WP’s video’s are a bad bad source for lore. He is a nice story-teller, but he mixes his own fantasy up with reality, making assumptions that turn out to be wrong etc.

A good way for lore is by reading the lore pages on the gw1 wiki and the gw2 wiki and specially the timelines.

When the game was released there was and still is a main personal story (green). This is the main story and shows in green letters at the top right corner of your map and thats what your supposed to do.

The living story shows in yellow. You can do that at any given level, but only during a short period of time. The main purpose for this is to provide people who finished the main storyline with things to do while we wait for the next expansion.

The Braham storyline was introduced in march and was taken out of the game in may.

So you can’t do that anymore.

Braham at Cragstead is part of the living story. This is a side story in the form of temporary content.
This content is in the form of yellow text. You need the task in green text. You can find it on the top right corner of your screen. The level 50 storyline is called The battle of Claw Island. However this haven’t to be done at that level, so you can be ahead or before it

It is no problem to sit on your karma. I think its likely that in future expansions they add more karma items. They also announced more legendary’s and maybe you like them so much you want one of them.

Rune of Divinity is too general. A rune like e.g. Rune of Vampirism is in my opinion a nice one or off course the Rune of the thieff.

The Rune of vampirism steals a lot of health, makes you deal more damage and brings a fail-safe for when you get on low health.

I see someone in LA writing in map chat that they’re selling some items and taking orders for others. If that was against the rules, I’d expect they’d be long ago banned.

All the other things you listed are allowed.

There is however an advice to sell as much as possible through the tradepost. With guildmembers and people you know it is something else. But don’t spare the listing fee if it is just someone in la mapchat. There have been scammers among them (promising to sent you an item if you sent them the money first and never sending the item back) and support can’t do a lot bout them.

A rollback takes some time. The reason is that they want it to be done as secure as possible. If an account thats still unsecure gets a rollback they actually are giving the hacker the same stuff again. That is the main reason they only do it once.

The rmt-websites have been selling items like ecto’s and even precursors and legendary’s. This is as illegal as sending gold. The TOS isn’t limited to only gold but any ingame item thats traded for real world valuables. Besides that. Arenanet doesnt need a reason ever to terminate your account. They can do whenever they please.

So selling 100 ecto’s for real world money will result in the same punishment as selling 178.5 gold (current market value of ecto’s) for real world money. the result will be a life time suspension. Don’t fear the system when you are going within the rules. If they make a mistake they will rectify that.

a keylogger is an hidden piece of software that records anything you type on your keyboard (like accountnames and passwords) and send it to the one who programmed the piece of software.

The major problem with is that people got hacked, see that, change the password, but the keylogger logs the password you are typing in and so you are hacked again. Cause you only get one roll-back it is important that you remove this kind of malware before resetting your password and asking for a roll-back.

You friend needs to file a support ticket. Check this thread for how and what he needs. Obvious he doesnt have the serial. so leave that Blank. Support will ask him several questions in addition to verify ownership. After that he will be given control back into the game. After he has done that and verified with support that he is secure again he can ask for a restoration. This is a one time offer per account. So if they can restore him they only do it once.

Just look at the ruins in Ascalon, and specificly how many off them are standing sideways. That ruins become ruins is only logical. That some are half sinking in the ground is normal as wel. But why e.g. all ruins are on a hill, and all are tilted as if they where build on flat terrain could in my opinion only be caused by seismic activity’s. Im not ingame atm to make a screenshot, but just look from the TP in the black citadel to the west at the ruins of nolani.

The change in ascalonian terrain ocurred due to the searing 250 years ago. It wasn’t seismic activity, it was huge crystals of death falling from the sky, altering the terrain.

Nope. See included screenshot of ruins in Rin in GW2 (all tilted) and the same ruins in POST-seering Rin where they where damaged, but standing upright.

If you don’t believe, me go to GW1 and replay Nolani academy mission. I just did to check. Not a tilted ruin in sight.

Also note that the entire landscape contains much more hills.

Last remark. I did use Rin and Nolani as an example, wich we never visit in pre-seering.

These kind of geoligical changes (obvious caused not by the seering) don’t normally happen within 250 years unless there is seismic activity

The temple of grenth in cursed shores needs to be uncontested. Then all Grenth-statues in all off the 3 Orr zones becomes uncontested.

