no no I think he’s right on the mark… WVW is PVP and honestly a WvW player should be able to get anything they need through WvW should they wish without stepping foot into the PVE environment.

WvW players should gain XP in WvW combat (I don’t WvW so if that’s the case ignore this one)

Players killed in WvW should have a chance to drop gear / items on equal quality to PVE drops, including a chance to get pre-cursors. (again, if this already happens fine, if not.. it should!)

WvW maps should have one mystic forge set in an area that would mandate fighting to control it (and thus he who controls the spice … err… forge… controls the universe)

WvW maps should have crafting stations, as well as drops of crafting materials… etc..

WvW should have the option to acquire ascended gear through combat and spending tokens….

in short, a total seperation of PVE and PVP, there could even be dungeons in WvW zones and combatants must fight for area control in order for their teams to enter… blah blah… just theorycrafting but you see my point.

Nix the world completion in WvW so PVE players need not go there and make it such that WvW players can get anything they want through the gameplay they prefer. It just makes sense to me.

Back in GW1… access to the Fissure of Woe and Underworld were based on which region had control of the mists.

portals to FoW and Underworld, where riches beyond imagination lie (ascended item tokens… etc) and make them fight for control of the portals… whoever has 80% zone control has access to FoW and Underworld. Make it an area of competition between the regions of the mists or something like that…. and in FoW or Underworld, players killed have a chance to drop precursors!

Yeah, the laurels aren’t the problem, it’s the fact each level also costs 50 BoH. If you’ve already made a couple of legendaries then you’re going to be pretty strapped on BoH, even with the ones from achievement chests.

Wut? This isn’t launch week, BoHs grow on trees these days. Spent a thousand the other day and will have made them back in no time flat. 50 BoH is nothing.

Well. I don’t know what to say. Everyone in Tyria, EVERYONE know who the DE is. If You’re not Sylvari newborn, who actually missed them out in dream, you should be able to recognize them.
And that doesn’t solve the problem – why my human toon (or charr, or whatever – but human is clear winner here), who spend hours on top of hours in dungeons (story mode at lest 4 times on each – with my guildies and new guildies and…), have whole PS etc. etc. need to be brought down to those “newborn Sylvaries that may or may not have a clue about DE”.
Do I remember everyone I meet? Nope. But I would remember seeing the glimps of lets say… Metallica/Jackson/Lady Gaga/Real Madrid or whatever – if I was 100% positive I’ve seen them. And it’s hardly a good comparison, when DE is so much more for Tyria, than any band/team is in our world.

He turns up at various points in time based on character race. His first appearance for most players is Claw Island. He is introduced as someone well known by your mentor as a scholar of Orr. He is there for the very same reason you and your mentor are there, as he acknowledges. He then asks for your permission to accompany you. This is hardly taking charge.

You and Trahearne, at his request, seek help from the Pale Tree. This mission is largely about Orr, Trahearne, and his lack of confidence in being a general. Both Trahearne and the Pale Tree treat you as the player as important to reclaiming Orr. If anyone is stealing the spotlight at this point it’s that Avatar of the Pale Tree. Always building up Trahearne when he’s down and showing visions of your destiny.

The following mission has you saving your order. At the end you propose to form The Pact alliance, not Trahearne; and Trahearne agrees to follow whatever your plan might be.

Trahearne’s introduction, to most players, isn’t remarkably different from other NPCs that aid the player. It is hardly spotlight grabbing.

Everyone starts bowing down to him and following everything he does and all you have is his dirty work to do. He totally removes the feeling of being the spotlight of the story, the hero and the driving force in change and it comes out of nowhere.

To the contrary. After you decide to form the Pact and you choose Trahearne to lead it; the first mission has you deciding the tactics for retaking Claw Island and Trahearne agreeing to them. The NPCs that offer victory dialogue thank you and Trahearne. Trahearne repeats that he needs you by his side to keep the orders unified. Trahearne offers his doubts about reclaiming Orr and you give him hope.

In Forging the Pact, no one is bowing down to Trahearne. The point of this mission actually to convince the orders that Trahearne can lead them as they all have doubts.

