The game works perfectly well and nothing is “wasted” (as the poster above says, once you’ve done progressing in levels & masteries, you don’t need ‘experience’ points).

While they’re not needed, that doesn’t mean they’re not wasted. You perform an action, you get xp for it and… the xp disappears. In another post you offered a reason why luck couldn’t be auto-consumed. This is a case of xp being auto-consumed into a black hole. In a game about progression that seems a strange omission.

Think of it this way, if the mobs didnt generate experience for you, you’d not get loot drops off them either.

I don’t understand your reasoning there. Could the game not give loot without giving experience?

What I see is, everyone said a such changement will not be noticeable. At least for those agree with the idea.

So, why Anet should bother with it, if it’s useless? There are others things better to change/do.

I think the cap is fine, really, for the same reasons mentionned by Illconceived Was Na. (yes, I don’t agree with you all that said it will not change (or barely) anything)

I’m not exactly sure what you’re saying.. but if you could do me a solid, please don’t use the “there are other things better to do” argument. It’s just pointless. Argue that it’s not a cost effective idea or that you personally don’t like it. Those are fine. But don’t argue priorities. We all have different ones and no matter what you think is important there’s going to be somebody else who thinks there are “other things better to do”. Do you see how meaningless that argument is? Anyway, my suggestion has derailed this post long enough. Back on topic.

Meta Achievement would be getting Gold on all Challenges and rewards the Player with a Specific Title and Special interactive node in their Home Instance from which they can take on any of these Adventurers, rather than have to run around and chase down each Adventure on their respective maps.

I like the idea of getting a node in my home instance to access an adventure – but having to get gold in all adventures to get it.. is probably too much. Maybe get access to any adventure from home once you get gold in that particular adventure?

Personally, I’d rather see a menu or bag menu option to “Auto consume all luck” while I’m working my way up to 300%.

Come on, anet. Do me a solid.

Are you referring to the luck stack right click “consume all” feature they added with HOT updates,

No, I use that all the time and it’s great but what I’d like even more is an option for the game to automatically consume any luck that comes out of bags. Just a little QoL feature that would make my day, but I know it’s a pipe dream.

The reason they don’t do that is that people stop noticing if they get insta-luck; people need to click something before they ‘remember’ that they are getting stuff. (Case-in-point: spirit shards — those go directly into the wallet now and people don’t even realize how many they get from champ bags and even foe kills.)

There’s a number of things we could debate in that premise, but the salient point is this: it hurts nobody to get an auto-consume option. I suspect you’re arguing that players need to see some reward for their actions to feel satisfaction from the game, which is true. Personally, I’d be more satisfied than I am already if the luck just consumed itself and reduced the number of clicks I have to do. If you want, it could even pop up that little indicator at the bottom right, as it currently does when you manually consume it, to let me know that some luck has been consumed. But again, it’s such a tiny QoL I don’t think it’ll ever get implemented.

I’m not really willing to get into a pedantic argument here because I don’t see how that makes or breaks any of the discussion here but to give you my personal opinion:

Legendary gear is BiS, not only because it has the highest stats in game, tied with Ascended, but because (if I understand correctly) it will have the ability to swap stats on the fly as well. That added function does make it better than Ascended, even if that function has questionable usefulness. If it doesn’t have that ability, then I’m inclined to agree with you … seems like it’s just a skin, which is rather questionable as a reward from the hardest content in the game.

Even if a person doesn’t consider Legendary gear BiS … Anet STILL never said players wouldn’t have to raid to get BiS gear.

I’m not looking for an argument either but I think you’re using the BiS definition differently from anet and that’s where the confusion lies, and your use of double negatives compounds that confusion.

I don’t get your point … Anet never said players wouldn’t have to raid to get BiS gear. Not all BiS gear is obtainable by just crafting; many of the mats you need come from raiding. There is no contradiction between things people invent in their heads that Anet said and how the game is realized.

The bottomline here is simple … If you want legendary armor that bad you do what EVERYONE else needs to do to get it. No special snowflakes here.

Quick question: from what I understand, legendary armour has the same stats as ascended armour, right? It’s only the legendary skin you get from raiding? It’s just confusing because you keep using BiS which really refers to stats not skin. Is there a stat combination that cannot be crafted without mats from raids? Just looking for a clarification.

Short of making a “mastery” that gives a tangible reward and recycles over and over, I doubt the current system would allow anything such as this, as post-80 it’s no longer a leveling system.

That’s actually one of the ideas that was circulated. It would be like the “Agent of Entropy” achievement.

It’s a neat idea. To play devil’s advocate, I imagine arguments against it might include the increased load of rendering the extra weapons and the ever-popular “clipping issues”.

As to the question of where the unused weapons go? Into hammerspace, of course, as does the rest of your inventory. That’s never bothered me – but personally, I’ve always wondered exactly how the used weapons stick to your back?! Is it magnets or magic? Or Velcro?

Anyway, one little thing that I’d love to see is that your weapons actually stay with you when you emote. A man can dream.

What I’m curious about is whether it takes an entire cutscene to reset the level to whatever state it needs to be in. I can’t see how it would, given that cutscenes are different lengths. (At least, they seem to be. Haven’t timed them.)

