I chose ash.
Blood seem too much like meatheads.
You could possibly fit into iron.
But ash made the most sense imo. Especially seeing as there is an elementalist line that has traditionally been about assassination and single target damage (air) which falls into place in ash.

If you dont want to pick ash, I would suggest Iron.

So uh, second time the borderlands garrison keep lord has gone immortal in our bracket.

Is there something specific that causes this to happen? Because its obnoxious. And does anyone know a fix? (we’ve tried resetting him, even just leaving the keep entirely and then re-sieging it, but that doesnt seem to work)

Im afraid we’ll need more information.
When does your guild routinely play?
I know right now on fort aspenwood there’s a sweet spot at around 3pm EST where the queues are short to non-existant and there are actually enemies prowling about (its when they start to retake their things)

But after about 5pm my guildies have reported 1-2hour queues.
Obviously the night time has no queues, but also a real dearth of enemies to face. Rall had an outmanned buff in their own borderlands last night :\

Also no one really knows what will be happening next week. The brackets change today (heh, 3 minutes past minute at time of this post) so no one knows if there will be “fair” matchups this time.

my advice:
wait it out, see how the next bracket goes. Then if you are unsatisfied, look to finding a new server again, but make sure to post your general playtimes, so people can assist you more easily.

Did this with 2 guidies and 2 randoms

2 ele, guardian, ranger and something else that I dont remember (I think it was engineer?)

first impression? Holy god gunners are just… young felines…
No seriously, you gave them UNLOAD? that was reserved for a boss mechanic in a previous dungeon, and these guys are packing it and there’s 2 of them? Christ.

Second impression. Oh god mega blasters are the funnest trash we’ve faced. However go kitten yourself if you’re melee because there is jack all you can do vs them

I dont think we had any trouble with the bosses. The first one was long and completely forgettable.

Protecting zojja was done first try with no deaths. Its important to note that the first golems that attack arent silver ringed, so me and the other ele basically took a dump all over them. Then we just ran around a lot, at one point zojja started coming under attack, and we just basically started to spam our heals on her. I think she finished with about 25% hp left.

Rest of the dungeon is meh, at one point someone dc’ed and we still went forward, getting all the way past the room where the dragon monsters are.

The kudu fight was… stupid.
The powersuit likes to stun you even when you’re not in his fields, and 1 shot you if he catches you. But he waskitten easy to dodge. WAY TOO MUCH HP
Kudu was just bullkitten. The first time he kill shot me, he then did it again 2 seconds later to put me from down to dead. I told my team to lookout (over skype) and my friend goes “wait what?” and then he’s downed and dead too. There’s no windup that we saw at all, so it was literally just burst him down ASAP before he could kill people before whoever was dead got back.

The final boss was… I dunno, I guess for me it seemed easy as I never died or went down. Getting trapped in a crystal meant we’d rescue you in about 4 seconds. They really did not have much hp. The boss on the other hand had way too much. tbh though, still not hard, at least if you’re good at dodging. Me and my ele friend were having a casual conversation while fighting the boss and dodging everything, only to realize that everyone else was dying to his AOE’s somehow.

I give this story mode a 6/10
suggestions to anet:
1. change gunners to be less stupid
2. lower the hp of the bosses, as it stands its just tedious
3. give kudu some telegraph for his killshot
4. add some new mechanics to the first few boss fights. They were really just… unforgettable
5. The final final final boss dude was pretty much perfect besides his tons of hp. Plenty of variety to his attacks, that changed as you did damage to him, and everything was dodgeable with skill besides maybe the crystal, which I dodged with sheer luck. So basically, if you plan on changing content, try and make it reflect this guy!

Suggestion to players
1. accept that gunners will probably kill you
2. Make sure you have burst damage and heals for the zojja part
3. get good at dodging? I’m usually not one to say this, but, maybe go try playing an ele to 80. It’s a sure fire way to get better at dodging (because you will need to be doing it constantly)

If a team outnumbers you enough you could triple the NPC’s and it still wouldnt help.
Also each NPC kill gives a point. So you’d be doing nothing but giving the winning team more chance to get more points…

Vitality > toughness >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> healing power (I think someone proved with the math that healing power is literally worse than every other stat possible)

toughness just seems… pretty bad. I had 300 bonus toughness at one point. I switched it to 150 toughness and 150 vitality and my survivability skyrocketed. This is mostly because enemies just hit ridiculously hard regardless of your defense. And having 3000 extra hp is better than 150 defense.

