plan on being the main tank for raids then you will have to work on being dps, that requires you to drop toughness for more power or condi, and learn to mitigate damage in other ways. There’s only room for 10 players in these new raids, 1 tank type, 1 healer type and the rest a mix of dps and support.

Only problem I see with raiding in this game is that it will require you to farm up different dps sets in order to change your strategy for certain bosses, while in a game like WoW you’re farming one dps set and only worry about boss mechanics. Supposedly the fights will start to require ascended geared players as well.

The 15k ap required is laughable though, but something that was already expected to happen. Enjoy the drama with raiding, I’m sure there’s more to come as players get on to the harder bosses.

*HOT SPOILERS* So I finished the PS again

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Xenesis.6389

I just finished the PS as well last night for the first time, never bothered to before because of the grouping requirement and it was sitting in the 70’s missions, but well mastery orb.

Anyways there is closure with the PS because the story was completed (even if orr is still the same lol), the HoT storyline is definitely not over and I expect it to continue with the living story early next year. Living story season 2 was the build up which they told over the course of 6 months, HoT is the middle which will be around for 4-6 months, before they move on to the end chapters probably over a course of 6 months as well into next summer. Not that much different than WoW which usually spends the year after an expansion release, releasing new content (new zones/raids) to finish their stories up for that expansion.

As for epic feels? Going through the last few chapters of the PS it felt like they were killing off every partner I had just to try and make the story more emotionally attached to the character, oh hey anon npc #325, welcome to my squad, here’s your red shirt, have a good day! Yeah I’m gonna get you now dragon! (shakes fist a lot). The celebration was a let down, after all that was done and the world was saved, I get some alone time with Trahearne, yay? XD The celebration definitely should have at least included all the major characters you interacted with throughout your PS.

The HoT story I felt a lot more attached to because of the team developed under the character, who you’ve had personal interactions with since season 1, and included moments that were actually shocking and sad to me. The fight with Mordie was more challenging (especially when dealing with dc’s and bugs!) from a single player perspective, as I don’t know what the group fight was like in the PS end. Now what we are left with was a cliffhanger, so no time to celebrate just yet.

Was the HoT story short? yes it was. But when it’s all said and done I’m sure we’ll find that LS2, HoT, and LS3 all together, completed, probably will have more meaningful content than the PS.

Does that justify HoT’s pricing? No it does not. Maybe if LS2 portion had come with HoT as well and not a year before it could have helped with that, but not much as there are other problems with the expansion and it’s pricing.

Why is everyone so mad about the precursor?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Xenesis.6389

Xenesis.6389

Time is money friend.

Original precursors, you play with the wishing toilet to fish one up, or just buy one off the trading post. The new crafted precursors are forcing you to spend more gold AND time to craft them.

What people are failing to understand is that one version shouldn’t cost more time and gold to get, than the other version that just cost outright gold, otherwise what is the point? Is that really a fair balance? Why would any sane player do the crafting route? Just sell the components that are costing more gold and buy the precursor.

Players just wanted a guaranteed way to obtain precursors without having to spend more than they already cost on the trading post. So the other factor to use would be time. There are already account bound components involved that require time to harvest such as crystalline ores, but it needed more that involved and less of the costly ascended items to make.

That’s how it’s been for GW2 from the start, if you wanted something right away you bought it off the trading post, if you had time you would go grind for it instead, one or the other NOT BOTH.

I suspect Anet expected prices for precursors to eventually rise to match and overtake the prices for the crafted ones at some point, so they will not say or do anything.

Collecting 250 mystic coins is not an “epic” adventure, get that out of here.

We asked for those upgrades to it years ago.

As for the “grand plan to revive wvw” at this point I’ll believe when I see it, it’s just offhand comments we’re hearing.

Your Ideal Borderland map

in WvW

Posted by: Xenesis.6389

Xenesis.6389

All I want to say is: No matter what map they design you will have the 3 upgrade tiers. And it will obviously always be easier to cap t1 rather than t3. Which means that ANet can not do anything if you decide to go for easy t1 keeps instead of fighting for t3 keeps. But this also means that you can’t blame ANet for not seeing an enemy if you don’t want to attack their defended structures but decide to go ktrain all day long. So it is the players fault as a matter of fact.