You can always guest on a server where it is uncontested.
For EU-servers that is Drakar Lake (DE) (see this for the current situation

NA-server currently has any server uncontested, but you can keep checkling this

But if I remember right it doesn’t have to be uncontested. Grenth only gives a continous poisened effect. Conditions are no direct damage, so it shouldn’t interupt the communing. The foes off course have to be taken care off. I remember avoiding them though by coming from the other side.

Well I agree on the pact. But that doesn’t mean that trahearne has to return (for long). I hope Arenanet listens to all the citicism and writes him a glorious but quick end off him. Yip, that was totally unrelated and it was more then just buying cheap stuff off a merchant. It was an exploit where you could buy certain ingredients from a karma merchant, craft them into an item wich sold for money to a merchant again. On itself that wasn’t a problem. But you could make bout 50 gold per hour (getting karma, getting the ingredients, crafting and selling). if you campare that with the shortest dungeon run (wich you can only do once per character per day). This takes 9 minutes (CoF path 1) and rewards you with roughly 1-2 gold. So even if you have enough characters for it available this still only give you 12 gold per hour.

So the people who got banned where deserving it. They only got a pardon cause it was the first major exploit.

To the OP. Do not try and hide it. The exact detection system of suspicious transactions is unknown. So it might be that they will see it anyway. A GM checking you might then falsely interperting your ‘hiding’ as doing something illegal. Just sent the money and you will be ok. Worse what can happen is that you got wrongfully suspended due to a human error. These things are resolved within hours after you report it.

A boon on yourself isnt a condition for your enemy, some boons are dealing damage to the foe, but most are only slowing them down and not hurting them. A boon is a protective effect or gives you a boost. It isnt that an ele or ranger doesnt deal conditions. but they don’t depend on them and you don’t need to plan them.

Off course what Danikat is saying is also true. If you are attacking a foe who has 25 stacks of bleeding on him (e.g. in a DE) , it is good to know that any other bleeding you put on will be a skill wasted, but it isn’t a big deal either if you do.

wouldnt call the alternate paths in queensdale jumping puzzle false. most have a bonus chest so i normally pick them up anyway.

The best healer is the elementalist, but the best supporter is the guardian. The engineer can be a bit of both.

afaik all classes use boons and conditions and play an important role. First I don’t think you understand the difference between boons and conditions. Basicly they are opposites.

A boon is an effect that is helpfull (protection, healing, faster running, blocking knockdowns, etc) where a condition is an effect that is harmfull (burning, bleeding, poisoned, immobilized, etc). Thats why the boons are yellow coloured and the conditions red.

So it is important to be able to deal conditions to others and attach boons to yourself.

The elementalist, ranger and guardian don’t have to pay much attention to the conditions they are dealing. They deal them and they deal them well, a condition enhancer trait can help, but it is not required.

The Guardian is very much depending on boons. Like I said they are protters, helping the party to survive longer and keeping everyone alive. They do so by attaching boons to themself and to partymembers. This is generally done through shouts. So you use the skill ‘stand your ground’ and your character shouts it. Everyone in your area is getting the boons retaliation (returns next incomming attack to the foe) and stabillity (no knockdown or stun).

So for a guardian concentrating on protecting it is important to look at those boons. A good guardian uses boons and shouts when needed and not when the skill is available.

The engineer is the oddball. The reason is that they are the special ops and can fullfill almost any role. The amount of attention you have to pay on boons and specially conditions depends highly of the role your playing.

normally Arenanet doesnt replace items if there is a user error. In some very specific cases they altered from that position. Those where as far as I know different then yours.

More damage: Flamethrower. The reason is that the flamethrower can maintain a constant burning effect.

Pistol maintains a permanent set of 2 stacks of bleeding. but bleeding is stackable till 25. a stack of 2 will do a lot less damage. The other skills on the pistol (assuming your dual wielding) are all short duration effect (2-3 seconds) with a long recharge. nice but not very impressive.

Besides that, the main condition (burning) on the flamethrower is applied as AoE (everything in the line of fire will get toasted), as where the bleed from the pistol is single target.

