Not at all. Think about it, why make only bags slot expansion character only?
All the gathering nodes are account bound, not character.
Additional crafting license goes for every character on the account.
There’s a simple motivation to all the clues you’ve listed, and I think you know what it is. I’m not passing judgement on whether the answer is justified or not, just that it’s the most natural explanation for what you’re describing. Sorry to be cyptic, but I’ve kind of started to enjoy this little game we’re playing.
That seems like a question that should be rhetorical.
I looked into this as I was playing the other day. I thought I’d found the solution when I shut down Dialog Volume, but the problem is, when you do that you lose not just the NPC chatter but essential gameplay info that you want to / need to have. To continue to get that info one could rely on text dialog boxes, but I found that occasionally I was facing the wrong direction, and with audible dialog off, I missed a few instructions, directions, or tips I needed. So it was back to running like a centaur and healing as one and Koda being judge and jury and talking cabbages until… well… the dolyaks come home.
I don’t imagine it’s possible to go too fine-grained on the options. If you look at the choices now, there are quite a few. And certainly there are other things that would be a higher priority for change, if change was even contemplated. But it’s good to have feedback on this subject, and I’ll see if I can learn anything about it.
Thank you for looking into it, Gaile. It goes without saying that there are always things with a higher priority but I don’t think what we need is more options, just an extension on the already existing intervals in some npc’s dialogue loops. For example the SW guy who babbles about Mordremoth attacking the pale tree. He has one line and repeats it every 30 seconds. Extend that to minutes and you’ve made a world of difference with little effort. Over time, gradually extend the dialogue intervals of other npcs in high traffic areas. Or, better, move them slightly away from the merchants they’re standing beside. This would be a small but effective start to a more living world. Just a thought.
A tutorial certainly wouldn’t hurt. Anyone who needs one (me included) could use it, and those that don’t need it can ignore it.
Rounded maps are yesterday. Donut maps are the future.
Oooh! Take a leap of faith! Go on! I’m sure there’s a haystack down there!
Asking for Pistols and every class that has them already are like the worst weapons in the game…
Try engie with Pistols and then see how fun they are, or Thief even.
I find them fun. Probably not the most effective in pvp, but in pve they suit me just fine and with the right trenchcoat and hat and pistols akimbo, you feel like a wild west gunslinger.
Let’s think about why anet made this dialogue: to make the world seem more “alive”. Does looping dialogue work towards this goal? No. Pretty soon it does the opposite. It makes the world feel like it’s full of scripted animatronics. If the goal is a more life-like world, the dialogue needs to be more dynamic. Or less obviously looping. Greater spans of time between each repetition at the very least. Like others, I’ve also taken to playing without sound because the dialogue is ruining an otherwise immersive experience. And that’s a shame.
If it’s the scenery that’s important and not having your char in it, you could enable first person view. Hope that helps.
I get stuck on imperceptible hitches in the terrain
^ Tell me about it. This happens a lot in EOTM, especially the snowy parts. Running with the zerg I’ll come to a sudden stop and wonder.. what the-? Some piece of snow (snow!!) was jutting higher than the rest.
Don’t talk smack about Taimi. She ressed me when Zoija didn’t. I know who I’d want on my airship.
it should not be “trained” to ppl, players should know what to do in certain situations, especially in HoT.
Thank you, Mary Sue.
The Black Citadel isn’t a city. The entire structure is a giant machine that folds up onto itself, with the Core as its, well, core. Look around for the joints and non-fused gear plates throughout the “road” system and across the various structures and outcroppings. They’re at oddly specific angles for random scrap, but if you stand on them… they all bend toward either the center or another fold. I believe those aren’t roads at all. They’re walls.
Furthermore, I suspect the collapsed form is mobile, to some degree. I found structures resembling rocket boosters underneath the foundry, and plenty of designs resembling conveyors or some form of treads. I haven’t found anything resembling “hands”, or fine manipulation devices, so I surmise the collapsed form isn’t humanoid… perhaps a big tank or gyro wheel.
