range attack of any kind will kill any necro
necro doesnt have range weapon – staff
so thief with SB and burst at the right moment with blind spamming can counter it
ranger LB etc..

the main idea for the necro is they are good point holder with DS second health pool. so if help comes in time it will be hard for you to take them

if you going melee than go warrior with lots of cc. but other than that dont or spam blind

if i go necro i hardly see the condi guard come to do some team fight against me as he know i can be more painful
while i am trying to push the fight to him with transfer.
but nevertheless with good burst a smart condi guard can control the point and take 1-2 downs. but also a power guard as well. just bait the defenses of the enemy and burst

regarding burn on guard
i duel dragon hunter burning build with my p/p thief with almost no condi cleanse
if you dodge the right skill its a secure win
if he sneak on you with JI out of nowhere and you dont have cleanse rdy you are doom to die
the average i get stacking versus burn guard is 3-4 stacks which just generosity cleanse them
but when 2 burn guard JI to me i am dead

regarding the OP i think its more L2P issue when to dodge PF or other skills.
burning need little but less staking maybe 2 on PF and not 3 etc…

from what i can see is you probably pass the PF too many times and get 3 stacks of burning on you

with average 3-4 stacks on you doing 1.3k dps
and probably lack of condi cleanse at the right moment

if you got hit 5 times than definitely take more condi cleanse utilities

you also forget to compare some other class endurance regen
engi 50% if traited
revenant 25%
etc…

so basically we got 1 dodge more but less regen so engi for example has also 3 dodges in longer fight….

but also consider
dmg on dodge – like a warrior
perma swfitness and mobility cleanse on dodge
conditions on dodge
which are nice things too

i tiried to do split and rotation video under 15 min and its so hard to put it on 15 min . because there is so much to tell and explain

i play mesmer, thief, necro. know well guard and ranger also
win rate 55% (i think the last time i checked)
i am with the mesmer guild [OMFG] (teacher rank as i like to do)
can wisper me while i am online . like most ppl do and i glad to help
i use to do wvw a lot and gvg but the last past year more time and effort goes to pvp

p/p thieves are more or less useless, if you want this playstyle use a ranger, its much better. Everything is working against thieves. I didnt complain about the thief state much, i most times disagread on the thief is dead stuff, but this is just stupid.

maybe so. p/p is useless cause of no escape utilities or evade skill and no stealth abilities

maybe the stealth and dash will bring it back

ranger cannot burst like p/p thief. sure he can block and disengage better but this gonna change in few days .. we shall see…
also this is the reason anet state they gonna rework on the p/p . cause no one is using it atm.

Are you serious?

So far no reveal skill is being used neither in PvP nor WvW for a single reason – you have to sacrifice important skill for that – mostly survival one like stun break, condi removal etc.

If Anet won’t rework Revealed system and properly adjust it to current skills, then it’s a no go.

i think as more stealth abilities coming we will se more reveal trait /utilities being used

maybe i am wrong but who knows atm.

atm no skill is being used cause only at the beggining of the fight the stealth is being used by the whole team usually on mid fight. but consider ranger trapper stealthing to far to decap or guardian . maybe we will see more tactic game of silent hunter submarines games.

Necromancers are the only profession with self inflicted conditions, a trait for more self inflected conditions and multiple weapons, utilities and traits to transfer those conditions, so yeah, it is a profession mechanic. It’s designed to work that way.

They weren’t the only ones with revenant, but ANET scrapped it saying it’s a bad design but left it on necros GG

revenant has no condi transfer only copy. and also lack condi cleanse only resistance

on my pvp version i state i can stack burning for 4.20 sec with 40% burning duration
so in theory i should stack 8 stacks of burning

only manage to do 6 top and on average 5 stacks

same with 65% burning duration i couldnt stack 9 only 6

so i think you wont be able to stack actully 12 stacks maybe 8

and dont forget enemy is moving blocking evading etc…

define you role in a team

holding far/close long enough till helps comes?
support your team in 4v4, 3v4 etc…?

your build is easily countered by dd ele, engi (sometimes) and good thief in 1v1

in proper pvp team fight there is no bunkering role per ce

there is basically 3 roles
1. dmg dealers (roamers usually) thief, mesmer
2. sustain – dd ele , engi, warrior , guard, necro
3. support – staff ele , shout guard – usually more bunkers ones as they are hard to kill. but ele can be celestial and hold fine points while support

sure you can take 3 roles and make them 5 roles but you get the point

so you build for condi mesmer which is bets like as sustain. hold close or far mainly. in team fight yo wont do much good unless you know what to do and to whom.

focus is great on point just check for stability before use. also great reflect
boon share abilities and nice might stacking and boon to share with team
dont underestimate you sword AA – remove boon and you got some distortion with it and can help with immobilize if needed
your ressing ability is amazing with 30% faster ress with feedback bubble

as p/p use this combo

steal will bring you back 2 initiatives , daze and with mug heal you and do dmg

so when you get +8 initiatives points use steal PB and unload

you will blind do dmg and daze in melee range . they will back away and not you….

