i have also tried 2,6,6,0,0 and 3,5,6,0,0 with sw/t+sc/f
the sword AA is you main skill so can be bit boring but it yield huge dmg between 1.5-3.5k dmg and burning also as it fast rotation 1k
so 1 rotation can yield 7k-10k just from AA
add it to the nice aoe with torch #4 and you stack burning which can yield 6k dmg
but sword lack mobility and aoe like the GS has.

also these hybrid builds are nice counter to the condition meta necro/engineer/thief as the burning does good pressure so you can focus on defense movement and play more calm than being zerk guardian

i have to disagree to the fact guardian is boring
i have played thief which is a fast movement,reaction class
i have played mesmer which is deception class with clones
i have played necro which control the condition and control on one point dmg

guardian after the patch have the ability to play:
full support with shouts
full zerk meditation
full bunker
full condition dmg
hybrid dmg with direct and condition

you have the ability to stand in one points and kill your enemy while other class need stealth, blink, use DS, evade etc…
its test your skills and nerves to play guardian

as thief you can just SR or SS away
as warrior you use GS to run away
as mesmer you blink and stealth
as ele you use elite GS to run away
as engineer you use boots to run away
etc

as guardian you just cant. so you have to kill or be killed . if you get sleep or your enemy also sleeping or you gonna die
so try all the builds out there and make your own and have fun cause its really fun

Smoldering sigils are BUGGED, so you don’t reach any additional duration (at least in sPVP, I don’t play in other contexts).

i have tested the sigil and its havent been bugged for me in spvp

i agree than in spvp you dont need to reach 100% duration as ppl dont tent to escape fight from 1 location. but in wvw where some classes have great abilities to reset the fight you need the burning ticking longer to secure the pressure

you right sometimes i chancge to PF .depends how much i want to push myself into the zerg than 2k healing is needed. also when enemies see the aoe from PF they tend to scatter away so i want them to hit me while i am blocking to proc more burning and my group hit on 1 place.
against bigger group i want my GS to do more dmg but with smaller scale fight i want my icd on focus

after testing it and compared it to the zerk meditation build i can confirm that the dmg is equal and even higher regarding pure dps pressure

the nice things are:
you can go against blobs as you are not zerker build.
you can play defensively while zerk meditation force you to play offensively.
your blocks will do good dmg 700-900 burning tick
and your direct dmg will go from 1k-2k AA

GS rotation average burst can do 2k+4k+2k+4k+4k and 10 sec of burning so 7k dmg

scepter/focus rotation average burst can do 1.5k +4.5k
0.5k+1k+3k and 10 sec of burning so +7k dmg

although the mace can yield better direct dmg i prefer the scepter as it a range weapon so it procs burning when i am 1200 range and also cc when needed while #2 proc good dmg 600*9-12 ticks and 3-4 stack of burning

utilities also do dmg.
heal +4k aoe dmg
JI +5k aoe dmg
smite condition does 1-2k aoe dmg

i am still going with balthazar and not flame legion as i get my heal to proc aoe burning for 6 seconds and its another skill which dmg your enemies around 4k dmg also when my health drop to 20% i get quickness which is nice also. so while flame gives you 7% dmg (around +150 dmg) the burning from heal does much more dmg (4k aoe dmg) (equal to 20 hits while with flame legion rune)

i tried to show the abilities of the build so here you will see
1. dmg to bunker guard 1-1.5k from AA
2. burning pressure to death
3. pushing inside the enemy melee train doing 900 aoe burning and 3.7k aoe dmg
4. jumping on a thief with burst
5. cc a warrior with 2.5k-3k dmg with +700 burning
6. jumping on enemy group (from sm) doing 5 sec burning +700 dps and 4k aoe dmg
7. 1.5k AA on ranger and +700 burning dmg. just from blocking the ranger went from 50% hp to 5% and disengage (if only i had food on me for 100% duration….)
8. jumping on necro and uplvl guard with nice burst
9. ranger again havent learned his lesson
10. more group play and having fun

basically the build i run in spvp with s/f+sc/t but you wanna try it with zerk amulet much more dmg pressure

