Hey guys, wanted to give my input on this. I personally have played for a year now and since i have started i have mystic forged 7 precursors and i had 1 drop recently out of AC. The chances of a drop are so low that i cant begin to describe how lucky i got. Later that day i had gotten Zap, and the next morning i had gotten Colossus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TC7lOsIYYzI here is a link to my video about it. Would like to know other peoples thoughts on this. Seems to me that precursor drops are not that rare. And yes i understand the percentages.
You’re extremely lucky is what it comes down to.
I gave up on ever getting a legendary weapon simply because it’s the most boring thing I could ever imagine doing with my time. I would literally rather watch paint dry, or grass grow over trying to grind out gold to get a precursor weapon.
Is it more boring than complaining about it on a website?
I would say that’s an accurate assessment.
Also I see you haven’t been with the game long. Since there’s stuff in your post that proves you don’t really have a grasp of class DPS output.
Aside from that – another fun fact : there are more PVE warriors enjoying healing signet then there probably are sPVP hardcore players hating it.
You have to realize this game is mostly focused on PVE, and that PVP is an afterthought at best since hardly anybody plays it now.
Do everyone a favor, and stop trying to use PvE to justify passive skills that promote lack of game play, We do not expect the player base to be genies, but it would be nice if everyone could wrap there head around the fact that PvE is probably the worst aspect to balance around.
I feel like people just don’t like Healing Signet because it is probably one of warriors best heals if not the best and is completely passive. Passive play inherently has a lower skill cap than active play, but that does not mean passive play should be made stronger than active.
Part of the problem based on this, is that while others have to stop defending themselves or attacking to heal, warriors can skip this step. It is an unfair and unreasonable advantage.
The second problem, as far as I am concerned, is the double standard here, by specific posters. There are posters here defending HS, who constantly attack stealth, troll incendiary powder threads to bash is passive play, and so on. (IP is a problem, stealth is not).
And yet pve players have to deal with the nerfs just as much, and in some cases more so than the pvp players they were supposed to be balanced around. AKA recent adrenaline changes.
If we go by popular opinion it’s that hambow, the build the recent changes to warrior was designed to nerf is the one least affected by the adrenaline changes. While in pve that build is completely useless, but the builds people used in pve got nerfed into oblivion.
Like i said, if you want to do the fastest speed run, it’s 1 warrior max, why you keep saying the ease of play, you did say “speed clear” which is not random LFG with random pugs and which no noobs should be involved in this conversation and game is not balanced around noobs and pve is heck easy.
and clearly, you know nothing about speed run and max damage out put, if you think frostbow 4 is all ele has
and if you really know anything about speed run instead of acting like you know anything because you do LFG pug groups, you will know that all the fastest speed clears done in the current meta is one warrior max. really, researching is not hard
Speed clear means literally what it looks like it means, clearing the dungeon quickly. If you wana argue the few seconds difference in part A-Z of a dungeon then you are probably the least enjoyable person to run a dungeon with.
Slip ups happen, it’s not a “noob” thing. It can be RL stuff, lag, messing up a rotation by a second, etc. If you’re glued to the monitor and timing your teammates by the second I would immediately report you for being a kitten and spam “lol” PM’s as I kick you from the group because that is toxic behavior. No one should care about a minute extra for a dungeon run, you’re just way to invested in the game at that point.
So your “optimal” group comp non-sense is just music to my ears. Warrior is low risk high reward in pve and can find a place in any “speed clear”.
I find it amusing that you say you’ll kick people from a group because they expect everyone in the run to know what they’re doing because you claim it’s toxic behavior.
Yet you’re perfectly okay with kicking people from the group, reporting them, and “loling” at them after you’ve done so.
Lets talk about that toxic behavior..
Funny that you would cater a Q.Q player rather than let them know how it feels to be kicked for stupid kitten.
I could care less for clearing a dungeon in the best time possible, there is no reward for it and I play the game to pass time not squeeze my kitten through the screen to let everyone know I’m pro. So yeah, I’d gladly make such a player feel bad for being a bad egg. Not much else I can or would want to do, because it wouldn’t be worth listening too.
Nono, I was just pointing out the irony that you don’t like a certain behavior you deem toxic yet you perpetuate your own toxic behavior in retaliation.