What and where is "the chest in the end"? (newbie question)

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Zenyatoo.4059

Zenyatoo.4059

end chests may refer to a few things

1. on maps, certain large events spawn a rather massive chest somewhere nearby. Things such as the fire elemental, or “world bosses” will do this
2. Dungeons typically have 3 chests. Some dungeons have the final chest after killing the final boss making it “the end chest”
3. When you finish a map or daily/monthly a chest appears near the lower right of your screen, and you click it to receive the rewards. This could also be considered an “end chest” as its the chest at the end of finishing a zone.
4. Most jump puzzles have large splendid chests at the end of them.

If you’re only 15 I wouldnt have expected to see them much unless youve been participating in world boss fights, or doing jump puzzles

and how many hours at level 80 must you “grind” for that lvl 80 exotic gear that is such a big step in stats?

well that depends on how much money youve got at 80, and how fast you can scrounge up the 40g itll take you.

Keep in mind dungeon running is now no longer possible for money. Events cap out. And the anti farm code is a jerk.

Full exotic gear might honestly take a while longer than people think. Now, whether you consider this time as “grind” is up to you, as tbh you can usually get about a gold per zone completion, so if you’re like me, and you wanted to experience all the map content at least once, you’ll probably have the money without needing to “grind” from your perspective.

Crystal Desert will be in tier 2 getting our butts kicked next week
At least the first day or 2 if we playing the way we currently are.

I feel like aspenwood ping pongs so much. We’ve beaten tarnished coast everytime we fought. I think we lost to maguuma once and beat them once? we’re tied with dragonbrand on wins, but their win was 1000 whereas ours was 90,000, and beaten gates of madness both times we faced them.

But we’re stuck in 12th because it likes to immediately send us against something like desert, janthir, sea of sorrows, and blackgate, who crush us and send us plummeting down in the rankings again.

Watch, next week we’ll probably have to face blackgate or something, who will stomp us down to facing darkhaven who’ll get crushed, and so on and so on.

exotic weapon
3g per (so 6-12g depending on your weapon set up)
exotic armor
also 3g per so 18g
exotic jewellery
3g per seems to be a standard right now actually. 12g overall for these

I think an ammy is over 3g but the post is down and I cant check.
Same for the backbraces,

At the very least we’re talking about say 40g for an exotic set. at 80. Less if you can make it yourself, or have guildies who can, but to be honest the difference is only in how many of the mats you already own. compared to how many you’ll need to buy.

As for whether youd consider getting this 40g to be a grind is up to you. But there are certainly some players who would consider reaching this amount to be quite grindy o.o

Actually the silliest thing to me is when they set up in a spot thats just not destroyable.
Because then I just go back to taking all of their bases outside the jump puzzle.
The only thing they have accomplished is denying me 2 additional siege (which I already have tons of) while denying their team 3+ players that they sorely need.

Too bad that chest does not give only you 2 blueprints. Now lets say server 1 control all four jumping puzzle for one one week without letting even one other opponent from other server from reaching that goal. And during that time, 1000 of their own players has done the puzzle all 7 seven days during that week. That is 56k siege weaponry free for them during that week. Do you understand now even though this is extreme.

The difference is that the amount of their players who would get through the jump puzzle if they werent camping it is probably pretty similar to what it would be if they werent. So their overall amounts of siege is still pretty constant. Not to mention, the more people who go do the jump puzzle, the less people they have out on the map. Which makes a hell of a lot of difference during the times I play (when I play, neither team is fielding more than about 30-40 people at any one time. Those 3-5 people camping can make a ton of difference if they were actually somewhere useful)