and with p/d i like the most this combo with steal and #3 shadow strike which puts you in range again

i can say i feel this way when playing the p/p set as ppl get rage when they get rekt if i +1 and sometime even 1v1 like a mesmer or warrior

i can say the only hard part is to find those +1 as i know if i get targeted i am in big problem so must to disengage which is my next problem

Like somebody else has mentioned through these threads…. this won’t work well for p/p because most of it’s damage comes from Unload unlike the other build’s much more potent auto-attacks.

with stealth p/p will never be like d/p as d/p use all his initiatives wirh HS+PB and use BS and AA which are not costing any initiatives while p/p burst comes from unload.
the stealth is great for reposition and sneak attack which can do 3-4k dmg .

i fought against an engi with 3 block skills, stealth so i need some time to do the same in some other way. the is a reason why you dont see anymore s/d in pvp

also stealth gives us more tactic gameplay

stealth give you the ability to reposition fast and sneak attack which does mini unload and doesnt cost initiative
without stealth we are easy target

What you are saying is true, but I don’t think the idea of P/P is to be like D/P where you rely heavily on stealth, in fact the new changes they brought to daredevil traits and the ones currently in testing are showing clearly just that intention.

And with the new buff to damage on Unload I think there should be a better utility use/need for the stealth skill for P/P (how sword has for example a daze). Just another mini-unload doesn’t seem all that great for this set to be honest.

pu is harder cause of stealth but just put blind and you will be ok or kill the clones faster

condi mesmer is in the worst position atm compare to other condi class. the problem we got stealth while other dont so ppl still after 3 years dont know how to handle it

i killed a guard with no illusion line at all only with scepter so mesmer are OP? learn not to move with +5 torment and not to use skills with +8 confusion

i do agree that stealth ability of the mesmer is too much but in pvp its great as they cant contest. so i cap the point and lure them by moving out so they get out of stealth to decap and i burst them and they go stealth and all over again while they accomplish nothing till they use MI, torch and than they are vulnerable
and if they kill me than gg for them as i mess with my rotations

the hight cost of 6+4 initiative will prevent from spamming if you want to do some unload dmg
also #2 skill is unusable at the moment as 1 sec of immobilize which as for now every other class has immunity/decrease/cleanse of immobilize/chill/cripple and the 3 sec of 5 vulnerability WOW too op.

in group fight around aoe the staff is useless

if bound dodge became leap then daredevile trait line will become more p/p trait line
thus we will need more pistol oriented traits there also.

the leap would give the p/p ability to stealth but it wont fix the problem much as we need 1 evade skill/shadow step like any other weapon set

also 1200 range is must to par with others range

every other weapon set have #3 as evade or shadowstep

so i want #3 with pistol will give some sort of this abilitiy like evade backward 600 range as we must to be in range

also #2 is much useless even in p/d set

so what anet can do not to harm the p/d weapon set while contribute to p/p set

1. unload become #2 skill and can proc bleeding maybe 25% chance – so both condi and power will benefit it. cost 4 initiative and instead of 8 hit only 7 hits
2. #3 immobilize for 3 sec , put vulnerability 10 stack for 8 sec and shadow step back 600 range/ or gain stealth for 3 sec. cost 5 initiatives – only pp will benefit it

For trait mods, we’d like to experiment with Weakening Strikes slightly, adding a secondary to it within its role of debilitation. Options we’re looking at it:

  • Inflict X (torment, bleeding, something) when you weaken a foe.
    or
  • Receive less damage from weakened foes.

you never see condi thief (even in wvw they are dying species)
as every other class got many immunity, debuff cleanse to conditions thief mst have more buff to their conditions
so i will vote adding 10 stacks of vulnerability (buff direct dmg and condi dmg) for 8 5 sec AOE also the weakness should be aoe but probably too op

i would give driven fortitude a protection for 3 sec when you evade . as we lack this boon.

also endurance thief – when you steal also your attacks unblockable for 2 sec – can bring back the d/d thief with the famous combo.

also pls make pistols 1100-1200 range . we lack stealth abilities thus we need more range than 900

try to think outside the d/p weapon set

staff i dont feel it would enter the pvp

crit dmg will be 230%
crit chance with perma fury 82%
5% dmg from rune

your rune only works on opening strike as being 90% hp is hard as thief.

