I use a full set of celestial ascended gear in WvW. I like it, and find it quit good.
A kit? I don’t want to light a fire but it looked more like a turret, I did forget that skill existed.
It is actually a turret that functions like a kit.
WvW is part of PvE
You sir have quit the imagination.
They’re useless pve they need..
They are by no means perfect, but they sure are not useless. What is so funny about folks such as yourself who use definitive statements is that the counter argument is simply “no they are not”
(edited by dancingmonkey.4902)
So what about the 6 of you here demanding it be changed, is so special that you think you deserve to have it changed simply because you do not like it. Myself and many many other really like the looks of them.
It is one thing to open dialogue on the issue. It is another to definitively claim “it needs to be changed” because the counter argument becomes “no, it doesn’t” .
Everyone has the right to complain. The problem is that many of those who do complain, do so in a hateful and accusatory manner. What is worse, is that most of what they complain about is an ill informed perception of what they think a problem is, without any real knowledge of it.
TW is good only for golem rush and unopposed Lord slaughter these days.
Portal is used for golem rush and keep retake. With only few mesmers in the zerg it is hard to use it in any other way due to long recharges.
Poor poor man. You should really try thinking outside of the box. These skills are good for dungeons, world bosses, even solo combat.
As for the lifeblast damage, for that much damage a condi build needs to be within the 600 range cap. Condi builds try very hard to stay further away, so that also is less than likely to happen consistently.
Where you like to stand , range wise, has nothing to do with whether or not that damage amount is a capability. You specifically stated that yes, you actually do dispute that life blast hits for 2k………………….it either can or it cannot.
Could you recommend me a youtube channel for this build?
To watch while I play it?
umm, there is a youtube link in the original post.
They need to fix this class.
Although I do agree that kit refinement got destroyed in my opinion. (it used to be one of my favorite traits over all) But given all that you stated, what can the profession not do that defines it as broken?
Mines, useless………LMAO…………………No, no they are not. Could the proximity detonation use some work, sure, but the fact that a player can detonate them at any time makes them very useful. You referenced reality when it comes to the mines. So as a person who has served multiple years in the US Armed forces and spent time deployed, and personally had direct contact with mines, IED’s, and other explosive devices, I am curious to where you got your expertise to declare how they “behave in reality” ???
Sure, there is always room for improvement, but to claim the entire profession needs to be fixed, implies that it is broken. It isn’t.
I am all for making positive changes, but post such as yours that are riddled with extreme hyperbole, and irrational exclamations tend to be extremely counter productive.
(edited by dancingmonkey.4902)
Please tell me what’s wrong with soloing a path, I’m listening.
As I see it, if you can solo something designed for 5 players, then it needs to be rebalanced so that it needs 5 people.
You could always limit the number of builds you could save (2 per char) and sell expansion wardrobes for additional builds using gems!
Absolutely. Personally I have no problem what so ever paying a few bucks for a handy and convenient benefit of this nature. As I see it, it would make players happy, while at the same time, giving Anet additional cash flow.
And in regards to GW2 players trying out the skills, traits etc in a private client would be an awesome idea, but will also have its drawbacks.
This would be the worst idea in my opinion. At this point, all of the feedback from players would generally just be biased towards their personal favorite or main profession.
Umm, you guys are aware that they announced a nerf to turrets knock back already right?
Seems a little odd to complain that something needs a nerf almost a month after they already announced a nerf.
Between static shock, static discharge, and static shot, I feel we are already bordering the line of over doing the electrical theme.
I disagree. Personally, I feel if we are permitted to heal in DS, that the base health of DS needs to be lowered.
I want to know why turrets do not disappear when the ENG is on the other side of the map, even Mesmer portal has a range limit?
Yet mesmer phantasms do not.
Although I personally see no problem with turrets destructing once the one that placed them breaks the 2000 range mark.

How would you suggest reworking it?
The trade-off was Immunity/Mobility/Health recovery.
All 3 proved to be too much, so re-introduce 1 first and health recovery looks to be simpler one of the 3. Re-intorducing health recovery within DS also fixes a lot of issues the mechanic presents in a party setting.Like Drarnor said, first allow our self heals to work within DS and evaluate the result.
If we’re still lacking add some more, if that alone proves too much make it so only a % of healing works.ANet said they want to take balance in iterations, so, iterate.
