“Game over man, Game Over!” – RIP Bill
WvW should just get reward tracks like sPVP. But I wish you could reward the players who really try in WvW.
Speaking of which, there’s a thread asking for more smaller task for wvw and the spvp type reward track is perfect for such a thing!
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wuv/WvW-needs-more-task-for-small-groups/first#post5123695
They really need to get themselves an events schedule going, and basically auto run an event every month or two like wow does. You don’t have to remake the event every year, just add a couple new things and you’re good to go.
I thought in the first year they were building for a regular schedule with monthly events but then they went down the living story path, and only certain main events are still there like halloween, christmas, queens pavilion.
I understand they’re all in with the expansion at the moment, but they could have set up quite a lot during this time.
Release every two weeks, start at the point of season 2 living story.
July – Living story | Living story
Aug – Living story | Queen’s pavilion
Sept – Wvw fall tournament 4 weeks (or run it in nov) | Living story optional
Oct – Living story | Halloween
Nov – Living story | Living story
Dec – Living story | Christmas
Jan – Winter break | Living story
Feb – Valentines | Living story optional
Mar – Super adventure box 1 & 2
Apr – WvW spring tournament 4 weeks
May – Dragon bash | Festival of the four winds
Jun – Intermission, festival will still be running.
Add a couple new items to get for the events and you’re done. You think Wow redo their events entirely every year? lol. I’m sure a lot of people will want to finish achievements too, they did get a lot of new accounts from the $10 sales I would assume.
(edited by Xenesis.6389)
They want you to panic and buy them, then 6-12 months later bring them back for another promotion. There’s really no need to remove stuff off a virtual store to make room for new stuff. Other than the gathering tools and such, so they can get people to buy newer versions.
I mostly run in a small havok group these days, there are things you can do as mentioned as a solo dual or 5 man havok squad in wvw. Take sentries, kill dolys, take camps, take towers, capture bloodlust, scout on enemy movements, kill enemy roamers/havok doing those exact things to your side. Even when outnumbered, nothing drops morale more than seeing your entire bl another color, so help out and keep the smaller things in your color.
WvW is about war with 3 sides, I’m not sure adding in pve events or mini games like king of the hill events will help. The ruins were added to be a place for the smaller groups to fight over something, and instead it’s just become an annoyance that needs to be recaptured every few minutes.
Orbs were a problem with fly hacking, they won’t return. You could put down open capture areas on the ground that sides can fight over, whomever caps it gets some extra points, but then population imbalances would ruin that.
Summon npc units with supply? We kinda have that with siegerazor and crusher. Before those were put in I use to like the idea of summoning units to help when outnumbered. Sorta looked to alterac valley battlegrounds in wow back in the day when you could summon units for your side.
Image a keep on homebl has been held for more than 6 hrs by the enemy, bring 1000 supply to spawn and summon a giant to come help break the outer wall down lol. I wouldn’t mind stuff like that as long as the trigger to do them was reasonable, not like every 5 mins like siegerazor.
I still wouldn’t mind the idea of putting in some repeatable events for times when your bl is dead and need something to do, still the option to kill the skritt and centaurs events in the north corners of the map. Just as long as it’s not stuff you “have” to do away from everything else like the ruins are now.
WvW isn’t a gamemode made to farm loot. Go PvE for that, or EotM. WvW is supposed to be more akin to your classic deathmatch game combined with an RTS where the reward lies within winning or losing the matchup and the fights. How well Anet has accomplished this is a perfectly valid question, but it’s beside the point.
Really? cause I see spvp being the game mode that you don’t farm loot for, and yet, hello, you can now farm pve loot from it. WvW is the one that actually uses pve gear, so why should you not be able to farm loot from it? From the reasons given I still don’t see why wvw should be held back on rewards in line with the rest of the game.
P.S. All this complaining and on the very same forum page is a Dev actively wanting to join different servers and engage with vet players and experience the fun of WvW. Admittedly not in a work fashion but it will spill over on the ideas table when changes are suggested.
He’s not a “game dev” he’s the wvw sheriff, I don’t expect ideas will flow through him. If he manages to suggest some good things from his play time on servers to the wvw devs, then great but I wouldn’t get my hopes up on that.