OMG! The Black Citadel is actually…. the Technodrome!!
Since all Tyrians can breathe under water and don’t need diving masks, why does my toon need to swap headgear in/out of water? On land one of my toons wears the skull face mask to hide the horrible scars he got from a chainsaw-tabogganing accident as a child but when he enters water it swaps to a dive mask and everyone can see his shame.
He would be much pleased if either he could keep the same helmet on water and land, OR if his dive mask could at least be reskinned to his land helmet.
Tyrian medical science hasn’t yet progressed to the stage where it can fix his scars. Help him get his dignity back. Please.
Bad idea in my opinion. At this rate pretty soon people wont even need to play GW cause everything will just be given to us for a few Gold..
I feel that melodramatic argument has been overused recently. And it’s disingenuous because the OP is suggesting paying for the waypoints in skill points, not gold.
I like mapping myself but I don’t care if somebody else unlocks their waypoints. Doesn’t affect me.

Aw…you gave it away too soon.
I’ve seen it in Vexa’s Lab (the creature fighting annex) for some time. It’s annoying but I figured Vexa is like that. Vexatious.
Where’s that -1 button when ya need it??
No down vote button.
You could even say it was c-Eir-less of them not to put one in.
Maybe its time to mull(et) over one?
Do we really need to split hairs?
Sounds reasonable. He was Eir’s heir and when he lost his Eir he lost his hair. He is now Eir’s hairless heir. The next story line will have Eir’s hairless heir looking for a hare so the hare can be Eir’s hairless heir’s hare.
What a Eir raising tale!
If Zhaitan were still around, things could get really Eir-raising!

There are a couple of places where map completion requires doing a jumping puzzle (Dredgehaunt Cliffs, Straits of Devastation, and Diessa Plateau come immediately to mind, and then there are the HoT maps which have a lot of jp elements worked into their design).
Oh, you’re right! I just remembered Vizier’s Tower!!
and why not give a consume all to bags too? they need to draw a borderline somewhere… they decided to just do it with essences, which is fine imo, have you ever salvaged hundreds of ectos
Indeed. Why not give a Consume All to bags? It’s been raised before and if a person understands the ramifications of using the option, why not let them use it? Caveat Emptor.
Where do they “draw a borderline”? Well, they made a Consume All option on luck, then recently added it to transformation charges I believe, because it makes sense. And over time I suspect they’ll add it to other things that make sense. It’s a moving line. Who’s to say where it should stop except anet.
Yay! you spent money, here’s some achievement points. Hardly call that worthy of an achievement.
Frankly, clicking 1,000 or 10,000 or X number of times doesn’t seem like much of an achievement either – especially when people could use a macro to perform two clicks with one press or employ a sibling to sit there tapping a key. The achievement comes from acquiring the gold and karma and the determination to spend a lot of these on one achievement.
have you ever salvaged hundreds of ectos
I haven’t salvaged hundreds, but if someone wanted to why stop them?
but in order to get credit for clearing a zone. I am forced to do this thing I Loathe
Hi Claudia – can you elaborate more on this one? Do you mean there’s a poi or vista in a jp somewhere?
Personally cant imagine anyone reaching the end of one of these things and saying. kitten I enjoyed that…
Um… come with me on a few and you’ll see that. I’ll even bring a mes and portal you up to the end so you can get the achievement.
Maybe that’s all you use them for as a human, but we charr also use our cows as battle companions and catapult ammunition!
And on a cold night….
Tap the spacebar and have it fail to register? Or have it register the jump, but deploy the glider anyway? (Especially in quick-succession jumps)
I’ve had this experience too, especially in the mushroom jp for some reason. It’s as if the client is so busy with the extra processing/rendering there’s a delay in reacting to the keyboard input.
fingers crossed for a simple glider toggle at some point

I’ve been enjoying it too this week, especially since the new LFG – played it three times in a row last night. So…many…..noxious.. pods!!!!
There’s already a thread about this, with plentiful discussion. Suggest merging this with that.

