RIP Warrior Class

I’m so happy because now, a warrior MUST use the 110% of their skill to fight someone that uses the 110% of his skill.

The 123345123511345 days have been ended. You all were used to win fights doing nothing.

Your argument makes absolute no sense what so ever.

You say the “123345123511345 days have been ended” which implies people (warriors) are using their skills in a specific order, the same as every single other class in the game. Then you say “You all were used to win fights doing nothing.” which directly contradicts the first part of your sentence.

So which is it, were they using skills in a specific order to achieve results? Or doing nothing to achieve results?

Please delete. Thanks.

Look up resistance to change.

I’m confused what the point is that you’re trying to make. Are you trying to imply we should like any change just because it’s change? Even if it’s for the negative?

People don’t like change that is at the heart of it.

This is a stupid tired argument to use. People like change if the change makes sense and is good.

If you’ve played the game on a new character in the last 12 hours you’d notice there’s very little good to be had in the new update.

People don’t like change. Calling it stupid does not alter that.

But it’s not true. I’m all for change if it’s good. The wardrobe change was good, for the most part, the trading post changes are good as well. The crafting UI changes are good, too.

The new player experience is completely and utterly terrible. Most people agree with that it seems. It’s makes the game feel so laughable dumbed down it feels like playing the game with training wheels on, which is essentially what it is. Anet assumes most of it’s new players are stupid brain dead morons who need to have their hands held.

So you see, people don’t hate change. They just hate bad changes.

Please delete. Thanks.

New Arcing Slice

I was so happy to hear, that this long neglected skill would see some love and now this.

100% more damage when the enemy is below 50% and NO base damage reduction would have been just about right.

It´s just weak as it is now.
It´s a burst skill without the burst and does not feel stronger than it was before,
no, even weaker.

I know the numbers suggest it does more damage but it just does not feel that way.
Rush does more damage than the burst skill WITH the damage bonus againt foes below 50% health.

Laughable. I was glad to finally use this skill only to be disappointed 3 minutes after the patch.

As things stand now I´d rather see an AOE rush as the greatsword burst skill than arcing slice.

Are you kidding me? I lined up 6K AoE skills last night with the new GS F1 burst and though wow cool! It’s viable! 100%!?! You want it to be a direct 9K crit to 5 targets?

As opposed to 100b that could do consistently do 15k+ damage to 3 targets and potentially much much more.

And then it will be extremely rare that will you ever be hitting 5 of anything with it as well to “get the most out of it”. At most you’ll be hitting 2 or 3 targets.

[PvE] Adapting to the changes

Let’s consider the classic GS + Axe/Mace build

1. Working with Berserker’s Power in any build post-patch:
A: Use Healing Surge as your healing skill so you don’t have to kitten your crit chance by activating Signet of Fury to maintain Berserker’s Power’s bonus whenever you get out of combat.

2. Managing Fury uptime with the reduced fury production of Signet of Rage:
A: Arcing Slice, however disappointing still is quite the DPS increase when cast on a target below 50% health in comparison to your auto-attack. I advise casting it while Healing Surge is available so you can instantly replenish your adrenaline to benefit from the Berserker’s Power’s bonus.

… Why not just use offhand axe? Whirling axe got a buff of 17% more damage and has a 15 second cooldown, which will instantly fill up your entire adrenaline bar in a fight. Just start off combat with it. And duel strike will cover the fury up time no problem, especially if you hit more than 1 enemy. You’ll have more than before actually. You also won’t have to waste a heal and utility just to keep up adrenaline.

Because it’s still worse dps than axe auto attack.

how about stop being passive and start demanding ANET either fix warriors now or un due bad changes.

That would imply ArenaNet is listening which… they’re most likely not. Also if their track record is any sort of indication any fixes will be very slow in coming. So we either have to adapt or die, that’s the nature of the beast my friend.

They might listen if overnight 95% of the warriors stopped playing them. A boycott like that is not likely to happen though.

can someone actually confirm that? I know lvl1-10 is fast. Wonder if 10-20 is fast too.

