I mostly miss bomb radius, med kit not being ground targeting, and some of the great defensive traits like -20% damage when hard CCed.
As far as WvW is concerned, necros needed no buffs. Marks and wells were already a hot commodity.
I disagree with most of what the OP says. My experience suggests that Hammer and tank trains are still alive and well.
Boon stripping still works great, and now there is less immunity to CC, giving it value and allowing other professions a little room to fit and find value in a large force.
Yup, I am a bomb kit fan myself and have used it for years, now it feels under powered and undervalued.
Perhaps they need to fold the lower populated servers into the next tier in order to make the new BLs feel more populated?
WvW isn’t any fun when there’s no one to fight against. They absolutely have to do something about this issue, and the only real solution I can think of is a set of server merges. Lowering the pop cap isn’t really going to fix anything as there are already a large number of servers that don’t fill more than one BL. Even T2 only fills one or two most nights, and won’t fill any in offhours TZ’s.
The thing is, there is no reason to take action just yet. It makes much more sense to me, to wait until after the expansion, before doing anything. New or returning players could possibly change the population a great deal on certain servers, or even all of them. Why compress the server numbers when it is logical to assume there will be a large injection of players?
Wow, there are some really terrible suggestions in this thread.
So many of these ideas would make it unreasonably difficult to play with friends or guildies. It is as if some of you prefer to destroy communities for personal convienances.
Not to mention one of the fact less accusatory assumptions here.
They have never emphasized defensive aspects of the game other then dodges. Now that damage out put is increased with the last patch, it is worse. We lost some with the changes of all stats to gear. As well, we lost multiple defensive traits.
The OP seems to speak out of a pure lack of knowledge. Wow is a descendent of EQ, so this inaccurate ideology thay WoW was the first big MMO is wrong to start with. As well, there have been multiple MMOS that have sold millions of copies since WoW.
It is actually a little embarrassing, how many inaccuracies the OP presents.
It acts in that manner when you use nontargeting tool belt skills. Targeting ones should go right to the target with SD as well.
As new as all of the changes are, That is not entirely reasonable of a demand, not to mention, the you ask it with some implication that I owe something to you. Not entirely certain why you are so abrasive to anyone with differing views in this case, but to each thier own I guess.
One could ask you to prove that “everyone uses AMR by default”, since your making that claim.
Anyway, I was very clear to state that I was refering to outside WvW. I can easily show you thriving builds and a few T1, engineer commanders, who are extremely successful. The traits are not exclusive to PvP, nor is this discussion, that I am aware of.
You need better friends and a better guild. As well, you may be kicked of teams, but who is the “we” you claim are getting kicked off teams?
I find most enjoy my might stacks, turrets cleanses and water fields and blast, my vulnerability stacking, my mortar fields, and my AoE damage.
It seems you and I have had very different experiences, yet you say “we”?
I do find it interesting that you feel you determine who is or is not credible. Decreeing whose opinions are valid isn’t particularly constructive to the conversation in my opinion. Particularly when there is reasonable logic behind shield users, utilizing the shield trait.
For clarification, are you speaking strictly in terms of PvP? Lif you are suggesting it is a popular trait in that respect, then sure, it may be popular, but given its current cool down, and the popularity of P/S, I hardly find declaring it as used by everyone, to be a reasonable statement, particularly in WvW.
You can report siege troller, and it may take time, but they will eventually do something g about it. With new players, send them a whisper, and suggest to them to mail siege to the commander, so they may place it. You may even need to offer a polite explaination to assist in educating them of the reasoning and benefits of doing so.
The same could be said of Inventions. There’s a reason why pretty much every build with Inventions runs AMR, Mecha Legs, and Bunder Down. I think you’re greatly inflating how good Invention is just in the same way you’re greatly inflating the problems Explosives has. Aside from a couple bad traits, there’s good reason to pick 7 of the 9 traits available in the tree depending on your utilities.
Personally, I do not think you know what your talking about when you try to imply that everyone uses AMR when using this trait line. My experience and conversations with other players suggest few use it.
I see Over shield used by everyone I have discussed it with who run P/S, in almost every case I have encountered. I am curious as to how you support your claim to know what the expanded player base uses and why? Such claims without any evidence to prove it, only serve to misguide and misinform any new players or anyone looking to learn or understand their options since the changes.

