lately ppl find builds and play style which can handle the p/d build
guardian – use blocks (3 of them) blind (2-3 of them) which can break the cnd rotation
ele – use diamond and fast heal, some aoe ,cc chill
engi – use massive aoe while bursting conditions
warrior – can out heal you and mobility with some stun etc
necro – use aoe, fear, cc
thief – d/p can kill you if play right and patiently
mesmer and ranger have the most trouble with p/d
so as you can see player who knows how to time their skill right can counter the pd rotations and win
yes and yes they tick both boons and dmg
so you basically want the guardian to be warrior
so play warrior
the guardian need some other twich
@Yamsandjams – change to your idead and the dmg with assassin and also spicy butternut (100 power +70 ferocity) and the total dmg both direct and burning is lower than my build
again my build give you 100% burning duration this its another 550 tick dmg which ignore armor while getting more power and ferocity will yield 250 more dmg which not ignore armor thus the actual average dmg is lower ~200

so no one trying to test new build with new possibilities
for me the burning even as full condi works just fine
sure there are some builds which is harder to kill but some too easy aswell.
i think anet want the guardian to go hybrid and not full condi just with burning dmg even with the buff 33% u can see its in the power line and not condi line
so far my hybrid work like a charm and even better in group raid as dps guard
if this trait moved to condi line you will see ppl running OP build with 2,6,6,0,0 meditation build with zerk gear which also do 1k burning => OP dmg isnt it?!

thief sdps with all build and weapon is average as he needs to stealth/evade thus not doing dmg so you cant calculate the dps with an icd of the skill rather on the burst frame time when you start to do dmg with your skills

if you talking tpvp than i would not take this build but all other area hell yes
its not meta build like s/d or d/p area (which both hardly can down average player in 7 seconds ) but as you can see it works just fine (for me at least)
also i roam with power d/d ele with venom share and we just melted ppl
so i would say it can be competitive versus any other thief build but some classes will give you hard time like d/d ele or guardian and condi necro
give it a try you’ll be surprised
@frans – you use cnd than sneak than swap to chill followed by dodge on him
if you use swap from stealth you’ll be revealed as you mention

1v1 this build can work just fine with average thief who knows to land cnd
if you miss 2 then you’ll have hard time to survive.
also this build doesnt need you to fight decent amount of time as you land all the powerful conditions in the game

torment 500-1000 dps
so total of 3.1k-3.6k dps dmg which ignore armor (add the direct dmg and you got 4k dps)
yes this build is harder than the p/d easymode or d/p perma stealth as it require you to play more tactically and know when to immobilize/chill you enemy
you can take 1 stunbreak as you got poison already with steal
you still got 3k armor (wvw dire set)
krait rune dont give much as ppl think – bleed duration is not much needed with p/d set. and #6 is not that usefull compare to burning or any other condition rune
regarding the heal skill – i find that most of ppl w8ing for you to heal and dodge away but if i evade in their faces rarely i miss my cnd and they dont know where i am while they are panic with the burning
sure if you fight the same enemy he will learn your trick and dodge away so you can immobilize heal on his face chill and dodge on him for 5 bleed stacks + sneak attack
also you dont need to take venoms to chill, burn ,poison, weakness, confusion, bleed, torment but they sure amplified you dmg and immobilize is such OP condition
and ppl try to cleanse they cannot cleanse all (maybe guardian and necros) so they will be so vulnerable
in group play i think its best as ppl rarely target you and you can down ppl fast and easy and get out

for more group play build go 6,0,6,0,2 with venom share and maybe take rune of grenth for aoe chill when heal so you can 10 seconds chill ppl with swap and heal and spam poison field and weakness all around the area

rune of might work better with solo or small group as they buff your might duration
but the real might stacking comes from blocks and GS and if you playing with group you gain might with staff guardian etc
another good alternative is rune of the fire – 10% might duration and 20% burning duration but you lose the 7% dmg amplifier but you gain more might with fire aura