Playing with a friend tonight. I used a lvl 20 scroll, they didn’t. By the time I got to 25 they were already level 16. Don’t know if it’s faster but in the time I gained 4ish levels they gained more than 15.

if you are doing low level content, then you get a lot less exp, in newb areas, its very ineffecient to do lower level areas for exp.

I should have added that we were both in EoTM.

Please stop crying about this, ANet communicated their intentions

People crying because the numbers were changed, when it’s still an overall buff is just going to incentivize ANet to revert back to a “We don’t talk at all, until it’s ready” mode.

If I’m picking up what you’re putting down properly then you’re basically saying we shouldn’t ever give feedback in fear we might scare anet away from the big bad forums.

They also made it strike five targets?

If you want Eviscerate, take Eviscerate.

did you even saw the ready up?

Did you know they buffed arcing slice because its an compensation for the nerf on 100b and whirlwind

Did you know arcing slice was ALWAYs a terrible burst because it doesnt hit like a burst

Now it even got 8% less dmg.. and ONLY 42% more dmg below 50% health..

I aint asking for an second EVI.. but this ISSNT what they showed to us in the ready up..

So in the end they just nerfed 3 skills on GS..

Lol, so your complaining about an overall 21% damage buff to one of your skills plus a 5 target cleave because you wanted a 25% damage buff plus a 5 target cleave, is that what I’m getting?

it should give a total of 100% more dmg below 50% health.
Thats because the skill above 50% dmg sucks (only around 1k base dmg)

Now the nerfed it by 8% and not give it a 100% but 50% more dmg below 50% health..

So yeah this is 58% dmg less compared to the ready up…
So overall STILL USELESS..

(and not forget 5% dmg nerf on 100b/whirlwind.. for nothing now)

Sure and your autos should instadown people. Just cause you want to do stupid amounts of damage doesn’t mean you should be able to lol. Honestly, warriors will still be one of the strongest classes in the game. I really don’t get why warriors complain so much when they have better traits, utilities and weapons across the board as compared to almost every other class.

I’m trying to understand what ArenaNet’s design team was thinking, what practical application they thought this would be used for… we already didn’t need another way to trigger fury, we didn’t need another aoe attack, we didn’t need another way to regenerate endurance sooo… yea this was apparently designed to fill a niche that doesn’t exist.

Remember all the BHB’s who said this change was compensation for the 100b and WWA nerf?

Yeah.

Remember when they said Arcing Slice would be something like an execute?

Yeah.

Right now this is a completely pointless skill, I can’t see ever using it and now with the adrenaline nerf I guess we’ll have to just constantly be switching to axe to use eviscerate. Or just not use the greatsword at all anymore, regardless I’m just flabbergasted that someone on a design team thought this was okay. It feels so poorly thought out and utterly untested I’m amazed.

On the bright side a useless skill was nerfed into a useless skill. So nothing of worth was lost.

Too bad we can’t say the same about other changes made today.

Is it just me or does anyone else feel that the change to adrenaline consumption (consumed even when the hit misses), and the decay break warrior viability in PVP?

Or maybe I’m just playing the Warrior wrong?

You’re not.

Sorry to double post but yea, after just messing around a bit in WvW and Arena’s these two things together are just brutal. I feel like I’m playing a class that constantly struggling to keep it’s head above water and generate enough adren to even effectively use my burst skills let alone constantly having to worry about wasting all that by missing or getting out of combat just hurts… a lot. Hell I’ve been afraid to even pop Signet of Rage to keep it’s passive up rather than go for the might/fury/swiftness it gives, it’s all very strange.

As I said before these changes just feel incredibly poorly thought out, they can’t have meant to change warriors this much.

I think they did mean to change it this much. The body language shown by the dev in the video clearly shows he knows what he is showing is not going to be well received.

What’s more is if no one plays warriors then no one will complain about warriors. Problem of berserk warrior domination solved.

