I dunno, but my 6 blast finishers, large amounts of converting conditions to boons with traited EG, 3 water fields, and AoE healing from turret, seems to be appreciated and requested.
I have noticed I get asked about it a lot, and I see more in my circles playing engineers and running it. Then again, I do not have a high opinion of folks who care about what is or is not meta. I feel like I contribute a lot. So much so that other notice.
Really? Who are these equivalent amount of people who have been cheering to keep hard ressing?
Someone declared a “mass amount”? I dunno how many, but I know I for one like it as it is.
It comes across as hypocritical to me that I can be focuses down by 5 rangers at a range that none of my skills can reach, to strike back, but when 5 of my guildies, friends, or random good guys revive me, you muddy the ground with tears.
Only tears if they are reviving from completely dead while they themselves are in combat.
Does your analogy still seem fair if it was 2 warriors fighting you and your 5 friends, and after killing and stomping you, 2 of your friends res you from dead to full health while the other 3 put pressure on them?
Seems fair to me, certainly. Thanks for asking.
Since this game isn’t built around the old MMO trope trinity, and I cannot have a friend in my group cast a resurrection spell, and it takes 2 out of the fight and scales a 5v2 down to a 3v2, it makes it even more balanced as I see it.
Odd example you offer though. in your example, 2 players gang up on a single player, but when it is the other way around, you complain.
That’s odd. We were talking about how surprised we were that we didn’t have any lag last night at all in NA T1. Even in some fairly large battles.
What I find somewhat odd, is how people complain about this issue, but actually do not want it fixed or solved. I mean, if you actually desired to solve it, you would give them the basic information that a dev has asked for each and every time someone complains about this issue.
That isn’t balance at all. That is redistribution of PvE mobs in WvW. Mobs that die quick and easy. It would have little to no effect.
Really? Who are these equivalent amount of people who have been cheering to keep hard ressing?

extra post for forums glitch
I will never understand why people hate conditions so much…
Passive play.
1. Apply condition
2. Kite
3. Enemy clears condition after x damageRepeat until 3. isn’t longer possible because enemy is through his condi clears.
I do not think passive play means what you think it means. You have to land a skill to apply conditions.. Precisely like you have to land a skill to apply direct damage.
It is a very simple concept.
Landing a skill/Taking a button press action = Applying Damage
I think part of the issue here, is a fundamental lack of understanding of how the game works.
Step 2 makes no sense in a direct damage scenario, because it does not benefit damage output in melee situations. Condition damage however, still hits the enemy regardless of application.
No, condition damage does continue hit the enemy.
Direct damage attack lands and does 5000 damage instantly.
Condition application skill lands, does 1000 damage per second for 5 seconds. That’s 5000 damage over 5s.
It is true that you need to apply it once. But after you have done that (and your condi has a sufficient duration), it requires no further action of the player.
Example given: trap ranger. He drops his traps, waits till you walk in them and then all he has to do is wait till you drop dead. It requires no further activity on the trap ranger’s end. Of course usually you have at least 1 or 2 condi clears, but once you’re through these, it’s simply a waiting game.
If you die from ranger traps alone, it is a L2P issue. If your a poor enough player that you continually stand in a red circle damage field long enough to reapply conditions. Very bad game play is not a reasonable argument for nerfing anything.
If your build is poor enough that you cannot cleanse, and traps alone kill you because you have zero vitality, and no traits to cleanse or cleansing skills, your playing a poor build. Running a poor build is not a reasonable argument for nerfing anything.
Yeah it was bad enough that we got down graded from elixir infused bombs to bunker down, can we get our range normalized to what they said we would get in the video please?
I can guarantee you that hammer will be pure melee with some mobility.
So, your making a guarantee about a claim based on absolutely no information, evidence, or facts? How does that work?
Power builds are more active, for the most part you have to hit something to do the damage. Condi builds need to land the initial hit to apply but can then afk and still do damage: see mesmer staff and mesmer/necro sceptre in particular.
How are power builds more active? I thought you were going to offer an explanation? Yet you only offer subjective opinions. Are you claiming that direct damage skills do less over all damage then an equivalent condition damage skill? If so, isn’t that a bit of a waste of typing time, unless you offer some skills damage comparisons, or some other actual facts to support what your stating?
You seem irked by the comment and I sense you want to get into pedantics so perhaps instead of me explaining the merits of power vs condi jump into pvp on a power build for your chosen class and spend some time with it.
I seem irked? What do you base that on? I was eating a slice of pizza, washing it down wit ha good brew, and laughing a bit at a good movie when I typed up my reply. Should I take how you were miles off on your assessment of my mood as a sign of your judgment as I read your post?
