There are new living story POI’s though I am not sure of them all or if they count towards completion perhaps a wiki search can clear it up.

The new PoI’s in Divinity’s reach, lion’s arch, wayfairer foothills and diessa plateau are in area’s that count for the world completion title and do count. If you got those map completed before they added them to the game you dont have to re-complete it. If you hadn’t had them completed yet you have to locate these as well. The fact that they where added for the living story has litle to do with it. There has also been 3 new waypoints for guild puzzles that do count for completion

The Waypoints and PoI’s in Southsun cove do not count regardless if they where there with the introduction of the map or where added later.

Account Restoration Information and Mike O’Brien’s Article on Account Security should in my opinion be merged in something called
‘Afraid of hackers or got your account hacked? Read this!’ Everyone should read Mike’s article, but specially those who are in need of an account restoration. First of all cause they only get one restoration and second of all they have an issue with a hacker right now. Besides that seeing what happens when you get hacked and what things you have to go through are a good warning. So perhaps make one sticky for this. First explain what a hacked account is and what the consequences are (the image of getting to your character select screen and seeing them all naked works so perfectly, so maybe use that as an example??). Then continue with a link to Mike’s article to explain what people can do against it. after that start with a chapter bout what people have to do when they got hacked. Last chapter then can be bout account restoration.

Nope, the dragon ball achievements doesn’t count. The achievement can’t be maxed out right now. This is just the first part of dragonbash. The next part starts tomorrow and then you can max the main achievement and get the wings.

They have a sword over their head and marked on the map.

At the lower levels I always just buy a white coloured staff from a weapons merchant. All towns have them. Make sure you buy one that is off your level.

My advise for a new player is to buy all possible weapons for your profession (for the one handed weapons that say either hand get two) and use them to unlock your skills for all weapons. This is not only convinient for later to have it out of the way, but it also helps you understand the different weapons and their potential.

Later on you get them from drops and story-line completion. wich are better then the crafted ones. So keep switching them out when you go.

From level 40 upwards it gets interesting to craft your own weapon or to buy them from the tradepost.

One source I’m forgetting is karma-merchants. When you complete a yellow renown heart the guy with the symbol above the head becomes a merchant who also sells weapons and armor for karma. so it is worth checking them too whenever you complete a heart.

Ow and I hate the term Noob and prefer the term Newbe. Newbe is what you are. Someone who is new and has a lot too learn. A noob is someone who has been around long enough to have learned but didn’t and prolly never will learn. Thats a huge difference in my opinion

The location of the IP-adres is determined by a whois lookop.
This location is given by your internet service provider and is open for everyone. So to protect your privacy it is often a place nearby you, but not the same location. Most often that of the local datacenter for your provider. For example, mine is bout 100 miles from where I actually live.

So it isn’t as surprising and it could very well be you. But the distance is huge in your case so I would advise you to contact your provider. Explain that you are trying to play the game guildwars 2. Explain that it has a verification system on the IP-adress and that you want to make sure that the ip adress is yours and the location is ok. give them the ip adress and the name of the location and they can check it out for you.

again, this is not a bug. I’m not trying to annoy you but a bug is something that happens to everyone else in your situation and is reproducable. That doesn’t mean this isn’t annoying for you. If you are absolutly sure you have checked all you can ask support by filing a support ticket. They react in two ways. The first is that they are sorry that it happened to you and that they have fixed it. The second is that they are unable to assist you. The last is a cryptic way of saying you are missing an area, we know wich one but you have to find out for yourself cause thats part of the game.

By the way, it is against the forum rules to bump your posts by responding on your own several time. If you forgot something to say, please edit your own post. I dont think the forum mods will make an issue out of it, but still it is advisable to avoid those things.

There are indeed two major issues here.
First of all people calling people cheaters while they are not cheating but just using a game mechanic.
I remember recently that someone was claiming that a thief was cheating cause he wasn’t revealed when attacking. Myself and other have pointed out there that with the right weapon and traits it is possible to maintain stealth when using one particular weaponskill making it look as if he is cheating.

