The problem is that the IP-adress of the phishers will change all the time. This is cause they are actually using hacked computers. If they see that they don’t have enough fish to bait they move to a different spot.

So not really worth the trouble I’m afraid.

Also please don’t rush into a restoration. Make sure you ask support first to help you get full control over your account back and make sure you have done your best to make your online security secure again. You only get an accountrestoration one time. If the hacker can still (re)take control over your account you will just give him all your items again and you will end up with nothing.

It’s better to take your time to do it good then to rush things.

First off there is nothing wrong with the ele’s DPS.
This is a gear/trait/skill problem

Second off all. The staff isn’t the best DPS-weapon for the ele, it’s a AoE weapon, but for direct damage you prolly have better results with dagger/dagger and even scepter/dagger.

Furthermore I would ask you to make notes off all your stats (gearpiece by gearpiece) and tell them here. Also make a note off the skills your using and how you have your traits set up (both the traitlines, and the points in each as the chosen trait effects).

Most important thing is that you only get a restoration once. This means you have to make sure that your breach of security has been sealed. You say you know your mistake, but it can never hurt to re-evaluate your whole security. Up until now I’ve been salvaging everything possible, so I guess I’m stacked with stuff I don’t even know why I have it.

Some other questions I didn’t think of earlier:

1- Living story

What exactly is that? Is it content only for this patch? Does it go away and never to come back? (comparable to episodes in STO)? Also, is it only for level 80 players?

2- Personal story

I’ve done a bit of the story and it is really cool. Is it better to wait to complete it at maximum level?

3- I’m running around as an Engineer, and I like to use the dancing flamethrower combat style :-)

Actually what that means is I have no freakin idea what I’m doing most of the time. I ride with the flamethrower, the flame-turret and the scrap mine thingy (Charr racial).

So I do pretty decent delayed damage to stuff in the word, and I believe I need to focus on gear that has condition damage right? I also chose to focus a bit on thoughness, because the traits where you get 200 extra TH while wielding it sounds nice.

1: living story is indeed temporary content. parts of it might be repeaten (e.g. annually), but since the game is less then one year old we don’t know. It is designed for people who have beaten the game to give them new things to do, but as a bonus they making sure that lower level’s can participate. for example last month the living story was in a level 80 area, but everyone who went there below level was buffed till 80.

2: No, you can do the personal story whenever you want. Just understand that you can’t do stories that are (much)above your level. So if you don’t want to break the story with gaps where you need to level up, you might want to wait.

3: My first character to level 80 loves her flamethrower. Though some people say the grenadekit is better, I find the flame thrower easier to control (grenadekit uses ground targets for all skills), besides that it looks awesome!!

Well, you can’t guest from EU to America nor can you move only one character.
So you will have to move servers in order to play on an american server.

There is a free option to move, but that would mean deleting all your characters (save important stuff in the bank).
When you have deleted them you get the option to select a new server when you make a new character.

This. Just a small note. afaik, you don’t get an option to select the server when making a new character then. You still need to go to world selection. The charge for the switch will be set to 0 though

To make video’s of the gameplay you need a screencapture program

I personally use Fraps. These programs record the video and audio of everything your doing. You might want a video editing program to make some post production (e.g. when you do a jumping puzzle and you fall down halfway, you can cut that part out).

To make birds eye view in the game you need a third party software that alters game mechanics. Although your intentions are ok, the program can be used to create an unfair advantage and therefor it is unwise to use such program. So it can get you banned. If you mean the tradepost?? this isn’t a server bound bug, but a very well known bug, wich happens mostly in overflow. Try going from lion’s arch to e.g. Divinity’s reach and the problem should be solved.

The game uses the awesomnium browser for the tradepost. Although it is the best there is for these kind of things, it is very crappy and buggy. I’m afraid there is not much to bout it unless Arenanet use their limited budget to make a windowless browser.

I met some very nice people during the various travels of my character, and they bombarded me with terms and information, making me more confused.

1. Do you need a crafting profession to get exotic gear?
2. I finished an area the other day (100%) and got rewarded with some yellow items. So i finished another area today, but this time i did not get anything. Why not?
3. Someone talked to me about legendary thingies. Do you need special crafting training for this?
4. When i get items from killing things i usually salvage it. Would i be better of selling it?
5. Im on the gunnars hold server, is there a way to find a guild ingame? Like a guild browser thingie?