Why would I jump into PvP on a power build in any class, in order to participate in a WvW discussion?
condi’s are a part of the game. However, they have a much lower skill floor (see: WTS builds) than most power builds and in time most condi users will come to see this.
Would you mind hashing that out? I never understood this mentality, but I see it a lot. How are skills that apply conditions easier to land then direct damage abilities? I mean, you say “most condition users will come to see this” , but they can only come to see it if it is based on facts. As you state it with such aver, you certainly must be privy to those facts. As I am not, would you mind offering a detailed explanation?
First off, it seems a little hypocritical for the engineer forums to comment on seeing several of another profession running celestial in PvP considering that engineers were notorious for doing that for dang near the past year.
To answer your question, I have found CC to be quit well for necromancers in general.
Rebinding keys has nothing to do with anything. There is no key I would want it on other than f5, what I was asking for was a visual UI change to shift the 5th ability slightly apart from the original ones.
Why? My keyboard is standard, and my F5 key is right next to my F4 key, So why would I want development time devoted to gapping them, when there is no gap in the keys on my keyboard?
Yeah, it is odd that we do not need the trait line to use the utility skills, heal skill, and elite skill, but we need it for the new weapon.
Why the weapon, but not all of the skills?
How do you enjoy the large blob fights?
Because I can often have 40+ of my guild members on a BL together at the same time.
Each skill takes more than 2 seconds to go off. There is nothing you can do if outnumbered
I don’t have this problem often. I changes to google fiber, and 98% of the skill lag I had no longer existed.
Never understand the fact there are so many players willing to form a 50-60 man blob and play through such skill lags.
Perhaps you would understand other players motivations for things better, if you refrained from being presumptuous? I have not heard complaints about lag when we play on the BL’s. The only time we have issues is on EB.
Well, I’m about ready to delete my guards and warrior because they are pretty much obsolete in WvW right now except for extremely large zergs. All mesmer all day every day for me now. Perma stealth, unbeatable burst and condi, and no need for siege (just port in!)
Yep, they should rename it Mesmer wars. Fun stuff anet.
Go ahead.
Every couple of months some skill changes bring a different profession more to the fore front of value in game. If you delete every profession you have when it falls out of its level of being generally over powered in comparison to other professions, no one is going to worry to much about it.
The question is, do you really want to be the type of player who only plays the profession that are in favor due to buffs and nerfs every time they make a change?
There have been dozens, if not hundreds of ideas put forward by the community with the aim of improving the gaming experience, ALL have been ignored in favour of meaningless fluff and all have been more nails in the coffin.
They were ignored for good reason. I see no logic in implementing terrible ideas, simply because they were offered by the player base.
Got a link that offers evidence of such a claim?
I am interested to know how you even feel you can claim to know that at all, with any certainty, actually.
When CU funded the first thing they did was create forums for the people who backed the game to discuss its future and give feedback. Almost every thread on that forum is full of players comparing DAoC, WAR, and GW2 to what they hope CU will do better.
I can’t link it to you because its restricted to backers, and this conversation isn’t important enough to violate NDA material. If you are a T1 commander, I’m sure you can just ask someone about the CU playerbase.
If you are referring to GW2 WvW’ers being DAoC / WAR veterans, all you have to do is go look at the WvW threads on this forum from when the game launched.
The CU forums you refer to, appear to me, to have less the 1% the amount of posters then there were people listed as having contributed, so I am not entirely certain what metrics your basing your claim on in this instance.
As to the GW2 WvW forums, I see only a small percentage of posters compared to players I see in game. I think you being extremely anecdotal at best.
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/13861848/camelot-unchained
~14,000 kickstarter backers. * it is possible to back after the kickstarter, and many have come in after.
https://forums.camelotunchained.com/
~18,000 membersMaybe you were looking at the wrong forums? Like I said, you can’t even access the forums unless you are a backer. 14,000 does not equal 1% of 18,000. Everyone who is a forum member backed the game.
As for GW2, i’ll give you that there are fewer posters than players, but i simply can’t fathom a T1 server commander not being aware of the DAoC or WAR population on his server. I mean where do you think the original JQ playerbase came from?
This is where things get questionable, Because anyone has been capable of joining these forums for a very long time. I know, because I have been posting on the forums for a very long time, and never gave them a dime. Given that you are claiming inaccurate information to support your case, it is hard not to wonder what else you misunderstood about that game and its contributors.