At this point though, you are suggesting a straight buff, one that I strongly agree with, but suggest no trade off. Are you suggesting that DS gives nothing up in return?
Crossbow.
Allowing for a power build outside of the scope of the rifle.
Allowing for a power build with the shield or duel crossbows. I would love to be able to run shield and not have my MH weapon be so condition dependent.
Personally, I would like to see it refashioned in the manner of the charzooka. A time limited, mobile kit, in my opinion, would fit right in.
194 replies and no dev found here.
How many replies for a topic do they need to show up and say hello at least? U.UArenanet does not post in profession or balance forums. If you want to have a reply you have to open a thread about armor dyes or living story.
Yet they make videos about balance changes, and took reasonable feedback to reschedule them at your behest, as well as having adjust changes made on specific feed back.
Clearly comments such as this will spur them to make changes on your behalf.
Big servers just blob stack, there is no strategy other than who can gather the biggest blob and overwhelm everyone. Blob on all the areas so much that nobody can stop it. Rangers aren’t useless in wvw.. their pets are.
Thread title:
“Fix ranger pets in PvE already.”
I am guilty too. I got into someones off topic WvW tangent. Lets keep it on topic.
In the other hand…what are thiefs weak against.
AoE
(looks left)………………..(looks right)……………….(leans in)………………. : whispers in a hushed tone : ………………..Reveal
You the problem is, once you make a thread dedicated to one profession specifically against another in a game specifically not design for one on one, you don’t have the most solid base of support.
(edited by dancingmonkey.4902)
can’t understand if you don’t want to see things in front of you or if it’s just laziness..
anyway here some points for you and the “watching” devs:
Umm, I am well aware of the issues. No need for the personal attacks simply because I suggest actually listing specific changes in the “balance” sub forums, instead of making blanket “this needs changed” style statements.
Be part of the solution and not the problem. “whaaaa, whaaaa, fix this now or I no play moar……………….” does not aid in solving the problem, because if you are unhappy with the fix, you complain further. If you like, I can list some necro changes that you have personally complained about after they were changed, to see my point.
Calling someone “lazy” for offering sound advice doesn’t help. Particularly when bellowing complaints while avoiding putting any effort in listing solutions is infinitely lazier.
Similarly to posters claiming that devs do or do not play certain professions. You might as well be spamming post in which your literally begging to be ignored, when you make uninformed claims and proof-less accusations. I mean they have made multiple post notifying folks how they immediately discount post and entire threads when they are unreasonably bashed in such a way.
You guys take action in a manner that completely contradicts your own best interest. Then actually feel like the correct coarse of action is to bash anyone offering communication advise or by making back handed insults and fact-less accusations in the direction of those who put in the actual labor to make the changes.
(edited by dancingmonkey.4902)
In my opinion, once your making threads complaining about how one specific profession will have an advantage over you, you have kind of really started grasping at straws.
Just ask engineers about fighting necros (engies have the least congi removal)
Just as necros about fighting any build with CC (no vigor, stability, and long cool downs on stun breakers)
Just asked thieves about being revealed by rangers and soon to be engineers
Just ask guardian about fighting poison spam builds (they have low HP base, and are designed to make that up with consistent heals)
Step 1 would be to allow the self-heal traits necros already have to work while in death shroud. Anything else can be re-evaluated and considered after that. May turn out that we really don’t need much more than that.
I completely agree. I stated this is previous threads. In my opinion, there is no reason that any profession should become immune to its own trait point investment.
the necromancer community has proposed plenty of possibile reworks and needed changes..
just go there and and bring some devs with you for a tour
I think your missing the point. My point is that if certain Anet folks have to go hunt down what you really mean, based on obscure statements you make here, you do yourself no favors. Also, I personally, feel anytime you “claim” something “needs” to be reworked and refuse to share how, your being counter productive.
I mean that the necromancer has only build conditions as … something very depressing for pvp at high levels. I have many ideas, especially for weapons and traits, unfortunately the speech is long and I would advise not using google translator clearly.
Ahh, but that is not the case. I know a solid few who run very solid power builds. I do so myself.
I can see how language barrier issues can be problematic.
I guess what they say about T1 servers doing nothin but PvD and spamming 1 is true.
Yup, you found us out.
The water field is the longest, sure. It’s also stationairy.
Umm, riiight. So can you link me to the mobile water fields?