i gald more ppl trying the burning builds as ppl dont get them yet so they dont know what to expect.
i killed too many foes just from blocks while they didnt notice the burning dmg ticking 1k

i think scepter is better than mace as you go condition you wanna start pressure your enemy from afar and then go in with gs. also scepter has nice immobilize and #2 can proc burning 3 times
take smoldering sigil to get 100% duration

as wvw player i tried to find group build which can maintain the high dmg from meditation build but also could handle blob/zerg with high armor
after testing variant of your build while roaming i notice rarely i maintain +20 stack of might. average was +15.
also as you melee mainly enemies who run is hard to catch
so i decide to go with scepter/focus
gs. also i manage to get 1-2k AA attacks depending on armor lvl and protection with hybrid build (will glad if you check it out “power-melting” guardian)

if you see enemies with the same tag just dont as they are probably on coms
if they running close to each other and moving close you will have hard time as they focus fire on one location around them
if you wanna jock just cnd in and out of stealth till you and them get bored

i will go for full venom utilities . this will test your skills and nerves with no stealth utilities
so only dodge and cnd for your defenses
i am sure you’ll be surprised from the massive conditions pressure you will put out

another build is to go p/d with zerk armor and steal life abilities with food and SR and trait from venum. ppl wont expect p/d to do direct dmg and you can pull out some 10k combos and sneak attack for 5k

regarding movement any other class has up to 25% if i am correct so 33% may be op. also other class use utility while you use f4 skill so again may be not equal.
so may be the active virtue give aoe swiftness and the passive give vigor for 3 every 5th attack
voj is fine and the burning really help in pressure your enemy. also condi guardian needs it (as anet try to push the guardian into condi meta)
i agree chill is needed and maybe few more conditions so maybe voj active will burn and chill as you want the chill to proc when you needed
or make the trait which burn when you block to chill also for 3 seconds

i would like to see some evades skills/utility as mesmer, engi, thieves,ele, ranger got

thanks all the ppl who whispered me and gave here advices

after taking the advices above and test them

i change to zerk armor with flame legion runes and rage runes – on paper power is better than crit dmg as my crit chance is bit low (i need the base crit chance to be 40% but i will lose power or toughness) and also its not very noticeable
also i change to fury on meditation instead of burning on block so i may get more direct dmg on 4 sec time frame but as i mention above i need to be on my target while on the other hand burning while block give me 1.2k dmg from passive play
fury give me about +200 direct dmg *4 seconds so its 800 more dmg but you see the lose from burning.

again i dont think zerk meditation build dont do enough dmg but it make you play aggressively all the time be on you target face to secure the hits and dont miss them with enemy dodge/block etc
while with burning which proc from passive voj/block gives you the ability to adept to the fight and play both defensively and aggressively

also i hope you can watch now the video. you will see one clip in the north camp i was engaging 4 enemies alone (ally was down) i know i was gonna die but i was impressed than 4 of them dodge away and 2 enemies where 10% on health and needed do use utilities to escape and heal while they were burning for couple of seconds

i will try to make further attempts and more roaming and group vids and compare it to other vid on the net to see the dmg over time
and also will try to go shouts build for more group play

@Devils – if i go zerk armor and change to fury its the same zerk meditation build. as i have played it i notice this build yielf more dps from you suggestion

@oZii – i went balthazar as i wanted to find other build instead of zerk meditation build which can yield more dps

@Blasino – my crit is bit low 30% so i want blind. with full zerk i might use this also.

@roachsrealm – i tested sword and scpeter. as condi spec needs range weapon. mace can proc better dmg but its slow one and easy to avoid. the scpeter gives me the ability to immobilize and hit from range and #2 proc burning much more. but i can see your choise on the mace

if i take all of your suggestion i may find maybe better power zerk build

but the main differnce is power build needs you to be on your target to do dmg while condition build allows you to put pressure without the need to hit your target

so on payper full power can yield more dps but if you get blind,dodge,block, your target blink/Shadow step etc you wont hit them so over time you might do less dmg

an example is the fight 2v1 against the warrior which had swiftness and vigor but the burning did 16k dmg and 1v1 against thief when he SS he still got burned for 4k