I mean, you are “claiming” a game has so much to look forward to, when you have no real clue what is going to be in it. You do not even know what the classes will be. And the list of banes and boons so long and convoluted, that by using that as an indicator, it will have worse balance then this game by far.
Good luck though, using it as a threat to fling at Anet. I am certain they are extremely worried about losing their player base to a game that won’t be out for a solid 3+ more years.

What kind of business avoids answers just because their customers were mean? They aren’t friends or family, and they certainly aren’t doing it out of the goodness of their own hearts. You’re right that they don’t have to answer, but that doesn’t mean people can’t keep asking and expecting an answer. And that was a pretty popular issue at the time.
The kind that strives to limit rude and inflammatory post on their own forums?
Just play now, no need info. Just play. Last night I played perfectly too. Anet recently has increased the limit of the map after decreasing it some time ago due to lag problems.
Those lag problemas are back. At least in Kodash-River-Baruch MU.
Unless they changed the cap this morning, that point is irrelevant.
Got a link to where Anet suggested they changed the population cap?
Alliances would allow for a megaserver based WvW and matchups could be balanced based on numbers of active players in an alliance and perhaps a time zone estimate. Server identity could be maintained and ranking could be both by alliance and home server independently. Alliances would be fixed over a given match but then there could be rebalancing for the next weeks matchups. It could be super flexible and fluid. If an alliance had enough players they would be a boarderland, if not the boarderland would be shared by 2 or more alliances grouped together for the match.
Sounds like a pretty broken and community destroying idea, as you explain it. Forced rebalancing, that would limit or break apart and rebuild alliances week to week is an abysmal concept.
I do not want a the players in my community to be “flexible and fluid” when it cones to our ability to play together.
Yeah it’s sad that he would assume that’s a fact
It is reasonable to believe they have evidence of every accounts time in PvE, PvP, and WvW.
Are you “assuming” the opposite is a fact?
So let me get this straight. You died afk, and are in some skewed way, making a jab at the game developer and blaming them, because of the particular damage that killed you?
Personally I feel the game should shut down if you tab out in a match and lock you out for a period of time.
Are you asking the community to prejudgmentally stereotype the players who would complain? Because thay is what it appears you are asking.
I dunno, I had fun with the madness and change of pace. It is unfortunate the OP felt the need to make a thread about others for having a differing opinion. It is a bit sad. I would like to personally apologize to the OP for the fact that I am not a wet blanket, and chose to express that I enjoy the wacky change of pace and had some fun. I don’t know what I was thinking.
Something like that. It is a team support combination that was not designed around the concept of self cleansing.
That only play WvW, we had this one game mode, now we have entire week ahead of BS like this golem rush… EOTM would be totally fine for this kind of event, yes its fun 5 min.. but not entire week.
No, I enjoying the wild and crazy fun. I dunno about anyone else, but your claim of "we "s and "us"s is dishonest.
By all means, have an opinion and share it, but please stop claiming to speak for everyone.
Engineer is designed around an almost non existent cooldown on kits, as a trade off for no weapon swaping. That is its design, and the main draw of the profession. In my opinion, i would much rather see players who dislike the design, simply not play the profession. I see no reason to redesign the core intention, and ruin it for the entire community, just to serve a very small minority who dislike it’s functionality.
It is a crazy event, and I had a great time having some stupid fun last night. Given thay it is only a week long, I like the event. Cutting loose with stupid fun is a good time.
There is literally no build choice anymore. ANet has killed what was the most diverse class I think.
EVERYONE in spvp is taking TK + Elixer S and nearly everyone takes Alch.
The non-Alch traitlines are also poorly designed which leads to everyone picking the exact same set up in those lines.
Engineer is in a terrible spot right now. Both due to external meta pressure of broken Ele/Mes and internal lack of synergy and choice with Traits/Skills.
To be honest, I doubt you have any idea what “everyone” is using, because my experience suggest your incorrect. You cannot assume what happens in your circle is what occurs across the board, and unreasonable hyperbole doesn’t really open up the discussion. I see alot of players trying different things tight now. I see alot of players using EG and not elixir S. I still see some slick shoes and rocket boot combo users as well.
Yeah, it has been brought up a few times. But I am all for bringing it up again, as it was not fixed in the last update.
This game isn’t balanced around the common player though. It’s balanced around high tier because ANet wants to be #esports.
All of the complaints of the Esports playing engineers, strongly suggest the engineer itself is actually not balanced around their skill level, so that concept falls a little flat.
As well, that does not justify abrasively shouting down every player who desires to discuss the engineer, on its designated forums.
Not to mention, a large portion of the community finds it difficult to support buffing passive skills. As I see it, the provlem lands in the area of having lost a lot of options by traits no longer being accessible, that were said to become baseline.