Cause most posts have some different views I’ll just give mine one by one:
1: no, even though a crafting professions can craft exotic gear, it can also be bought from the tradepost, get it as an (ultra rare) drop, get it for map completion in the highest level area’s, buy it with karma from a special merchant or get it with repeating an explorable mode dungeon (the dungeon tokens can be traded for that).
2: You always get something for finishing an area (a map). What you get depends on the map and the level of the map.
3: as mentioned, if you are interested in a legendary then study the wiki page first. it is a lot of work to get a legendary and it requires skill in almost all facets of the game. This includes having maxed two specifick crafting professions (wich one depends on the legendary weapon you are aiming for), Keep in mind a legendary weapon cost you many hundreds of gold, and maxing a crafting profession (and not farming) only 20 gold. So don’t worry bout it too much right now. The items you need to craft are account bound so can be done later on with alts anyway.
4: I sell most items and there are many opinions bout this. My advise is to sell everything that isn’t yellow or orange colored. also don’t sell the salvagable trophy’s and the things you can deposit as crafting material. Salvagable trophy’s are great for doing daily’s and even monthly achievements. Yellow (rare) and orange (exotic) items. First off all check if you can use it yourself. Second check the value on the tradepost. If the value is below 30 silver then salvage it using a master salvage kit or a black lion salvage kit. if it is below 30 silver then sell it on the tradepost.
5: no. Ask in lion’s arch (make sure your not in overflow) or in the guild recruitment section on this forum to find a guild.
6: no not your latency, but you can see your fps, just press F11.

Well, thanks for calling me a liar when I didn’t have all the information. He changed the MOTD and announced the new name of the guild, despite the actual name not having changed. I figured he could change the actual name of the guild just as easily. But hey, apparently I’m making things up now.

Please read back up what I am saying and reconsider your response. I have nothing to win or gain here. I’m no party. But claiming he has renamed the name while he didn’t is actually against the Rules of conduct (harashment). I’m not calling you a liar. I’m not defending the person who did it. I wasn’t there. All I’m saying is that Arenanet’s tools are limited in these situations cause they want to give guilds as much room as possible to govern themself (this includes making mistakes like a promotion the majority off the guild later on regrets). Arenanet will also approach this impartial. Making your case more shiny will make you like a liar indeed. Combined with possible! other things they can see in the logs and your not telling this might mean a decission your not going to like.

Youi suggestion mentioned no limitation to sent to people in your friendslist. implementing a system to check wehter those people also have friended you makes your suggestion more complicated then needed imo. Leave the friendslist out and you have my full support :P

You can’t rename guilds (only support can do that and they do that if the name is inapropiate).

A good advise is to not let your case shine more by making things up here. Support can see all and takes all in consideration. be honest and truthfull but nothing more.

The suppression is meant to go against spam. So you suggestion for guild is a good one (if people dont like a guildmember spamming them, then report to the guildleader. if he/she is the spammer or doesnt care you can always leave). My suggestion for partymember is good as well. People in a party agreed to all to be in that party and can leave when they want. Friendslist is more complicated cause it would mean the real spammers would be able to add you to their friendslist and then spam you anyways.

It isn’t a matter if me or the developpers think what this person did is ok or something they find good human behaviour. The matter is what they can do bout it. To get the person suspended it has to be proven that he didn’t do it cause of a conflict or a disagreement, but that he did all this with the goal of taking over and robbing the guildbank. This is a hard thing to proof from my point of view. As for the robbed items or giving control over the guild back the leader. They might don’t have the tools to do so. I know they don’t have the tools to get the content of the guildbank back (or they must have recently got these tools). I’m not saying this to say what this person did is moraly ok. In my country there is a saying, being right doesn’t mean you get justice.

1) I’ll spare the math but It would take our company about a year, with everyone dedicated to testing 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, 50 weeks a year to get as much testing time as happens in about an hour in the live environment.

Or just one public test server. But why spend resources to do that when you can get away with using the live servers as your test suite, right?

Some of these bugs are simply so obvious and immediately apparent that one is led to think that there is no testing whatsoever prior to deployment.