ok after testing it in wvw (although it was hard to find roamers around all the zerg blobs out there) here is short clips which example the dmg output in some group play and roaming play

i tried to focus on the dmg output from burning also to see if i can get greater dps over other power builds (like zerk meditation etc).
so you may find me play defensively trying to get my might up and mainly block meanwhile like it the last clip with the s/d thief.
also notice group enemies tend to go bunkers build with high armor/protection so dont compare in to HJ pvp arena dmg output

hope i can get some advices and tips from you if its viable and how to improve it

thief role as mention above is to kite and kill the periphery mostly the ele which heals and aoe and mesmer or other thief and ganking fast the necro who is an easy target

as group move closely its hard for the thief to gank freely thus sometime some prefer the s/d as it immbolize and put distance from the enemy regroup while your team can see it and burst on 1 target to secure the kill

also if the thief manage to pressure the ele not to use his skills in key moment its also good as the enemy missed their heal or burst aoe dmg.

if you check videos you proabaly see thief running around using SB to blast and run out fast looking to gank fast and all over again.
its hard role as good guilds who know their movment and stack close the thief wont be much danger to them

builds are preety common

0,6,6,2,0 d/p
2,6,0,0,6 s/d

regarding p/d venom share the thief take a role of condi necro to spread conditions and not ganker so i can see guild maybe try it but as ppl only use common builds most of them wont take the chance to try it out

imo p/d thief can be more danderuse then condi necro

@DasPatAttack – i hardly play pve so cant comment on it. but in group play as i play also necro i know its rotations pretty well and also on coms so you know when we gonna burst, fake attack etc.
all i remember is necros prettly like this buff and when time it right could down the melee train fast as there are always 3-5 melee of got immobilized and tormented

cant say i have played it a lot as i changed to test burning guardian build (check my post in guardian forum ) but from time to time i enjoy the easy cheesy build and if i want to push myself i go full venom with no stunbreak and any escape botton

1v1 its still strong build if you dont miss your cnd
small group play as roaming als strong build

@babazhook – happend to me 2 times when i used venom share on guards against 5 enemies and run away. 1-2 enemies went down as they probably looked from where was the dmg coming from

wvw roaming is so hard these days with all the condi easy cheesy builds and all the blob who jump on you until you find 1 enemy to fight

@Tyreal can you check my build i post on “power melting guard”
i saw it has the same concept of might stacking with sigil and with some calculate i saw it could do much more dmg even with only 15 stack of might as burning tick longer and higher
but i find it really hard to fight versus pu mesmer and pd thief

to achieve 100% condition duration in pvp you need
20% sigil
rune 45%
30% zeal trait line
20% radiant fire

passive voj tick 2 times
JI tick 6 times
so not bugged anymore

supreme justice only affect voj active duration so all other skills wont get 25% duration

i tested and its buged

if in the tooltip its says passive voj under 2 seconds than it will only proc 1 second with or without the sigil
so you must check skills which gives longer whole duartion like JI which gives 3 seconds and with sigil it will be 3.6 so still 3 second so you can verify it either
active voj is 4 seconds so with digil its 4.8 so again you cannot verify either

only skills which burn for 5 seconds or longer you can check them

so skills which should’ve proc longer, proc the same tick so it must be buged

as some ppl may know already i love to do some theorycraft and test it in wvw and hot join pvp

after playing around with my perma-burning guard i kinda missed my zerk meditation build
so i came up with kinda hybrid build which turned out pretty well in wvw

build:

concept:
power – high power for direct dmg – base is 2350 but with full stack its 2700
but during fight you’ll have in average 10 stacks of might so you got 3k power
armor – 2.8k for good tankiness. good for roaming/zerging
hp – with full guard stacks its 17k. nice
crit chance and dmg – while its low the power compensate for it but you still do 180% dmg when crit
condition dmg – base condition dmg is 520 while with 10 might stacks it become 870 and with 100% burning duration it means VOJ proc 2 seconds of 1450 burning dmg (725 per second)
also with GS #5 attached to condition dmg its nice dmg over time
might stacks – with weapon swap and blocks you can get easy 10 attack but in average you will have 15
burning – your block proc it, your heal proc it, voj passive proc it and JI proc it. if you see your enemy low and already used his cleanse use voj for 8 seconds burning 5-6k dmg!
also your +10% more dmg to burning foes will proc much often
and dont forget 5% more dmg with GS