So let me get this straight, veteran players have been wanting more hardcore content implemented to this game because they felt that it is too casual and that it didn’t feel challenging enough, that it was too faceroll, and that progression didn’t feel all that good because you got pretty much everything from the start.

So while they didn’t get level 80 endgame content, they did get early game stuff that gives you that progression, that gives you that challenge because you don’t get most of your traits and skills so early on. The game is still casual, but you can’t faceroll through content anymore, at least not early on.

So while it’s not the dungeons and more world bosses made into challenging behemoths, they did so with the leveling and the system they’ve put in place.

It really is all about perspective, and people just don’t seem to understand that they got what they wanted, but just because it’s not in a place where they expected it to be, they think it’s all wrong.

The game has become more challenging in this area, so open your eyes and appreciate it, because this is what you were looking for.

I really am buffled why veteran players complain that leveling is too hard now, when you want more hard kitten in this game…

Anet can’t win.

Except for none of the changes they made affect the difficulty of the game in the slightest. It just makes creating a new character more tedious and that’s all.

I love how everyone is pointing at thieves this patch when in reality we didn’t get that many buffs.

Didn’t get “that many buffs” is better than 95% of the buffs that warrior got. The 5% because greatsword burst might, might, be useful after the patch.

wait so you’re saying that counterplay and skill will stop things? say it isnt so!!!! so glad thieves will never have to experience counter play.

Yeah, exactly. Counter-play. Some one says “but those things shouldn’t make a thief lose stealth” but for some reason, they should make a warrior lose his adrenaline.

Because nerfing adrenaline is going to encourage build diversity.

It’s going to do exactly the opposite. Guess what you’ll be seeing from 98% of the warriors after the patch? Longbow. Yep, that build diversity.

As for eleses and lack of build diversity being locked to 1 weapon as one of your counter-points….there you go.

And necros have conditions. Conditions which can prevent other classes (warrior) from landing their important skills. Which wouldn’t you know it, is defensive. It’s almost like that’s how it’s meant to be, or something.

Then they’ll realize that LB won’t compliment the play style of their build, and start to think of reworking their build. Some will probably start going Brawler’s Recovery, Cleansing Ire route while others might resort to Lyssa runes. LB is nice and all, but if you’re just taking it so you can just expend adrenaline whenever you have 3 bars to clear 3 conditions, and messing with the flow of your build, it’ll normally end with a unsatisfied feeling that you put on yourself.

There are more reasons to use longbow burst than just reliable condition cleanse. It’s good at getting people off points.

And the majority of warriors use longbow already..

Fair is fair.

You do realize that it only works in the context of the under powered professions pointing out the clearly over powered ones. The over powered ones cannot point out similarities between professions and cry nerf at the under powered ones.

Sounds like someone is upset that they will go from extremely over powered to simply moderately over powered…………….

It doesn’t matter. Trying to use something completely irrelevant to a specific class doesn’t exactly work when you’re trying to achieve balance.

Besides that it’s mostly whiners on the forum who think warriors are extremely OP. They show up here after getting killed by a warrior or two (because they are the most played class so running into good ones is common) and complain about how strong warriors are. All the while assuming they’re definitely the best player in the game so they shouldn’t be getting killed by anything short of a nuclear explosion and never consider that perhaps, they aren’t as good as they think they are.

Sounds like some one is happy warriors will become easy kills again. Because that’s balance.

If you want it to be fair let us interrupt the use of every classes core mechanic.

Give guardian virtues a cast time, same goes for eles switch elements, and necro death shroud. Oh yeah and engineers as well, with their potions, elixirs, and turrets. Thieves should lose stealth on a miss, etc etc etc.

Point is that warrior will become the only class in the game that can have it’s class mechanic completely shut down by 1 single condition. The worst part is that conditions are so easy to spam you don’t even have to be trying to target them with it either.

Fair is fair, after all. You want risks in your game play every other class should have them, too.