I have played games (with monthly fees and more resources) with these public tests servers wich had as much bugs as this game and more. Besides that, the reports there have to be checked and tested as much as others. It is my experience that this only clutter up too much and will stand in the way of progress. But lets have a look at the major dragonbash bugs.

getting achievement and reward too early cause of entering overflow: No overflow on a public test server.

Mango-food exploit, miniature exploit and lightning hammer exploit. All three are found by bad people who ruin the game for others. the kind of people I definitly don’t want on a testserver.

PoI in Divinity’s reach: ok this prolly got filtered out.

Bottom line is that a public test server cost money and resources. The reports on a public test server cost money and resources to check and verify. This game doesn’t have a monthly fee. The games with a public testing server do have that. And even those games have almost as much bugs as this game.

So public test server: waste of money, specially for a game thats sub-free.

Don’t get me wrong, I understand you are upset and I’m certainly not saying it is ok what this person did. But the question remains unanswered. Did he cheat to the promotion or was the person given the trust? If it is the later I am afraid that this is a misjudgement and therefore internal guild-affairs. If the guy cheated and tricked himself to the position then there is a change they will suspend him. As far as I know, support has no way of getting the stolen items back. I have seen reports of guildbanks robbed by hackers. Support simple doesn’t have the tools to get the items back.

The thing is indeed that you need to ask support.
Keep in mind that support doesn’t interfere with internal guild-affairs. So it might very well be that support decide that they can’t help. As I understand it wasn’t a new member, but someone who earned the trust of the the leader to be promoted.

The stacking won’t reset untill you rezone or be downed. Switching weapon doesn’t remove the stack. So basicly it is useless in the situation you are saying. If you switch weapons often however and the stack is important to you it might be a good thing to have two.

The critical hit needed for the sigil of fire is activated with any critical hit, regardless if it is the main hand or off hand weapon.

This is a known spelling error. Personally I hope they keep it. I use this trident myself and I love the anamoly in spelling. The thing isn’t hard to get your hands on so, if they do change, it please only do it for new drops.

I have to dis-agree here with you. It highly depends on the kind of I5 and the kind of memory. But I’m playing with a budget system on full graphics while only having problems in the really really busy events where people move a lot. This is in the middle of zerg’s in WvWvW and in the high level events.

But for example a static behemoth fight runs smoothly, prolly cause the people mostly stand still and don’t move that often.

That is not true!
It’s a bug and you don’t get a ban for being a victum of a bug, even if the result is positive. If you could do this on purpose and if you did so you on purpose it would be exploiting a bug wich is suspendable offense. In this case the bug shoved it in your face.

It is not Arenanet’s policy to refund or replace items in case of a user-error. But sometimes they do. To make such a request you can file a supportticket

yip, to have longer lasting speed you can use elixer B, but that has a 40 sec cooldown for 10 second speed. You also get a toolbelt skill though where you can toss the elxier before you for another 10 second speed (also 40 second cooldown).

But speedy kits is enough to get a constant speedbuff if you equip/unequip a kit all the time.

Yeah. Cloak and dagger cost 6 influence for 3 seconds stealth. together with the melt with shadow’s trait you can get that up to 4 seconds. Use infusion of shadow’s trait to gain 2 initiative (basicly only making the cost of the skill only 4 influence). With the patience trait you gain another influence point within those 4 seconds of stealth. This means the effective cost is 3 influence for 4 seconds of stealth. You always gain 3 influence every 1.33 seconds. So in those 4 seconds you also get those back, meaning you can spam the skill constantly to deal damage when cloaked.

You can utilize more traits to gain more initiative so it would be easier to maintain the stealth.

There is off course a difference in importance between Caithe and Alainn (both silvari, I forgive you if you dont know the second one). But importance is ever changing. a month a go people would rate Captain Magnus the Bloody-Handed as low-importance. But now he had an important cameo in the end instance of secrets of southsun cove and also he is important in the dragon bash festival, his starwill rise. This can easily decline if he is moved back to Crow’s Nest Tavern and isn’t used for months after the dragon bash.

Who is more important? John lennon or Justin Bieber?? I personally would say John. But I know a good amount of hysterical teenage girls that totally disagree with me.