Survivability is a joke. Rangers are trained down in seconds. This is why no GvG will take them. This is why they’re outside of the GWEN.
You like to talk a lot about matter that you know nothing about don’t you? The organized gw2 GvG site has roster for many of the top GvG groups. 3 of the top 5 have rangers. Where do you get your information?
What difference does GWEN make when all we do is PVdoors and every other urban legend you claim the top tiers adhere too?
And spectacular skill sets for defending and assaulting? You mean a ranged weapon?
Nope. The fact that you do not know the answer to this explains a lot about your post.
If you continue having difficulty, PM me in game. I would gladly hang out with you for a while and give you some pointers.
Perfect analysis
The necromancer need to build a power valid. Many weapons should be completely rebuilt.
What weapons?
How would you rebuild them?
What is a power valid? Do you refer to valid power build? If so, there are a few.
Unless you answer those two question, “claiming” they need rebuilt comes off as nothing more them aimless complaining with no actual direction. I am not disagree or even agreeing with you for that matter, I am simply suggesting to you what I feel Anet reads out of it.
…
sleuth of problems
…hehehe, I’m going to use that. Totally worth reading the wall-o-text for.
I do agree that DS is poorly designed and needs a major rework also.
How would you suggest reworking it?
At this point I dont care if giving necro mobility is not what Anet wants, its what we need as a class and there are ways to do it so it doesnt make the class OP.
They increases the base swiftness duration of Locust Swarm by 50%. Which with Banshee’s Wail, and you will have access to 100% swiftness up time.
This is the only swiftness skill in the game which actually slows you down in PvE, WvW and PvP by proccing off random things/mobs.
No, no it isn’t.
To answer your question, my point was that I feel your mistaken in suggesting that flame turret does as much DPS as flesh golem.
Not to mention I fail to see the logic in claiming an immobilized turret has no counter play. Personally, I kind of felt that walking away from the turret was fairly solid counter play. Destroying it works reasonably well also.
I have no problem with the majority of the damage being through the over charge, but that causes a lose of some of the utility design. You have demanded they change them, but offer no actual solution as how to go about it. With out a reasonable alternative to discuss, it is a little difficult to get behind the idea. Similarly to how you were so adamant that they reschedule the necromancer skill bar to allow discussion. It seems somewhat one sided that you demand time for discussion on your main, but demand changes to professions that are not your main, and refuse to offer discussion.
You admitted yourself that you do not use some of the skills that you are claiming are so “awful”. As well as definitively claiming they are awful and need changes. I personally feel they could use some changes, but I do not agree with your thoughts on the matter.
(edited by dancingmonkey.4902)
Personally I find it works for tower defense in some cases. As for small scale things, the enemy simply moves out of range.
You must be new. It doesn’t matter what we think, it won’t happen.
It does matter what we think. What doesn’t matter is when people introduce horrible ideas that punish everyone but them. Why should I be balanced away from my friends because others do not have any friends playing with them?
It becomes comical to read at times, when people make back handed comments trying to imply they are ignored, simply because they do not implement their bad ideas.
Some of you are making blind assumptions and using that to make blind accusations. Just saying.
In some cases thought, a lot of the players/guilds that play many hours a week in WvW take the week or two off so they are not burnt out when they hit WvW hard during seasons.
OK, so while we were awaiting the Hype,Known as Guild Wars 2. It was said the game will be released when it’s Finished! Two years later I get the impression it’s still not finished! All this “feature” crap should have been in the game from the start.
Good thing you do not run the show. They sold 3+ million copies until the China release and they sold 3+ million more there. I am going to say they have done fairly well for themselves. Not to mention, I have a lot of enjoyment in the game. Judging by your negative tone, if they followed the path you want, they would be closing the servers. But that is just my opinion.
Have you tried facebook? I am sure they have plenty of games right up your alley. They never add features to those.
(edited by dancingmonkey.4902)
I stopped playing GW2 over a year ago and am curious what the current state of things is now… particularly for my Ranger and Mesmer for PvE (dungeons, fractals, etc.)
There is a big balance patch coming up next Tuesday. It has some interesting changes for both those professions.
I logged in this past weekend and talked to a few and it seems like high level fractal groups still just want Warriors/Guardians, speed runs want Warriors, and generally one Mesmer can make it into either.