On the other hand there are people who are cheating and go through any length to deny it.

The forum Caedmon is talking bout is known to me as well. There is a lot of bragging going on, but what they don’t say is the amount of people caught, and where the claim didn’t work is a lot higher. There are bad people and there will always be people who won’t get caught. What is important to me is that there is numerous evidence that cheaters get caught.

All these examples show how convincing the story’s of the cheaters sound, but how easy support sees through the lies.

Your better off asking in the tech support section of the forum.
My answer there would depend highly bout your location and your internetprovider. The answer would be however to change your internetprovider.

This problem is a personal issue. It is not that everyone has this problem (im part of everyone and I don’t have it, as well as many others).

Even though your internet connection is good (and I believe you) you interne tservice provider is responsable for relaying your signal from your home to the arenanet server. They can relay your signal through very great cables and state of the art data center’s. They can however also redirect it through a steampowered modem in a Gulag in Central Siberia.

If this is a consistent problem, you can try to complain at your provider, but customer support departments are very good at blaiming it on others and not putting the issue through to a technical support department.

The only and best way to let your provider know it is their problem is to leave them for a proper one.

Your remark bout PoI’s in your original post made the impression you did’t understand the title and unfortunately your response isn’t making it clear either.

Also, if you understand that it is bout unblurring and has nothing to do with e.g. PoI’s, then do you also understand to concentrate on the area’s that don’t have map completion points in it??

Last remark. Do you know that Bloodtide Coast is Kryta?? cause thats a common mistake.

or to explain better. Sometimes they do, but not very often. Specially when you are posting a personal technical issue i nthe bug report section. You will have better luck in the technical support section. Thats where both players and Arenanet technicians are present to help you. The bug reports are being read and registered, but very rarely they comment on them.

If you have a support issue you can’t fix through the tech support section you can file a support ticket instead.

A thing you could try is running the game with the repair command line argument on.

This is not a bug.
This is a common mistake bout what you need to do for this achievement.
The confusion comes cause there are two kind of explorer achievements.

Been there done that – map completion.
This rewards you when you complete a map (getting all poi’s wp’s, hearts, skillpoints and vista’s). If you do this on every map you get the achievement and some additional rewards.

(area)-explorer like krytan explorer. You get this for unblurring every bit of the map and has nothing to do with checking if you got a PoI or a vista (you can get this title without ever watching a vista).

So thats your problem, you should not be looking for map completion points but for blurred area’s.

Best is to go to the wiki, look at the map-page (e.g. Queensdale). Understand that you have 100% mapcompletion, so you must have been to all area’s containing a heart, a PoI, a WP, a Vista or a skillpoint (keep in mind that due to elevation some unblurred area’s can be over eachother, also keep in mind that hearts-givers sometimes can stand in one area and the heart can be completed in another area).

Now if you look at the list of area’s in e.g. Queensdale there are 5 area’s with nothing in it (or only a jumping puzzle or mini dungeon) so 5 possible targets to check.

Windloss Delves (The skrittcave near Ojon’s Lumbermill Waypoint)
Lake Delavan (the water north of Ojon’s Lumbermill Waypoint)
Eastern Divinity Dam (the water to the east of Lake Delavan)
Beggar’s Burrow (The bandit cave north of Lake Delavan)
Demongrub Pits (south-east corner of the map, contains a jumping puzzle)

After checking Queensdale you do the same with the other maps. Keep in mind that towns like Divinity’s reach or Lion’s Arch can have the same blurred area’s.

This is as Malafide pointed out a mechanic of the game and not a game bug. It happens when you kite an enemy too much and too far. To answer Malafide’s comment first.

I disagree with you. This is an important mechanic. Withotu such a mechanic you could have the following bully-scenario. Imagine a thief, kitting bout 15 enemy’s around the map, then pulling them to an ignorant player, and at that moment the thief goes into stealth leaving the player with all the mayhem. The thief could do so cause of cheer ‘fun’ to bully others.

You seem to me a sweet and kind person, but unfortunally not everyone is. This kind of mechanic is important. Besides in most situations it isn’t hard to keep this in mind, just remember to kite in circles.