You still need gold if you want to fully equip another character, or even change around your mains for a different spec with a new set of armor and weapons and runes and sigils and foods and oils, those are not always cheap especially ascended. I mean how many of you have really spent the last 3 years playing the one class and only one spec?
I don’t need gold to make myself feel like Scrooge Mcduck, I want gold so I can play around with different specs, easy to do in spvp not so much in wvw. WvW rewards are lacking even compared to eotm. Yes at the end of the days it’s about the fights, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be properly rewarded like everyone else playing the game, so get off the high horses already.
It’s a valid request to make the game mode we all love just as rewarding as spending time in pve. I hate ktraining in silverwastes, it’s so kitten boring.
P.S I find it better to open the heavy loot bags and sell the mats, sell the bags if you really want to make a quick buck.
P.P.S You won’t get an answer in the wvw forums, devs don’t respond here.
Didn’t get anything, have a digital deluxe version from launch.
Guess the terribad rng on this account strikes once again.
I always place the mouse cursor just a little above my head before holding down the right button, that way I know the aoe fields will be going down in front of me. Makes it a lot easier since I don’t release the right mouse much in fights and you can lose the cursor so easily because it blends in when you keep moving it on and off players.
The new skills sound interesting, but how long is the well cooldowns 2-3mins?
I already have a tough time choosing any skills over blink decoy and a condi removal.
Traits we don’t know yet.
I don’t want a shield and I would guess a lot of others don’t either, we have torch, focus, sword, and pistol for off hand and I’m sure many already juggle multiples of those depending on the situations. Sounds like the shield would be useful in a zerg fight though that’s for sure. It should have been a 1H.
Use /age if you want to see your play time.
There’s no reason for them to bring GW2 to steam, most developers use steam to quickly get access to an established customer base, that’s why a lot of indie developers are using it now. GW2 already had an established GW1 base to pull from, plus all the game of the year advertising they have by now. Sure they could probably pull in some more customers from stream but is it worth the cost at this point? Anet already sells the game for $10 specials on their own.
Why would they remove it after spending 80 levels with it? That makes no sense. Not to mention you make a bunch of DS traits dead if you specialize?
I can see them adding additional skills to use life force F1-DS the same, F2-dps skill, F3-defense skill, F4-get out of jail free skill, with the F2-4 using the entire bar up.
If you guys are trying to get death shroud and and all the traits with it gone, maybe necromancer is not the class for you? maybe elementalist?
They mentioned during the stream that items that you purchase with skill points will be getting a new replacement currency, it will be in the wallet, they haven’t named it yet. So it’s shouldn’t affect making superior siege.
Skills points are being replaced with hero points which is used to unlock traits and skills as you level.
Siege Masters Guide you currently buy with skill points to make superior siege, is this going to change to a difference currency to purchase such as badges or gold? or replaced with something else?
I’m wondering what’s going to happen with superior siege, since you need skill points to purchase Siege Masters Guide to make them. Changing the cost to badges or money instead?
Don’t know why they’re replacing yet another currency for another.
Would be nice if they just put an arena in eotm like they did for OS, like I dunno that under level middle area that serves no purpose. Players would have no problem running their own league and rules, just need the place for all gvg guilds no matter the tier to meet up. That way gvg guilds wouldn’t feel the need to move to T1-3 either.
I have no problem with groups or guilds running however they want, closed or open raids. Use the appropriate tags if you want, most servers I would guess have it set up anyways – blue for open raid, red for alt open raid or scouts, yellow for closed, purple for alt purposes like showing the pick team.
Only been asked once to not follow a group back in the day on SoR, never been asked that on SoS, then again I know the guilds that have a problem with this and those that don’t so I know who to avoid and who to follow.
If you want to join groups often in WvW it’s best to just join a guild anyways.
Well you would pick the right choice if you went to FA for T2 servers, since you would avoid their own blobs and probably face more solo roamers from YB and SoS, if you want the easiest roaming experience you pick FA so you don’t deal with their 5-10 man roaming groups (good luck with the NA queues). There’s a good amount of thieves on any of the servers, I play a glass mesmer too and I’m already at the breaking point of roaming with it anymore in T2 because of thieves.
But I would probably recommend T3 for roaming, Mags is set for T3 may even sneak into T2 at time point if they push hard enough and drain more ratings off DB. DB just lost guilds again? but their sea carries them. SBI looks like they can hang around T3.