That is the main reason I mostly play rifle/flamethrower.
The flamethrower is a very good AoE/condition dealer with limited control mechanisms (a true nuker) where the rifle is very good at CC-ing one or two foes (e.g. when fighting a veteran).

Pistols are to me more of a weaker version of the flamethrower.

Nope!
A high value transaction marks your account as suspicious. This means nothing more then that a GM will investigate the transaction and the origin of the gold. If you are innocent you will not get banned.

However. The GM’s are humans and can make mistakes. so it is possible that they check a marked account and suspend in error (a so called false positive). In those situations you can ask and appeal, and if support agrees that you are innocent you get reinstated.

Given the amount of suspensions being given and the amount of appeals visable here on the forum, the amount of false positives is rather low. Also keep in mind that a good portion of the people claiming this are actually guilty and just try it for the sake of trying.

There has been some discussion with the support liason bout the amount of false positives that are tolerable. She acknowledged that the goal should be to have no false positives at all (even though that is practically impossible). She also promised to start an internal discussion bout the procedures in those situations.

I have the feeling that the amount of false positives has been dropping since then. There has been lesser reports of people here claiming they where falsely suspended and reinstated later.

Jumping puzzles can only be found by exploration. You know when you did a jumping puzzle cause you made it to the end and you have found a chest. You will get an achievement (if it is your first time).

The wiki has a complete list of all jumping puzzles. You can view the list by typing in the game /wiki Jumping puzzle
Vista’s in generally are NOT jumping puzzles. There are however some Vista’s on top of a jumping puzzle.

Some jumping puzzles are pretty easy to recognise but others are really good hidden.

I’m pretty sure this isn’t a bug and there is never said that being downed is or should be an equal fight.

Indeed. It is not allowed to give away accounts. If someone wants to give you an account it should be in the form of an unused serial code. The reason is that your friend agreed to the TOS and not you (and also broke it).

Therefore it might be hard for support to help you.

There is at the moment no 15% tax, but a 10% tax (shown in the prjected profit) and a 5% listing fee. So the total amount to sell something is 15% of the price you are selling it for.

At 50% health and below she will go into stealth wich heals her. The stealth has a short cooldown of 45 seconds.To get her out you need to put the 5 sparks back in the center. after this the 45 second countdown start. If you don’t deal enough DPS to damage her more then the amount of health she gains during stealth you will never get her down or even below 50%.

This is often called the bug described on the wiki. I don’t know bout the bug, but I personally have never witnessed it. I have seen the effect described above. Many times, using some damage booster was enough to get the ball rolling till she was down.

I was leveling one of my low levels (my ranger who is a Norn) and found someone in my bed in the homeinstance. It turned out to be (Deputy Mira).

I might be mistaken but shouldn’t she be in my home injured and resting after I resque her from Claw Island??

Kryta never has been a big seafairing nation in my opinion. And given the fact that during GW1, the ships in Lion’s Arch all had sails with the mark of Orr I would think that it where originally Orrians who wheren’t caught in the cataclysm and started working for the krytans.

Just to help the support liason a bit. Do you mean a review in the form of an appeal cause the ticket isn’t handled properly (in the eyes of your friend) or do you mean an appeal cause it wasn’t asnwered at all in the 72 hours max handling time that support burdened themselfs with??

Thank you. What I mean is that what you call a simple redesign is actually the hard part. It is the making of the model. The colouring, paterns and drawings are the easy part.

It is the reason why it was available in gw1 and not in gw2 (that there are 5 races needing 6 models for each armor set instead of 2)

Magic find does not give an higher change of double drops. This has been claimed, researched and been declared a myth. MF has no effect on fine material drops, whatsoever. if there is an effect notable it is a negative effect.

If you want to claim different then please do what the people who researched it did. Kill 10,000 foes with and without magic find and keep track of all the drops.

You can do it for free (but with a penalty as well): place all non soulbound items in your account vault including all money, weapons and armor (sell if your must), delete all your characters, free transfer. Off course this penalty gets bigger when you progress in the game.

I truly don’t see the S/d as op, only as mainstream. That means the average joes who are okayish in the game use it. A d/d thief is still very vialable, but it takes a bit more time and effort to make it really good. Off course the backstab abillity is gone, but that was OP and unfairly balanced. Playing the game shouldn’t be the same akitten a button and win. Every possible tactic should have a counter. This is now the case with backstab.