Adventures and jumping puzzles have some commonality. Some adventures are jumping puzzles. But adventures have something jumping puzzles don’t: reward levels. As a jp enthusiast it was enjoyable finishing them all… but now what? Yes, you can do them all again and again and improve on your times and get some loots, but there’s no record of your improvement, as there is with adventures.
My suggestion is adding bronze/silver/gold achievements to jps; bronze for finishing them, and silver for finishing them within some time limit, and gold for finishing within the time limit and not dying/restarting/something along those lines.
To be clear, I’m not looking for extra reward chests. Just some achievements that record how good I got with each jp. There would be no mastery points or other rewards locked behind these achievements. These would be solely extra cheevos for those that like jumping puzzles, and will not affect anybody else. They don’t even have to give AP or titles.
I realise there’s no official start location with jps as there is with adventures, but there’s some point on each jp where you’re undeniably on the jp and maybe that point should be highlighted in some way. With Morgan’s Spiral, for example, it’s when you step on that first leaf at the bottom.
With any suggestion, there’s usually a fair amount of “fat” consisting of people saying that i) anet has better things to do, ii) it would take too much work, iii) it’s only desired by a small group, and iv) probably though inexplicably someone will spout “L2P”.
I’m hoping we can trim the fat off this conversation leaving only the juicy discussion of the actual topic by offering you the following disclaimer: this idea is only presented here to record it for posterity, with no expectation that it should or would ever be implemented. It’s something I would enjoy. No animals were harmed in the making of this suggestion. If symptoms persist, see your Lion’s Arch healthcare professional.

I’m hoping if beds become available they’ll go the minecraft way and allow us to use them as spawn points when we enter the guild hall. I have a little space in my guild hall that I think of as my own and I’d like to appear there when I enter the hall, since it’s way up high and a real pain to get to from the main spawn at ground level. There’s so many rooms in the halls. We should be able to pick a room as our own and spawn there. Just a little day dream I have.
FYI – there’s already a thread about this. Maybe this should be merged with that.

Another thought…. I’m not a broom or carpet guy, but a skateboard. Yes, I’d buy one. It would work just like the broom. No animations needed. Have the character stand in the standard “in combat” stance but without weapon. You’re still running everywhere but now it looks so much cooler, especially when you “ride” off a cliff and switch to glider. xD
Yes, Anet is handing out too much on a silver plattern catering to the instant gratification crowd of lazy casuals. The golden age of MMORPGs seems to be over thanks to instant gratification crowd.
If it would just be this lvl 80 boost I would not care, but the free hand outs are everywhere in GW2 and it seems to get more and more as the game matures.
Have you considered building a wall to keep us filthy, lazy casuals out? Cause we’re all looters and pillagers you know, and love touching your shinies.
Instead of mounts, I’d be happy with more jump pads all over the place. It’s like a little wintersday every time I see one.
And if they would throw you in whichever direction you were facing rather than some preset direction, that would be a ten wintersdays rolled into one.
Well, if you aren’t among the Chosen, you get nothing.
I will not buy HoT. I guess I’m invisible and unworthy of any future consideration.
Doesn’t matter that I’ve bought gem cards worth far more than the cost of that sorry, single demographic, feature sized “expansion”.
Why won’t you buy HoT? Just curious.
Simple. I am disabled and play with only my right hand and a single usable digit on my left. Why buy a nightmare? Sadly, platforming and vertical have become the norm, and not an interesting option for those who enjoy that. Single demographic. If you can’t/don’t like platforming, go away.
I can play Core, even though I am gated from an increasing number of options/achievements there, I can’t even enter Dry Top in spite of hours spent attempting it before giving up. And no, I refuse to be “carried”, If I cannot do content myself, I won’t.
Although I did raid in WoW, Everquest, AoC and EQ2, I am too slow and imprecise to do group content now, I cannot carry my weight. I solo in Core. I do have 8k ap and rank 250 in wvw, not much, but I try. AP comes very slowly now. I have 13 80’s and now a 52, I bought another slot again because leveling a char is something to do.