I find it odd that two posters rather rudely demand everyone has to run what the so called best engies in the world, run, or they are berated and brow beaten out of the conversation. Particularly when the brow beaters are certainly not in the “best in the world” catagory.
Those best engies" are not currently succeeding, and are repeatedly complaining about how hard of a time they are having, in cideos, blgs, and post, so this notion of blindly using thier builds strikes me as illogical. Not to mention, what sense does it make for the common player to be so abrasively left out of the conversation?
This isn’t really about how powerful burning is, its that this trait in itself is pretty weak for being in a grandmaster.
Dunno how you think it is weak. Mine stacks almost 6k burning damage. I hardly consider that much damage per target, every 10s as weak.
No one is suggesting current players will move down. Returning players who have no real investment in thier server, from being gone a while, may indeed move down. Not to mention, returning players who are already on lower tier servers will add to the playing population.
It really doesn’t meter what argument you want to use, there is no logical reason to try to make a change until after the injection of both returning and new players, from the release of the expansion.
Celestial is a bit different in WvW than it is in PvP. I under the impression the OP is asking in a WvW context. Unless I am missing something, and am incorrect in that assessment, why does this conversation keep getting drug off topic, into PvP?
For those asking for a server merger, you have to know that would be a very very bad idea to do, right before an expansion. It is much wiser to simply open up free transfers for the first 30 to 60 days after the expansions release.
This would allow for the population goth the expansion brings, to move to servers with no queues or smaller queus, and allow a more natural population dispersment.
Rabid never had vitality, and really doesn’t need it. 900 toughness is more than enough to survive most 1v1 spikes.
The problem with this, is that it is barely half true. As in my experience, more then half the players are spiking with conditions now. So more then half of them, completely ignore the toughness all together, with their damage spikes.
I think your getting a little greedy when it comes to request about grenades. Your showing a bit too much personal bias in how you request changes aspects such as shrapnel, to clearly cater to grenades. As well as asking for longer range on grenades, and so on.
Personally, I think bombs need more. With exception of the combo fields, bombs need a clear damage superiority to grenades, to support the risk versus reward of the range capabilities of each kit.
OP your asking for things in a vague and unconstructive manner.
What you want, in all honestly, is much much less relevant then discussing the path to get there. Unless you offer reasonable solution to discuss, or reasonable ideas about how to make changes or adjustments, your not having a very fruitful discussion.
Your much better off, opening discussions about specific and detailed ideas for how to add or change specific traits, weapon skills, and utility skills.
Rifled Barrels was the only thing that made it through to the game.
Accelerant Packed Turrets was only ‘baseline’ if you took the Explosives line, because it’s a minor trait there, it’s rather annoying how they don’t justify their changes
I think you are misunderstanding what baseline means here. basically they said it was going to be an innate part of the weapons or weapons skills themselves, before you even chose a single trait.
Spoken like someone who only plays ranged. The meta hss definitely shifted towards ranged.
No, I ha e generally always played a frontline build and play style, I simply do not unrealistically kid myself about the realities of the situation.

Sight unseen? We are getting well explained POIs that show alot, not to mention, we are not buying a game. We would be buying an expansion, to an already existing game, that we presumably enjoy greatly. It is a dishonest comparison to compare an expansion to an entirely unreleased game.
Considering the price I hope what they showed in their PoIs was not ‘a lot’ in comparison the the overall content we get. I can see your reasoning but ultimately it boils down to: You are buying an unfinished product that is digital only, therefore has no chance of being sold out or hard to find at release. That just sounds like a very questionable decision to me personally. Expansion or full game doesn’t matter in that regard.
Which makes me wonder, what are you posting for? It appears to me your goal is simply to question and judge others for thier entertainment purchases.
Where you appear to be confussed, is that you seem to think your opinions matters. I don’t really care what you think of my, or anyone elses decision to prepurchase or not to prepurchase.
I am fairly certain, in my case, that it is my money, and my choice. And if you don’t like my choice, well, that’s just a little sad that you actually think anyone cares if you want to berate me, or anyone else, about what I do with it.
Umm, you do realize a fair bit, If not, most of those skills already exist.
(edited by dancingmonkey.4902)
I just saw crystal desert use zoom hacking to destroy seige inside a tower, the seige was below on ground were you cant get at it, my quistion is, will gw2 stop zoom hacking, because its being used so often that its as if unless you make it legal then those servers that do not use it will be at a disadvantage, I know games like wow have software now that just detects people using illegal software and deletes them, gw2 should do the same, I would love to know if people have been caught using zoom hacking, but it really is the most used cheat in the game, its this simple, if you use zoom hacking your server will win every week, I can tell you now that servers will fall from there tier spot if this cheat is stopped.