You state you don’t want to go lower than T4 ( I had the same feelings when I was thinking of moving), but you’ll probably find more roamers and less zergs as you go down the tiers (and probably more deadzones depending on your play time).
I was always a fan of the one up one down idea, you get a guaranteed new match up every week, the winners get to test their strength in the tier above them and not randomly dumped two tiers above them.
You get access to more guilds and players and tactics to face, hell it would probably help the gvg scene stick around when you get to face a new opponents every week. T1NA hasn’t had any movement in over a year, I think we can declare the current system as broken and pointless, just dump the glicko rating system already.
I don’t agree to increase the duration in matches, in some cases like T1 and 2 now it would make no difference, in other cases it could potentially drive players away from wvw, when they see how badly their server is losing a matchup with the end of it being another 2 or 3 weeks? I mean look at T3 recently with IOJ and NSP they were stuck constantly facing the rotating T2 servers for months and a lot of their players took time off or transferred off. We don’t need to discourage more players leaving.
They could go shorter matches but that isn’t going to let other timezones experience reset, they would probably do it every 3 days reset at the same 9pm est. Shorter matches could give servers some drive to push more times per week, instead of just weekends, or it may just burn people out faster.
In the end the match lengths really mean nothing if the rewards for winning still suck and have no meaning. I mean they give out chests depending on where you placed, but I can go kill an elite boss and get the same chest and would probably only take 10 mins.
How about giving out the usual chests, giving out the wvw buff to the winners (the spvp one gets thrown out there whenever they have an event which is often now), giving out the season tickets to get the wvw skins(why isn’t there a new season running right now anet?). Some of this might encourage people to stack some servers like BG or JQ for the rewards, but that’s ok, it might even encourage players to destack and go to other servers too when they have to deal with long queue times.
Anyways that was longer than I wanted lol.
One up One down system needs to be implemented!
You can turn it off mostly.
Turn off post processing in graphics options.
Turn down dialog volume in sounds options.
Go to graphics option and turn postprocessing off.
Turn off dialog volume if you need to.
Turn on a transformation potion if you want to get out of the broken animation I guess.
This is seriously the dumbest aprils fool joke I’ve seen in a game, please don’t do something like this again unless it comes with an off switch.
(edited by Xenesis.6389)
I’m in a bleh state at the moment with the game, haven’t been logging on much lately. I mostly wvw, current server is in a bleh spot, got tired of roaming because of thieves and other cheap condi builds, zerging isn’t much fun when the other servers can bring fat numbers anytime anywhere.
Pve? silverwastes can only stand to do for one full event rotation of the map when I get really bored. I don’t care about skins, crafting legendaries, collections. Professions? my two favorites are mesmer and necro, can’t find a comfortable spec for them right now. Other ones I don’t want to throw gold into changing runes and sigil yet again to try new builds. Spvp is ok for a few games then it’s meh again.
Hoping the Revenant is interesting enough to play for some time.
FA bought some guilds, people bandwagon to the top T2 server. Good news though FA has won the arms race and will no longer be dumped into T3.
Only way you’re going to actually split up zergs is to make them capture and hold multiple meaningful objectives at the same time to access bigger things, and I don’t mean holding 3 ruins to get bloodlust.
While towers look like they will have a bigger purpose in accessing shortcuts for the map, they need to tie them to keeps, such as capture and hold these 3 defending towers at the same time to open the first door to the keep, then take the keep with whatever you have to go kill the second door. With the new lord mechanics you can make them hard enough that you require 15 people to capture the towers in a decent time. They already do this in silverwastes to access the last boss area with three lanes.
Want to take the zerg to capture the 3 towers before the keep sure go ahead, but if you don’t keep people on them to defend the door will close on you. You can use the environment to funnel people all you want like eotm tried, but zergs will learn to get around anyways.
Other than that looks like way too many pve elements are going into the new map, so much so people will probably not even bother after a time and just queue up ebg even more.
GvG is for a very small minority. Waste of development resources.
No, waste of development resource is taking a year to redeveloping the level system that sucks even worse than before.
Make one pvp zone with a flat open area arena with mega server access and that is all you would need to make wvw guilds happy. It’s not hard, it doesn’t have to be fancy, it doesn’t need any gimmicks, it doesn’t need to be connected to wvw or eotm or spvp, it also doesn’t need 2 weeks of blogs explaining it. It’s simple, give the players a simple place to gvg and let them do the rest, let them keep their own scores and records and tournaments.
