Back to topic. I think if the question is about cond pressure and nothing else, than Rev would be better, also easier to play.
But chrono has very kitten high skill ceiling… every loss or fail on role attempt could be due to l2p issues.
can you elaborate why?
few tricks:
1. if you think you are gonna be burst. right before use it and use all you skills shatter etc.. your health will drop and pooff will get back to full without using your healing skill while your enemy used his burst on you
2. doable long cd skills . elite skills, aoe skills and utilities, blind spaming with shatter
3. location kite. use CS on hard spot location , run aways and blink or PR. your enemy will follow and pooff you will be back behind him
4. doable portal or doable blink doable mass invisibility etc…

dueling give you blind on shatter and with ineptitude you create doable the confusion
so with perfect shatter i can get 24 confusion stack while without dueling i will have 15
now in good fight sometimes yo wont be able to perfectly shatter thus from 24 i will get 15. an from 15 i will get 8 so more dmg with dueling over more sustain with inspirationHold on. I remember testing this a while ago, and at least back then, it would only ever add one or maybe two stacks of additional confusion. That’s because blinds that go on top of already active blinds do not add any confusion according to my tests back then. This means the only way you would get 9 additional stacks of confusion is, if you would shatter 9 illusions in a row (meaning you press three shatters in succession; 2 of them need to be 4-illusion shatters in melee range) and your opponent is spamming auto- or multihit-attacks like a madman (preferably with quickness active, and he actually has to"hit" you or someone else with every hit) so his blindness is getting removed fast enough for you to apply yet another one… but even then that only works if your illusions (including you) are perfectly lined up for each shatter, so that they do not hit at the same time. And if all that is the case, then said opponent would have suicided quickly even without those additional 9 stacks.

i can do 1v1 24 confusion, and 18 torment in best scenarios and average 15 stacks both confusion and torement
rev has better mobility with assassin, and when cover with condi he spam his utilities to get resistance which can be stripped as a boon . got great torment aoe but will deplet the energy fast so only AA and vulnerability, ok burning and confusion cover
rev dont need illussion to proc the condition where as mesmer does

the first version is great at 1v1 and 2v2 as the torment and confusion is so high as you can shatter 3*3 so its great versus ele, ranger, rev, engi
the second is less pressure but more ability to stay on point while doing pressure
i play revenant and its feel like mes can do more dmg while rev has the ability to teleport fast from point to point
but again what is better mesmer or revenant as condi pressure?
Please close this topic, I want to be one of the few mesmers that have already theorycrafted the one of the most OP builds that mesmer has ever had. The moment someone posts it, all the burst/bunker builds will go into shadows due to reason how this certain semi-bunker condi one outperforms everything. You literally run around doing basically nothing while aoe applying 20 stacks of torment/confusion.

So far, we got Celestial meta, 20/40 (50%) amulets used in EU Pro League today were Celestials, Orange Logo was the only team which used heavy condi setup.
The more tanky enemy comp is, the better Carrion/Viper is.
indeed we see still cele meta but carrion/viper with necro/rev coming in whether its 1 condi class or 2 condi class . in the past no condi build was involved

i have dicided to take the scepter/shield and check them in power build and with condi build
the condi build is base with deling, illusion and chrono with viper amulet and torment runes- nothing new here. this spec should handle better guards and diamond ele with more direct dmg and amazing condi pressure burst (i just whish we could have 2 stack mtd)
i am still having trouble with DD thief as its hard t land a shatter on them but when i can they are dead or SR
but most intresting is with marauder amulet and scpeter. take me by surprise the ability to do good dmg and be clones factory on its on

i might suggest AR so with CS you can use it twice and stay with dom trait line
i would go with marauder amulet and no crusader unless you like to stay on point

guys you have to agree that bunker well mesmer can handle himself and not handling 1v1 situation
it seems he fought this build rather the power build and lost to it…
power build tend to take torch and not shield so far even after the patch…
i fought against that build with my STAFF and won it
its nice build 1v1 but in higher tier you will face guard who can cleanse easily, generosity runes, condi transfer, eles and condi immunity and much more stun abuse
try to get the highest condi dmg so use scavenging rune (more 150 condi dmg)
try to think how you get more condition like chill, vuknerability to cover you bleed and poison, like with hydromancy sigil and fralityin 2v2 and higher your dmg will be cleanse easily and the enemy will focus you untill you SR
ask yourself why staff thief could get you as he dont have much condi cleanse and you will see that every class got more cleanse, block, evades etc.. so they can take you unless they used all their endurance, cleanse….
Thieves easily have the most evades lol. Pretty much anything we do is an evade now.
this is the reason you dont see thief in top tier now . cause they cant do anything beside evading the fight
so they cant 1v1, other do +1 better thus we evade to oblivion
but what will happen if group X put condi dmg and group Y put direct dmg
who get the kill rewards and who should?