A good rule is to do what you can to avoid PUG anyway. Run with friends, associates, and guild mates. When you open yourself up to the general masses, you chances of meeting the “class snobs” increases exponentially.
I see that there is an upcoming patch soon that will nerf Warrior GSword, Buff Mesmer Scepter, and Buff Ranger Axe & LBow.
It will change a good many things. I suspect a great deal of smaller changes that we havn’t been informed of will add up to influence the changes a fair bit as well.
I’m curious because I was able to successfully run high level fractals and various dungeon speed runs on both my Mesmer and Ranger back in the day … but I had a guild then that was happy with me because they knew me as a player. Even back then, without them I would’ve had a much worse time because of the PvE meta apparently disliking Rangers and only ever wanting 1 Mesmer (at most) per group.
That tends to be the case in all MMOs in my experience. Forget the word “meta”. It is a trumped up term in my opinion for either greedy players who put possessions ahead of all else, and judge their fun with their items, or players who care to much about what everyone says you should play. I suggest going with what is fun for you and with people you have fun with.
So what are your perceptions of the current state of these classes?
Thanks ahead of time.
I cannot speak for the PvE perception to be honest. I tend to ignore the mob mentality and play what feels fun and feels like it works with what I am trying to do with the groups or guildies and friends I run with. My personal perception is that “professions” themselves are not nearly as relevant as the builds are. Every profession is very playable and its value lies in what direction you build it to go.
making them easily read is going to simply toss them in the trash.
To be honest. They are easy to read now. I mean the SD bolt doesn’t move any faster then grenades and is slower then any ranger or warrior arrow. They have a solid visual, with plenty of time to counter with a dodge, block, invuln, and what not, as it is in my opinion.
But in short: reduce the passive AA strength, Flame Turret for example does comparable DPS to Flesh Golem, while being a utility instead of an elite, and then make the active strong and so you have to actually think about when to use it, Rifle Turret for example is just a “press on CD” active, there is absolutely no reason to time it except not activating it right as someone pops a defensive CD.
So you prefer it does smoke screen for its times attack and damage for the over charge? Due to the fact that the over charge does zero damage and Flesh golems “charge” does channel damage + final strike and its basic attack has more damage. Your going to have to justify how you are suggesting they do comparable damage, because I just don’t see it.
Nor does it have native crowd control.
By the way can we make turrets mobile like necro minions since you feel they are so comparable?
It happens to skills like rocket boots, rush, and swoop as well. Where it locks you in place at the end of the animation, and you have to do various tricks to get free. All of which negate the use and purpose of the skill entirely.
Yup. Your right. I was confusing package stimulants with always prepared. My apologies.
That doesn’t change the fact that your assessment is abysmal as I see it. Even suggesting that SD doesn’t have counter play it just poorly thought out in my opinion. It is as easy to see coming as grenades.
Spiking a CCed player is not “stupid” as you so intelligently coined it. Setting up a combo to burst players take a bit of effort at times. Not to mention that crying about being burst by a glass cannon build is just baffling. It is just mind boggling to see someone crying about a glass cannon build with no HP or toughness being able to do damage.
I think a rework of turrets so that their actives are meaningful and timed well-used activation of their active skills are necessary for success would be better than just nerfing them. Also conditions should affect them, even if it isn’t 100%.
In fact I think all true AI (read: not banners/spirits) need to have their damage and utility pushed heavily onto their actives. An AI build should have to interact with their summoned peons to have success, this means having to use their actives well, and doing things like using CC to set up the minion actives, or using the minion actives to set up for your own damage. Ex: shatter mesmers.
What way would you suggest they be reworked? That is a bit too broad a term to just suggest it and leave it at that.
Personally, I feel if you are going to make a suggest of that nature, you should offer an idea how each one should work.
One thing I see these forums are horrible about, is posters demand something gets changed, and make the same demand repeatedly. Anet makes a change. Forums blows up complaining and insulting them for their changes. When all they did was exactly what the posters asked for.
*Golem portals, portal bombs, time warps and null fields are priceless in WvW. If you were looking for combat viability, try a high clone generation build. ANY of them for that matter, you don’t just have to be PU to be good in WvW. A well placed null field can be the difference between life and death btw. Again, do you even WvW?
Portal in general are great for many many things, and one of the most underestimated skills around in my opinion.