Use the middle area under the center of eotm, hardly anyone goes there, plus you get to add knocking people off the edge as a hazard to gvg fights, positioning would be so much more meaningful especially with pulls knockbacks fears after the stabo changes coming. XD
You also get access to multiple tiers so not to worry about waiting on a certain matchups (which frankly is broken now) to fight certain guilds.
Or wait on Anet to do nothing and let gvg die.
See I disagree with the “time zone” slots on scoring, due to the variations in time zones, along with the imbalances of many servers during specific times of day. Right now a server who ha a larger OCX/SEA can push and gain high ppt, while that same server may lack NA compared to their opponent which can then make up the PPT lost form OCX/SEA. Same with EU and so on. Breaking it into “time zone” scoring, allows for less chances for the non server prime timezones to gain lead (as they do now) followed by not having the lead caught up by the server’s prime time for wvw’ers.
True OCX might put your server ahead by 3k points, however when your NA logs in they could also make up the points. (As it is currently.)
Though if you change to the specific time zones, you will run into people (lets use NA as an example) who are At work, or off work, and the “slot time” would be a bit off, due to having a hour differences between east and west. Where as now, people do not have to play from work, or rush home to log in by xxx time, they would have a set time limit by the proposed change. (Say 4pm-12am)
The time zone “slotting” really doesn’t work, due to how many time zones there are in the world, and how many time zones would cover each one of the proposed “slotted” times. Granted it would work for the weekend more so, however that is 2 days of 7 in a match.
I don’t know if you’ve fully thought it through on the effects it would have on scoring.
If a server has NA as their strongest zone they will most likely gain 3 points in that slot every night(using the 3-2-1 not the 5-3-1 scoring), while the other servers who may have ocx or sea as their strongest points will make up that 3 points to counter it within that 24hr period. With this system no server gets to absolutely run away with the score because of the smaller numbers you use for the weekly total scoring.
T2 is a good example of this, let’s say FA, SOS and DB.
FA would most likely win during NA time so FA-3 SOS-2 DB-1 (SoS supposedly has more na than db but it could switch easily).
SOS could probably win in ocx time so SOS-5 FA-5 DB-2 (but again a toss up there).
DB who have a strong sea presence could make up the difference here so FA-7 SOS-6 DB-5. (SoS will probably almost always lose this time because of weak EU but their sea could make it interesting).
Unlike the real scoring right now you can end up with FA walking out with a 10-20k lead in 24hrs and the match is done for the week. 10-20k is not that easy to make up let alone 80-100k by the end of the week. Unless servers play overtime and push for it, but that rarely happens anymore because it’s not worth busting your kitten for points that don’t matter.
With the new system a double team would also matter much more, the 2nd and 3rd place servers could actually team up and hit the 1st server harder in certain time zones to deny them points and allow themselves to easily catch up, like it was intended for a three way matchup. Imagine if DB and SOS focused on FA during NA prime, the time zone that’s the hardest but they’re sure to win every night because they can queue 4 maps. Holding the 1 or 2 points from them then you give yourself a huge chance to tie or even take the lead in points in the other zones.
The time zone example given is fine 8am-4pm, 4pm-12am, 12am-8am est, (could consider 6am-12pm, 12pm-6pm, 6pm-12am, 12am-6am as well). But it actually over laps into other prime time zones such as sea into eu, na east to west, pst into ocx, there are many timezones in between that would be even more important to scoring in a smaller bracket than the overall lump total.
You can also hide the points gathering for the time zones as a way to not pressure people to get last minute points, but still keep players competitive by showing the ppt. I know there are many time zones around the world and we don’t exactly know how many people are in each of them, but the system would help minimize the effects okittenward coverage times and how drastic of an affect they have in running up the score. Can you also imagine if this happened to a matchup that had three servers near the same populations and coverage, it could keep the matchup competitive the entire week.
This discussion is strictly for NA servers, and using eastern time zone for the zone section examples since that is the biggest prime time for most NA servers.
I suggested something similar to this. Probably in one of the many threads about server mergers, etc.