Who designed it to have 3 tiers of upgrades? Who’s fault is it that it’s easier to take a T1 over a T3 structure? they could have designed structures to have T3 walls and doors at all times and use the upgrades on other things. Taking a T3 over a T1 structure is time consuming, harder in some cases depending on the defense, and not even more rewarding unless you manage to bag farm.

One of the main reasons players went to other maps is to break waypoints, but what did anet do with the new map? They took out the waypoints on the side keeps, that made it harder for defenders to come defend and also made them care less to even bother, T1 or T3 we get the same ppt out of it. It made it harder for attackers to defend it after, oh but emergency waypoints? yeah check out scribing outrageous leveling and cost.

My point is the players play in the sandbox with the rules set forth by Anet. Players go around in zergs because it’s more rewarding and easier for mitigating damage, clearing conditions, healing, focusing damage, straight out numbers will beat smaller groups of greater skill especially after the damage changes they did earlier this year. Players will always take the easy road, it’s up to Anet to design content to break that up, like they try to do for pve meta events, silverwastes is a good example of how to break the zerg up, unless they’re chest farming lol.

Anet has refused to look at the population problems and wvw for the most part for 3 years, so when I run around wvw and see 3 out of 4 maps empty almost 90% of the time yes I get to blame anet, they are the ones that are in control of the design of the game. There’s so much less players playing right now, that everyone is just picking ebg to play on.

If anet wants to make new maps more pve focused because they somehow have this idea that wvw players are really into pve, then so be it, but don’t blame players for not playing the new map if you didn’t give them what they wanted meanwhile screwing up other vital parts of wvw.

It needs to focus on large scale fights.

Has WvW ever been anything else? Definitely not roaming focused. And it’s by far not ANets problem if players decide to k-train instead of searching for fights.

Anet designs the maps, they design the classes, they designed the siege weapons, they designed the old crappy squad functions, they designed the poorly implemented commander tags, they force the tactics with the fields and blast they give access to certain classes. It’s not the players fault they came up with the easy and efficient way to use them all with zerging. If you want something that’s roamer focused, I hear the new BL has trouble finding zergs on it.

Will you prepurchase next expansion?

Xenesis.6389

Didn’t get this expansion until a day before release, figuring my small guild would need help with the hall. Seeing what they did with guildhalls and the insane upgrades that are not treated fairly to every type of guild, I probably would have been fine without the expansion and the material grinds.

Gliding is isn’t exactly “awesome” to me as I’ve already done “flying” in other games. Reaper and dragon hunter are fun, warriors destroyed, the rest are meh. Only 4 new maps, auric basin is great, dragonstand right behind that, verdant behind that, tangled depths I hate.

Don’t plan on pre-purchasing the next expansion, or even getting it if they keep on their path to destroy wvw.

A rectangle shaped EBG.

What? it’s simple, got a middle objective that players want to fight over, open areas for good fights, easy to get around and find enemies, has it’s fair share of ambush points.

If they had made the new map with ebg not eotm in mind, it probably would have worked out better.

Too expense to unlock, too expensive to create, and you’ll only want to use them on something you can keep for a while, like your keeps and maybe the north structures on homebl.

Even if this was an excuse to make up for the old upgrade cost, that way was still a hella lot cheaper.

Can we talk about scribing for a min, devs?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Xenesis.6389

Xenesis.6389

If they wanted scribing to be something that only a few would unlock for a guild, fine, I can go along with that. Make the process of researching the schematics difficult. But after you’ve done researching the schematic, why do they also have to require a ridiculous cost of mats to make each time?

Here I thought Guildwars 2 was developed with the opposite of that in mind.
Seems this entire expansion is about restricting access in one thing or another, and I know they want the content to last for a while cause we ain’t getting another expansion in quite a while, but this is ridiculous.

P.S I’ve been farming flax on 9 characters and both farms plus whatever from playing for a week and only got like 129 flax fibers out of that, and 1 schematic cost 125 fibers alone? 1? one? uno? 1o1 101 lol LOL!

You guys make sound like none of that ever happened in here. There have been many calm and productive discussions, including CDI’s, the problem here is the developers choose to ignore this forum entirely, and now that has gone on long enough they’re probably afraid to even post here, resorting to posting on reddit instead if they do.

