Really, I’d given up bothering about weapon skins as I spend so little time using them.
haha, i don’t. i use my rifle more than anything else.
You must be using a really bad build. (Honest opinion)
I’d rather use a bad build with a cool weapon than a strong build with a boring weapon.
That’s why I’ll take flamethrower over 100b any day of the week.

Is pve of any consideration because pistol could use a damage buff, while most kits could use a support buff.
Maybe I’m out of line for suggesting that PVE engis want viable builds too

I’m not rezzing you OP, if you don’t bring self heals.
It’s the first step towards a trinity, with all problems associated to that broken mechanic.
Delayed content is eventually good. Rushed content is eternally bad. ~ Shigeru Miyamoto
First off, I hated trinity because it forced me into boring healing because otherwise I didn’t have a realistic chance at grouping or hour-long queues. In that time I can do 3 unpopular dungeons with unpopular specc in GW2.
It wasn’t even like healing nor dps nor tanking was ever difficult when compared to more difficult genres such as rts or zelda. MMOs are just easy games in comparison. I play them for the social aspect and trinity removes that by destroying all chance at grouping unless you’re an elitist.
What I do miss is synced day-night and fishing. There’s nothing like going out to a desolate lake in the middle of the night to go fishing. Just gives a sense of eerie and, in case of meeting horde, cameraderie.

Don’t use celestial unless you can really use all stats. That probably only goes for Engineers and/or very specific builds.
Depending on your profession, you’ll have different things appeal to you. A zerk set will always be of use though, maybe not perfect but always good.

one way or another, every item bought in the gem store was paid for by someone.
Neither gems nor gold are created from thin air through the exchange, they are all contributed by players.

Fastest AND cheapest does not exist. It almost never does. Fast comes at a cost in money, and cheap comes at a cost in speed. That goes for virtually anything in life. That being said:
- fastest: using gold for an ascended quiver or book. Will cost some.
- cheapest: using fractal tokens for an ascended capacitor. Will take a while.

The shell could remain there for decades easily.

I see it as working as intended. Drop percentages are the same, but the chance of those drops being blue/green/yellow increase as per magic find. How anyone can come to other conclusions, I don’t know but removing the percentage sign while keeping it functioning as a percentage is not a good suggestion imho.

A modicum of difficulty? Oh sweet Quag kill me now, this is completely against true gaming and GW2’s ethics. Brb quitting 9ever and devoting the rest of my life to crying on the forums.
On a side note, the last time I did this puzzle was on a character much larger than I usually jump with after two months between the last time I did skipping stones, and I did it the first try. It really isn’t hard. At all.
If that’s still not enough for you, Mesmers flock to the end to make money porting people up to it and it isn’t even necessary for the achievement. Although I guess even the illusion of minor challenge can scare some people.
Probably I’m just not good enough but I couldn’t manage it. The last thing I need is elitists telling me how easy it is. Sure you mastered it, but I didn’t. I would appreciate a bit of respect.

Clearly none of you have played a game with actual guild value in it.
If they’re seriously going to introduce guild housing, and guild events, and guild s/tPvP, how is the guild going to pay for it? Taxes… just like numerous MMO’s that came befor this one.
Hey I’m totally fine with guild leaders asking for donations. Often I donate cash for servers too. However I don’t want guilds to infringe on my gold income.
Secondly, guilds already have this stuff called influence and merits which function exactly like gold taxes in other games. As such, a gold tax is entirely redundant and shouldn’t be implemented. Rather, guild housing would become a new influence sink.

What should happen is a guild can introduce a tax and a percent of the gold you loot actually goes to the guild bank.

Game offers nothing that would convince me to play more then “a daily”
Not with my RL schedule. Doing the entire living story would take a week of focus, every single day. I simply don’t have that. As such, I’m very happy it got spread over 4 months so I could do it at my own pace instead.