Keep the week long matchup. Divide each day into 3 eight hour scoring periods. For example, 8am-4pm / 4pm – 12am / 12am – 8am. Award points after each of these scoring periods. The highest PPT gets 5 points, the mid gets 3 points, and the lowest gets 1 point. This allows different time periods to essentially compete with each other. A server that is super strong during off-peak times would be on equal footing with a server that is strong during on-peak times.
Heck, let us do it for a week or two as an experiment to see how it works out.
I’ve seen this suggested a few times and it makes a lot of sense to me. I fully agree with breaking down the scoring to sections per day to help control the run away scoring due to coverage. I would even take it as far as hiding the score until the end of the time period and just announce who came in 1st-3rd. To keep it even closer I would use 3pts for 1st to 1pt for 3rd, and for the love of god put ppk back into the game.
There’s a lot of things they can try to do, what’s frustrating is they haven’t tried anything to change scoring for 2.5 years except the brief period of ppk recently.
Bummer, wish him the best for the future.
I’d guess all the work for the CDI’s will get swept under the rug like everything else now.
I’m ok with the shield if they let us use it like Captain America!
On a serious note, we did not need another off hand weapon, seriously, like really, seriously. Focus, torch, sword, pistol, we do not need a 5th off hand, with only two main hands to choose from. We could use a long range weapon for power builds like pistol, and a short range for condition builds like dagger.
Shield skills in Gw2 have always typically been meh to me, so not really looking forward to getting it on the mesmer, but we’ll have to wait and see what the skills are I guess.
The new level experience sucks, nothing can be done about that unless you have scrolls to skip levels. As for level 80 stuff, there’s a few areas to dabble in, but it’s up to you on if you like any of them to do them often.
Areas you can rerun every day:
New living story zones, silver wastes can be rewarding doing events, killing the bosses on the way to making the new glow armor, killing legendary bosses for new and probably the best titles in the game, working on events to the final boss area, followed by doing the chest train for 20 mins. Only grindy part might be the new armor, which I personally don’t care about the rest you can do at your own pace.
Dungeons, can be sped run for gold, mostly the same since launch. Fractals can be rewarding once you get to level 11 personal reward level for daily chests which can drop ascended stuff. More fun with friends.
World bosses, can be run daily, they’re on 15 min timers apart, they reward a lot of rares which can be turned into ectos. The bigger bosses such as tequatl and 3 wurms take more raid co-ordination and planning.
SPvP, is more rewarding than it use to be, you can run multiple tracks for different rewards such as dungeon armor and weapons, you also get to pick up mats and level tomes so you’re not totally out of the rest of the game. As with any pvp it’s much more fun with friends.
WvW/Eotm, my favorite part of the game. Eotm is a full blown karma/leveling train. For wvw having fun will depend on what you like to do. You can be different roles here, you can be a scout which involves reporting enemy movement, contested areas, recapping camps, tapping siege and hunting down roamers. You can be a roamer, going into enemy lands solo and becoming a problem for the enemy taking their camps killing their scouts. Havoc group taking towers and camps, maybe stealing a keep or two. Zerg fighting with 25+ people, busting down other zergs, taking anything in your way. Guild zerg busting or gvging other guilds in the open. Recommended to join the server community teamspeak for better co-ordination. Find a wvw guild to join, makes the experience in wvw 100% better. Speaking of experience you can earn wvw experience to level up masteries as well as earn rank up chests which have a chance at dropping ascended too(although very low).
Crafting to make ascended and legendaries, only mentioning these because of how long they take to make, these are grindy either with material or gold collecting, but they give you something to do for a long period of time.
Collections and achievement hunting are also long term goals to keep yourself busy.
My suggestion is to find the profession you want to play, the area you would like to do often, and find a guild for that similar area and see how it goes.

Thanks for the video Dulfy.
I see in the end the fractal type air blowing traps over the bridge, not sure I’ll like having those on a wvw map. Hard for me to get excited, the desert theme just seems dull to me now, already had enough of that in the living story maps in the last year.
Oh well another wvw map at least, hopefully it’s fun and not annoying.
I’ll tell you what I DO missclick, those anger inducing itty bitty switch skill buttons.
I really wish they would put it as left mouse to activate the skill, right mouse to bring up the menu to select skills, instead of that dinky little pull down bar on top.