full condi versus DS the match should last forever if its 1v1. you have tankiness while ele got immunity

i think when the immunity ticks it should have some icd like 5 sec . than you have some window to attack him untill he is immune to condi again
the reason i took gs is cause i play with full team where the support me on the first push till i get life force and than GS just do wonder with blind, pull, whirl, and vulnerability especially on smaller point
i dont try to go 1v1 unless i need to hold the point till help comes. this is why i dont need range weapon much.
my job is to do huge dmg on the point and enter RS as much as possible
in soloq i take staff for more range life force gaining
true that conditions can rip me apart but life force protect me with 30k hp pool.
but in higher tier i hardly see much condition beside the carrion necro build

idea:
i like the staff but more and more i see it as an opening tool to gain life force
skill 4 to transfer conditions is important but if i can handle without it i am good with it.
i took the GS. cause i see more and more i play in melee on the point with my team so i want the highest hp pool i can get and to be able to dishout huge dmg.
gs has nice fast abilities to gain life force with pull and fast vulnerability with life force . blind field is also great and good combo with it. and i know the AA is so slow but nevertheless the AA hits hard if its crit 3k-5k each.
so i have crit dmg but no crit chance . thus i need vulnerability and fast ways to gain life force
the build i being able to get 25 vulnerability stack so fast and also when you in RS it just spread out around you.
so in RS usually i got 100% crit chance so my AA crit for 3-4 dmg each
so far it works and i couldnt see downside beside staff #4
wells are stationary so in raids your team will have to w8 for 3 sec in place making them vulnerable to aoe burst
guys you should try it
the signet recharge the phantasm skill so you can activate 4 times the block and with shatter to reduce the cd significantly
you can create 2 phantasm and active the heal signet and use 1 more and shatter them for 6 sec cd and alacrity and they will reappear for more alacrity and slow and shatter again for 6 sec cd so you shield will be ready again no time

i look for condi duration so slow on i avenger will be 3 sec and torment will be max at 12 sec
rabid just give me more toughness
carrion with no stability i can be lock down in team fight
it was just a test for point holder build which i notice what i can do with block abilities as the slow is aoe 240 r
and with PoM trait i can reduce the icd between 4-6 sec on i avenger

jalis need more dmg on his skills as taunt is nice ability but cost too much and IR probably use for wvw or pve

It was really surprising to see that you value dust strike so highly as it is the skill that i probably use least. Though it also may be that the build i run is more defensive and it really feels like i have to save ini for vault if i want to kill something in reasonable time.
usually enemy will start hard so using blind to negate the dmg/cc is good
i think condi thief no matter the build is more wvw open world build. pvp you must contest a point to win and hardly roaming outside of a point to win.
like if i am being chase off a point by a dmg dealer class its good thing as long they dont do dmg on my group which contesting the point.
sure you could take 1v1 after a while . but after a while help will come to 2v1 you with support or dmg ..
dont get me worng as i love condi builds more than power but condi is boring and wont draw viewers to support esl league etc….

here is my variant (slightly different and imo better)