Simply because it is the only true prestigious title, it shows you have mastered GW1 completely, and you’re not just another chump.I usually measure people’s experience and how reliable they are in the game by their achievement points (90% accurate), but whoever wears the GWAMM title so far didn’t disappoint me in a party.
Note: If they ever make a title for the legendary track, I’ll wear that instead / as well.
This basically describes why i’m wearing the God Walking Among Mere Mortals title all the time. There’s no title that comes even close to the Guild Wars dedication required. The HOM titles were mostly about money anyways, GWAMM shows dedication.

What would I remember?
Positives:
+ Well paced, I could finish each part in about half an hour. I didn’t have to clear my calender like Wintersday
+ Scavenger hunt quests. I like those for some reason.
+ Neat story progression that was visible in the open world
+ Extremely good dungeon
Negatives:
- Most of it will be gone.
- SAB interfered, and while I loved SAB, it was just too much grind. Couldn’t play both SAB and regular content in my limited schedule.
- To make matters worse, SAB was removed after a month …. incomprehensible. I don’t even have a full achievement for SAB.

The resource in this game is cooldowns. Someone who uses all his skills wisely is invariably better than someone who merely spams #1. And while #1spam can get you through all content, playing good will get you more and faster. 1. These %-buffs become worth it at certain breakpoints.
2. 150 power doesn’t always translate in 150 more damage, there’s a multiplier involved. For some skills, it only adds 30 more damage.
Case by case. Use your brain and don’t presume that all builds have the same reliance on raw stats.

We could learn that completely kitten economic models like communism could function in a world where money and work isn’t necessary for basic things like clothing, reproduction and shelter. GW1 is the perfect example, there’s no upkeep on playing which makes cosmetics the only goal. There’s no society more egalitarian than the GW1 community. There’s no reason to play except for play’s sake.
Other completely insane models IRL are anarchism and extreme libertarianism. There’s no government smaller than an MMO host. There’s very few rules strictly enforced by a.net. As long as you don’t infringe on the rights of others by botting or harassing, you won’t get banned. Apart from a few ground rules, society is entirely regulated by the society itself. IRL such systems collapse eventually.
In the real world this could work if food, shelter and reproduction were not an issue. Yes, reproduction is a core necessity in life to which most effort is directed once survival is guaranteed. These basic necessities undermine the viability of libertarianism and communism alike IRL because sooner or later someone is going to take control over them.
Extreme libertarianism lol, darn American founding fathers were completely insane I guess. You know libertarians are fiscal conservative, socially liberal right? You also understand that most political spectrums have libertarians as slight right of center? I suppose if you drove on the left shoulder of the left side the middle would seem pretty far away.
I’m as centrist/moderate as it can get. Most right-wing people consider me left-wing, and most left-wing people consider me right-wing. Funny
Nice how you completely missed me saying how communism doesn’t work either.
Than don’t open your post up by supporting communism out of the gate. I think you are confusing by accident. I’m glad you meant differently. However I would suggest reading the blog by the Washington post that shows libertarian approach that has lead to the success of Eve Onlines economy and game.
If you reread my post, you’ll see I didn’t support communism at all IRL, I only said it works in a virtual world because there’s no important things such as food and shelter that usually undermine such systems. I made the same argument for libertarianism which is equally crazy to communism. You’ll see i don’t choose between stupid economic systems IRL since neither works. In games, either could work though and that makes for some interesting case studies.

You can achieve most hearts by doing dynamic events near them (except for 2-3 out of 301 hearts) that’s also a fact.
Wrong. A quick look at the lists of hearts shows it’s more than “2-3”. Your “fact” is a joke.
More humorously, you don’t even understand the argument you are trying to defend. Vayne claimed my criticism of hearts was too harsh because he never has sto stop to do them – he just plays the nearby dynamic events, and that fills the hearts. In other words, he just ignores them. If the best thing you can say about an aspect of the game is that you can ignore it, it deserves to be harshly criticized.
Hearts are markers telling you STUFF HAPPENS HERE because vets from grinder MMOs couldn’t make up their own mind. They’re indeed the weakest part of the game because they serve one purpose: to guide new people towards events, the strong point of the game. This has been described on numerous occasions. You’re criticizing a system for working as intended …