Other than that yes I do mis-click every once in a while too, especially the 4, 5 buttons. My heal dodge f1-4 keys are on my mouse so everything else is good.
If you have a trade skill at 400 you can make one easily and they have a unique look to the trade as well, and you can pick the stat combination like berserker soldier etc.
How many people have done the same as him and succeeded/failed? People always focus on the successes/failures for specific individuals rather than collectively across the entire player base.
All accounts are treated the same. What I mean by this is that there is no account specific variable that influences your outcome.
There would be no point to it, it’s just one of those things that make you go hmmm on a daily basis. Especially when you walk into a fractal with a friend and she pulls out 5 exotics and an ascended from drops and you walk out with rares even though same personal level and 30% more mf, that’s happens to her often and for me it doesn’t at all.
Just one of those things that make you think something is up with the rng and magic find in the game. I heard you like rng so we at arenanet have put rng on your rng under your rng in your rng for your rng.
Had a friend the other day throw in a stack of 250 hammers and pulled a precursor out of it, he sold it and went to try again with pistols for the hell of it a couple hours later. Another stack of 250 pistols and he pulled out the precursor, sold that and decided to try staves, ended up with a lot of exotics.
While everyone will say RNG!, the rng in this game always seemed messed up in some way. I wouldn’t be surprised if they had an account reward level attached to the accounts much like fractals and some accounts were marked up a lot more than others.
…another version of chill(slow) is coming, and who knows what else in the expansion.
Just want to clarify this, chill only affects movement and skill cooldown, while slow only affects cast animation times, so they have zero in common
Yes one slows down your cooldown time, the other slows down your casting time. They’re both slowing down your use of skills.
I can’t wait to get bombed with immobilize, chill, and slow at the same time, should be a glorious keyboard out the window moment.
The new boon temporarily stops the condition, but you will still need to get rid of it.
“For example, if a character is running in fear with the fear condition, they’ll stop running in fear when resistance is placed on them. When resistance ends, they’ll resume running in fear. "
I’m assuming the new boon stops the condition completely, it’s effect and timer, once the boon wears off the condition resumes at the same stack and timer it stopped at.
All the new boon will do is delay the conditions long enough so that you can get a cleanse off. Fine for a zerg, roaming is a different matter. When you get condition bombed with 8-10 conditions and most classes have the ability to clear 1-3 at a time once every 20-45 seconds you are going to run into problems.
With it being a stackable boon I wouldn’t expect it to last more than 5 sec maxed out.
I’m just saying if they going to keep adding in conditions for the future they might want to start giving proper counters to them. Most of the condition cleanses were implemented at a time to balance to a certain amount of conditions in the game, torment had been added, another version of chill(slow) is coming, and who knows what else in the expansion.
sigh Did they really need to add more conditions to the game, at this rate they will have to add resistances and diminishing returns to counter conditions because it sounds like it will be getting out of hand, limited cleanses on long durations are not going to cut it anymore. The game is becoming too condition based gameplay for my taste.
Other than that, Revenants sound like they will be awesome, in fact so much so that it will definitely change the gwen meta up, cough gren cough.
Season 1 was the start of the downfall for SoR, although there were things going on weeks or months before that. The one problem SoR had was they did not manage their pugs properly, in some cases there was a lack of respect, there were elitist on the server too which affected the server pugs and TS as well, such as inappropriate bannings.
A couple weeks before season 1, guilds and commanders took the week off citing “training week”, (didn’t even want to train their pugs?) barely anyone tagged up and it affected their pugs. In week 1(or 2 don’t remember now) of the season SoR had managed like a 18k or so lead coming out of the weekend, in two days they lost that lead and most guilds took the rest of week off, which of course had a massive hit on morale for the rest of the server.
Around that time the Iron leader had become sick irl, as well as BG had acquired a guild to counter Iron, it completely swung the tables around for the matchups thereafter. In the week after the pugs disappeared because the guilds and commanders had done so in the week before.
After season 1 things were still rocky, SoR still had the smallest population of T1. They were not getting new blood, maybe they chased a lot of new people from wvw because of attitudes, while a lot of other servers gained new players from pve with the season. Three months later guilds were tired of ppting and the drama? and decided to move, with a lot of them moving to TC to help bring them up into Tier 1. [TW] was one of the last guilds to move, they went to SoS instead for a couple months before going to Wildstar for a few months, they came back and moved to BG since SoS had it’s share of drama that affected one of their former commanders.
