Anybody else really annoyed by fire keep’s layout ? Just a sprawling, underground mess to navigate.
If 3 to 7 people doing things elsewhere are stopping your blob from winning fights and getting stuff done then your blob sucks and shifting blame won’t better your situation.
I personally find Rangers to be the biggest pain in the rear end. Engi’s as well because they’re just so darn tanky. Condi mesmers are easily ignorable. The rest really aren’t that spot light worthy IMO.
On a personal note, I’ve noticed that playing high risk builds are no longer rewarding. Being a player who can play a high risk build does not benefit you in any shape or form when put up against another tanky/easy to play build, and average player.
Also, watching fights from a few years ago, versus now. Back then fights lasted a bit longer with glassy builds and there was more though put towards cooldowns and skills in combat situations. Now it feels a lot more like “mash the keys to melt”. Less thinking more mashing.
But thats just me.
It’s not just you. The power creep exists, now it’s “somebody is gonna drop fast so rake your face across the keyboard the quickest to lessen the chances that it will be you”. Which really sucks because reasoning my moves is a big part of the fun.
Your “community” will be abruptly split when the next pairing is decided.
I shouldn’t be one to talk but don’t be such a negative Nelly. With the way people move around, WvWvW is already community. Competition has a more likely chance to thrive when the parties involved know each other. Emotional investment is something that MMOs need. This is what keeps people playing a game forever, not new skins tied to new currencies every two weeks. Personally speaking, the “Hey there’s SoAndSo, get em’!” and catching up/ friendly salt swapping via whisper moments were just too much fun.
I think the minimum rotation will likely be 2 weeks since it seems to require an update rather than a hotfix.
Also, I don’t think there’s much ‘strategy’ involved in snowballing objectives on a BL. Unlike EB, the home defenders are outnumbered 2:1 in an even match-up. Giving enemies a tower to treb from means a zerg has to respond as opposed to any possibility of a small-team taking it out.
If you’re referring to keep defense, then in a mode called WvWvW, I can’t think of a better time that a zerg clash should be necessary. Furthermore, the treb spots in Alpine towers all had counters that small man teams could use.
- NWT supply hut treb can be hit from the bottom of the cliff below by an AC
- NET was vulnerable to treb shots from NE camp or even near spawn (even without abusing spawn spots)
- SWT (Briar) treb spot was easily hit by Eles or an AC from below or a ballista in the ruins
- SET had no useful siege spots since a treb from Hills can hit anywhere inside
The tower isn’t the problem, it’s coverage. While a competent group can wipe double their numbers, if 60 man blob takes out your wall siege, you’re not stopping them from taking a keep with 10. So if you have no home border blob to split then you’re out of luck. However, there’s always the option to hit their to pull them off if you care that much about havoc squads and objectives.
Do we win something for the week now?
I think he/she means the Tracking Rewards
I suspected as much. IMO the reward track is OK. I can’t get excited for the smaller things that should have been implemented a long time ago. With all the account bound PvE only gear and stuff, I’m even less excited. I’m reserving a descriptor like “awesome” for bigger changes.
I’ve yet to see the benefits of the serving linking. When I finally get through the queues, it’s still the more of the same. Seige spam and engagement evasion. The kind of stuff that helped bump GW2 down to my secondary MMO.
Though the stab changes look good, haven’t had enough decent clashes to really check it out yet.
Do we win something for the week now?
To be fair, there are no WvWvW streams with hours worth of fights these days either :x
The power of friendship and PvF!
Stuck in queues? Come hang out. We have cupcakes and kittens.
Big changes, new faces, new experiences and lots of adjustments for everyone! Groups large and small are welcomed so don’t be afraid to reach out to a neighbor and make new connections for we are all children of The Mists. New commanders are encouraged. With a dash of patience and sprinkle of care, our new tags won’t be bags!
This part is for our new denizens of Yak’s Bend. There is no shortage of friendly, supportive players on this server however, like any other, it has it’s unsavory elements. To our fresh faced arrivals, if you see sketchy figures looming behind supply huts, peddling siege blueprints from trench coats and promising you a good time with their feel good candy, just say no! If you see something, say something. Members of this community are especially encouraged to try commanding and put their battlefield prowess on display!
Welcome to our creepily close family and we hope you enjoy it immensely! This has been a public service announcement.
:3
What? You have purple. That’s all you need!
Ok, I really don’t know if there’s an option to add colors or a plan to do so. But just in case, what would be on the wish list? Keep in mind the tag should be visible on the mini and world/overhead map, so it might be best to suggest bold, non-metallic, non-transparent-ish colors.
Hey Gaile,
I have a suggestion for commander tags. I think it would be a great idea to show the commander’s current guild tag when they are moused over on the map. See my little mock up (upscaled 125%).
And shapes. Come on Anet, gimme a baby quaggan head tag already.
Closed raid != GvG.
Just ask if you could run with them or find an open raid. No open raids? Might be on a crap server.
Well you just took all the fun out of that by giving me an actual serious reply. :|
Hey! You’re gonna sit in that queue and you’re gonna like it!
:D
If you’re commanding in big fights, you need to survive first and foremost. And I don’t think there is such a thing as too much HP on a Guardian if you’re going to be leading PuG groups instead of some specific team comp.
As a Gw1 player who didn’t follow the GW2 development close enough to know about WvWvW, I started out PvEing and stumbled kitten backwards into WvWvW because of map completion. I was tickled to find out that GW allowed me to run around and look for trouble like I did in open world PvP games I’ve played. Now WvWvW is all I do in GW2, been that way for years.
To be fair, map completion without any semblance of balance is not a good idea as I’m sure it’s chased away more people than it should have.
Anet has pushed out a lot of new changes with the newest update and are still live-beta testing a lot of it. Not to mention, we have more things coming to WvW come this Friday. I’m not saying that your problem isn’t a serious one, but give them some time to sort everything out.
As far as NA goes, I haven’t heard about any complaints of extreme skill or graphics lag since the update dropped. There were a few game crashes but they patched that up within a few hours of release.
Well you’re gonna hear about it now lol. I’m in T1 NA and my fps has tanked even on potato settings. I used to record gameplay in high quality and now I can barely just run the game on medium.
Maybe the crafting in this game should finally get tossed out or revamped. Due to other systems, a lot of the crafts aren’t worth crap apart from a few items (some foods and Ascended time gated mats) and only serve as gold sinks with mostly account bound carrots dangling at the end. I can’t think of any leveled crafting system in any MMO that I’ve played that’s as unrewarding and closed off. Let PvErs and their bountiful resource nodes craft food and let other PvErs spend their gold buying from them. Put level 80 account bound foods on a WvWvW vendor.
What’s your complaint here, that crafting is a poor system or that crafting provides items for both PvEers or WvWers?
Having that crossed system is good for the game. It adds broader value to both rewards from PvE and WvW.
My issue is that, crafting being largely useless aside, WvWvW players get the short end of the stick by playing one of the most high maintenance and poorly rewarded parts of the game and needing these items. Meanwhile PvErs have more access to the resources to make and buy said items.
As much as the developer likes to link WvWvW and PvE, item acquisition (not just crafting) leans pretty heavily towards PvE and that needs to change.
food isn’t needed to wvw though. same as ascended armor. those that think it is needed are the ones spending all the gold to buy it.
I usually check players food and if its condi I ignore those players so food puts some builds at a disadvantage :P
With that logic sigils aren’t needed either since it doesn’t stop you from playing WvWvW. Nevertheless, you’re at a disadvantage versus people who’ve made competent choices in sigils.
That’s fine if you have the opportunity to check every single player and decide whether or not to engage. This is not always the desire or even a possibility for everybody across the board so my point still stands.
I read up to the second “Q.Q” and stopped. Schadenfreude, feels good in mah belleh.