To the OP. As explained this is an important mechanism but not in most personal story’s. It isn’t however a bug and the priestess is actually very doable. So the answer is to not kite her too far. You can always post in the personal story segment to start a discussion bout the need for the anti-kiting mechanic in personal story lines but it is as intended and not a bug.

You can indeed ask support, but as Myxo said it is a slim change you will get success.
Support claims that they can’t create things on the live servers (though some people claim they can, this is the official standing) so it might very well be that they can’t help you. They have two important reasons for this.

The first is that a wild aquisation on many MMO’s is that the owner is manually controlling the market with dumping items on it. With arenanet not being able to create things on the live servers this is a ridicilious claim.

The second reason is that you can’t fix stupidity. The major problem is that arenanet doesn’t want you to play as much as e.g. Blizzard does. Giving in to these kinds of requests cost time and money. Knowing a thing or two bout support, a request like yours will cost them bout 20 USD (personal, infrastructure, help desk office space, cleaners, IT-department) . With a sub-free model this means they have to sell half a game to make up for your stupidity.

Blizzard has subscription fee’s so they have much more resources and a reason to keep you happy no matter the costs.

So with encouraging people to be more carefull they are making sure they don’t have to spent money on some peoples stupidity’s.

You can file a support ticket, but if you get a negative reply you know why

First off all you have to understand two things.

The first is that Arenanet doesnt has the capacity to test every piece of third party software themself. So they don’t have time to investigate them or to tell you if something is ok or not.

The second problem is that any program that alters something ingame can be marked by the system as potential harmfull. Botting is a serious issue and arenanet has detection software for bad third party programs in place. When using third party programs you have the risk of being detected. After then a GM checks the evidence. If he thinks it is harmfull he will suspend. Though this is not happening very often you should be aware of the risk.

Following the guidelines, it is however ok to use a program with the soul purpose to make the red circles more visable for colourblind people.

So bottom line is that you do so at your own risk.
If you do so make sure it is a client side tool that either alters the screencolour or like texmod alters the grapics in the client.

If I remember right this effect is an AoE effect that is announced by the circle, giving you time to dodge. Hoewever, the event can easily be overcrowded, making it so laggy you’ll never have enough time to dodge. Best way to avoid this (or atleast try to) is playing on minimum settings.

Thing is, GW2 is free to play, and they are delivering more content for free every month. This means they have to sacrifice. Testing and adjusting looks for all facial looks is incredible time consuming, so they prolly have an anti clipping system in place. if a helmet is sclipping through the beard it must be blocking it from view, so remove it. The speed in wich they have to deliver more free content results in this.

I did the achievement when the event was around. but I heard reports from people who still had the item, but not the event done, that the plants are still there but not doing anything.

The whole idea bout holliday-events is that you had to be there when it happened. I would love to experience Woodstock in 1969, but that was 9 years before I was born and it will never happen.

Just feel asure that Arenanet will keep on developing new content wich will likely include new jumping puzzles.

And hey who knows, maybe the tower will be back this halloween. It is in the end the night where anything can happen right??

There is some critisism bout the way dialogues are brought in the main game. Arenanet agrees with that and is currently experimenting with a more cinematic approach to the dialogue situation. This could been seen in the instances for the living story since march this year.

The change is that instead of the the headshots of two heads talking with a general back ground, they are providing cinematics where the story is told in full screen cinematics a bit like in gw1

Farm like hell and concentrate on crafting materials. Everything that isn’t soulbound can be stored in the bank. These things will stay with the transfer giving your final characters a good head start.

First remark:
You can add images in here by using an attachement to your post. If you have to use outside hosting sources, please udnerstand that the game and also the forum is ment for 12 years and older. The hosting site you used is showing 18+ adds. It is unneeded to use a source like that and inapropiate for this whole report.

Second remark: This happens actually a lot with any head item. My main character (a female engineer)has beautifull long red hair, but when she puts e.g. on the Witch’kitten she suddenly appears bald.