Here’s a tip for you. If you don’t like speed runs you can either; 1) create your own groups or 2) don’t join groups advertised as speed runs. It’s really pretty simple.
Sometimes when I don’t care about getting through a dungeon fast or I’m playing a newly made character and still learning it and/or gearing it I advertise my party as casual and guess what? People join who don’t care about how fast we clear or how geared we are. It’s crazy, I know. And usually those groups end up being better than the speed run groups.
I also gotta ask, what do you report those people for? Taking a dungeon run too seriously? And do you realize abusing the report button (it says in the dialog window) can get you banned?
In any event, this has nothing to do with warriors or healing sig. Which are fine for the most part.
(edited by fellyn.5083)
The beauty of the pre is that, if you are not lucky enough to have one drop, you can always buy one. With 5000+ hours played, even if you only banked 25-30s an hour, you would have enough to buy any pre in the game right now. The system works fine.
Yeah it works “just fine” but that doesn’t mean it’s not the most boring uninspired mechanic ever put into place in a video game.
I gave up on ever getting a legendary weapon simply because it’s the most boring thing I could ever imagine doing with my time. I would literally rather watch paint dry, or grass grow over trying to grind out gold to get a precursor weapon.
That coupled with the fact that the precursor weapon is just one small part of a legendary yet it’s the biggest road block.
Well it’s called a legendary for a reason. We can’t have precursors dropping like flies for everyone. If they even increased the drop rate a little, the prices would drop.
Not seeing a down side to be honest.
The current system is not fair since it’s random, therefore it cannot be fair.
Actually, random is completely fair. Every single person has the exact same chance, making it the definition of fair.
People don’t like fair though. They say they do, but what they really mean when they say that is “I want a system whereby I get what I want and other people do not”.
Yeah. Totally fair that some people can get a precursor in their first few tosses into the mystic toilet but the next guy in line throws in hundreds of gold of crap into it doesn’t have anything to show for it.
Totally and completely fair amounts of effort that were equally rewarded. Yep.
Its fair because both have the same chance for a precursor everytime they use the forge.
You are mixing up fairness and equality. No one ever said RNG rewards people with equal rewards all the time.
Which is why it’s a terrible and lazy mechanic and people hate it. It rewards luck and that’s it.
Like i said, if you want to do the fastest speed run, it’s 1 warrior max, why you keep saying the ease of play, you did say “speed clear” which is not random LFG with random pugs and which no noobs should be involved in this conversation and game is not balanced around noobs and pve is heck easy.

(edited by fellyn.5083)
There is a reason. It’s because they listened to “feedback” on the forum. And the forum told them that warriors were OP.
But instead of telling people to suck it up and to try adapting their game play they threw the entire class under the buss in the name of balance.
(edited by fellyn.5083)
Because as we all know forum posters and pvpers make up the majority of the player base.
It’s almost like you guys forget that there are 2 more game modes in the game. Both of which are far more popular than pvp.
Also I’ve hung out in the mist. I’ve never seen anyone complain about healing sig. So if we’re talking anecdotal (at best) evidence, whose is more valid? Mine or yours?
(edited by fellyn.5083)
Well I’m confident some things will change because LA is pretty different from what it was a year ago.
But I still think 95% of it will be the same as last year.
I’m expecting it to be copy & paste from last year.
prety sure we where promised new legendary skins at some point going back about a year ago
just like we where promised a way to craft/quest for precurssors ……….yeah still waiting
Actually it was in September of 2012 that they first said they were working on the precursor scavenger hunt. Interestingly enough the posts that talked about it mysteriously disappeared from the forum at some point.
A few months later they said nope, just kidding we’re not actually working on a scavenger hunt. But they did politely inform us that “we are monitoring the situation”. Whatever that means.
Then in the infamous Second Half of 2013 blog post that was in July they said they were working on it again. Which is funny because all the major stuff they talked about in that blog post, the stuff people were most interested in didn’t happen.
And here we are and it’s almost 2015. Anet sure does take their time.