Warriors won’t be useless come patch, the adrenalin change as well as others are for a pvp perspective. They were over the top and needed some changes. The adrenalin change will actually bring in some thought to the class instead of just spamming burst skills without any repercussions. Also the change to beserker stance was a bug fix, there was no reason that should stack 5 stacks of adrenalin causing your bar to fill extremely fast.
Now you have to actually think when to burst or you can lose your adrenalin if you miss. No more spamming lb burst to cleanse whenever you want regardless if you hit anything or not. The change to impale is better since that was very powerful. Honestly I feel it needs a better tell like they did with pin down.
This isn’t the end of the world, wars will still be in a good place, it’s not like it’s going to be warrior at launch all over again. Players will adapt jut fine.

These changes pretty much undo all the good they ever did for the warrior class. So no, it’s not going to be fine.

Granted it’s not the most damaging build a warrior can run but it’s not bad either. And you’ll likely survive a hit that will outright kill a full berserker.

Yeah, it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me… the rates are intended to result in more useable drops for a given character, but somehow won’t result in less silk if you’re playing a heavy or medium class? I don’t know enough about maths to know what sort of algorithms could feasibly produce a result like that, but it still smells fishy.

Hey, maybe if we’re lucky they’ll make up for it by adjusting the amount of silk required to craft spools of silk weaving thread down to 50 instead of 100.

Or the amount of silk scraps required to craft a silk ribbon down to 2 from 3. Which seems a little more reasonable. A middle ground, if you will.

Hardly. It wasn’t until winter of 2013 where warrior started to be a “strong class” in any area other than pve.

For the first year and a half of this games life warrior was considered bottom tier in pvp or wvw.

And then ever since winter 2013 Anet has been consistently nerfing warriors burst skills giving them long telegraphs that are easy to avoid. Which is FUNNY because now they’re giving warriors a huge punishing mechanic attached to missing a burst skill…which they made easy to avoid or otherwise inhibit.

Just watched the video listing all the changes to skills and all the classes were getting buff after buff then when he got to the warrior it was absolutely nothing but nerfs. Made me cry.

I felt the same way.

And to the people saying “well this is how it was in GW1…”. I’m not sure if you noticed this by now but GW2 is a completely different game from GW1.

Everything about is different. The simple fact of the matter is that there are more ways to prevent a warrior from hitting his burst skill than there are for a warrior to land his burst skill. And conditions are so easily spammable, with blind being one of the most spammable conditions in the game.

Sure the changes might raise the skill ceiling for warriors, but where is the same changes for other classes that were already on par now matter how much people want to say warriors are OP.

I very much fear that these changes are going to undo all the good (aside from burst skill nerfs) that anet has done for the warrior over the last year. That we’ll go back to being bottom tier like we were for the first 1.5 years of the games life.

And for the love of God if they have to make these changes revert some of the burst skill nerfs. They’re so easy to dodge or inhibit in some way.

Hmmm this begs the question…. Since cloth is already the hardest to get commodity, are there more players who play light classes compared to the combined total of mediums and heavy (and factor in actual play time). I highly suspect the answer is no… in fact most people doing the most play that generates drops are actually the sum of the other two groups rather than lights. At which point, haven’t they just made cloth even more rare?

This seems so obvious I must have missed something.

If I had to guess there is probably more guardians and warriors than most other classes.

I really hope this doesn’t make high end mineral prices drop (again) and cloth prices all go up. That seems counter productive to even anet.

We’ve been asking for a 2 handed axe weapon type since beta pretty much. At one point in time Anet did mention we’d get new weapon types for classes. What they meant by that exactly they never elaborated on though.

Points for refusing to make the obvious pun..

Thanks for being loyal... NOT!

I can’t be the only one getting sick and tired of these QQ threads.

And yet here you are reading/posting in them.

We *DO* want to know what's in development.

Still waiting for that precursor crafting and/or scavenger hunt announced more than a year ago…

Maybe we’ll get it in the second half of 2015.

People keep trying to convince others the nerfs are a good thing but I’m just not seeing it.

The only way they’re good is if you don’t play a warrior.