Well of darkness is on 2s pulse intervals.
In my experience, walls tend to have a bit of a different functionality based on intent of their use, as do conal fields and effects, in comparison to the circular fields, that are intended for different functionalities.
The wiki notes the 2 second pulse as a bug up until this patch. It notes no other pulses as bugs. The community believed it was a bug up until this patch.
The community did? Or did one player who added that to the wiki cause the community to think that?

I am confused. What does a guild hall arena, have to do with WvW? This is a WvW sub forum that this unrelated thread was made in, right?
never once in all my roaming have i been jumped by thieves that i did not see on my screen. are you telling me that you roam blind and deaf, so you cant see them pop shadow refuge or hear them blast the smoke field? sorry but just no. unless you are day dreaming and did not see any red names in the far distance then there is no reason for thieves to randomly pop stealth unless they see an enemy too which in that case you see them too – then they will stealth up, you should respond to that, not blindly carry on foreword or what ever you do.
Which tier are you on?
Also I think you’re outright lying/exaggerating, or not roam enough to claim you never get jumped by thieves before. I even roll my screen to the farthest all the time, and still occasionally get jumped by thief/thieves from behind because they can gap close you out from screen on your left, right and backs side of screen within 0.5 second.Where did he say he has never been jumped by thieves before? I mean you quoted his post and still went and disingenuously put words in his mouth he did not say.
“never once in all my roaming have i been jumped by thieves that i did not see on my screen. are you telling me that you roam blind and deaf, so you cant see them pop shadow refuge or hear them blast the smoke field?”
Learn to Read?
Are you suggesting I cannot read, because I didn’t chose to ignore the same qualifiers you ignored? That doesn’t strike me as very logical, but to each their own I guess.
Not only can I read, I can speak braille in 7 different languages.
He specifically stated that
" never once in all my roaming have i been jumped by thieves that i did not see on my screen. "
Are you claiming thieves cannot be seen on screens now?
Aware players will generally see them coming. Stealth has a duration limit. If you not aware of your surrounding, that does not mean you can assume everyone else is not as well. Once they hit you once, they lose stealth. At that point all stealth did was gem them the opening attack. Aware players with then counter in some way, At one of those two points in the encounter, you will have seen the thief. Other wise their is a problem, such as having out dated PC equipment that misses graphics it should have displayed, poor game play on your part, a simple lack of awareness, or a failure to react.

problems tend to happen when programming. you have NO IDEA how many issues we would face without EXTENSIVE QA testing they do internally. Trust me you don’t know the half of it.
Don’t know what’s worse, if they have “EXTENSIVE QA testing” and this “minor bug” still escaped them or if they just don’t have “EXTENSIVE QA testing”.
I mean.. they didn’t test the minor use-case of entering/playing WvW, otherwise they would notice something is wrong..
The problem is, you can test it all you like. Things can go perfect. When you go live, things occur that never remotely came close to flagging as issues in testing.

Yes but in other games when they release a patch that is this broken they do a rollback until they can fix it.
You mean sometimes in some other games they do this, or attempt to do it. Other times, the roll backs make it worse. other times still, the roll backs cause servers to crash for extended periods of time.
problems tend to happen when programming. you have NO IDEA how many issues we would face without EXTENSIVE QA testing they do internally. Trust me you don’t know the half of it.
Extensive QA? Really? I have never seen so many bugs in any top game ever. This is embarresing to say the least. It’s almost amateur like.
You either chose to remember selectively, or have played very very few games then.
Or perhaps I played good ones…?
By all means, list some games you are disingenuously claiming never had bugs during updates. It will be fun. I can prove you wrong in every case, likely demonstrating proof for game breaking bugs in each case. Then we can all have a good laugh.
I get it. There is a legitimate reason to be upset. By all means, post complaints. What you should not do is post about games you are not completely knowledgeable about, out of touch with, disingenuous about, remember to be better then it really was, or just plain lie about.