sigils : battle and speed – both give might and swiftness and quickness when you swap so it 3 boons which add up so it 9% boon duration and also great for stomping with mind wrack which give stability
amulet: vigilant over celestial – 3.1k armor over 2.6k , 17k hp over 22.5k . no crit chance and crit dmg over 500 more power . so the average dmg is slightly higher but when you crit with celestial does more dmg . condi on cele is useless as your condi mostly proc from AA staff and clone and clones tend to die fast. also vigilant grant you more boon duration and condition. the boon duration mid fight can be 80% and condi duration is great for slow shield which can be 3 sec and F5 which proc resistance now is 8 sec which negate most condi on you if you are pressured bit them.
also MR minor trait proc perma regen when you drop below 75% hp as their base duration now is 16 sec and the cd is 15. so now you will proc more protection with chaos armor combos
for close/far bunker cele might be better as you can hold it 1v1 and 1v2 thus you staff clones can do more pressure with bleeding. but than i will change to more condi version amulet. like wanderer.
elite – TW over GW – gw does nice lock on place in a 240 radius on 80 sec cd give or take. but stability negate it while TW does 360 radius gives 15 sec of quickness (boon duration!) and slow on the area which is amazing buff to your team and can change the tide of the fight so on small cap point you basically control it as enemies dont like the slow effect at all while in GW they can break out of it and just have stability so you left with nice dmg buff but consider with quickness your team does hell a lot of dmg instead for you instead of just 3k average dmg with GW from you alone. but both are good choice nevertheless
SOI – i took it because i can stack boons twice faster and also it gives me boons so protection, regen, swiftness and might can be perma. also the aegis which proc is nice and retaliation if you lucky
WOA – mainly cause i didnt feel the need for WOR and if needed i will switch to portal. like guarding mid and move to close or far gives some help there and if i see it mid contested come back fast as i can handle 1v1 and most 1v2 . but WOA again boon and slow which ppl hate so less dmg on me in melee situation. if i think there will be condi burst i will take null field and maybe temporal enchanter with it so my teem can be more aggressive while i keep condition off them with resistance
i will post shortly a 20 min tutorial video and short gameplay (the game start after 20 min)
all i can say when my team heard me switching to mesmer and than i said bunker they didnt expect this to happened at all.
1v1 – can handle anything (unless you moa so you cant contest point). i like when thieves waist time 1v1 me
1v2 – doable
1v3 – harder but can handle the pressure till helps come for 30 sec -1 min sometimes
just try to kite and block twice for 4 sec, distort with F4, WOP, Sword which is about 8 sec and with F5 you can do it twice for 14 sec , so you have like almost 20 sec window while you have protection which negate 33% dmg off you.
just want to make clear
the trait is working BUT from your base doration
so like might have 15 sec
you got 50 boon duration food/amulet this it will show as 22.5 sec
now you have 5 boons on yourself which means 15% duration
so the total boon duration is 65% which means 24.75sec
now if you check it on 6 sec base boon duration than is would be 9.9 sec which means 0.9 sec more with the trait – hardly noticeable but exist
so happy to see bunker chrono in the finals so i guess we gonna see more of them now.
problem – they must have good group or they loss their effectiveness
i wouldnt go cele and might change to soldier or condi instead (but risky with necro on the other side)
it seems they lost cause helseth left mid and rush far to help the res and prevent the cap. so they lost 2 point eventually . so maybe a portal in the build could be useful even for bunker build to move forces on the map….

my team have almost all boon on them and if i am going with temporal enchanter the resistance can get to 5.5 sec while most condition last about 6 sec so your team hardly need condi cleanse on a point fight.
also the slow condition duration is bit higher so its good thing and slow on point for 10 sec while you team has full quickness is wow. and with F5 ready up again.
i would take blond bond – rise does bleeding so more dmg and healing
also settler amulet – more chill dmg around 600 per second
or viper both direct dmg and condi dmg but low armor so if engi left you without minions you can still pressure him with dagger dmg

also took signet so my boons output are much higher
but bunker chrono needs a good group to play with
bunker mesmer can kill you in 1v1 with soldier runes or some other power runes.
it will take time to do so but doable
the problem with bunker mesmer is they dont support much the team in boons (even with boon share) and condi cleanse (through healing skill)
they have alot of evade #2 sword, f4 and WOP , nice cc with well, F3 and shield,
good healing with shatter and condi cleanse
so unless they are perma stun they are hard to kill
dont you find the staff almost exactly as s/d beside #2 skill but with more dmg ?
i love the s/d but staff seems to work better

I was reluctant to even bother transferring to PvP, simply because the reward for effort isnt exactly there without Perplexity, and of course Dire for the silly sustain.
Also with Illusions and Alacrity, you don’t need malicious sorcery. You can also get your quick confusing images off during your tides of time since it procs quickness. So the trait becomes redundant. You could take ineptitude, though without Dueling BD there’s less reason to, and so MS about competes with it.
all i can sat bring mt to 2 stacks as its very hard to land a perfect burst with condi although hits doable
in wvw condi mesmer as usually are great
so far my only problems where thieves who know how to kite and stealth d/p with SA
power mesmer with evade and bit of stealth
and in group fight if there is an ele i am screw so i try to go far close and rotate with portal my team

got back to my mesmer after month break with daredevile and necro and didnt see this variation on the forum (so if i missed it)
here is the build for condishatter pvp
first i know mtd was nerf but now we got torment runes and with wanderer amulet the duration is 82% thus 11 sec torment (almost doable)
and i know 2 stack is better that doable duration but its hard knock life for us
either way i have a blast with this build so after they use all their cleanse i burst with up to 20 stacks of torment and 10 confusion
also the slow application when interrupt is very nice
pros:
1. slow proc
2. constant illusions up
3. good condi burst with F5
4. good condi cleanse
5. good cc abilities (staff, shield, GW, F3)
6. good blocking abilities
7. good evade frame with wop
cons:
1. necro can still kill you with condi transfer (hit and run tactic for them)
2. druid can be problem 1v1 but in team fight you can control them and slow them
3. ele – mainly slow proc for your team to kill them
4. if thief target you, you still can do nice blocking but careful as he can out sustain you