(edited by fellyn.5083)
from dulfy report of latest ready up:
“Warrior – Some changes coming to Mace which doesn’t see a lot of use
Crushing Blow – increase vulnerability from 4 to 10 stacks
Tremor – velocity increased by 12%.excuse me? offhand mace has been THE meta offhand weapon since… forever?
proof the devs don’t really know much about their own product anymore.
That’s been evident for quite a while.
to late for me… I have seen 3 guilds guilds leave this game and I also left with my last guild.
I gave this game a lot of chances and the game fail me every time.there is no coming back now. not to mention that were playing a different game atm and having actual fun for a change. the last couple of month have been frustration free so… why would I come back here?
Soooo… why are you here?
@OP: It’s a good sign, for sure. Hopefully it means we start getting balance patches a bit more frequently instead of only with feature packs.
Gotta tell Anet that they are happy without them!
It can only be a good thing if anet is willing to talk about balance more and have more balance patches. 2 months between patches is much better than we had before.
Agreed – but – this is the best balance I’ve seen in an mmo. I hope they are introducing more skills or buffing unused skills rather than really impacting balance a lot.
Yeah…. that warrior adrenaline change. Best balance ever.
The current system is not fair since it’s random, therefore it cannot be fair.
Actually, random is completely fair. Every single person has the exact same chance, making it the definition of fair.

Subjective.
Thank-you for your masterful insight Sherlock. Subjective means it is subject to experience. Which even if true, is still not in your favor, as it is the opinion or a WHOLE lot more players that it isn’t fun to play against. Additionally, as there is both mathematic and practical evidence of its poor state, it isn’t subjective in the first place.
Did anyone complain about turrets back when they were laughably underpowered? What about necromancer minions? The ranger longbow?
No they did not.
Do they complain about them now that those skillsets have been buffed? Yep. Logically speaking, that means that whatever change took place in between those two points was to blame, and that overall the mechanics are sound.
Did people complain about Healing Signet before it was nerfed? Yep. Did they stop complaining about it when it was nerfed? Nope. Did they stop complaining about it when the entire class was nerfed? Again, no.
That isn’t proof, but combined with the hard undeniable math which shows how advantageous the signet is in any amount of passive play or stall of the fight by either party, it is good and plenty of evidence.
Besides that, anet doesn’t balance around “fun”
And seriously? Fun doesn’t matter in the design of a game? Could you possibly be more disconnected from reality in your defense of this mechanic?
It’s subjective because it’s your opinion that is not backed by fact. It has nothing to do with experience. Now, if you said in your experience, it’s not fun to play against a warrior using heal sig, then you’re starting to have the beginnings of an argument that works. The key point here is that this is an opinion.
You said specifically that it’s not fun to play against. Which literally means nothing to anyone else who plays the game because we all have different ideas of what’s fun to play against and what’s not.
I hate playing against mesmers. To you? Apparently 400~ hp a second is a huge barrier you can’t overcome.
And yes, Anet doesn’t balance around “fun” because as I said, everyone finds different things fun. I know you like to claim you’re speaking for “everyone” but I’m sorry to break it to you but you are not.
(edited by fellyn.5083)
warriors are fine really, the other professions need to be brought in line.
there are no warriors in the top 50 solo arena ranking anymore.
As has been said a hundred times previously, this has little if anything to do with how powerful healing signet is anymore. It is still one of the least fun thing to play against in the entire game, even when balanced or underpowered.
Subjective. As a person who played a warrior until recently I can tell you fighting another warrior using healing signet was not one of the “least fun” things to fight against.
Besides that, anet doesn’t balance around “fun”, which is, as I said, subjective.
You don’t like it and that’s fine, that doesn’t mean it need to be nerfed. Especially when warrior has received nothing but nerfs in the last 10 months and that still isn’t good enough for you (which is sad).
Adapt or get left behind.
But then.. anet listens to “feedback” like this. So you have a good shot at getting it nerfed, again.
(edited by fellyn.5083)
What if…and I know this is a crazy theory, but stay with me for a second..
What if people like to play what’s fun to them at any given moment?
I know, crazy idea. But I think I might be onto something.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/balance/SUGGESTION-Healing-Signet-change
The hits just keep on coming. We shouldn’t be able to heal either. Not only can we not have decent damage, or mitigate conditions because well, burst skills miss for the hell of it, but we can’t heal either. And we shouldn’t be able to run away as well. Because that makes people expend more effort than they’re wanting to, to chase down their free kills.