I’d be okay with a loading screen that lasts only as long as it needs to, rather than re-watching an over-long cutscene. Of course, there would be an option in the menu for this: “Show loading screen instead of cutscene on replay” or whatever.

Ideally, this could also be applied to all content that involves repeated unskippable cutscenes, like dungeons and fractals.

It’s not like I ever suggested anyone give the mobs 3k-20k extra HP… ’cause I agree that just extra HP makes combat a slog.

I said by adjusting your level, YOU’d have less. Doing less damage might mean mobs have a relatively higher HP, true

So combat is only a slog if mobs literally have a higher hp rather than only relatively? This part confused me. Can you clarify?

Second, higher damage does make them more interesting.

I have to agree with maddoctor. Giving enemies greater damage doesn’t objectively make them interesting. It might to some, but it’s not a surefire win-win. The HOT modrem have higher damage than central tyrian critters but they’re such a bland, forgettable bunch. Just avoid orange circles, dodge if a target appears above your head, etc. I can’t say I even notice what attack they’re doing. Mostly they’re just speed bumps on the way to somewhere else. Except pocket raptors. They’re just so cute. And their damage isn’t as high as other jungle critters, so that’s something to consider in the damage = interesting argument.

I’d also like more challenge, but I have a different perspective on it. Rather than critter-challenge, I’d like more environmental challenge. Something like tombs or ziggurats or other structures filled with traps (and some critters) where creative thinking and some teamwork wins the day. Kind of like Tomb Raider but with other people. The traps and critters can be deadly (to satisfy your damage fetish) as long as they’re ingenious and hopefully fiendish. In HOT we have critters amped up to hard levels. Now we need something like Provernic Crypt amped up to hard.

Maybe we just need to agree to disagree?

Why? This discussion is interesting. Let’s keep going.

Sometimes I think it would be useful if mushrooms threw you in whichever direction you were facing, like the aetherblade gears do in NSS, but admittedly, that would also be somewhat confusing and potentially dangerous.

PvE vs PVP community

Zoltar MacRoth.7146

PvE is more than just dungeons!!!!!

It is also open world event trains. Solo and small group map exploration. World boss training. Even raids and fractals.

To add to that, it’s also jumping puzzles and collections and mini-games you make up with friends and crafting and gliding and lore. It’s meeting other people on a jumping puzzle and using your portal to help them up, or using the portal of someone else kind enough to help. It’s coming across a downed player and ressing them so they can finish the fight. It’s sitting on a beach at Orr and watching the sun glisten on the oily sand. It’s sitting on the broken wall with a friend from another country and chatting for hours while you admire the stars. It’s a million little stories and interactions you have with people when you’re not trying to kill each other.

OP – If you haven’t yet experienced these things, then you haven’t really experienced the PvE community.

Not really, at least not the sky part. The monster under the bed is a crucial part of childhood tradition. There has to be a bed; that’s essential. The type of monster under it is a little more flexible – although a dragon probably won’t fit.

  • Collector/Farmer:
    - increase the chance of rare material u get from a nod.
    - increase the chance to get 1 extra material from a nod.
    - u r able to plant ur own plants and trees. (ur own farm..and harvest the things u plant)
    - chance to find a rich ore while mining in a cave, or in an area with much rocks.
    - (i think this masterie dont need to be careful about a loot nerf like the monster hunter or others..bcs while running around finding the chests u sometimes dont kill efficiantly monsters..so there is also enough moneyloss)

I’ve seen this idea raised before but with some different skills (which I’d personally find very useful) to add to the list: being able to see nodes at a greater distance/on the map/or on the map after discovering them.

  • Mini Master:
maybe sounds a bit strange..but i guess it should be nice for fashion and shiny hunter.
    - let ur mini grow a bit bigger.
    - let ur mini get an aura
    - be able to have 2 minis.

I’m not much into minis but I can see the satisfaction a person might have in having two or even three little critters following them. But considering how often minis are hidden in events for performance reasons, multiplying the number of minis each player can have seem an unlikely proposition.

That may work but it’s a kludge and doesn’t address the core issue that frequently used areas should NOT have repetitive violets… I mean, sounds. It’s not right that we have to adjust our interface to the game because life is a trial—I mean, because anet refuses to address the issue that mordemoth can attack the pale tree in the grove..uh, the issue that repetitive sound effects near frequently used facilities can drive a person to establish their prominence.. darn it. For example, the CoF glider could be a glider made of fire, while HotW could be using the kodan-designs metal and ice (not realistic but hey neither are animal wings on plant people)
    -Snip-

I like the idea of being able to craft gliders especially ones themed to crafting professions. Somehow I see the chef one made of cooking utensils strung together or chef hats and aprons. For a jeweler a glider strung together with jewels or crystals – it could be a great way of using up the copper, silver, gold etc. for a really flashy or color coordinated glider. It would be also kind of neat to be able to customize – have several parts so you can mix and match your glider within that profession.

That would be amazing. A lot of work for the devs probably but kitten ’em – what have done for us lately?
Yeah, being able to craft your own glider would be sweet.