Not to be “that guy” but ArenaNet just doesn’t care, zoom hacking has been reported and documented over and over and over and… you get the point and not a single word has ever been uttered indicating they’re aware or care about the problem. So I wouldn’t hold my breath for something to be done about this.
If it isn’t new hotness related to the expansion or gemstore ANet (without being too salty about it) just does not care.
Well actually, as I see it, you are kind of being the worst version of “that guy”, because there isn’t really any evidence of “hacking” being envolved, what so ever, as far as I can tell.
But i get why some people are kittened. They rolled a Warrior or a Guardian and went with the Hammertrain meta. For two years they were the golden duo above and beyond all else. Sucks that isn’t neccesarily true anymore.
Anyway i’d wait to see what Revenant does, that profession has some gnarly aoe projectile counters.
I would agree with you if the new meta would not be to stand in 1200 range and press 1 for ranged attack. Its more dull than having hammertrain.
And with current change in stats where going deep will just kill you because of all that damage, reverting stability is good idea.
Good thing that is not actually the new meta, and you are simply posting over exaggerated hyperbole.
Your arguement is much more a testimonial for a need of evaluating skill damage then it ever will be for changing stability.

Why? Because people are willing pay for it at that price. Yes, without even knowing what they’re getting. In case you don’t know, there’s a famous saying attributed to P.T. Barnum . . . which he actually didn’t say.
You might want to look into it.
So everyone who disagrees with you and felt that it was worth the price is a sucker?
Considering they bought something without knowing what it’s going to be exactly or what it includes -and more importantly- without a fricking release date?
‘Sucker’ migth be a bit harsh but I’d definitely say those people are irresponsible as consumers and just encouraging ANet to put out a subpar product by giving them their money upfront.Don’t get me wrong, I’m definitely going to buy HoT, but only when we know what features/content it includes and when we have a release date.
Whether there’s a release date or not doesn’t matter. There’s is an extremely high chance it will be released and in the off chance that it doesn’t, you can get a refund. People do not need every single detail to determine that they should buy the expansion or not. Many people have bought games based on less info.
You don’t understand what I’m trying to get at.
1. Not buying a product without a release date has nothing to do with a fear of it not releasing but refusing to give money for something seemingly so unfinished that it’s unclear when it will release out of principle.
2. This is pre purchase , not preorder. You are actually buying sight unseen. Sorry, but I was raised to think before I act. That includes being informed before I buy something. Maybe this prepurchase thing is just something ‘american’ and that’s why I don’t get it.
3. HoT is digital only so there will be no shortage of copies at release. If you know it interests you, I could understand if you made a mental note to check it out when it’s released to confirm your first impression but buying at this stage is irresponsible and some would probably even say downright stupid.
Again, caveat emptor. ANet is not your friend. If they see people will buy unfinished products, they will be incentivesed to release products in an unfinished state and move on to the next project. This is all your opinion which you’re trying to force onto others that don’t agree with you. It’s fine if you don’t feel that it’s not worth it but don’t call people irresponsible because they disagree with you and fell that it is.
I’m not trying to force anything on anyone and nowhere have I said that this is more than just my opinion. You are not wrong to prepurchase, it’s just that in my opinion behaviour like this lead to a bad games, especially in 2014. Stuff like watchdogs, AC unity or many many bad pc ports like dead rising 3 or arkham origins and knigth just make it clear that buying games sight unseen based only on hype is a very bad idea. Plus, I think it’s sleazy to open for prepurchse when you don’t even have a release date.
Sight unseen? We are getting well explained POIs that show alot, not to mention, we are not buying a game. We would be buying an expansion, to an already existing game, that we presumably enjoy greatly. It is a dishonest comparison to compare an expansion to an entirely unreleased game.
Celestial has been destroyed, our new trait lines focusing on lack of diversity force us into either full condition or full power builds. If you try roaming with celestial you’ll get rolfstompedX1000 as engineer currently is with many bugged traits.
I know you said you’ve already crafted celestial but this my set up, I didn’t want healing power as it scales poorly so i focused it into other stats. Ferocity is a bit low but overall its a good balance.

Speak for yourself. Roaming in WvW, I thrive more now, then I did before the changes, with a very similar build.
I cannot support any suggest that goes against defending real estate in WvW. This is a horrible idea. We should be offering suggestions to support the concept of defending real estate, not bad ideas to punish players for defending.
