it does seem to really favor eles, and rangers, thiefs not so much they good at getting around and backcapping, but are the worst orb runners by far.
I had four 4on5 , and 1 3on5 matchs today in a row. two where people who quit during the course of the match.
Tehy really need to level a 1 hour tourny ban on ppl who quit or afk out of matchs.
Hotjoins are an issue, they really should be removed.
lets create 1 spvp community.
The best orb runner ive seen so far in terms of speed is a ranger.
If you are doing pvp. you need a stun breaker, i recommend elixir s, if u cant stun break, thiefs and warriors will eat your face off.
And flamethrower is ok, but not Eg.
Eg is good if u want to make a bunker, but both eg/ft, hybrid builds dont work. Try exlir s, exliri b, fg, with exliir h for heal. go up alchemy all the way and get exliris grant might and 20% less exliri time, this applies to you f1, f2,f3 exlirs also.
Gives you a good mix of survability while mainting damage, also exliri b has retalion and low cooldown so use it literally every cd.
this is a standard pvp build with gren kit out and flame kit in.
First off, it is not a solo Q. It is a join solo button, you can still get matched up with premades. its no different than selecting the hold roster button and submitting as just yourself.
SEcondly, if youve only got a few minutes. Or like, if your bad and want bad competition. Or i suppose if u enjoy them-though i dont see how.

I rocked PVE and have been 80 for a while. Played WVW for a while and did decent as a support role in the BG for the most part. Didn’t get to many one on ones.
In SPVP I am down right horrible.
I have always considered myself a good gamer. I was really great at quake 1/2/arena and did well at WoW dueling but for some reason I can’t get this down.
I keep switching key binds and builds and what not but just can’t seem to find one that works.
So I am not asking what build I should go with cause I really have fun with them all. I am positive its not the char/build/whatever but its me.
Most of my problem I think is due to targeting.
Curious to hear how long it took you to get good with your mesmer in SPVP and what tricks or tips for key binding you have?
In spvp you want shatter.

Cant remember all the traits off hand, but in the last trait line u want the one that makes you shatter on yourself. ETc.
You need to learn the shatter combo, and how to use f4 distortion to dodge power burst classes.
this might suprise elementalists, but thiefs get destroyed by eles (pre nerf). And badly.
Most top teams run 1 or 2 eles, sometimes 3. And they are well regarded by the tOP QP holders as the strongest class in the game. ( in spvp)
If you dont understand how strong eles where, you were not playing higher end pvp.
(ie old paid tournies).

I like the new map just fine. but holy cow is portal useful in this map.
Want to point out that kit refinement from engineers does NOT appear to have a cooldown of 10 seconds. So this change isnt working right it seems.
well. eles cant blink or use mistform while running the orb so stun can really mess them up. If you have a ranged player like a gren engy you can gren the orb in time b4 they cap it.
Thank god for the ele nerf, because even WITH that nerf, they still appear to be strongest class on this new map. But its early yet.
I’ll wait till they do a further update on the pvp notes before getting drastic. Apparently some balance changes where missed.
Also the new map is pretty sweet.
How can they fix players deciding to quit after getting a match pop.
This is largely a human behavior problem, its difficult to code around that.
Its the same two ques that exist now.
Just without a ticket cost.
Only reason for it that i can see is they commented they dont know how to make the map rotate. So this is probably to keep more than 1 tourny map in circulation.
Is it just me or is there really no nerf to Heartseeker spammers?
Or i a skill that provides the fastest movement in game + highest dmg + stealth

they dont need a nerf. Hs spammers are so easy to kill its not an issue.

applies 5 stacks of confusion, i believe it was previously 3.It was 5 stacks of confusion before in the Bombs.

Some bugs, and bug fixs always happen post patch, annoying but unsuprising.
Keep reporting em fellows im sure they know they need to fix this stuff asap.
3on3 maybe, but dont hold your breath, anet has much bigger fish to fry right just this minute.

They didn’t only replaced the individual cooldown with a global 10 sec cooldown.

Dude, i realy like this game, i want to be positive. When i read the original patch notes it was a literal slap in the face, i was really holding out alot of hope for this patch.

But if some things got nerfed and unmentioned, that might mean this patch is … less unpalatable. And then i can continue to wait for further improvement.

The changes to ranger are the ones im the most happy about, that seemed about right.
Hiya. Ok youve picked what is considered to be a class a tad on the weak side ( in tourny pvp).
if however you like hotjoins, or do mostly hotjoins, then warriors are really good.
First thing, is you want to familirze yourself with the 100 blades spec and the job of a defensive roamer, thats for the most part the roll they play in tournies.
If your with a very organized team a CC warrior can be good.
If your doing hotjoins , they are good for smashing people.
IF your on North america, you should ask Hman for a good tourny build, hes one of the few top warriors around.
There are some updates missing from the notes. We are tracking down those, but some changes to the D/D and S/D ele build are in this patch despite not being in the notes.
Hurry up on this, this is important for damage control. If theres stuff in there that wasnt mentioned please please rush that info to the forums. Theres a bit of a storm brewing here.
The pool of teams is too small to garuntee this.
lets just say its more probable than before that you will face a team of equal skill.
And additionally, less likely that you will face a team thats way above or below you.
If before you had good match ups 25% of the time, now you might have good match ups 40% of the time.
If the spvp player base ever grows significantly that number will rise.
Yes. Timewarp nerf to 6 seconds would be perfect.
Ele cantrips toned down a bit more.
I dont understand the kit refinement on engy enough to comment, i know they got alot of buffs, but buffs to things that seem so unviable i question if it matters.
They now have things which are less unviable?