you have 10%+20% (executonier – below 50%) with 195% crit dmg

try it and have fun (i call it raging pistols)

i know the shadow step is fine in pvp scenarios i saw 1 foing far and i was close i asked ally to give me target and i get there so fast to prevent a cap. but had no energy so had to play carefull and use my heal fast till energy come back while i was 50% hp and the enemy almost in full health

so i think the main issue is revenant has got shadow step abilities but have to play more careful with energy management as it can scerw you over

but i think we can compete with the thief role in some ways or even with ele regarding sustain

hey guyes. so this weekend i tested alot the thief
build tested with DD for pvp arena

d/p
p/p

for the d/p i felt like DD is not needed much. the loose of panic strike to get 1 more dodge and cc ability if team fight in kinda useless where stealth sneekiness and fast burst is needed. sure it can work but why to broke something which works best

for the p/p i felt DD is so much needed long time ago. with many evade with dash to reposition fast or with stealth ability when dodge (though the leap was buged) gave the pistol a second chance. still p/p need more love to compete with the d/p meta like more range 1100 and evade/stealth abilities like any other thief weapon set

regarding staff . was fun to play with it but seem more supportive and tricky with out stealth in melee range. so 1v1 its fine but in group play where you can be pressure and you have no stealth but utilities can get you killed

also try the d/d condi with DD. nice pressure for 1v1 but in group play same problem as before . condi get cleasne for the thief pressure to fast also with the ew ranger and revenant abilities why go condi at all…..

also revenant will compete with our role for the d/p. with shadow steping fast reaction and huge dmg spike with lots of CC and boons . thief might be in problem

Another nice looking bunker. It seems these builds are honing in on many similar things. The only thing I’d consider with this one is use of crusader amulet. In a true bunker I think you’ll want a higher health pool. Nicely done overall though.

also right . i tested soldier and even sentinel. both are good. some time i like the healing skill to give 5k health aoe and not 4k

i went against dragon which with all the block/evade/ immunity/heal and burning consider counter to p/p (projectiles)
so here is some friendly duels and 1 team pvp match (with pug engi… bad one)

so this it the best build i come out with

tricky one but doable.
any target below 50% has a 80% to be dead in 1 sec
you must be alert all time as you dont have much condi cleanse so against heavy condi team play twice safer
dont stand in 1 point too long as you dont have stealth (maybe after they fixed the bounding trait we will)
dash gives you room for bursting fast
and perma swiftness whats not to like

state will be during fight:
crit chance 79%-91%
crit dmg will be 230%
dmg modifier will be 5%, 5%-15%, 10%, 5% so total 25%-35%

for anet:
pls make pistol range base at 1100 or even par with everyone 1200
or if not gives us #3 evade like every other weapon set. hard to do without nerfing unload dmg but you can figure it out. like after finish unload for 1 ini point i can evade back 600 range. so its unspammable cause of high cost
the #2 immobilize hardly being used so make it 2 sec or 10 stack of vulnerability . common its 3 sec so its short window to burst with pistol
i wish we could have some sort of stealth ability but wishful thinking

the hybrid dmg along side 30%-50% crit chance and the 15-20 might stacks give huge dmg boost

my chill dmg is 600-780
burning 5-6 stacks 1k-2k
direct dmg 1k-3k

but low armor so careful

you right on manipulation . sry should be idefense. that why i have almost 9% reduce dmg on me.
regarding well i change those sometimes but when my burning guards have cd on their skills faster the burst is insane

i take portal to move forces if we do another split. like we hold mid and see we losing home as the enemy split far close . i put portal on mid and move home or far to defend. than if the enemy split again to close i come back fast to hold it. with pugs i dont use portal

the idea is to move with the forces with the help of portal and support them with wells and heal and cleanse, res, stomp etc..

i also tried it with condi version and manage to down 1v3 2 scrappers .

keep in mind you dont have much break stun so use your shatter for stability to prevent the stun.

its very hard 1v3 with lots of cc. but 1v2 can be done till helps comes
with alacrity i sometime forget i had skill on rdy which i tough was on cd.
will try to post video but tested the thief and necro all day

on golems and players

the outcome is the same
with 54% crit chance (maraduer) it feels like hitting with 4%. i had 5 attacks with no crit at all with 4k each.
my AA crit more often.
also the dmg when crit was around 6-9k dmg depend on the armor and might stacks 8-15 stacks

pvp uses

i tried team fight and dueling 1v1 4 builds

1. full bunker cleric sw/s+staff – 1v1 cannot be killed if you time right the healing skills. team fight also good support with slow, alacrity, boon share, but hardly do any dmg
2. semi bunker condi settler sc/s+staff – 1v1 cannot be killed unless i mess up with rotation. my condi dmg comes from clones and scepter (i dont use illusion line). i manage to do more dmg and kill in 1v1 and even 1v3 on point 3 scrapper and killed 2 without notice it just using my rotation (but probably they still learning their rotations)
3. chorno full condi – rabid and carrion. bad bad bad. sry to say the condi almost dont last long and in team fight with the druid /ele/guard and so many cleanse skills just bad. maybe 1v1
4. power block -seems nice but does it really need chrono that much ?! even with alacrity ppl block,dodge evade immunity so the cd without alacrity will be ready to use

team fight and wells:
ppl must learn to see which well you using . in fight its hard to notice . so maybe new color for each etc..
also the radios is small so beside the elite all should be 360 if you trait well.
i think for condi spec maybe well should proc more conditions than mesmer will have condi utilities and even open up celestial builds.

i think condi mesmer need more love (must) and wont use chorno that much.
bunker mesmer is coming up which is good thing with chrono
power will stay the same
and lockdown will enjoy the slow ability with chorno