You won’t find a server with lower ping.

ping is decided by the path your provider takes over the internet to connect your pc to the gw2 server. This can be over a nice thick wire with state of the art technology, but they can also decide to put you through a steam-powered modem in the midst of syberia.

The path is decided by your provider (through automatic systems btw and depending on how many other people are doing the same thing), but the source is important as well. All Northern America servers (default for Australia) are in the USA. All European servers are in Europe (Germany to be precise). This means that if you are currently on a NA server you could try to use a paid server transfer to an EU server and you might have better ping, but thats a gamble, there won’t be a difference with any other NA-server.

This will likely not be solved if arenanet hosts a server in your country either. If your provider decides to relay your signal through a kangaroo-manure powered modem in the australian outback, it won’t do you any good either.

So what to do??
The problem is your service provider. You can ask around but there are australians playing the game perfectly. As a customer you will likely wont get anything done by your provider. Most customer support departments are trained to sent you away with a fairy tale. If you get lucky and get through to technical support you are the only one and they need more examples.

The first thing to do is to go to the sticky in the tech-support section and explain there. If this doesn’t help you, then all you can do is ask yround and change to a provider that can deliver you a connection to Arenanet thats good. Distance on the internet isnt an issue. Capacity of the chosen line is.

Ye, the ele is squishy. I started with one as well. In the end she turned out pretty awesome and happy, but I must have spent a fortune on repairs.

What I did for money was: I used the deposit crafting materials button all the time to save inventory space and i used every gathering node I could find. Every time I needed a book or I needed a new set of armor I would sell all my gathered materials. This brought me to 80 with all books. The final gear I brought with karma (exotic) and my ele is now awesome. But I have to say, compared with my engineer and my guardian it was a pain. (I actually had to take a break halfway to step away from her, and thats when i leveled my engineer to 80. Loyalty to a character is important and I went back and got her to 80 as well, but you might want to try it if you have so much trouble with money cause of armor repairs.)

Indeed this belongs in the technical support area. However. Your hardware looks ok, so it should be a software issue. As this isnt a regular issue with the game, I suspect an direver update causing these problems. Maybe go through the history of the drivers, and most importantly the video card one.

No there is not. It is also disallowed to transfer an account to someone else. The person making the account and agreeing with TOS is the de facto owner of the account.

What should be done when giving someone the game is that you buy the game, and recieve the serial code. This code you then give to the person who you want to give the game to and this person has to create the account.

In this case it is likely that support can set it straight, but accountowner disputes and hacks are the main reason there is no service to change the emailadres yourself.

This is not an issue with your account. The errormessage indicates that your computer currently can’t reach the login server.

They’ve been nerfed to make other races to feel better by removing things from the lore, like they are no longer credited with creating the world.

However, controlling the elements, having power over your soul, having their own realms, and also having the ability to give magic or seal that away from every single race is something that is definitely something. This means they aren’t just powerful magic users but control magic itself.

Also, they are immortals (can’t die naturally).

But.. he got killed. Kormir absorbed his power, but didn’t become him.

Kormir absorbed his power, but I’m not sure if he died. He could’ve become just powerless. And he could’ve been put in some kind of slumber like Dhum, just by different means.
I think we don’t have proof, beyond reasonable doubt that he died when we struck him down.

The cinematic actually hint that he indeed isn’t dead. This is what matters in my opinion:

I don’t think it is equal to Dhuum either. Dhuum got sealed away (and re-sealed). Abaddon is different. He got robbed of all his powers. What there is left of him is unknown.

We all know Gaile is a kitten. Nice, cute and hugable most of the time, and ferocious when needed.

An account issue means what it means. At the moment Arenanet can’t verify that you are playing the account you bought. They keep it vague on purpose so you are forced to talk to support. They can and will give you more details what the problem is and when the account issue has been resolved give you access back.

In other words. Please be patient. Support will contact you asap.

The last update has added a new PoI in the eastern commons in Divinity’s reach.

This seems to be unreachable at the moment. (several threads in players helping players, but nobody found a way).

This is currently stopping people from map completion and even world completion and should imo be fixed asap. I suspect it has to do with future content for the DB-fest, but I don’t think that map exploration parts should be locked out for even a day!!

So please consider this and place the PoI closer to the gate so it can be explored from the outside.