I’m glad I have an elementalist and guardian to play otherwise this would be depressing.
(edited by fellyn.5083)
Yes. They spent the last 2 years balancing warrior around adrenaline that didn’t decay completely 3 seconds after you exit combat and didn’t disappear into the void when you miss a burst skill.
And then in one single update they completely change how it functions without properly re-adjusting all the balancing changes they spent the last 2 years making.
It’s pure laziness and probably the worst so called balance change I’ve seen in my long history of playing mmo games.
Best case scenario warriors will be stuck in that position at least until early spring, when their next 6 month “balance” cycle comes around again.
The absolute worst part is that they have stated that they listened to feedback on the forums to make these changes. And when the average post on the forums is from some scrublord who refuses to adapt their game play and since they are obviously the best player in the game and got killed by a warrior then that means warriors are over powered. It’s easy to understand how they came to the conclusions they did when the feedback they’re taking ideas from is of that quality. And long story sort the warrior class gets thrown under the bus in the name of Balance.
Oh well. At least elementalist is a fun class. For now.
(edited by fellyn.5083)
11 characters, playing daily since release, never saw a precursor drop nor do I know anyone who’d gotten one by drop. That’s probability. Do I think it’s fair? I don’t know, I don’t really care about legendaries so even if I’ve gotten precursor I’d immediately sell it.
No, it’s not what you wanted to hear, but the system works. It’s based on extremely low probability meaning you might never get one while someone else can get 3. Tough luck.
So because you don’t care about legendary weapons and you’ve never gotten a precursor as a drop, the system works.
Well that makes all kinds of sense.
Theory is from AP rewards past 36000. Or maybe 33000. Whenever we run out of the other weapons.
So basically they are impossible to get right now and will remain so for the foreseeable future.
I think you probably spent far too much time stairing at that wall.
Different areas of the game cause armors dyes to look differently. Not sure why and I’m not sure if it’s on purpose, either.
Kinda over threads like this asking for rewards to be cheapened, even gargantuan ones like this.
Who knows what lies ahead? Maybe they expect this to be a reward for a mere handful of people still playing in 6-7+ years that played from day zero? Maybe they will offer up content, events or goals to lessen the requirements for such rewards in the future, like they did in GW1?
Maybe it’s only designed to be drooled over as one of the few rewards that will take a few years to attain and is truly for the devoted?
This thread just reeks of impatience over the fact something in this game is actually largely unattainable, even amongst the minority of hardcore players, with little thought to the fact it’s more than likely intended as a loooooonnnnngggg term reward.
I’ll never ever ever ever ever ever get it but I’m totally cool with that and games like this need such lofty heights and rewards imho.
Argument doesn’t make any sense for lots of reasons that have been repeated several times in this thread.
Also no one has said these sets are supposed to be long term rewards. Just people like you. The only reason they are ordered the way they are is because that’s how they were added to the game.
Ranger. Warrior is kitten probably until the next balance patch.
I think it’s scaling is bugged out. And yes I’m aware it was made a group event.
How about less focus on the gem store and more focus on everything else.
And good riddance to super adventure box.
Run dungeons. 1g+ per path per day and then use the tokens to buy armor to salvage for materials and sell them. In the grand scheme of things they are some of the more easily obtainable skins. Even if they are somewhat expensive.
I dont find the requirements insane. They are just impossible for the next 1-3 years depending if Anet brings an expansion or not.
Says the guy who has 24k ap and was able to play through an entire year of living story that is no longer accessible.
Its not my fault for playing since headstart.
I didn’t say it was your fault. What I meant was that you think it’s fine because you’ve managed to get 24k ap after a year of living story that gave out AP like candy. AP that can’t be gotten anymore.
Then there is also the fact that you have more than 5 times as much ap as the average player. And yet you claim it will only take you another year or two, if an expansion is released.
The argument literally doesn’t make any sense and couldn’t be further from okay. Why should we have to wait that long to get these sets of armor?
(edited by fellyn.5083)
A video of a guy who hand picked the clips in the video is the best warrior in wvw?