Obviously at this point players will rage, fume, flame, whine, nothing left to do, the developers don’t listen and our favorite part of the game is dying.

Even bug reports say to come here and post about it, that’s funny.

Nobody Playing: Something must be done

in WvW

Xenesis.6389

That’s not really what they said. They didn’t specify that they were talking about wvw participation – I think they were talking about general numbers, so e.g. players who only play pve were included, too. My interpretation of what they said is: “More people log in on Saturdays than on Fridays, so we’ll change the reset to Saturday so that more people can enjoy it.”

Here’s a link to the post: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wuv/WvW-and-the-Heart-of-Thorns-Release/page/6#post5614578

Now I don’t really know why they thought that pve/pvp players would suddenly know that reset is happening while they are online on Saturday evening and rush to join it – because let’s face it, if you don’t care about a game mode you won’t read the news about it and you won’t know when things reset there.

In the end I guess it doesn’t really matter, though, as it wasn’t the primary reason for the reset change anyway.

I assume they were talking about wvw population because well wvw reset affects only wvw players. I certainly hope they didn’t move the reset thinking more pve players would suddenly participate because it was on a saturday instead, because they just sacrificed half the meaningful playtime of a matchup for all wvw players just for pve players.

Whether or not you look at the wvw or both populations at it doesn’t matter, more players will obviously play on a saturday than friday, but friday resets use to be jam packed and it was a good start to the weekend for many wvw players. Now we’re stuck with a completely dead friday and most of saturday for wvw. You’re right in the end they didn’t move it because of the metrics, it’s because it would be more convenient to them with the HoT release.

The game mode is dying, it’s been a month, it’s not going to recover to what it was before the expansion and it was already dying a slow death before that, unless they come out with some plan to blow our minds and I don’t expect that to happen. In the end I expect they will use this as a good excuse to finally ditch the tiers and switch things to eotm style of matching.

It’s pretty sad at this point… but hey gais! they just released a new raid! wvw players really LOVE to pve! so check it out!

No thanks. I’d rather it have a lower population than it used to have than being PvE 2.0.

Where else did you expect wvw population to grow from? another game? lol

WvW Guild Hall PoV.

in WvW

Posted by: Xenesis.6389

Xenesis.6389

If they had put any thought into wvw for the expansion and guild hall upgrades they could have implemented a few different things. War room upgrades should have had their own separate set of materials that dropped from wvw, they kitten well know the war room is for wvw only so why did they force wvw players to grind in pve?

Why put our precious +5 at guild level 37? Why put such a heavy cost on scribing wvw schematics? What a joke, no one is going to use tactivators for years until the cost comes down. It’s like the kitten wvw achievements all over again, and even that took them 3 years to fix. We didn’t buy the expansion to start over on the upgrades we already had kitten .

They could have implemented reward tracks that helped provide those materials, I mean even spvp has a reward track that provides silverwaste shovels. They could have had other materials for purchase for wvw badges giving them another use, they only have one in the hall right now. They could have made the materials drop from sentries and camp npcs, hell even put them on the keep lords, it would promote ktraining, but at least players would be on the new borderlands at this point.

The problem with this game and it’s developers is not everything is implemented fairly across the board. How many years did wvw players have to wait for them to finally make badge gear salvageable? The auto loot feature gets handed out to pve while wvw gets the cold shoulder again.

Spvp got revamped with reward tracks so their players don’t need to step out of pvp, they get tournaments with real cash prizes now. They even get a kitten buff every month that shows up every player everywhere promoting spvp for that time, while also reminding wvw players they’re still standing in the corner looking at the blank wall for being the red haired step child. Really that hard to provide the same buff for wvw once a month and give it the same promotion? seriously?

Squads finally got upgraded, but that’s only because of raids, otherwise it would still be in a useless state.

It’s obvious their focus right now is on raids, and what piece of the pie it can pull from the 5 million players that left WoW in the last year. Their greed in constantly looking for new players and not being fair to their veterans is what’s killing this game mode.

Good riddance. The less players with your kind of opinions in WvW the better. The “red is dead” and “wah, wah, WvW rewards suck” people can stay where they belong. Farming mobs in PvE until their eyes rot out of their heads.