Search and Rescue range of 600 is fine for sPvP but too low for WvWvW with all the (more potent) AoEs and cleave being sloshed around. I’m fine with the increased CD.
Wells don’t need a nerf. They’re effective only if the enemy is CC’d, otherwise the targets can run out of your bomb. The issue the insane amount of CC in big fights and how often they land since the stability change. The HoT additions didn’t help. Honestly, in big fights, meteor shower is more of a problem simply because of its ridiculous radius.
You’re going to have to PvE your kitten off if you want a lot of the new gear, unless they changed that in this patch.
What is this? Am I having a stroke?
Man, you have no idea what your talking about. There are so many builds in use currently, our server cant even detirmen which one would be meta.
With the current trait system and the must have HoT trait line we have less builds. Fact.
I don’t know howto make someone do basic counting better…..
In my guild we currently have:
4 guardian builds
2 warrior builds
3 revenant builds, with another 2 in consideration
1 ranger build
2 engineer builds
3 elementalist builds, with 1 in testing phases
3 necromancer builds, with 2 more condi builds being developed
2 mesmer builds, with 3 in considerationAll those builds diverse in atleast 1 traitline, a full set of gear, weapons or utility skills.
And the thing is, those builds are optimized for certain parties/roles so none of them is inferior to other, if just put in right party and played in right style. So dont bullkitten me about no build diversity.
Any videos of those builds and comps in action?
Bahahaha now it all makes sense.
Will you pre-order the next expansion? [Poll]