Something like this is what I was talking about. Swap some sigils around and mouse over their durations on the skills page.
nice idea but i would change armor to more power oriented as dire only benefit your burning dmg by ~80 dps while power will grant you more
also i would take power sigil as gs and hammer should do more direct dmg (chill wont benefit much from condition dmg) and i would change to swap sigil than hit sigil

if you mean PF +symbol of wrath +smite +whirling wrath +ji is one skill i cant comment on that
the clips where i do not do dmg is to show the survivability as we were outnumbered 15v20-25 with only 1 ele to support us with water field.
and i’ve only been bounced once while i am in the thick (as you call it) and my team went for restack

the combination of high direct dmg and burning 100% which tick 2 times even more powerful than the full zerk build out there and suitable for group raid with 2800 armor

i see in both forums (warrior and guardian) that ppl agree that guardian have better dps than a warrior and also support the group better while warrior share some vigor/crit chace with shouts

i have both sigil of fire and air for 2k dmg every 3-5 seconds
i am not full zerk so my crit dmg is 180%
+37% dmg with sword – 10% to burning, 10% to condition, 10% with sword, 7% runes
to counter this attack from range with sb until he is below 50% hp and use his kittenite to heal. then pressure bit more so he use his elite and range him again till his aegis gone than full burst him
use evade with bow when needed
use poison field so he wont heal much
before you going to cnd use AA to clean the aegis
d/p has a chance if they harass him long time
be careful from immobilize from scepter as #2 can do 8-10k dmg and scepter AA does 1.5-2k dmg and burning does 1k dmg so use stealth when needed
guardian dps come from AA mainly as they can dish out huge dmg so evade and attack from range to counter them
my AA sword for 1 rotation hits for 7k+2k sigils+1k burning
pretty hard to counter 1v1 but doable
If your burning does 600 dmg (per tick) u did something wrong.
to do 600 burning dmg u need (no might stacks) 1k condition dmg .if you invest 1k on condition dmg you power will be low
so how you get higher in wvw group raid (no zerk build)
what about in raid group?

me and my guildy made a comparison with AA dmg in the mist and my guardian did the same dmg but as i proc burning for 600 dmg the dmg was higher.
also with just AA’s i manage to take down the golem much faster than the warrior.
as i dont know much about warrior builds can you ping me dps warrior build for guild raid (no zerk ones pls)

i really looked for some roaming action in wvw but too zergy atm. my best was to find warrior meta build which we fought for like 4 min as he could out run me and heal inside the tower and re engage.

krait just give more bleeding duration and some ok dmg with elite skill
any other rune doesnt give the ability to do 5k dmg and stacking another condition
average dmg with 1 burst is poison 300, bleeding 1000, confusion 1000, torment 700 and burning 900 so for 5 seconds is almost 20k dmg without considering the direct dmg around 3k
also burning is great aoe dmg which ppl dont expect you to apply and make the p/d set even more powerful and dangerous
@BlackDevil – pls advise about more key bindings i should use . i happy to learn.
the slomo was for the burn my enemy behind me + steal . you say i should not use F1 for fast and easy down ppl?
do you think to runes are good/bad do they add something new and viable or not?
mace is great weapon with huge dmg but the downside of it is a slowest one and easy do avoid
so far 1v1 i didnt put more video as this setup dont need burning to do overpowered pressure
again p/d is more an easy mode for 1v1 so i try to take it to more group play style where d/p or d/d or sb power build more common
you can see i can down as easy as d/x the peripheral enemy. i can do nice burdt with SB almost like the power SB but over time it almost the same

could be interesting for group play and viable for heavy front dmg dealer.
calculating your average dmg is a bit lower
on 10 seconds you gonna swap and get 100% crit chance so with AA is every 4 seconds
with 10 stack of might and full stack your AA GS gonna do (with the 3rd attack for example) 1617*1.1*1.07*(0.85+0.15*1.85)=2145*3/4+3520*1/4=2455+1305=3796 best scenario as you wont swap every 10 seconds exactly so your dmg in average will be lower. i will guess 10%.
while the build above will do with 3rd sword attack
1671*1.1*1.1*1.07*(0.6+0.4*1.76)+1128=3948 . so this 150 dmg with full rotation on your skills can yield about 2-3k difference when fighting
and also scepter as range weapon can put pressure from 1200 range and voj can be activated more frequently for aoe blind and burning longer. and this build is suited for every situation roaming/group play etc.
on the other hand you got 200+ armor although 2800 for me is enough for group play and you got better base hp with group support