It’s a long standing bug but I think Arenanet is aware of it. I think they are trying to avoid it as much as possible, but they can’t always avoid it. The dragon helmet jaws would havehad clipping issues anyways. and the clipping avoid filter is very likely causing this.

Hello, for some reason my daughter’s account did not receive her dragon helm box. I logged her on today (she is away at Nanas!) to get her the big boom in the city achievement. The bar filled like on my account and my wife’s account and we got our floating treasure box, but this did not happen on my 7 year old Daughter’s account. Is there anything u can do? Did you check if she allready has the achievement ( big boom in the city). There was a bug on the opening day that people in overflow in lions arch got the title and the reward before schedule. So it might be that she allready got the achievement and the reward not knowing what it was??

I have 100% on two characters, but both started showing 99%. It was the new POI in Divinity’s Reach, bottom right part of the city.

This happens all the time when a new PoI or WP is added to the maps needed for world completion. However. If you have completed the map before the addition of the waypoint/PoI you never have to go back, you wont loose your title and you won’t loose your star.

To top that, if you have finished divinity’s reach before the update on jun e 11th you dont need to get that PoI for the completion of the title/rewards/star.

Bottom line, map completed is map completed forever.

No you can’t. It was part of the living story and has always been announced as temporary content. It might be that some content goes on repeat. But in this case i doubt it.

If Cedo’s trick doesnt work. It also happens that when going through all maps you forget to check one map.

Go through this list please, print it or write it down and strike it out when you have checked each. You don’t have to visit each map. if you mouse-over you see if you got 100%.

First thing is wether your in Europe or the rest of the world. This decides wich servers exist in your timeframe.

My personal advise is to go for a highly populated server. The reason for this is that GW2 is unique in the way that loot and rewards are shared. So there is no issue having a lot of people around and the game actually encourage you to play with others.

Personally I’m on the european server Gandara. The main language here is English and having guested on other servers I think the population on Gandara is even more friendly then elsewhere.

This is also the wrong place for this thread. The place where it supposed to be and where most people are reacting is in the technical support part of this forum.

As stated many times: Do not make duplicate tickets. If your ticket is unanswered after 72 hours you can post the ticket number in the designated sticky and the support liason will take a look at it.

Most important thing to understand is that it is only done once in the life time of your account. This is therefor a good reason to review your online security. The warden’s greatsword is actually for level 80, but there is also a level 60 variaty.

They are cultural weapons (meaning they are made for e.g. the sylvari, though other races can use them too). Considering the price compared to the stats they are considered to be mostly cosmetic.

What people therefor do when below the required level is to buy the weapon (with karma) and use a transmutation stone or transmutation crystal to transfer the skin to e.g. a level 5 weapon wich you are allowed to equip. Keep in mind you only get the looks. the stats will be the stats of the level 5 weapon.

There are transmuation stones (gold) and transmuation crystals (blue). The gold ones work for weapons (and armor) of level 79 or below. The blue ones work for all (so also level 80).

The stone you can buy from the gemstore, they are a rare reward for daily achievements, they drop from black lion chests and are a reward for completing mapo (doing all hearts, skillpoints, vista’s, poi’s and waypoints). They are rather common.

The crystal you can buy from the gemstore and they are a very rare drop from black lion chests. They are a lot harder to get.

All temple karma vendor’s sell it. You might be not looking good, its called spineguards and the icon looks like some leather straps.

The karma merchant at the gates of Arah doesn’t sell it, even though he is considered almost the same as a temple karma vendor (although he isn’t at a temple)

First of all a small remark bout the language. Arenanet can legally close down anyones access from the server whenever they want. They don’t have to give any reason to give donw an account. So at the moment you want something from support. There is an saying that you catch more flies with honey then with vinegar.

As I understand it right your friend has an issue with support that he disagrees with a decision to terminate his account. Both the language your friend is using and the fact he is making more then one ticket is not the way to get things done.