SoR started dropping down the tiers but not fast enough as they got stuck in a bad spot for season 2, and missed out on free transfers which could have helped them recover (like 1 server rank off), instead HoD received the bandwagon.
Do players know that a thief can solo a tower lords room because of stealth?
Ele https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1u3J4lJKhkw
Engineer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3mbgSEDCP4
Ranger https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPy5zjrFStU
Guardian https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdv1nV1UISM
But I have to admit that I don’t know whether those builds still work.
I know other classes can do it, but what are the chances those classes are alive to retake a tower after you cap it? next to none since you’ll probably kill them before you leave, thief is a different issue since making out with a wall gets them in stealth.
Another note on immobilization, getting hit with one would be fine, but two or three from a group?. This is what turns it into a ridiculous condition because now a group is able to lock you down to up to 8s if they wanted to, not that they would need that long to bomb on you to death.
The thing that sucks about immobilize is it locks you out of your primary defense mechanism in dodging, with chill and cripple you still have access to it I have no problems with those conditions. Which was fine before it’s stacking change in order to strategically lock a player out of a dodge at the right time, now players just spam it as soon as they get in range, a warrior or engineer smacking one player with it is enough for them to absolutely kitten a player into a damage bomb in little to no time after.
Why is fear under a control condition and immobilize is not?
P.S don’t forget the immobilize bug of getting immobilized in mid air and basically locked out of most skills.

I like most of what you said can I subscribe to your newsletter? My opinions on what’s been said…
1. Conditions. Personally I don’t like conditions, I run mostly power builds, they are harder to build for maximum damage, more challenging to use and don’t seem as “cheap”. Conditions are fine in bigger groups situations because there’s enough condition cleanses going on to keep them in check.
Unfortunately in most roaming situations they become too strong, some cases when you can restack conditions faster than they can be cleared it becomes overpowered (engineers). Certain classes need help on condition cleanses to keep up, like mesmer arcane thievery is one of those skills that misfires more often than not, I can no longer reliably use it. Mantra? too clunky, null field? need to wait on pulses (what I’m using right now plus torch trait).
2. Immobilize. Conditions on a whole are still somewhat manageable, but when immobilize kicks in, it takes it into the level of ridiculous. There are a lot of builds now working to maximize immobilization in order to bomb a target especially with conditions.
In my opinion immobilize should be placed in the same category of control effects such as daze, fear, knockdown, stun etc. all of which can be cured with stability or stun breakers, except immobilization. Heck even fear is a condition which can be cured with stability or stun breakers, why is immobilize excluded from this list?
3. Stealth. Stealth implementation in this game is broken, there is no other way to put it. Worse yet an entire class was built fully around it’s usage which was a terrible mistake, a mistake which is now hard for them to make changes to because of this. Stealth will never be fixed as it will be seen as a big nerf to thieves, but the game would be better off and a lot more fun without stealth.

Thieves are still allowed to stealth off targetable walls. Why should this class be able to stealth, boon itself up like a guardian, gain excellent regen, and still hit like a truck or whittle you down with bleeds while also having the best gap closer/making skills. Do players know that a thief can solo a tower lords room because of stealth?
Are they really squishy when they’re carrying around toughness/vitality/condition damage stats? There are thieves out there who take advantage of this class and are unkillable in roaming situations, they can reset fights unlimited times, they cannot be killed unless there’s 10 players hunting them down and even then they can lead them on a merry chase. I’ve been in solo fights with thieves that lasted 10mins in cat and mouse chasing, I’ve killed them they’ve killed me, but it’s to the point of why bother wasting my time on them anymore, it’s the greatest annoyance in the game.
/rant off
4. Siege disablers. At 5gold and 150badges? just ask to get it removed as no one will buy it at that price. Even at it’s current price a lot of players don’t carry them.
5. Rangers. Only real problem I have with rangers is it’s hard to break from their channel skill even with a dodge or stealth (you don’t see me why are you still hitting me?), evade type skills like dodge should break the channeling. I think rangers could have been given a better boost with better aoes than buffing the bow /shrug. If you ever see 2+ of these longbow rangers together, run don’t even try just run.