I play core because there is still an option on how I can play. I watched hours of HoT footage, and there is simply no options for me there.
I’m sorry to hear that, Teofa. If you’d like some help with AP or jps, I’d be happy to help out with my mes. On the subject of HOT though, we should distinguish between the jungle maps and everything else. HOT also brings gliding to core, which makes for a lot of fun. It also brings legendary collections which slowly fill up just by doing a lot of normal things, like harvesting some plants. And there’s masteries which, even in core, provide useful things like auto-looting, faster running in cities and faster revive. And there’s the elite specs. Even if you don’t go into the jungle maps, there’s value in looking at buying HOT. But in terms of jungle maps, you should try Dragons Stand. It doesn’t require any fancy jumping, except for a bit of flying at the end, and it’s big-group content where you wouldn’t feel carried and still be able to participate with whatever you’re able to do. All the best to you.
Lol because THEY want everything handed to THEM on a silver platter. OP wants everything free after 3 years of having everything free. OP got what they paid for but wants more and more now. :/
It’s a little more complicated than that. See OP’s explanation above.
That’s… quite a spiel. And a few strawmen. Why is this debate so important to you?
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/straw%20man
“a weak or imaginary opposition (as an argument or adversary) set up only to be easily confuted”There is nothing weak or imaginary about what I am saying. To make shared inventory movable would in fact require pointers to a single item to cover every possible variation in position the inventory database. There is nothing straw man about that. Ask any programmer. Anet has even said this. From the AMA on Reddit…
“ArenaNetRyanD
Allowing for moving the shared slots around like a bag is a decent amount of work. It’s not out of the realm of possibility, and something we should look at especially if we increase the cap on shared slots much more in the future. The suggestion in that thread for keeping the shared slots and main inventory separate, even in “Hide Bags” mode is something that may be a reasonable compromise that can be done on a shorter timeframe. No guarantees on if or when, but I’ll take a look when I have some down time."
And this particular debate isn’t so much the point as people whining whenever Anet, or any company for that matter, decided to do something nice. You have multiple threads in this very forum of people complaining that Anet has included 2 gold as a reward for completing the Daily meta. At some point it gets ridiculous.
Okay, I’m feeling ranty…. your explanation makes no sense. You mangle computer terminology without seeming to know what it actually means. The majority of my work is in databases and user interfaces and I couldn’t make sense of what you were saying.
This for example….
To make shared inventory movable would in fact require pointers to a single item to cover every possible variation in position the inventory database. There is nothing straw man about that. Ask any programmer. Anet has even said this.
This shows you don’t know how databases work or how pointers work and you’re inventing a limitation that doesn’t exist for a system you know nothing about. And you’re misrepresenting what the Anet dev said. He only said it was hard.
The thing is, the storage of the items is irrelevent. In the simplest case, a modern relational database may retrieve the inventory items with a query along the lines of “select * from … where…” and end that query with “order by …” to sort those items. In this example, if the shared slots were identified in some way (as they would be) the sort might be as simple as “order by shared_slot desc, bag_no”. The “desc” stands for descending in general SQL parlance and would tell the database to return shared slots last.
To be clear, I don’t think this is literally how anet’s database gets the inventory data (I don’t know their database) – it’s just an example of how the order of data can be controlled in some situations regardless of how that data is stored. Now, it’s possible anet has a proprietary database that isn’t relational, but it can’t be as restrictive as you’re describing or the game wouldn’t be possible. But neither of us really knows.
And furthermore, the database is irrelevant altogether because it’s the client that renders the visuals you see, in the order you’re seeing them. And that client can be changed to render things in a different order. I’m not disputing that it might be very difficult to change the client rendering – but I dispute your straw man that this is entirely a database issue.
And let’s say you make it so that the only option to move is to the bottom. Well, that also is going to depend on how the inventory is set up in the database to begin with.
Straw man, as explained above. Separation of data, business logic and presentation layers.