so i have been asked and whispered to explain why i think hybrid guardian is better than the full zerk guardian or full condition guardian (although ppl still dont recognized condi guardian)
first everyone know whats the meaning of dps – damage per second
but unfortunately ppl forget about the meaning of sdps – sustain dps which is your dmg in time interval
although zerk can yield much higher dps with full crit dmg and higher crit chance he can do it only in small intervals so it may be bast against golems in the mist but against enemy who dodges and react to your action the interval get shorter so over all sdps is getting bit low
so you asked yourself why not to go full condition. its the miror answer to the zerk. full condition works better in longer fight so in longer interval can yield better sdps as conditions ticks every second but in the other hand you lose some short high dps which can down your enemy much faster.
this analysis is true for every class but as some other classes have the ability to better cc, defensive game play like mesmer thief and necro, or good re-engage like engi/warrior/ele. the guardian have only blind and few blocks to help him out
thus if you go full zerk as guardian you sometime can yield better dmg but in overall gameplay most classes can re engage, stealth, dodges so you sdps will be much lower.
thus i find that hybrid which takes both direct dmg and put condition dmg pressure yield best sdps and also can perform well in every situation like solo, group ,zerk etc
after testing the builds out there i came into this build
the concept :
burning 100% to utilize 2 ticks of burning which does 1.2-1.4 dmg while you direct dmg also high
so overall dmg even if play defensively or your enemy dodge he still take 1.4k dmg
so the sdps is higher

(you can go more zerk but i find it that 2.8k toughness is best spot for group play)

you can constant burn your enemies around you

the sword cleaves and the rotations is 2.5 seconds

AA3 – 1458*1.1*1.1*1.07*(0.60.4*1.76) – 2461
(burning)

= 6044 damage which is 2.4k dps and with 10 might stacks its 2.8k dps
the same full zerk build with 10 migh stacks will result in 8099 which is 3.2k dps but with 10k health and 2.4k toughness
amazing isnt it- > result of burning dmg duration.

so after trying and building my condi guard and testing few builds and making some of my own, and after trying to achieve the best dps to every situation
here are my results and builds around meditation concept
full zerk – good for roaming but mediocre for 1v1 with the condi meta. you lack in mobility (even with traveler rune). its hard to handle 1v2 and very situational. in small group fight is great if not getting focused. and can do huge dmg by playing aggressively. 2.5k AA (auto atack) but in short time best dps (build x,x,6,x,4, toughness 2300, power 2300 condition 0, crit chance 50%, ferocity 210%)
full condi – good for roaming, nice for 1v1 if your enemy dont run away. in small group fight is ok but great in big fight as the aoe burning does great damage over time. doing good dmg just by playing defensively, 1.8k AA. not many profession knows how to deal with you. in longer fight time the sdps become pretty equal to the zerk build (build 6,x,6,x,x toughness 2800, power 1200, condition 1800 burning duration 100% and +33% dmg)
hybrid – great for roaming and great in 1v1, much easier to do 1v2 (versus full zerk) but still not as easy as thief. great for small and big group fight as you can do great direct burst and passive burning after and before the burst so dps overall is higher 3.6k AA (build 2,6,6,0,0 toughness 2780, power 2500, condition 700, burning duration 100%, crit chance 40% and ferocity 175%)
so far for me the hybrid is the best setup for every situation
would like to hear your thoughts and opinion
as guardian lack in mobility my scepter is great weapon to deal dmg from 1200 range
also its good opener weapon which put pressure before you start your burst in melee
for me at least its working as it should
radiant fire trait and smoldering sigil were fixed?
i run with 10% condi duration 45% runes 40% food – 95% which should be 1 seconds tick of burning
with radiant fire +20% although using this trait, it doesnt showed in the skill bar as 2 seconds but as 1 seconds so 528 burning dmg my burning ticked 2 times with 1056 dmg (2 seconds )
also with smoldering sigil also tick 2 times but it does showen on your skill bar as 2.25 seconds (so 2 seconds)
with none of them so 95% i was ticking only 1 time as it should
so was it fixed?
duration stack till 100% so voj passive will go to 2 seconds and not above
also SJ only increase the active duration and not the passive.
also if you manage to put 1 stack of 1.5 seconds and before it ends another stack from lets say PF check if it sum it of
i think not as every stack act for its own so you’ll have 2 ticks and not 3
i would like to see more aoe symbols with two hand weapon
scpeter is bit slow and #2 is not a symbol
sword block is just absorb and doesnt react as block and have now symbol skill
focus/torch and shield have no symbol
so maybe shield create water symbol as it main utility is as defense weapon
torch as an offense weapon so fire field symbol
and focus maybe blind symbol
also speed signet,
and if anet already buff our condition burning maybe few more conditions like with AA
scepter weakness for 2 second
sword vulnerability for 3 seconds as high risk/reward weapon
GS cripple for 1 seconds
hammer chill for 1 second (instead of trait which is useless) as hammer easy to avoid