Cool story.
If you’re charr then you want cultural armor. They’re pretty much the only sets of armor in the game actually made to fit on charr. And even then they still have issues.
I dont find the requirements insane. They are just impossible for the next 1-3 years depending if Anet brings an expansion or not.
Says the guy who has 24k ap and was able to play through an entire year of living story that is no longer accessible.
It was actually in September of 2012 that they first said they were working on a precursor scavenger hunt. Which they later said they weren’t.
Then in July of 2013 we got the infamous “Second Half of 2013” blog post which said it was being worked on again, or at lest something similar. But later towards the end of the year they said it was being pushed back, again…
And here we are and it’s almost 2015… so yeah..
At this point it’s safe to assume anet doesn’t really care if it’s possible for people to make legendary weapons or not. It’s safe to assume that they don’t care that making the pinnacle of weaponry in their game is the most un fun, un interesting, and tedious thing ever put into a video game.
It’s pretty disappointing. So buy those gems and enjoy rng boxes with a chance to get some black lion tickets.
(edited by fellyn.5083)
If I had to pick one thing I would most look forward to in an expansion it would be new types of weapons.
Something anet has said we’d get in the past and like so many other things they’ve completely forgotten about. And probably intentionally.
Well somehow—iv reached 10k AP in daily’s—-pretty sure its a bug and submitted a ticket for it.
However, as I am now currently not gaining anything by doing dailies, its had an interesting affect on me, in that, I feel directionless.I’m not complaining, its their game , their rules, they can do what they want, which I accept. But I used to look on daily’s/ monthlies as a form of loyalty reward scheme. Now I feel like my services are no longer required>>. Guess its time to dig the garden!
The cap on daily ap is by design. There is one for the monthly too.
Who needs an expansion when we’ve got the Living Story giving us “an expansion’s worth of content” for free?
People that disagree that Living story gives anything like what they expect from an expansion.
If you look at what that segment of the player-base says they want from an expansion, you will see “Living Story” does Not meet this need.
Someone labeled it " Fan fiction" That is bad. Anytime the writing of a professional company that owns the franchise is compared to " fan fiction"… you have to question if the Company is actually meeting the needs of it’s player base.
We as a whole have gotten used to a certain cycle. Expansions 18 months to 2 years post launch is part of it.
NOT hearing about any expansion plans… leaves many players a Bit…restless. And if Anet cannot help, their eyes wander.
Asa their eyes wander, Anet faces losing players to competing MMO’s. That leads to a lower player base.
Maybe they come back, maybe they don’t. And before anyone says that " Oh, they will be back." Some might, but even World of Warcraft Bleeds players.
Anet needs to realize it is not immune. It will lose players. Then the only question is, can it interest new players fast enough to make up for the older players it loses that are getting restless for something new.
And then we get things like the New Player Experience…
For the most part the OP is right, conditions are extremely strong in pvp and have been for more than a year.
If you don’t have a way to clear conditions fast then you’re gonna have a bad time.
It’s funny that how effective conditions are is night and day in pve vs pvp.
owning chest piece of radiant/hellfire armor means you got one of the hardest to obtain pve skin in game atm, with quite a lot of effort behind it. dumbing it down would mean you need half of the ap you used to need, which would make it super easy to get.
And since you can’t use both armors at once, prestige behind it would be gone.
So no, i don’t want it to get super easy to get single set, i want it to stay this hard as it is now, so not every scrub who got not even 20k ap gets it.
You do realize that your argument doesn’t make any sense given how much ap the average player has right? The average (read: majority of) gw2 players have less than 5000 ap.
And anyone who started playing after living season one ended is at a severe disadvantage in terms of the amount of ap they can have. Putting these sets completely out or reach for them within the next 5 to 6 years. Assuming we keep getting ap at the same rates we are now.
Anet is now giving less ap per new achievement added to the game now than before by a large margin, as well.
There is also the logical argument. The only reason they are ordered the way they are and at the reward tiers they are is because that is the order in which they were added to the game. It also doesn’t make any sense that you have to get both sets 85% complete before you can finish either one. And lastly, why put assets into the game that maybe a generous 5% of the population for the life of the game will ever be able to get?