Casual means putting real life over videogames. While that should be pretty evident and without explanation, it does warrant a few words.
Between a job, partner, friends and sports, videogames arguably have the least important position. Job and partner are almost required to have a meaningful life. Friends and sports keep you healthy in mind and body. So while videogames could be the #1 hobby, it still takes the backseat when those other things come up.
Last weekend my first nephew was born. I didn’t play for 3 days, didn’t even think of playing. Some times, I’m playing when my girlfriend needs me and I’ll just quit regardless of people I’m playing with.
For younger people this is different, but for me, casual means having a healthy attitude towards videogames.
I’m not beyond taking a week off once a year, just to waste it on videogames. That’s fun, it’s enjoyable. I love it. On the other hand, I’m not doing that every week of the year like I did back when I was 16yo.

Legendaries are one of the only Prestige items in the game.
Tier 3 cultural costs close to 100g per set, which is basically GW2’s 15k armour (GW1’s Prestige armour), whereas legends are more representative of Obsidian Armour in GW1’s language – still a prestige set, but unobtainable to the casuals or even moderately hardcore.
I played casually for over a year to obtain my Obsidian Armour. I do not want legendary gear yesterday either.

And the amount of bugs in this game, plus how slow ArenaNet is in fixing them, is not something you see in good games.
Actually it is.
Actually, it’s not.
Do some research on how many bugs still exist in GW2. Then drill down further and find out how many bugs still exist for each profession. How long has it been since release? We’re talking the type of bugs that any other competitor has generally patched within the first few months of an MMOs release. It is, in a word, ridiculous. I actually have not seen a game with more bugs than GW2 – Ever – That be the truth
Guess you didn’t play Skyrim…and that’s not even an MMO.
Or WoW and Aion. Those games were virtually unplayable due to the bugs at launch. Some weren’t patched for over a year. In comparison with WoW TBC and current Aion, GW2 is bug free.
If Omen.1879 claims he never played a game with more bugs than GW2, he simply never played an MMO before during launch phase. And that’s a fact.

Legendary:
Obviously. More is better. I will be glad when Anet adds some achievment what sort ppl who actualy craft them and losers what use dads credit card and buy it for gems. Other expensive weapons from MF also counts. What is NOT respectable for me:
- Fused weapons – I dont know why but everytime I see someone with them its just.. meh another kid with luck and father credit card wide open.
What if you gamble molten weapon or bought legendary with your own credit card? Why would I ask my father’s credit card when I can use my own just as well? It’s not like money is an issue for me. Given that GW2 is my primary hobby, I’m very willing to spend quite some cash on it.
Would you respect someone for having an actual job? Is your lack of respect for credit cards due to the fact you can’t spend that much money on videogames? Just guessing because you show a distinct lack of respect for people who actually support the game, while showing more respect to people who play 24/7.
Just to put in perspective because I don’t mean offense and that’s just what I read from your post. Could I ask how old you are please? That would define the context of your post and whether or not you deserve my respect.

Conclusion
Guild Wars 2 failed. By ArenaNet’s own definition of success, “Is it fun?”, the answer often is “no, it’s not”. Good for them that the community of grinders that fill this (and all other) MMO are not really interested in fun.
Calling the best, most fun MMO ever “failed” is funny. From this post on, I can’t take you serious anymore.
Sure, some minor issues. But overall, the game is very enjoyable for a casual, as grind free as it gets with a pretty good community. Unless you deliberately seek out the worst of the worst, you will never meet them.

I always wonder how the US manages to take ages to implement very basic stuff. Debating about whether something’s tangible or not has absolutely no relevance to the fact that a sale took place. As such, it can be taxed, plain and simple. Whether it should is another discussion entirely, but don’t forget that the government basically makes the internet work …

I usually tend to respect people with items I do not have yet.
In gw1, I respected people with koabd until I had koabd. At that point I started respecting people know me, up to the point where I had GWAMM myself. I respected r3 emote until I had it myself, then I started respecting wolf more.
In gw2 the same happens. I respected been there, done that, until I got it myself :p
Although vet items, I will always respect. Mad king memories, GWAMM in GW2, … that kind of items is something that proves a love for the game beyond mere grind.