As for krytan zones. There are a few that people miss quite often

1. demongrub pits. It’s a jump puzzle in queensdale, with its own white name location
2. Feral dens. Skritt location to the north west of harathi
3. Ourobore caves, mid east of harathi
4. hidden ourobore. Above the Ourobore caves, but you must leave them, then head north through a centaur camp, then east again
5. Provernic crypt. Its north in gendarran fields. You may need to actually enter the crypt proper to get it.
6. Icegate gorge (South east of map) I know I had to walk into a specific spot near the ice elementals to get this one to ping.
7. Bitterfrost peaks (North east of map) there are locations nearby, but this can be missed pretty easily.
8. beggars burrow and eastern divinity dam. Go to the top of queensdale and head east
9. windloss delves. In the middle of the map (queensdale), south east from the garrison.
10. Pinion trail. Far west of queensdale.
11. Kessex is actually pretty good, if youve 100%’d it you probably have it all. Besides maybe alakess ledge, which is far south middle.
12. Bloodtide is also pretty good. But Dredgehat isle, near the south west of the map (its a giant island with nothing on it)
13. Mistarion beach the beach to the north west of the whisperwill bogs

Divinity’s reach has 3 or so that might trip people up
1. the upper city, middle of the map
2. the palace, middle of the map
3. There’s some white named place on the Dwayna road. I believe it’s on the top most level, near the middle of the map. It’s not shown on the wiki map, but I have it on mine.

The elemental is probably the best.
My only issue with it is that it has a 120 second cd. But when it dies the CD resets. So if yours actually lives the full duration, then the CD is 180, but if it dies in 5 seconds the CD is only 125.
Not sure if that was intended, or a bug, but its a little annoying to see my elite halfway cooled down, only to suddenly go “LOLNOPE, BACK TO 120”

5 fire fields, on 3 weapon types, all of which last for a pretty long time. I can give my entire team 9 stacks of might, fury, and protection within ~5 seconds of the fight starting. That’s a fairly large amount of extra damage (say we’re in an SE run so we’re 65, that’s 29 power per stack, or 261 additional power, not exactly chump change)

I have gotten supply before.

Basically you kill the dolyak, then there is a small chance for it to drop a rare (yellow) supply package. This package can drop even when you have full supply. And looting it will give you 5 supply (up to your current maximum hold rate, be it 10 or 5)

so in theory yes, you can get supply for killing dolyaks. I wouldnt count on it though.

Shot in the dark: You’ve never developed and/or bugfixed have you? Whether in terms of hardware, software, etc?

It is so much more difficult than people who have never attempted it realize. I wish all the people saying “LOL BUGGED CONTENT GG AWFUL DEV TEAM ROFLROFLROFL” (not you, just a generalization about stupid people) would go create something with thousands of different pieces of content (in terms of this game, DE’s, hearts, skill points) release it to a couple of million people, and see how much of it wasn’t actually broken.

Things that get released to the public, even with a plethora of alpha and beta testing, content testing, etc. are going to be riddled with bugs. That’s how it goes. Some developers take months and months (sometimes more like years) to fix the bugs. ANet is actively fixing them quite quickly in comparison.

I have actually done bug testing before. I used to gm/dev on a small private server for an MMO. We had weekly patches, and I would routinely fix issues. Now, I assume the guild wars files are probably a little more complex than ours were. But for our files the exploitable issue im talking about would take me literally 2 minutes to confirm and 5 to fix. Obviously I wouldnt expect it to be that easy, as im sure their files are more complex. But it honestly should not be more than a half hour job to fix what is a pretty major issue with what is currently “the endgame” for lack of a better word.

As for the PoI, im not sure why everyone has such problems with it. In order to actually reach it you have to go through a waypoint that is also underground, with a direct route to it. Unless… does the waypoint unlock when you’re above the surface? Because that needs to be changed if it does. I cant imagine people not exploring the full extent of the tomb if they have to get that waypoint by entering it.

Just the simple fact that you somehow think they’re not working on fixing bugs is mind-boggling to me.

There was a build today. AS far as they listed the only bug they fixed was dialogue issues.

Right now there’s an armor set, a dungeon armor set, that can be exploited easily. No im not going to name it. But me and my guild sent in the bug reports weeks ago about it and it still hasnt been fixed at all.

Im aware that you cant fix all bugs, but going from what I know this would literally be changing 7 values to what they should be and the exploit is gone. I cant imagine that taking longer than 10 minutes to confirm and then maybe 30 to fix, if that.