as ppl expect you to do direct dmg they wont expect you to do also condition dmg so even when you are not in the face of your target you’ll still do some nice ticking meaning your dps is higher. also they wont pay attention to your burning dmg ticking unless its already become increased to 10 seconds

comparison states with the zerk meditation build:
power is 2.1k
armor 2.3k-2.5k
crit chance 50%-70% (with fury trait)
crit dmg 200%
hp 14k
condition dmg 0-50
burning duration 10%

AA dmg comparison (with no stacks):
AA with zerk meditation does dmg base of 1k so when crit 2k so in average with 50% chance its 1.5k with burning its +328 every 5th attack so in average (3 sec rotation) +108 so total of 1.6k in average

with this build base dmg 1.2k (more power) and when crit it 2.1k so in average (30%) 1.5k with burning its +1.2k every 5th attack (2 sec tick with 3 sec rotation) +406 so total of 1.9k in average
with full stack its around 2.8k just from AA and with 15% more dmg its 3.2k dmg

1v1 the burning builds are very strong as they put passive and active pressure
till now my main problem is i cant rush after running enemy so i call it a win
and some bunker ele or conditions necro but all other melee classes just literally melting

i am using dxtory which for me dropping my fps less than fraps (-5 difference). usually i got when roaming 30-40fps and when zerging 15-20fps. sometime i get lag but it doesnt have anything to do with dxtory
i use vegas pro for editing
i put some burning guardian clips maybe i try to go back to my zerk meditation build

Be aware that several of the duration increases are bugged currently. I think the affected are Sigil of Smoldering and the Radiance trait. From what I can gather it’s very difficult to hit 100% right now. Double check that your tics are actually hitting twice.

its easy to get 100% duration

balthazar/flame runes 45%/30% – power or condition runes
zeal trait 30%
food 28%-40%

just dont forget there is cap of 9 stacks so use your skills wisely

@Balsin what do you want me to prove exactly
1. i can put burning consistently (up to the max stacks)- i can show it on golems in the mist. but the idea is to kill your enemy fast as possible so you dont want to tick for 1 min burning
2. ppl tend to cleanse conditions but i can proc it again shortly – in the ele vid was a nice example when he downed and lose all his conditions the burning proc in the next attack right after.

and i really dont know why the ele run away and didnt use water attunement to cleanse (probably panic or noob reaction)

this is why ppl dont get this build. you can proc 1k dmg with 90% hit chance (almost any skill on your bar proc it and also blocks)

and most of my fights tend to be 10-20 seconds and they die or flee

check my other videos of me testing burning build in spvp wvw. you will see the ticks surely

i made a video of burning ele but he died so only tick 12 times (12 seconds)
i used skills 1,2,3,4 only on the sc/t

basically as voj proc every 5 attackes which is around 4 seconds rotation you need to proc 2 mores skills so AA will just keep it burning by themselves and if you enemy cleanse you have another skill to proc it again

i am usnig shattere build 4,4,0,0,6 full zerk with mantra to cleanse conditions
sometime i can catch them by surprise and hit them hard with one shatter for 80% dmg but than again as you mention above i need to let my illusion to do the rest and not shatter
necros are being hard to counter as their AA can give me 5 stacks of bleeding, poison and torment (sigil) as its hard to dodge all the time so being shatter spec doesnt help against it

as PU power build i run 4,4,6,0,0 or 2,4,6,2,0 with mantra and/or heal as condition cleanse. its more easy to handle but again its hard to dodge all their attacks (and if you dodge and move they recognize you) and i cant stealth forever

maybe when they break the fight to heal i should do too. but necro has 2 hp bars so its hard to break the fight

so aoe spam of 1s burning is doing a job well enough huh?