You may have one character with all bag slots unlocked and another with only the 5 that come with it. So let’s say you move it to the bottom slot. Well, if Anet has it so each bag slot is numbered then the Shared Inventory will be the 6th bag slot on the character with only 5 slots and the 9th bag slot in the character with all 8. Now, if 6-8 are reserved spaces in the coding, yes, that could make it easier to do, however, since you can’t just unlock the 7th slot without first unlocking the 6th, it may not be that way. Making it go to the bottom could be a very extremely difficult process.
Ongoing straw man.
Not to mention I doubt the majority of players would want it at the bottom as the majority of the use of these slots are for things like Merchants, TP access, bank access which people want to get to quickly.
You must be aware that people are asking for an OPTION – which is a thing that allows some people to have it their way, and other people to have it a different way. Nobody should be forced to have this at the bottom and it’s disingenuous of you to keep pretending that’s the argument from the side that wants it moved.
And Anet on Reddit has already said that they may look at it in the future, but pretty much said it will be difficult to do.
Yes, but that doesn’t mean people can’t discuss the thing which is what you seem very opposed to.
So really, the only realistic option is do we want to go through some very minor inconvenience (and if this is anything more than a very minor inconvenience, then honestly, you need to examine some things in your life)
Straw man that this is the only option. And I wonder how many minor inconveniences you’d put up with? Have you disabled double-tap for dodge? Why? Isn’t that just a minor inconvenience?
.. and have Anet do nice things for us, or do we just want to say, nope don’t give us anything for free from this point forward.
Actually, I was mistaken. It’s not all straw men. It’s also false dichotomies.
I somehow think the vast, VAST majority of people would rather have the free slot.
Why do you keep declaring that it’s either: 1) a free slot you can’t control OR 2) no free slot at all? Why are those the only choices?
EDIT: Changed B followed by bracket to 2 because it was substituting a happy face, and that wasn’t my feeling at the time of writing.

Really, the point of the game is what you want it to be. If someone enjoys leveling up, they still can. If they don’t, they can use this (once). As you probably know, the maps are scaled so lower-level content is still playable at 80.
I don’t know. A spear is… a pointy stick. Kind of like a staff only.. sharper? I’m not sure what cool animations you’re imagining or how they’re going to vastly change gameplay but who knows.. maybe they could find a way to make it work.
maybe they should find a way, you mean. underwater weapons serve no purpose anymore.
O…kay. You seem to really like spears. That’s cool. Can you give any more detail on how you would like spear to work on land? Do you see it as a long range weapon (shooting beams maybe?) or a melee weapon? What is the defining thing about the spear that will differentiate it from other weapons? Which classes would be able to use it?
In a new patch we are getting reward of 2 golds for a daily achievements, it is too much in my opinion, with 2golds per day, just from achievements, its like 730g / year. With that big income of thousand players it could harm gw2 economy really hard.
What do you feel about that ?
tbh i make 60-80 gold a day and that’s being lazy so no 2 gold wont harm the economy at all.

No traps, no glass ground, no hammer anymore… Why did you remove everything that made the map cool ?
Wait.. there’s no hammer in Sky..hammer?
I said this in another thread and I’ll say it here: thank you Anet. This patch was surprising and impressive.
First of all, you’re the one who claims that Anet does not even have to be thanked for that.
They don’t have to be thanked. They make a game. We pay for it. That’s it. We’re not friends. There is nothing in the EULA that requires us to thank them. It’s a nice thing to do and people do it, but it’s not mandatory as you keep implying.
But since it’s such a big bug bear for you, let me get it out of the way..
THANK YOU ANET. I mean that sincerely. This update is seriously impressive and the shared slot is a wonderful gift. I truly appreciated it.
Now, Wildkitten. With that out of the way, can you let people get on with debating the suggestion to move the slot?
A company can’t cater to every person’s variation of OCD.
Now you’re just being a troll’s rear end. They catered to that live streamer. They can cater to whoever they want. It’s not your decision what QoL feature is worthwhile. Get off your high horse. This is a no-mounts game.
Thank you from me too. Very impressive update. Well done! I’ve already tried the jumping puzzle daily and started my tiger hunt.