Pre-ordering games made sense when games were hard copy only. Now with digital media being the norm, pre-ordering is just cash grab nonsense that gamers have been conditioned to accept. Anet has totally soured a concept that I was already uneasy with. Either have the resources to make a game and present what you’re offering or kitten off. Stop asking me to give you money on promises that you can later make a dozen excuses for breaking.
The point about regearing for HoT is something I can identify with. Roaming was already on the decline and it just wasn’t worth jumping through all the PvE hoops for the HoT stuff.
There are clearly people on BG who PPT. However, after near four years of imbalance, crap rewards and seasons burnout don’t be surprised that a lot of the people still bothering with WvWvW PPT only enough to maintain tiers and enjoy the accompanying player activity. I can see how the community’s indifference to the scoreboard creates bitterness in the players who are late to the party.
What does matter if roamers get to add more to PPT when winning the week is a laughable accomplishment the vast majority the time?
I think the mode has degenerated to the point where many people are only finding fun because of who they play with and thus tend to retreat into cliques. Being the player who looks for dependable map support and interaction is becoming less viable because well, people don’t care. Either take a break or make some friends that you can run with.
I tend to avoid pugging with guilds that have a closed off feel. It doesn’t feel welcoming and it doesn’t feel fun. The attitude of some WvW vets towards pugs are also pretty disgusting. Especially from those so-called “fight” guilds.
Hearing in TS “let the pugs die to cover our retreat” from a leet guild really torqued me off. The ego with a segment of the WvW population can really put people off.
I know it’s fashionable to say this about fight guilds but the inconsideration and entitlement goes both ways. With “pugs” it just manifests a bit differently.
Where did I say it was a fight guild (it wasn’t)? I just didn’t think that it was appropriate to not just say “were moving out”. After a few of those comments I just refused to follow them or go to their TS channel. I do agree a bit on it going both ways but if a large guild does something like this it can cause a rift between players or needless drama.
Given the conversation quoted, I made the assumption. But I agree, making the random people joining an open raid feel like useless dirt isn’t necessary or even useful. Ah the magic of in-group/out-group.
And here I was thinking YB was gonna start bringing the heat only to find out GS is on JQ now. Mildly disappointed.

I agree. If you have the keep, you should be able to use the waypoint. I was a little disheartened that after years, Anet still didn’t realize how much activity buzzed around protecting and breaking waypoints.
Wasn’t there an attempt to correcting the server statuses and transfers at some point? Or at least they changed how the population is counted and it doesn’t include PvE player who have never stepped in WvW. As a result depending on the activity of the server during the match ups the server status shows full, high etc and it changes over time rather than instantly.
Yeah but that was pretty ridiculous as well since not a single server was marked “low” even when they really should have been. Leaving new players to come to this sub forum confused and then annoyed when they learn that they might need to part with more of their money if they want active WvWvW servers.
I have to wonder if some people have gone bat kitten crazy. Unless Anet says that all they’re doing for WvWvW is bringing ABL back and not changing it for another couple years, then maybe you ought to chill TF out.
And Angel Heart, did you really expect a lot of people to read your forty paragraph posts? Get get a grip.

Eh it’s cancer forums lite. Better pvp in here than WvWvW these days.
Yes.
That said, we’ll be increasing the cooldowns on all tactics by 5-10 minutes. Also, once the scribing costs come down, as part of the april build, we can start looking at rebalancing their actual effects as well.
No.No.No. Don’t wait to address rebalancing. Please adjust following MINIMUM for april update:
1) cloaking waters & pirate ship- both need to be nerfed and cd increased.
2) banners – should be removed or nerfedAs you lower scribe costs the upgrade costs will decrease and more and more people will use these OP mechanics that interfere with balanced wvw.
I know you meant airship but if they add an actual pirate ship strike tactivator to bay I’m going to laugh myself into a stroke.
Is it dead? I suppose it depends on what you want from WvWvW. If you prefer big, casual pug fights then you should be ok. Though even those encounters are a shell of their former selves. Since I’m more into guild raids/small man, WvWvW has turned into a wasteland. As much as I’d like to play, I find myself only being to tolerate it. And even then for an hour or so at best.
Trapper runes?

Oh don’t worry I’m not dreaming of a map redesign. If Anet can’t afford to upkeep their trademark fashion wars for their supposedly massive PvE following then the scraggly handful of people left playing WvWvW aren’t getting massive redesigns.
HoT was not "half done" and my 3 reasons why

The opening post might as well try to tell people why someone is objectively beautiful. I’m one of those players who thinks HoT did not have $50 worth of content. HoT chiefly implemented new systems with some bare bones, heavily gated and stretched out content to test them and provide busy work. And with Anet’s history of unceremoniously dumping implementations for new shinier ones, HoT focusing on this means diddly to me. As a customer, I want content and I want it working properly. Thats all. I can’t play your future proofing and promises. It’s not content. I can’t put it any plainer.
I miss roaming ABL for the rich iron nodes
I miss roaming the ABL and murdering the people gathering the rich iron nodes.
@gennyt
Bingo doesn’t mean that a map cannot be altered to suit these needs,
Eureka!
If by altered you mean redesigned virtually from the ground up then sure! #keepHopeAlive