This is how these issues are handled.

a: file a support ticket. Best is to have an un-emotional formal approach and ask for the reasons and to reconsider the decission.
b: support answers you. It is ok to re-open a closed ticket if you have additional things to add.
c: if at a certain point support is not going to reply any more and you still disagree with the decission you can post here to ask an arenanet official to review the case. Please understand that this is not a right you have and your request to review it can be denied.
d: If the review isn’t made or the outcome is negative there is nothing you can do.

You have off course always the right to ask a laywer for opinions. Cause you are chinese and Arenanet is an American company it is important to find out wich laws are applicable. You are not allowed to use a service in the USA, by the owner of this service also in the USA. That means in this case American laws are the ones that count. So you need an USA laywer.

USA law can differ from state to state, but in this case you need a laywer in the state of Washington cause thats where Arenanet is located.

The importance here is that you paid for the game but you are not paying for the service. So basicly access to the service is a free service wich gives you limited rights compared to a paid service. Even with a paid service you will very unlikely find a judge that will decide to force Arenanet to give you access.

So the only thing that you might get done with a case is that you get a refund of the money paid for the game. This will depends highly of the age of the account and how long it has been played. Any account older then 2 months will very unlikely get any refund. Accounts not that age might get a portion of the purchase money back. Keep in mind that Arenanet has the full right to exclude you from their service, and therefor it is unlikely that any judge will force arenanet to pay the expenses of laywers and the trial itself. So you will very likely loose money.

1: Do not use MF gear in dungeons. It is something that is considered not done. You are performing less (so your partymembers have to make up for that) while you are getting better drops.

2: When running dungeons for money use the dungeon tokens (except the ones you need for your gift) to buy exotic greatswords to throw them in the mystic forge. When you didn’t get lucky on the greatsword in drops or in the forge and you have everything else. Keep doing this till you have the money and then buy it.

Yeah. If a person deletes all their characters they can transfer to any non full server in the same region (North America or Europe). Don’t have any soulbound items in the bank. If the character is gone, you can’t take them out or delete them.

Your wrong on two points Astral. When deleting all characters you can transfer from NA to EU or from EU to NA, just as in a paid transfer. You can delete soulbound items in the bank if you dont have that character any longer. Just drag the item outside the bank window. In some cases you have to type the name of the item, but it will be destroyed.

Maybe you should realise that this game is never officially released for the Mac. The mac client is still in the beta fase and it might be that it will never be supported. Most games dont even run on the Mac, so be happy you got atleast something that works for 99% correct.

Something sounds not right here. Missing money and stripped characters usually indicate a compromised account. Refunds permanently close accounts.

You should speak to Customer Support about activating a new account.

This indeed. Your story isn’t adding up. So best is to open a support ticket to ask them for assistence.

Also keep in mind that if this happened in september 2012 you will NOT get an account restoration. The simple reason is that they didn’t implement this system until december so they don’t have data bout you from before the incident.

I understand your dissapointed, but please don’t blame arenanet on this or call them money hungery, when they have made a state of the art game that is better then many other mmo with monthly fee. It’s unfair.

As stated in this thread (I bumped it up to the front page again) you can change your emailadress by filing a support ticket. Go to https://en.support.guildwars2.com/ and ask a question. In this sticky you find more information of what to include in the ticket.

There is no automatic option to do this. You have to contact support so they can check manually you are you.

If you prefer, you can always talk to support in any of the official supported languages (French, Spanish, German and English). So it doesn’t need to be done in English.

They didn’t follow the ISO 639-1 language code. The confusion with some of the 639-norms is the difference between 639-2 and 639-2 and mostly the inconsistency’s. This makes it confusing.

In ISO 639-1 and 639-2 Germany is called DE and DEU. So thats very consistent. France is FR and FRA. So also very consistent. But Spain is ES and SPA. So in here the ISO-norm isn’t consistent. This makes that the 2-letter code for Spain is also used very inconsistent.

And I’m going to have to outright call you out on the claim that GW2 lore only calls Abaddon a fallen god. Because it calls him dead too! In more than one place.

Er… Trahearne was talking about the events of the Exodus, not Nightfall. “Very little remained” was referring to the knowledge of Abaddon in history.

(Fun fact: on a quick GW2W search, Abaddon is never called a fallen god – just forgotten or dead).