So you think we are jerks because some people on the server try and kill people in massive PvP? I’ve also had the experience of running from like 8 FA folks and them hunting me down (for like a 15 minute chase) and mercilessly slaughtering me. I thought it was all in good fun, not some plot to make my life miserable.

I think you would find plenty of friendly Rallites are just having fun. Please don’t generalize our whole server.

Its not that some people try and kill people during the pvp. It’s that literally every rall player does it to an extent that’s well beyond anything ive seen in any other team with the exception of perhaps dragonbrand. And even then I met a few of them who werent like that.

I find it interesting that lots of people have told me to stop generalizing. But the fact is, during my playtime I probably meet just about every rall player who is online in WvWvW at the time (I see about 30 of them per borderlands and EBG, and I hit up all 3 during my playtime) if im generalizing anything, it’s because I do get to see the entire rall lineup at my specific playtime, and they all act the exact same way.

Like ive said, perhaps day is different. But at night literally every rall (and I do mean literally. Like I do keep saying I have yet to meet a single rall person who deviates from this) acts in the manners ive described.

Im fully aware that it’s not some Rall plot to ruin my life, and I know that the rall players are most likely having fun. I was just curious if there was some overarching reason that all the rall players I meet seem to act the way they do (which is vastly different than all the servers ive faced with the exception of dragonbrand) or if it was just random coincidence.

I’m also kind of confused why people believe im badmouthing the rall server. Last I checked if your enemies in war think you are jerks then you’re probably doing something right… <.<

Reasons Not To Transfer

@ dethwar (because the quoting doesnt feel like working for some reason?)
“Just trying to understand a bit better why people would complain about “night capping” but the servers that actually have good “night capping” crews are not been flooded with NA guilds looking to stay competitive and build a community.”

My point is on fort aspenwood we have queue during the day time. So no guild will receive a benefit from transferring here. They will still have to wait during the day to get in and play.

Which was mostly aimed at this line
“What’s more perplexing is that these two servers have 0 queues during NA prime and need the help”

I was just pointing out that not every server with an active night crew has 0 queues during NA prime time. So the benefit for guilds switching can be much lower than you would suspect.

GW2 is Fun-Centric, not Reward-Centric

“IMO, Anet is promoting the concept that everything you do in GW2 should be because you enjoy doing that thing, not because you’re trying to get rewards for doing that thing. "

But if you enjoy farming, grinding dungeons, dungeons in general, or any of the things they’ve nerfed recently then you are kitten out of luck.

The idea of playing for funs sake makes perfect sense, right up until the point where they started making it impossible to do things that for many players were fun!

Adapt. Trust me…there are plenty of ways to make money in this game without spending a dime in the cash shop OR exploiting. No, I will not elaborate.

Im not after money. Im just really losing all sight of doing anything interesting.
100% world completion done
4 crafting professions 400. And the others are just gold sinks using materials I dont feel like grinding out 300 more of…
Legendaries take an absurd amount of grind which is, oh hey, capped constantly so I couldnt actually work towards them if I wanted to.
Dungeons at their peak are fun the first time, decent the second, reasonable the third, and boring by the 4rth. And most dungeons are not at their peak.

WvWvW for me right now is either waiting 3 hours for a queue during the day, or playing at night like I usually do, and just stomping the enemy teams :/

And im not really a big Spvp fan.

Frankly speaking, there’s not actually anything fun for me to do right now. The only goals I could potentially have are being nerfed one by one (anti farm codes, lessened dungeon rewards, making dungeons more tedious and unfun [and no I dont mean magg])

I know one of my friends who has put the same amount of time as me in gw2 and put more time into gw1 has already given up on the game. And its looking like I might be doing that too soon. Fun for a first playthrough, but nothing much to keep me interested right now.

I find it funny that you’re complaining about the dungeon code that nerfs your rewards for doing THE SAME EXACT ROUTE and saying it makes them tedious and unfun…. You do realize you can jump back and forth between 2 or more routes and get same rewards right? Pretty simple for you people that want to farm tokens for w/e reason….