Null field, in my opinion is the single most underestimated skill in any WvW experience, hands down.
Portal bomb is strongly unrecommended since clipping/latency servers correction.
This is the case for at least one year…pleased to keep you up to date.Time warp nerfed by 50% with no duration compensation (contrary to other professions also nerged on celerity (thieves and warriors)). Not major impact on never ending moving hammer trains.
Same on null field wich removes a marvelous amount of … 1 boon on 5 man per sec. Crazy game breaking op skill. You can go through it without loosing anything if you go between 2 pulses.High clone generation…in wvw..ok I start understanding…you have no idea of what is wvw. You should understand that not everyone like to play only roaming. some appreciate participating on large figjts (original purpose of wvw)
I never said anything about portals……….pleased to keep you up to date.
I simply said I feel portal is an underestimated skill in general. I know that the post I quoted mentioned “portal bombing”, but that was not what I was referencing in my statement.
The fact that time warp was nerfed a good while ago does not change the fact that it is a good skill.
They are already nerfing turrets CC ability. Engineers have the least condition cleanse in the game. Turrets are very easily destroyed. I would think the upcoming nerf to them is enough for now, no need to ask for more.
at all?
Considering it is the one passive agressive defensive boon that some professions have access to.
I mean if you see someone with retal does it stop you from attacking?Just curious because with the recent changes i feel retaliatio was nerfed in the wrong way.
It scares engineers who use grenades. It destroys them when they use the FT auto attack or EG’s fumigate.
Notice Packaged Stimulants isn’t mentioned either?
Hmm, like how he covered it at 21:20 in the video, and explained the changes about it ?
As well elixir H is changing., They specifically stated that how each and every elixir functions, will change.
Elixir H isn’t changing. No matter how much you want it to, they did not mention Elixir H.
http://dulfy.net/2014/07/25/gw2-upcoming-changes-to-engineer-and-ranger/
Notice Packaged Stimulants isn’t mentioned either?
What The Gates Assassin wants-
I want counterplay. I want every build to be skillful.
As I said. They stated very specifically in the video that the functionality of every elixir and how they worked as a whole, will be changing next Tuesday.
try learning something for yourself, instead of twisting Dulphy’s write up to support your mis information my friend. It will serve everyone well, including yourself.
Med Kit is changing slightly. Packaged Stimulants and Elixir H are not changing.
Stop posting about matters that you are not familiar with please. Your spreading mis information.
The specifically stated in the engineer skill bar that skills on the med kit are changing and went over 2 of those specifically. As well elixir H is changing., They specifically stated that how each and every elixir functions, will change.
What most players want – skills adjusted for more builds
What The Gates Assassin wants-
(edited by dancingmonkey.4902)
There is nothing more annoying in this game than fighting 1v2, getting one of your opponents downed, and then being unable to do jack kitten while the other casually rezzes his friend and there’s not a kitten thing you can do other than AOE and hope for the best.
On the other hand, that is probably the point of the system: Enforce the effect of numerical superiority.
Usually in MMOs this isn’t immediately obvious because players die “too” fast. Same in GW2, you can get downed really really fast in most situations. To counteract that, the downed system allows the team with the numerical advantage to recover their injured from the surprise attack.
That is pretty much the opposite of what a well-designed game should be aiming for. A smaller, more skilful force should always be able to overcome a larger, disorganised force. DS in this respect is very much an anti-skill feature.
This seems like a load of cow patties to me.
If the down state is keeping what you are claiming as a “more skilled” force from winning a battle, then you are not as skilled as you think you are.
Perhaps it would help if you actually played other professions. Your complaint about the amount of conditions that can be applied in one skill with the right traits, runes, and sigils, is a sure sign that you do not have the scope of knowledge or experience of the other professions, and the game as a whole, to breach the subject.
Transmute is a 15s cool down version of a trait every profession in the game has that is on a 10s cool down. Theirs just removes it, ours converts it. Ours also has a 50% longer cool down. Your complaint here seems very irrational to me.
Packaged stimulants and elixir H are both changing in the update next Tuesday. They released a video explaining how they will change. To me it seems very poorly thought out and unreasonable to complain about skills that are already changing.
For me, personally, I felt your statements as a whole, display a very limited comprehension of the profession and its goals, as well as its thematic concepts. Perhaps some experience with this profession, and perhaps some others would do you good.