I will always caveat that, until its play tested its too soon to be certain, but i feel with you xeph, that this patch hasnt adjusted the meta at all.
They really should release these notes ahead of time, y not take player feedback, its a free data source.

When I think most people have the opinion that the ele is significantly OP and needed some fairly significant re-balancing. I still can’t work out if this patch buffed or nerfed the elementalist. I think its maybe the tiniest of nerfs??
So what does this mean? Well it means if you dont roll an ele then you have at least another month of playing against a class which basically is just an unfair advantage for your opponent. Its almost like a gear differential. I say an ele has full ascended gear whilst everyone else in in rares :P
I think the problem is that the developers know more than the players who in many cases are incapable of thinking logically, changing your gameplay “may” affect the way you see things…just maybe.
I stated many times before..if you were expecting the ele to be nerfed to the ground ..actually underneath the ground…you’d be sorry in the end, regardless of the nerfs Anet won’t make the profession completely unplayable just to please whiners on the forum .

I would have been content with just the nerfs, if they didnt get offsetting buffs.
Honetsly i dont want them nerfed to the ground, i really dont, i just wanted them toned down and to not be soo strong. Playing will confirm, but my suspicion is eles will still be the dominant class, and that means the nerf was insufficient.
I understand it’s all he had going for him, since he ran when I was downed. but dang… That was 20k damage in the 2 seconds before he became visible, via what I assume to be use of quickness.

I was hoping for more warrior buffs (i dont play a warrior, but i mean they need it) and more ele nerfs. Those are the too biggest dissapointments for me.
I really hope this new map is at least good…
These class changes seem insufficient.
Engineers have deeper problems than this.
one of the biggest issues with engies, and im suprised nobody brough it up, is our second trait line, with precison and condition damage.
It has power abilities, which is appropriate to precision, but why then is its off effect condition damage. Since crits dont help conditions.
The first master trait in the necro tree makes this vaible as they get bleeds on crits.
The engineer version is just 30% chance to cause bleeding on crit? Isn’t the necro equivelant 100% chance to do the same thing? Anyways if they buffed that to 50% chance to cause bleed on crit, that would be something. Easy adjustment here devs, that would make a difference.

Overall, my first impression is the patch moves us in the right direction. But, at a crawl, they need to realease another patch update and soon that continues to move us in the right direction.
A weeks feedback from this new patch should be all they need to take another look.
I’m concerned myself that these balance changes are insufficient.
The patch notes, the changes to ele. its too early to say yet, but im concerned that this wont be a sufficient nerf. Eles are soo strong guys, if you arent doing tournies allt he time you have no idea.
I will post back in a few days with feedback on how they are doing, but you gave em quite a few buffs to go with those nerfs so lets hope it doesnt cancel out.
Also , im unsure the buff to warrior or engy was sufficient.

1 per profession is good because you know what youll get.
And if your the class that got stolen from, you know what hes got. (at least you should).
I dont understand the split between 3 round tournies and single round.
The only thing i can think of is that they havnt figured out how to make the map rotate so they want to offer variety.
Or maybe the single round tournies still require a premade. Basically exactly what its like now, just with no ticket cost.
Its a great idea. I wish they allowed to vendor our tickets for like 20 silver each, or even 10 silver each instead of chests. As anyone who reguarly does tournies will have had all the chests over a dozen times.

If your doing hot joins my advice is to avoid the play now button and join a nearly full server manually, they are almsot always balanced.
Id rather 10 silver a ticket than chests -_-.
You can wait out the field b4 kiling him also, it lasts 6 seconds, but if u put him down poison is ur friend and dps the body instead of trying 4 a stomp.
Or if u have stability or stealth, stomp w that.
im afriad the balance changes arent out friend.
We know aoe is undergoing a general nerf at some point.
But, that will nerf other peoples aoes that are hitting you, so whats good for the goose is good for the gander.
Also, if your serious about SPVP. Do yourself a favor.
If your on NA region, transfer to anvil rock.
If you are on EU transfer to desolation.
Those are by far the most populated spvp servers in the respective regions.
D/d backstab combo is much easier to land.
D/p is a lil tricky to play, but yes has more options. Its harder to land the backstabs though.
If you ever play thief you will see this.
yap this is annoying , here is something you can do to mitigate this experience.
DONT USE THE JOIN NOW BUTTON.
manually select a server with 12+ players and join that. If you want 8vs8.
Or scroll down and look for a 6+ 5vs5 server.
Yap, i’m quite excited. good to see things shake up.
Not sure if this has been mentioned or noted. But every now and then i get a bug where i cant move, until an enemy CC’s me, or i die and respawn. Ive had teammates tell me they get this as well. And ive seen people on other teams seemingly effected by it.
I hear its when your using a weapon channel but then swtich weapons (say to goto sheild and get a vital block up). Im not sure if thats whats causing it, but it happens to me at least once or 2x a nite. Though i should report it, if anyone reading this thread is familar w the bug or more details please comment.