Meanwhile in another borderland, another player has come to the same conclusion as the original poster, and another in lions arch has come to that same conclusion from word of mouth from friends, and another, and another….

Less players with your kind of opinions probably would have made wvw a better place as well, wvw is dying, less players are becoming less interested in joining, the don’t let the door hit you on the way out attitude is not helping. But who am I kidding anyways, anet doesn’t care about wvw either.

What's the grand plan with WvW

in WvW

Posted by: Xenesis.6389

Xenesis.6389

It is very obvious that Anet are just holding their breath right now hoping this is just temporary whining because the wvw community is not used to the new maps and the new system.

But I bet they are slowly beginning to see the reality:

That this will now sort it self out.

I also believe that. They probably thought, give it a couple weeks as everyone is in pve land, just like any other pve holiday event that happens wvw usually drops off a couple days.

Unfortunately there’s a combination of things that hit wvw hard, and it doesn’t look like it’s recovering this time. Halloween, expansion release, new wvw map, auto upgrades, elite spec grinds, guildhall mega grind for wvw upgrades and arena which forces you to go pve.

All these things have hurt small group roaming and havoc groups, those numbers are dwindling, the bigger zergs they’re sitting in ebg, they want to fight each other not the environment.

They might have a master plan up their sleeves, but how many wvw players will be around when it finally arrives? Their pride and joy currently is Raids, bet they think they can rope in some of the 5 million players that left wow in the last year with that.

Guild Raid Testing

Xenesis.6389

They have had a elitist view since the beginning. I thought that was the type of community Anet did not want to foster.

That’s the type of community you invite with raiding, elitism, arrogance, that all comes with raiding. More of it will be created along the way as they release much harder raids that will require much more skill and coordination.

Also not sure why people are up in arms about the raid being cleared so fast, other guilds did it in 3 hours or less. This was only the first raid boss, did people really think it was going to take days to clear? I expect the other bosses down the line that are expecting you to have all ascended gear, will take longer.

Raids and drama, who woulda thunk it.

You invited raiding guilds to beta test your raids, did you really think they wouldn’t go for #WorldFirst at release? Did anet really just left the raid tuned to DnT and not throw any loops to make it harder for them on day one? Also did no one follow raiding in WoW? I mean there are guilds that get sponsors for racing to world first kills. Did you really expect a guild like DnT wouldn’t race to kill the very first GW2 10 man raid boss??

Also… reading the first couple pages of this thread, and seeing what has transpired… LOL.

Actually someone got it to level 390 now and it’s bloody expensive. 3500 gold to get it from 140-390, but he bought most of the resonating slivers out, so it’s even more expensive now.

Also siege and tactic schematics are also expensive because of flax fibers. Maybe things will be better in a year when there’s enough supply of materials around.

But… what a slap in the face for wvw lol.

Maybe you succeeded with small guilds because of how dead the BLs are due to the new maps? Or maybe you enjoy the PvD? Who knows……OP’s point still stands. 37 level requirement for +5 supplies is simply ridiculous when it was so affordable previously.

37 requirement and 5g everytime to activate +5 supply.
I can’t write here what I’m saying about it and wvw changes in general in RL. >;|

The +5 is an aura actually and it’s attached to your claim along with the stat buffs power toughness precision vitality, magic find, wvw exp, and 25% run speed. It’s the other tactic upgrades such as hardened gates, that require scribing schematics.

Aura - Supply Capacity (+5) placed last?

in WvW

Posted by: Xenesis.6389

Xenesis.6389

It’s been suggested already, but doubt they would change it.

The +5 aura being placed at the end of the aura lines is ridiculous, but they did it because they knew how important it is. Now they force players to work through the guildhall upgrades to get it at level 37, otherwise most guilds would just get the +5 and whatever else needed to upgrade to claim keeps(level 22) and be done with upgrading.

WvW upgrades really should have heavily relied on wvw materials for upgrading, like add wvw only materials to upgrade in heavy loot bags or sentries and camp npcs (not wall structured npcs that would turn into a ktrain). Why such a heavy emphasis on pve to upgrade wvw only upgrades? when they admit they want to keep wvw rewards as measly as they are. Don’t even get me started on scribing being a ridiculously expensive part of upgrades now.

They do whatever they can to keep spvp players playing spvp, yet they don’t seem to want to do the same for wvw.