B ut that doesnt make d/d thiefs useless. They are still very good. The s/d might be easier to play, but the d/d can excell more (if you are good).

This is not true. An armor in game is a 3d image not made of real fabric. So you need 3d images for every 6 and every race. Now for Norn, Silvari and Humans, the difference are so minimal you can almost fully use the same model. For charr and Asura you need totally different models. So to do this they need to design 6 models per armor set. With 8 professions, and your wish to add 2 per professions this means they need to make 96 new models.

Although I like armor and shopping for my armor, I do think that every profession and style can get the armor they like, including some really goof-balls. I rather have them invest time in other things.

Not all the tickets are 4 days old. the first 6 digits are the actual dates.
So his first is from the 6th (3 days ago). the others are from the 7th (2 days ago) and the 8th (yesterday). It is the first sign of something what we see happening here a lot. People who are not being truthfull to themself and to us bout the reason of the suspension.

They did tell him the reason and it does effect him cause it is what Arenanet is accusing him of.

I may sound harsh here, but the twisting of dates is a sign of trying to make the case shine more in your borthers favor (not saying that it is your fault or your borthers btw). An important warning bout that is to not do it. It will not do you anything good.

The support liason dealing with these issues is a very nice and warm person, unless you try pull her some trick. Then she is straightforward and direct.

If your brother did what he is accused off he will not get anything done from support. The system is very clear and there is no grey area. In such a case it is futile to resist.

Now. If your brother has questions bout the suspension (when it is for using a third party program, they won’t discuss the evidence) or wants to appeal the decission he has to wait for support to handle it.

Due to the discovery of some now third party software, a lot of suspensions (rightfull ones!!) have been handed out and this means that the team that has to review them is busy.

They do their best to answer your brother within 72 hours. If he didn’t hear in that amount of time you brother can tell the support liason this here

If you don’t udnerstand how the game mechanics work, then I totally udnerstand why you don’t get as much t6 matierials.

But to explain why magic finds doesn’t work. To start a quote from the wiki:
’ Magic Find is an attribute that increases a player’s chance to receive higher-quality loot from dead foes’

Quality is here a game mechanic, that is bout the colour of the item. I’ll ignore purple and pink colours cause these don’t drop from foes. The list in increasing rarity is:

brey (junk)
white (basic)
blue (fine)
green (masterwork)
yellow (rare)
orange (exotic)

Magic find doesn’t alter the amount of drops. But it gives you an higher change of getting exotic, rare and masterwork drops. This also means you got a lower change of getting junk, basic and fine drops when going for magic find.
Tier 6 materials are dropping from foes as blue items (fine) or from lootbags (white). This means that Magic find (slightly) decreases the amount you will get instead of increasing. Besides that, with magic find you kill slower.

The second thing I want to point out is that at the moment the problem is that arenanet kinda killed the farm-chain in crused shore. This is considered a bad idea and that is what should change!!!

All in all a bad solution for a problem that exists only cause of a very wrong decission by arenanet. The pertinent waypoint farm was not harming anyone and people where playing the game as intended. The lyssa temple farm was an issue, but not this one!!

You don’t get a champion troll every 10 minutes (not 5). But every 10 minutes there spawns a troll stone. If someone is curious enough to pick it up, a champion cave troll comes and attacks you. Guess we are very curious people to pick up the stone all the time. Pavlov anyone??

The problem is that people don’t read warnings. No matter how big you make them, or how many times you need to click them away.

I’m sorry of your loss, but you where stupid. Don’t blame that on the game. The term ‘Unique’ is clear enough.

If in an item’s description is something I don’t udnerstand (and it is of significant value). I would always type: /wiki unique to find out more bout this.

I know it feels harsh and cruel, but best place to direct it is at yourself.

Although Arenanet loves and promotes fan made artwork. The problem with this however is that it is not allowed to trade an ingame item (gold)for a service outside the game (artwork).

How can anet check if you delivered the artwork to that person??? They could easily claim that you never delivered artwork, but that you delivered US dollars.

Simplesimon’s tip bout the gemcards is the best solution here.