HAHAHAHAHAH at you saying a d/d ele or staff will lose to a gs/hammer. The only players a gs/hammer can kill are the bad ones. That gs build only has a small degree of success because most wvw players have no idea what they are doing.
Any of the builds I listed is capable to win or at least stale a fight forever against a gs/hammer.
GS 5 is highly telegraphed and easy to avoid even on melee range. GS 2 is the easiest skill to avoid in the game. The only thing GS is good for is to run away….Trying to immobilize an ele that runs -40% food and hoelbrak(-20%) and is one of the classes with the most condi clears in the game hahahaha.Lol, your movement impairment doesn’t work on Warrior too, they have more innate traits for it than ele. They have more mobility than you that’s for sure. Staff ele lol…. That type of Warrior hits harder than you against single target, and they run faster than you too. And their selling point is excellent chasing ability, CC, and burst. Condition is just to keep people in place from running away, but for staff ele it’s not even needed.
One last note, my power build never have any trouble against staff ele in dueling, but find GS/Hammer 10 times tougher than most eles. Not sure if we’re playing same game or not, or you’re living in your LaLa land. Maybe you’re imagining those WvW players standing in that invisible circle that they can’t run out from your Meteor Shower or Lava Font like in conquest.
Lol, no eles are far more mobile then warriors. The mobility fiery greatsword gives is only matched by thieves.
FGS is mainly used for running away, not fighting lol. I have yet to see an Ele pop FGS to fight me, not running away in WvW. Also that cooldown XD.
You really start losing credibility when you try to tell others how they use their skills. Simply because you mainly use your FGS to run away, does not define that as how all other players focus its use.
You also mention not staying in an AoE field. Well, how are you going to damage a enemy with no ranged option, when they just swap attunements in a cycle and maintain a consistent AoE at their current location?
Look, anyone can beat a GS/H build, and a GS/H build can beat any other profession. It all depends on the skill level, builds, and play styles of the opponents. You on the other hand, appear to argue as if an ele in general could not defeat a GS/H warrior, and that is just unreasonable in my opinion.
So that Dudi guy who argues that GS/H sucks is more objective? I didn’t mention Ele suck at all, just saying dueling-wise GS/H can beat them because of this and that, while that Dudi guy clearly stated “these builds can easily pwn GS/H with ease because GS/H sucks”
For FGS, I also didn’t mention FGS can only used to run away, I clearly stated “I have yet to see any Ele that fights me use FGS to fight me, not running away in WvW”, meaning almost all eles I encountered pop FGS to try to run away from me.
Are you being hypocritical or something? Ele favoritism ?
He is entitled to his opinion. I do not agree with a fair bit of it. He also did not go as far as to suggest how those with an opposing opinion in this thread can or do use specific skills.
You example that here, by going directly to back handed accusations. By all means, explain how I am being hypocritical. Ele favoritism? I thought I was pretty clearly unbiased in my statement here………………
Look, anyone can beat a GS/H build, and a GS/H build can beat any other profession. It all depends on the skill level, builds, and play styles of the opponents.
Where am I displaying ele favoritism?
Do not confuse the idea that I spoke out against you suggesting how others play, as a bias towards one profession or another. I was pretty clear that I feel play style, build specifics, and player skill were the deciding factors in my opinion.