6. Commander tag. Join a guild in order to see tags? Most guilds don’t raid every day, and at most they may raid for 2-3 hours at a time, what’s a player to do in between that time when your guild is not raiding? join yet another guilds to get in on their raid? A lot of guilds tend to have 100% rep as well which hampers this.
The better option is to have guild only tags, and we have confirmation they are aware that we want this (Colin was anyways Mike was not…), thanks to a player interview at pax about wvw.
BEAR didn’t get bought.
I dunno I remember the guild leader of bear bragging the guild had at least 20k gold banked while two server TC and BG were fighting to buy them.
As for T1, if those servers are bored maybe they need to stop match fixing and go all out every week, they’ve put themselves in a position that no T2 servers can reach them. Certain guilds have already left them because of that kitten that’s been going on.
For SoS, the main ocx left after season 3, Bear TS and whatever pugs followed them, we just lost another guild serving between ocx/sea time. EU was always the weakest zone, the strongest timezone now is NA and even then it can’t keep up with T2 anymore. The amount of former SoS guilds/players I see on YB FA DB now is quite sad, followed the gold or the bandwagon, whichever whatever.
Is this for real a bug? I know some specs were stacking it high, I got hit yesterday four times with immobilized for 10sec while I got condition bombed with little time to cleanse, which doesn’t matter as it’s spammed back onto you anyways, this was mostly from engineers. Conditions in this game are getting to game breaking levels, too bad anet pays little attention to balance while trying to promote esports lol.
Yeah sorry but I don’t agree, garrisons is one the best features they’ve made for the game, it’s one of the things I enjoyed building while leveling. The bad part about it is every character you level from 90-100 needs to do it, it becomes a pain in the kitten , it also broke a few trade professions.
Only reason I’m not playing still is because I’m not going to pay them while they stagger the release of content I’m interested in, lfr stuff which they’ve also turned into a hit 1 fall asleep mode. SS vs TM also turned out to be 40v40 instead of 100v100 as originally planned, so it’s back to wvw here.
Would be nice if the home instance in gw2 was made interesting, like get your own minions to send on quests, all we got now is going back to farm useless nodes.
Guess which way they go to “fix” this. GG you got engineers nerfed XD But seriously took them a while to plug the old garrison exploit, probably take them a while to do all the locations you’ve mentioned. Hills, Ogrewatch, Overlook, Wildcreek, Lowlands, Valley and Garrison.
It will be nerfed somehow since engineers are capable of soloing lords room, although seeing as Anet doesn’t read the wvw forums we have time lol.
Anyways, it’s not intended for players to bypass walls or gates when they’re not open, unless of course through your own portal or a mesmer one. Then again the game has “jumping puzzles” so yeah… XD
Don’t.. assume..
Don’t.. hope..
Don’t.. hype..
Don’t.. dream..
Just pretend this thread doesn’t exist until something significant is announced.
You’ll be much happier for it!
They don’t actually do anything differently, one is first year birthday reward, the other is second year birthday reward. Don’t know why they made them the same thing yet separate stacks.
Buy more character slots and level more characters is what they want you to do with them.
It’s not smart to try to poach from WoW or other MMOs. Why? They can only play one game, and they’re not going to switch to a game they have to build up from zero when they’re established in the other, maybe having been established for a long time . . .
Players just have a lot of inertia, so to speak. They’re perfectly fine in motion on the one game, why switch to another where they need to put a whole lot of time and effort into “spinning up to speed”? ( . . . even if, with GW2, it’s not about being the best but just being halfway competent enough to get by.)
At least, that’s why I wound up dropping FF14 after a long time staring at how much work I’d need to continue doing daily just to crawl a little slower up progression every level.
Your last sentence explains the exact reasoning for trying to go after those players. You don’t poach the players who are still into wow, you go after the ones who are tiring of it. The one thing GW2 has over WoW is that it’s sub free and you can play it on your own time, with or in between games. Games like WoW tend to bleed players after the first 3 months or so of an expansion because they start getting to the point of only doing the dailies routine, do a raid once a week thing, a lot of players tend to take off until the end of the expansion when more content is available to them right away.

Why do players lump the Traits revamp in with the NPE? So odd.
I believe they were done at the same time for the chinese release? but it was staggered for na. Given the time between the revamps (5 months) I really don’t think they were developed separately but were intended to be together as a full revamp from level 1-80.