if i rotate my skills and blocks it can proc 5-10 seconds aoe burning above 5 ppl so yes doing 1.5k aoe dps is greater than aoe power necro wells
also the elite skill does 4 seconds burning and its spammable
also making the enemies using their shouts earlier b4 my team burst on them is useful

when he was down to 50% hp he use worm and heal himself and back all over
he probably run full dire

the engi just run and heal himself so easily and also the thief with stealth

if you want to go to full direct dmg can the fale legion as it boost your direct with power +7% and also the duration of burning for some skills (skills of 1 seconds like block or voj wont get longer as they need 100% duration)

so if you try power with 100% duration than you will have the best dps (i think)

if you go full condi go with balthazar

i also use some variant of the burning guardian
mainly in wvw but also doing some hotjoin pvp
against melee classes this build rock! as they stay close to you and the block just generate burning all the time. and as mention above ppl dont think to cleanse burning from guardian so it ticks till it too late

against ele it can become tricky as they can cleanse it fast but you can reput it faster either.
against necros again if you time it right after he uses his heal skill and you cleanse the signet in the right time you can win the fight

again it cant be OP so some classes can handle it

for me most of the time i could handle 1v2 on one point so i gave my team levarage

also if you tick longer most of my enemies run away and just died few seconds later thus if you tick longer even when they not close to you they take dmg

and yes ceimash perdict it – GG

i change now for 10,0,30,0,30 with confusion also and it hit like truck
my rotations bit slow with no icd on venoms but who cares if you target down in 3-5 seconds
also in zerg fight i change to ricochet to hit few more ppl with conditions

in pvp arena i rarely die and can take 1v2 on 1 point easily so my team has better chance with 3v2

just dont miss cnd

in pov1 most of your sb dmg came after you team manage to take down most of the enemy group so try to come from the sides and not from the back if you wanna contribute better

in zerg fight my SB poison filed tag ppl for 300 dps so i got plenty of loot
also i can down sideline in 3-5 seconds
as i can immobilize them for 10 seconds so surely more ppl will kill them with me and even alone i can drop health bar in few seconds with 5 stack of confusion 7 stacks of torment, 5-10 stack of bleeding and poison its about 5k dps
if i target the melee train its hard as they constant cleanse but again D/D thief can run to the melee train and do dmg either

basic build
1,0,6,0,6 full dire set with 1 venum SR SS – -easymode
6,0,1,0,6 full dire set full venums – not so easy with no stunbreaks so only cnd to stealth but can down ppl in 3 seconds – fun/hard mode but not for 1v1 or big group play

dont get me worng on paper hybrid yield the most dmg output
but in real game life it really depends on yor enemy. if he condi spec with lots of clease zerker will do the job better. and if he’s zerk build than condi can do the job much easier etc…
so on golem the dmg will be higher with hybrid but golems dont attack you

i disagree imo thief can do hyrbid stuff well, jst not like this. i posted a build a few days ago of a life siphon build i use.i focus on how it has very high life stealing but it has great mixed damage. the siphoning gives extra physical damage while i use venoms for the condis its mainly a condi build but it does pretty good dmg considering its a condi.

plus not a lot of ppl realize that not only does life siphoning give you hp, but it also does physical damage which scales with power, so if it scales with power and the siphons are on venoms that makes those very good for hybrids. plus the sigil of leeching deals a fixed amt of 974 damage, only down side is this one does not scale with power. venoms traited with siphon can be usedd amazingly as a hybrid try it out some.
So if you use leeching sig plus venom thats already 1.4k physical damage not including your auto attack and the venoms effects AND not including a crit, and then you get hp back from it too.

Edit: I dont disagree that this build is meh but i disagree that we cant do hybrid

i looked on your build and its not hybrid as your attack is only 1k

maybe i am mistaken but as far as i know hybrid means take both condi+power and use them both on your build .lets say 1700-1800 attack 1300 condi will mean hybrid (wvw states)
rampager and carrion gear are hybrid. rabid and dire condition

my build i am using yield me 1100 attack with 2.2k condi and i dont consider it hybrid

the leeching doesnt make the build hybrid.