You believe pulls are easy to avoid is zerg fights? Or that tool kit bkock, shield block, and the shield reflect won’t counter ranged projectiles?
Why do you assume grenades would be thrown at backline rangers? The are spammed at the frontline blob.
Your entire counter to that argument appears to be based on some random 1v1 situation and not the actual fray of two large forces colliding with particle effects going off everwhere.
You say anything the engie does is not OP in WvW. I that is the point. Neither is anything a ranger does. Yet, here is a thread of players note wisely using their dodges, trying to declare everything a ranger does is OP.
(edited by dancingmonkey.4902)
It seems to me, the complaint is that someone was possibly picked off by a group of 5 rangers and a mesmer giving them a time warp? So possibly 6 players focus fire you and you cry OP? Doesn’t sound like a particularly reasonable complaint at all, to me.
I feel the questions the OP presents are illinformed.
The meta tends to be players copying the builds of the best players. The vast majority of players hamper their team by using builds designed around players with the highest skill level, fastest reflexes, and in depth understanding of the skills, while having no where near thay skill level and understanding.Building around your skill level, reflexes, and understanding, can be much more benificial then just blindly using build you see the top level use.
We’ve been asking for this ad nausium since the wardrobe patch. Threads had hundreds of replies. There were no dev responses on this subject then, and I doubt there will be any now.
Yeah, actually there were multiple dev replies on this when it was pushed at the topic. I am not entirely sure what your motive is here, but your dishonesty is not appreciated.
Boons are fine.
A lot of boon traits are leaving or merging with HoT. Most skills that give boons have low boon duration on longer cool downs.
Have map caps been lowered again? I swear maps are being queued far more easily than a week or 2 ago.
Could be that players are trickling back in to the game with all of the HoT news out there.
Especially after word got out of a WvW stress test coming up.
Okay. You mean it in the context of free transfer’s. I didn’t catch that part earlier. I doubt it would do much, but eh, I guess it couldn’t hurt.
Why did I main a Ranger again? Guardians get a better version of them now. Seriously, a big game hunter class? Time to reroll.
Guardians are, or Dragonhunters are? Perhaps Druids will be better rangers then Dragonhunters though.
That is unfair to the players who legitimately enjoy playing in different tiers on different accounts.
What really needs to happen, is an investment in man power to respond to the reporting function and smite actual trolls.
How about Minions that are robots that fight by our side?
We call them turrets.

Now that I have read that post. It reinforces that their reasoning seems sound to me, that that everyone complaining about the name is entitled to their opinion, but offers no better or worse justification for any other name
Seems to me like an acute case of posters incorrectly believing their subjective opinions are actually objective fact. Kind of sad really.
My stance:
I’ll still play dragon hunter, if they keep the name. Doesn’t change the fact however, that I cringe everytime, when i think about it. As a consumer, my feedback is to some value. And it looks like, its not just a couple people, who find it weird. That makes it a valid criticism!
No one is suggesting your feedback doesn’t have value. Though I would suggest that those who state their opinion as if it were definitive fact, and make demands based on nothing more then their opinion are absolutely confusing their subjective opinion with that of objective fact.
Such methods of posting with that implication, remove the “constructive” value of any feedback and removing the value of their criticism.
“finding something weird” with it, does not prove it to be weird, or actually define it factually as weird. That is simply an opinion. The problem is many here demand, declare, or state definitively, that an arbitrary name is wrong because of their incorrectly stated opinion.

I fail to see how ‘Chronomancer’ fits in this ‘Jungle Theme’.
Why do elite specializations have to have anything to do with the jungle?
I was under the impression the only thing they said was jungle themed was the masteries?
(edited by dancingmonkey.4902)
The tournaments are pointless and are terrible for server balance. Every tournament we have had has led to bandwagoning on a select few servers and completely lopsided match-ups.
Lock transfers a week or two before tournament announcement. Problem solved.
Seems to me like a real bad idea. All that does is punish players who took time off. If a guild, or friends of players transferred, and players come back from a break because they hear there is a tournament, then they cannot move to catch up with their friends.
Just because a player with no factual justification declares tournaments as “terrible” and “pointless”, doesn’t make it true. It simply means they confuse their subjective opinion with objective fact.

Besides that ANets thought process on the name does not make sense, it also doesn’t match the concept they gave at reveal. The dragonhunter is supposed to be tyria’s version of a witch hunter according to their explanation, but then apparently not according to “a ferocious big-game hunter that specializes in ranged combat and back-line support” which sells it as a monster hunter.
Where does there explanation say that about “witch hunter”?