What? When did I say that I was upset about the nerf to the money rewards? They change the actual dungeon paths to make them tedious and unfun. And most dungeons in general have lots of unfun mechanics. It’s not about the money, I have plenty of gold. (Tbh I have no idea how people get to 80 without having at least 10g…)

Ive actually done most of the things on that list. Or mentioned why I wouldnt want to be doing them in the first place. o.o

In one of the Caledon Forest outposts (a crafting area to the north, the name escapes me), I overheard two Sylvari NPC’s talking. Here’s their conversation, paraphrased:

“Yesterday I saw little creatures running all over the place, they startled me!”
“Little creatures? Oh, they’re just Asura, they’re strange but friendly.”
“No, these were little versions of normal-sized creatures!”

Apparently someone’s mini-Rytlock was running amok.

:)

See thats what I first thought.
But from my understand the market she mentions is where both NPCS are standing, and the mini creatures she talks about are actually ooze… things, from a dynamic event involving the nearby asura and his portal.

What Profession do you like to see around the most?

Well, normally I would think elementalist unless you are one like I am.
If then, guardian.

The reason for this is combo field fire.
Combo field fire works like this.
An elementalist (or some other profession) will put down a combo field type fire
Someone else will use a blast finisher (or the ele can too) suddenly everyone in your party now has 3 stacks of might. This can be done as many times as you like per fire field.

With my ele right now I can press f2→ 4 → f4 → 4 → 5 (and somewhere in there f6)
my team now has 9 stacks of might, fury and protection from me alone. Assuming we have someone else in the party who recognizes a fire field combo, we can easily have 20+ might stacks in a few short seconds.

As for guardian, they’re just really good. Plenty of party wide boons, very tanky, and good support abilities.

Which healing skill do you find most useful per class.

Cleansing wave + evasive arcana
press V to aoe heal for 1.5k and cure conditions? Yes please.
Doable twice every 10 seconds? Yes please.
Assuming im using staff, or someone places a water field a 2.3k heal combo? Yes please.

well coming from fort aspenwood, which is doing its fair share of night capping.

According to my guildies who play during the day, we have 2-3 hours queues. Whereas late night my queues are instant.

Which means there’s no benefit to joining our server for wvwvw unless you were also part of a night crew. Your queue time will (likely) increase, and you wont see much benefit.

That is funny. I like the fact that SoR players are always willing to attack. For the first few days when matches were not being reset we got stuck with Crystal Desert and Isle of Janthir. Despite being outmanned and outmatched we never gave up and kept on fighting when and where we could. Sure it would be nice if our players gave a bit more thought to tactics but that will come with time. Right now everyone is just getting to know the other players and learning the ins and outs of wvw. If we can get some good late night crews and daytime crews to go along with our primetime then I think we will be very competitive.

eh janthir and desert. We got sent right against jade quarry in the opening bout.
Then we rocketed down to facing kaineng
then bonged back up into a crystal desert and gates of madness double team.
we’ve fought crystal desert 3 times now actually <.<
FA just flip flops so constantly. Such is life at the 50% mark I guess.

Also this is really just a side note. But for all you Rall players out there, why is everyone on your server such a … young feline… I cant count how many SF players ive met and spoken to (some transfer to spy, and then we chat) who were cool as all heck. But literally every rall player I meet is just a massive jerkface. (for those who’ve never faced them, imagine eredon terrace, but remove anyone cool youve met from there, and then make their server population worse by about 10 degrees, and youll have rall players)

I think it is all a matter of perspective, because my opinion of zergwood folks is less then any other server we have matched up against yet. Rall on the other hand has a lot of old DAoC folks that have been around for ages, great folks and over time their organization will improve and so will their performance.

There are bad eggs on every server, your perception (and mine) of a server is largely about how often you run into the bad eggs, not the good ones.

I mean, is there anything specific that FA does that makes them seem bad to you? or is it just the zerging that they do? Because that happens on every server ranked above us too. :<
Is it because we cap everything during the night? We cant exactly help it. For a lot of us its the only time we get to play

Like, I can count on 1 hand the amount of SF players ive seen with the same jerk playstyle that I see in literally every rall player. Meanwhile I routinely run into awesome SF people. Earlier 2 rall dudes were straight camping one area, and I was fighting them, an SF person comes up and helps me kill both rall players then we go our own separate ways without fighting each other. This is a fairly common occurrence between FA and SF players. At one point there was an entire guild of about 20 SF players doing obby sanctum, there were 3 FA players with me, not a single person there attacked one another. They actually went out of their way not to use the torch skills in dark room because it causes inadvertent combat mode. This has never happened to me or anyone I know when it comes to rall players.