I would agree with you – and if it were before Jeff’s statement, I would be still – but by now I think it’s rather proven that Abaddon is deader than dead.

And just because you can see it in your own fantasy, doesn’t make it canon. That only makes it fanon. And despite being a writer of fanon myself, I keep a fine line formed between canon and fanon.

P.S., I hardly consider myself the “biggest authority on lore” and I am hardly insecure – if I was insecure, I’d actually be working to agree with everyone, not ensure that they get the facts where there are such.

I’m not going to react to the (lore-related) content of what your saying. You are getting a good amount of people here who had enough of your ways. On Reddit people expressed this. On the Wiki you have a 6 month ban for not being able to communicate with people. You have a lot of respect for your knowledge. But many people rather see you go here. Just as you have been forced to leave the wiki.

I know this sounds harsh, but if people where saying that bout me I would try and do my best to change, but you seems to be so uncapable of selfreflecting it seems to be a lost case.

The buying of the account is totally separate from the use of the account and the creditcard-info isn’t stored in the account.

You have to let this friend make the account himself. If you don’t do it you actually risk what your are trying to avoid: Account ownership dispute.

After bashing my head with you personally, seeing how others have issues with you, considering your 6 months ban on the official wiki in conflicts with people and being annoyed to the bone with your attitude I will try once more to help you on a path that your knowledge deserves.

Firts off all let me tell you that I envy your knowledge,especially when it comes to lore. You have the biggest amount of GW lore knowledge ever alive. I don’t give compliments easy, but you can take this in your pocket. Your main issue is however you approach it too black and white. You often don’t see possible reasons why even arenanet officials are saying what they are saying. Lore is important in how each and everyone of us live the game. My eyes are different then yours and we also have interpretations. For me personally are things I experience in the game a lot more important then things outside the game. For me personally the second in line are the books and lore articles. Third in line are statements of individual people and last are personal interpetations.

But for each and everyone of them I am always critical. I don’t know the video interview you are refering too, I don’t have a source (and I did search both in wiki talk pages and youtube and guru for a link). So I have to believe your word. I don’t however have the power to understand the context in wich he said what he said. I know a lot of people here are declaring Zhaitan not dead. Though they might have that fantasy (and in many cases hope), there is little proof to support it. Maybe (again i can’t verify that) back then a simular discussion was rising with wild assumptions how abadon was going to be the thriving force behind future stories, as he was i nthe past. Maybe the dev in question was so sick and tired he said what he said to get through to some stuborn heads. Context matters too.

Don’t make the same mistake you made too many times allready. Enjoy your status of the biggest authority on lore, but also give others room to breathe. You don’t have to prove yourself, so why so insecure????

When playing my asura, my camera is zoomed in much more then on my norn or char. This is more fitting to the experience and also gives another feel for the game. So it makes me see my weapons, effects like footsteps, and all other things perfectly (I guess cause im still working on a legendary, but it goes with everything else like armor and weapons. So for yourself it will be easy to see it and enjoy it.

On the other hand. Part of having a legendary that I actually find distastefull is that people want to brag around with it. the way some people spent hours and hours at the tradepost to make profit over the back over others is in my personal opinion disgusting. It makes a legendary weapon shine less cause its less proof of being an outstanding player. So I will wear my legendary /when i get it) with proud knowing for myself that i didn’t do things to get it I find personally distastefull. That doesn’t mean that you are not allowed to brag and many people do get a legendary for the reason to show they have a bigger……(well i have to watch the faul language filter here). And I actually understand why.

So if that is important for you, yeah any weapon and armor set including a legendary weapon is more visable on a bigger race then on a small Asura. I was playing with a friend of mine today who has an asura warrior at low level. She told me she had some issues understanding the class. So the first thing I tried when playing (and observing her) was what weapons she was using. I could see it was onhand/offhand set, but i really had to ask to ping them to know what weapons she was using (I was on my big fat bulky norn btw).

have you tried (re)-visiting the chantry of secrets. its a known issue that you get the chest when you enter it.