WvW servers should not be connected to PvE server selection in any way. i see no reason for PvE to even have a server selection when megaservers etc have made it redundant.
WvW servers are not connected to PvE. So it isn’t a problem. PvE does not have a server selection screen, so I have no idea what you mean with that statement. Although it is a fact that some players PvE, PvP, and WvW, others stick to one. Still others play two out of the three. Some will eventually try some of the others.
WvW is the only place where you really need to pick a server to represent and then put it’s own cap on that to create a much more even spread of players amongst the WvW servers, and before the PvE guys complain about not being to get WvW rewards they can do a soft represent or “support X server” without actually being an active WvW player, by this i mean instead of represent in WvW on the field they can support the server they like and transfering support should cost half the amount it costs to physically transfer WvW server you fight for.
Okay, and what about players who regularly play both? As far as I can tell, your making irrational assumptions by working under the context that every player that steps foot in PvE or WvW sticks exclusively to that game mode only. That is not a informed way to view this, in my opinion.
There i just fixed WvW population and queues.
Shame Anet didn’t think of this a few years ago.
If by “fixed”, you mean you made many assumptions, and prejudgments of players, by implying they stick exclusively to one game mode only, when there is absolutely no evidence of that, then sure. None of that solves any problems in any way what so ever.
And while we’re at it, reset the glicko, too! Lets have a full reset! That would be so much fun. A battle to the top
(LOL, Just saw what you said Trajan :P <3 )
Explain what you mean there?
How would that place servers to initiate this? Would it potentially place T1 servers against lower tiers? Making all the matches horrible for everyone for weeks until the tiers settle out in the scoring system?
1- No reason to strip him naked (the act of a child).
2- No reason to make the char jump to it’s death (the act of the same child who thinks he’s cool).
3- No reason to show us the character being deleted. The fact he said “oh yeah and we banned him” seemed like an after tought that was never his original intention.
Good job on making yourself seem like a childish human being when you should be acting like an adult without even a word of him being banned, the fact he has gone is enough, we don’t need to know what you did.
This just proves my point that Anet really have no respect for it’s player base in it’s behaviour towards the good and the bad.
Wait. Your defending the hacker?
Now your portraying the hacker as the good guy here and the dev who banned the account is the bas guy?
Did you even read the post he linked?
Could you white-knight any harder if you tried?
When ANet themselves say “yes, we did this” and you still say “nope, no evidence”, who are you even arguing for any more?
Please by all means, quote that fact in a dev post.
All any dev post I am seeing has, is a video of that happening to a character. The only thing they actually say is:
“Here is a video of before the account was banned, and yes we banned this and other accounts”
At no point do I see them officially stating the are the ones controlling another players account to make the video.

Not sure why you list ranger and no trait. Did I misword something? I could have swore I asked about “adept tier traits” specifically.
So we have 4 of 8 (about to be 9) professions that we know, have 25% speed increase traits at the adept tier?
Elementalist requires a very specific weapons set of dagger/dagger only, for that trait to reach 25%. As well, warriors only functons with specific weapon sets designed for melee. No idea why you listed ranger at all. No one asked about signets, nor did you make the thread about signets, so it is beyond me why you are derailing your own thread.
So we have 2 out of 8 (about to be 9) professions with unconditional traits and 2 more out of 8 (about to be 9) that require very specific weapons sets.
I hardly call 4 out of 8(about to be 9) “most”. Particularly given that 2 of those 4, are conditional to very specific weapons being active in the build.
Which other professions have a 25% movement speed trait assigned an adept trait?
How is this ruined in any sense??? They have done server rehash in the past and they can do it again.
By punishing players for returning from a break by having servers overstocked. By punishing players for having taken a break in the first place.
Can you post proof of your claim? Your claiming they rehashed servers in the manner stated? Where the intentionally refused to count accounts on a server, toward its population? Vy all means share some evidence of that please.
For that matter, you have yet to offer any evidence about how they calculate populations, but you have made multiple claims about it.
My prediction on upcoming Elite Specs!