Reshuffling the rewards around changes nothing for 99.9% of the people in the game. You know, all the people you just called scrubs?

Between talk of guild halls and the possibility of raiding content being produced, who thinks ArenaNet has shifted gears towards a traditional expansion? I know it’s way too early to tell what kind of format release either feature could be exported to, but one can hope…
FWIW there is no actual talk of raiding content being produced. It’s only speculation by some people based on a job listing for anet.
And the job listing may not even be for GW2 for all we know.
“We will be discussing ideas around Guild Raids,” design director Chris Whiteside says in a post.
http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/10/03/guild-wars-2-getting-raid-content
If that’s not talk about raids, then what is?
Pardon me for missing a post from 23 days ago.
And that still doesn’t tell us anything new. They’ve said similar things for the last 2 and a half years.

They’re more than data mined, you can view them in the wardrobe.
You’re making a lot of assumptions there. For starters I don’t think Anet has ever acknowledged these sets are complete and in the game. I don’t think they were ever mentioned in patch notes.
If they can’t even do that then getting them to agree that maybe things aren’t in the right order is going to be impossible.
If Tripple Threat and Tequatl are going to be similar to what these theorized raids are then I don’t think it’s so good for pve.
Having a crap shoot if you can even get into the map instance to participate is not what I would call good design.
Besides that if they’re truly wanting that sort of content in their game and are just hiring for it now that means at best we won’t see it in the game within the next years. So it’s really not worth it at all to get excited about it.
(edited by fellyn.5083)
Wall of text crits you for 99999 damage. Try using the enter key once in a while.
But I digress. The key word that you used in the first part of that wall is want. Not need, but want.
Want does not make it okay to game the system and take short cuts because you decide your time is worth more than everyone elses.
And I’m still not seeing it. I do high level dungeons all the time on various characters and don’t have full ascended on any of them.
You are just basing your “reasoning” on wishful thinking, that is currently not consistent with facts.
It’s not wishful thinking, and it is consistent with facts. The entire AP structure was started without having the reward system in place at the beginning. When the reward system was implemented, they incrementally provided rewards. The wardrobe itself was a HUGE revamp of their approach to armor and transmutation. If those two examples alone don’t give you clear indication of what this company is doing, then you are just trying to argue for argument’s sake.
Therefore it follows that the content will come, but people just want to complain rather than realize programming can be adjusted, and not necessarily the way they prefer.
You dropped the “not necessarily the way they prefer” part. That was a significant aspect of what is going on in this discussion.
Let me try approaching this another way: would you rather they focus efforts on revamping the AP reward structure, or focus efforts on additional content that will include additional AP accumulation?
Restructuring the ap reward mechanism is simply moving some numbers and letters around in a data base. It shouldn’t take some one more than a few minutes in a day.
And you’re still over looking the fact that we’re getting less ap now than we did during living story season 1. I don’t have exact numbers but I would guess that for all 4 parts of season 2 released so far we’ve received less ap than we did for just one single release in season 1.
Have you even read this thread? The spacing of the armor pieces being 3k ap apart has nothing to do with it. It’s the fact that you need 33000 ap before you can finish one set. Followed by 36000ap to finish the second set. And the fact that it is currently impossible to do so.
Try reading the entire thread before making your argument please.
I’ve read every post. I don’t think you understand the difference between argument and complaining. Your complaint is entirely based on current in-game AP accumulation, with no regard for what Anet is most likely going to do in the future. My argument is that Anet has a plan, and that plan requires an increase in AP accumulation. Therefore it follows that the content will come, but people just want to complain rather than realize programming can be adjusted, and not necessarily the way they prefer.
Complaining? Not really. But call it that if you want then we can all ignore you from this point going forward.
The fact that they are 3k ap apart means nothing.
If it means nothing, what are you complaining about? You really need to think about what you are actually writing.
Everything I read in the responses point to impatience and “how impossible” to achieve these currently are, which is entirely “now-oriented”, but I plan to keep playing for a long time. Eventually, I’ll get them.
But even if they changed the system, people would complain about something else. Even if they fixed everything on everyone’s list, people would still complain.
Or, at least try understanding what’s being said. That helps too.