Needed less gw1 music in random places.

Ill hear the ascalonian music while inside sparkfly. That’s just silly.

Or the krytan music while in the middle of fireheart rise…

also my two favorite tracks ive only heard a grand total of twice
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YuKsDVNuRjs
which I only recall hearing during the searing caldron effigy fight.

and
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzoLP8Hb66k
which I heard during a random battle in frostgorge sound…

The charr theme that I heard when you fight the shatterer iskittengood though.

I’m a Rall player, and I have no idea what your talking about. Please don’t let the actions of a few paint our whole server in a bad light.

Even though we’ve been losing WvW has still remained fun. I can’t wait to duke it out some more!

I dunno man! I have met, at least 100 rall players, and not a single one was cool. This happens at all times of the day. I havent met a single cool rall player yet :<
My friend, who played WvWvW for 12 hours one day had this to say on the matter “I find it funny how the server named in memorial of that one guy who died has the highest concentration of kitten ive seen so far”

EDIT

I don’t understand the hate against Rall players either. I’ve had a blast this week going up against the endless horde of Fort Aspenwood. I’m sure there are a few unsavoury types on the server but doesn’t every server have a few?

Congratulations on a stellar victory this week Fort Aspenwoord. I’m guessing you will win by 300k by the time Friday comes around. Good Fight.

I mean, to try and explain it. Rall players just seem… exceptionally devoted to the cause of attacking other players. Even when winning is literately not possible for them. I’ve had rall players jump off a cliff, smack into the ground next to me with 25% hp, then their first thought is to attack me, even though im running away from their current direction. I obviously just turn around and 2 shot them because they’re at 25%. But still. This has happened more times that it really should… There’s also numerous packs of rall players groups of 3-5 who will pursue me literally across the entire map, to the point where ive led them into my teams nearest zerg because they’re just so singleminded for the kill. I’ve never seen a rall player not attack someone if they can. If the option is available to them they take it. The second a rall player has seen you he’ll drop what he’s doing (assuming its not fighting another human) and come after you, without even evaluating the situation in the slightest.

Normally it would just be ruthlessness, but the sheer abandon with which they do it comes off as kitteny rather than ruthless.

also meh. as part of the night crew im really not happy about the win. The best fighting is around midnight to 2 am EST. When our good players get on before the SF and Rall ones go to sleep. 2am-6am EST is just a stompfest. We have around double your players on every borderland and just run through your towers. I imagine day time would be more fun but I dont always get to play then ;__;

Coming from a fort aspenwood player here. And uh, we’re average. Literally rank 12 bang smack dab in the middle of the chart.

And honestly im very worried about next week.
Because based on the rankings I think it’s going to lump us against crystal desert. Who kicked ourkitten previous bracket (which is why we’re actually against SF and Rall who were below us (while they were next to us on the bracket, our previous matches had been vs maguuma, dragonbrand, crystal desert, Gates of madness, ETC)

My concern is that we’re honestly losing during the day time to these servers, and we’re most likely about to be sent against someone who will probably beat us during the day and night, sending us back down into lower brackets again. Essentially I think FA is about to be doing some ping-ponging, and I dont think our server population is going to survive it.

Also this is really just a side note. But for all you Rall players out there, why is everyone on your server such a … young feline… I cant count how many SF players ive met and spoken to (some transfer to spy, and then we chat) who were cool as all heck. Can i make money with karma?

@ minikiller (quote not working?)

for a legendary you need specific gifts. One of these gifts requires 250 obsidian shards which sell for 2100 (IIRC?) karma from a karma vendor in orr. Bringing you up to something like 525k karma needed.

There’s also another gift that you need 77 mystic clovers for. You have a 10% chance to get 10 of them using some recipe that takes I want to say 5 obby shards? which means you need 350 more shards on average for another 700k or so karma.

So yes, you will need over 500k karma at least, and then about a million depending on how lucky you are in order to make a legendary.