I could go on and look into every mission dialogue for you, but I think your should do your own homework. I think you’ll find that Trahearne gives a lot of credit to the player and that this is mostly a story about you supporting Trahearne through his Wyld Hunt. It is not your Wyld Hunt, but you play an important role in it.

There are problems with Trahearne. His introduction for most players is without much precedent, as is the case with many other plot elements (e.g., only some Auran players learn about Professor Gorr’s theory that is largely dropped into other player’s laps when it becomes necessary). He also has a very unemotional voice actor, which can be more than irritating when certain lines need to be delivered with emotion. This could be because of the writing or the actor, I’m not sure which.

Tyria is the biggest continent right? Its possible that the other nations have only one or two dragons, or are under attack by the DSD, which would logically have the greatest sphere of influence because of the amount of sea on the planet. Or maybe theres some reason dragons keep away from there (Cantha’s plague?).

Harpies were my first guess, but wouldn’t largos also be possible? I feel largos kodan would make more sense than harpy kodan.

Plus, I sort of get the feeling largos might get along with tengu, not sure why, maybe like an honor system they could agree with, but having them be violent against us, don’t see that happening.

Largos dont really do teamwork, except for teacher-apprentice relationships.

Why? From what I heard, they weren’t breaking the law. It was Kasmeer’s brother who was in debt and her father chose to step in for him. I don’t understand why they were going to kill her brother. How can that be legal in Kryta? It doesn’t even make good business sense – dead people don’t pay bills. Regardless, her father stepped in and was unable to pay his own debts (that’s his responsibility). He wasn’t mistreated. The only person doing anything wrong here (aside from maybe Kasmeer’s brother) is the prisoner/s who killed her father. The magister did nothing wrong.

While he was most likely joking, have you played a human? Almost every storyline they have is about government corruption.

The reason I didn’t post this was because I felt that we had enough condi clears and good enough access to it. The issue lies more on the fact that condispam is incredibly prevalent and THAT needs to be toned down instead of our defense against conditions moved up.

I agree Ele has good condition management options. It is just that conditions need to be toned down. In dueling/roaming in WvW it is different then sPvP balance.

I bring up my time playing guardians alot but I feel that people compare ele’s defensive abilities to guards and our offensive abilities to warriors.

Sure a ele has to go 30 water and 20 arcana for 50 point investment but a guard has to go 30 honor, 10 valor, and 20 virtues for a 60 point investment and to really click you need some extra runes on top of it with soldier. Ether renewal tips it totally into eles favor since guards just have signet for 1 condi every 10 secs.

If anything I would say using this perspective is that guards have some pretty good group utilites to deal with conditions. Ele could maybe use some help on the utility front to deal with conditions and maybe that would allow some people to feel comfortable moving out of water though many don’t go 30 in water and that is really D/D and Staff bunkers.

Yea I agree the glyphs and signets are a bit selfish with signets being pretty lackluster. I added some more to that specific post you quoted saying the same thing.

Signet of Air is awesome though. AoE blind and a stunbreak on a relatively low cooldown.

Snare or interrupt before they enter stealth, anticipate movements. Anticipating can only be done by learning to play. Pay attention and study your foes.

From what I’ve read the wurm boss will be similar in difficultly to Tequatl and for story you only need to fight the boss, which makes me thankful I’m in TTS at the moment. I’d join a Teq slaying guild before this boss patches as I imagine they’ll be recruiting in the lead up to this update.

The difficulty doesn’t bother me, but if the rewards aren’t better than then champ trains, then it will just be abandoned like Teq was. A-net really needs to balance which content gives rewards, and make some content give exclusive rewards. I’m not sure if they already do this, but it would help utilize the more abandoned world bosses.

Ive only beaten Teq twice, but I thought the rewards were pretty good. I got an ascended chest on my first time beating him though (about a month ago). Why are people always saying the rewards arent good enough? Its like 15 mins of actually doing something.

I was let down and those Swim Boosters are about as useful as a ruined ore chunk.

I’m sure they have reason to not be that good at the game. Bad internet connection maybe, on prescription meds, dyslexic, having kids running around in the background who they have to deal with….

Having linear progression doesn’t insure good players. I’ve played with bad players in every game that has linear progression. Those who are interested in playing better will get better. Those who aren’t, aren’t going to get better.