Hammer, bomb kit, tool kit are not ranged
Grenades are getting range cut to 900.
Rifle only has 1 attack, the auto attack that is ranged.
They are melee to medium range, by far more then they are at long ranged.
Hammer is the reason you’ll be in melee in the first place, and who wants to use bomb and tool kits to replace that Hammer weapon you are getting?
Also, shouts aren’t just for you, they are for all the other melee that are on the boss as well that your shouts will reach to, now that you’ll be in melee a ton.
Yeah, I misunderstood that previous post.
You meant to compliment what they will have as far as melee range with what they will have weapon skill wise in the future. I originally misread that as you meaning they will have no melee range attacks.
I mentioned in another post as well, that I felt like shouts seemed to go with hammer in my opinion. So I feel we are on the same page.
Engineer specializes to warrior and then gets a hammer, which means more surviability, stability and possibly resistance. Drones are some kind of mobile banners.
Warrior specializes to engineer and gets pistol and explosives.
Nah it’s necro/war because GS+shouts+defiance bar=typical necro patch+lore. The drones are probably spirit weapons
.
Given the negative feedback most summons have, I find little evidence to support the concept of them giving engineers spirit weapons. As they have declared they are reworking turrets for HoT, it makes infinitely more sense to me that drones being seen are turrets.
Shouts seem to me to fit better with hammer then they would on a scholarly, cloth armor profession.
Yeah, the tournaments are great. In my experience, they bring a lot of people back to the game to participate. The WvW population revitalizes, and the servers seem fuller to me for some time after.
Personally, I think it would be a great thing to do to charge players up before an expansion.
ANET has made it clear that it intends to reconfigure the combat system to promote “skill based” play. Which is to say, play which is highly interactive with one’s target.
I think that this push is misguided and here’s why;
Using myself as an example. I’m a loyal player in my 3rd year in modern Tyria. The Gem Store has gotten more of my money than I’m willing to admit. Recently I’ve begun to focus on PvP.
I’m well north of 40 and have a partially disabled left hand. I bought a Razer Naga to help offset this but it’s taking a lot of training. My reaction speed is slower than many players’. To offset this; I am running cable internet and a gaming comp. Still, it’s very difficult for me to find and press the right button fast enough to make an interrupt for example.Until recently I played a Condi Clone death Mesmer ( not PU .) Now, an ANET dev has called this particular build “unhealthy.” He was apparently beaten by a clone death
Mesmer in PvP. That comment has led to a great deal of dislike for the build.ANET, I’m playing with some disadvantages. So, I used my head and made a build that was well suited to me. That is not a lack of skill. It is playing to a different style that suits me.
While I appreciate that many “competitive” players are teenage males with the concomitant hand to eye coordination and reflexes. Some of us are not.
Making classes more difficult to play serves no purpose other than to stroke the egos of a small percentage of players.
Another point to consider. I’m in the demographic that likely tends to be the most loyal and have the most money to spend on a game. When the “competitive” players get bored, they move on.
In summary, making the game harder to play for it’s own sake is senseless and may well drive away some of your desirable demographic.
Make hard to play classes if you will, but leave options for the people who don’t believe that playing an ultra complicated class shows our superiority.
I have some fingers left in a desert in the middle east from back in the 90s. I simply custom ordered a controller designed just for me. There are several companies that make items for players such as us.
I prefer to spend a couple of bucks to have something that works well for me to play all professions in all game modes. Rather then complaining that they do not cater to me as a minority and degrade everyone else’s experience.

Hammer, bomb kit, tool kit are not ranged
Grenades are getting range cut to 900.
Rifle only has 1 attack, the auto attack that is ranged.
They are melee to medium range, by far more then they are at long ranged.

They do not need babysitting of any kind in PvP.
Every subforum has as many or more threads claiming their profession as under powered and has as many threads demanding or suggesting changes.
If your going to claim the profession as “bad”, please explain that. Saying a subforum has a lot of complaints suggest nothing other then that it is precisely like every subforum.
