i will put a video of spvp in 1vX situation so you can see its strengths
i took 2 sigils of battle in spvp to get higher might stack
unfortunately ppl didnt like my game play as i could do 1v4 for 5 min so my group just focus on capturing points so easily

retaliation dmg was almost 200 per tick with 5-8 ticks
also the stun ability and the fast bleeding burst is amazing

you dont have to prove . 20 is doable but again over kill with 5-8 stack of bleeding and poison

i think thief who play pd know this build. i play it when torment came out.
the problem is i rarely get 20 stack as they die much before with only 5-9 stacks again meaning overkill

also about chase and kill – how you manage without swiftness. most of them will run for sure so in theory you kill them all but i believe you only would kill noobs player who dont know how to run and defend himself. also after 1 min run i just get bored

i would take Improvisation as you have 3 utilities which are different so 60% recharge one of them when you steal

and you can get with venom share 16 stacks of torment if all hits and with shadow strike 2 so getting 25 is really hard (even impossible) against average player and also mean you spent all your initiatives

with 20 stacks of torment you will do 94/188 dps per stack so after 8 seconds its 15k/30k if all hits
so its 50% chance you can kill as when the enemy see thieves guild he will back away for 20 seconds . and then what? small burst with 2 stack of torment
also as mention above 20 stacks is overkill
also i dont like skelk venom. too long cd and no conditions removal

so with dual i can see it working but random roaming sometimes you will kill and sometimes you wont
average thief will just SR
ele will use mist form and lighting flash
mesmer will blink away or use stealth
warrior/engineer will block
guardian and necro will cleanse it fast
ranger …. oh well ranger will die
so the problem you will have most enemy will just run away. and stupid will stay to die
the 30,0,30,0,10 build is good and can be great if you know how to land CnD few time between the recharge

for big group fight more than 10-15 the SB is the better choice with much more poison fields and bleeding areas
also your contribution to the group is far less then the panicond full venom share. so if you can play power d/d well it could be better than this build with higher dps and taking enemies down fast

its more lucky build
if you manage to do fast burst you can kill zerker enemy fast
but you got low ini regen as all d/p build so even with higher armor is could be much hard these days
so all depend on your game skills

i would take maybe trait which give me 2 ini when stealth

p/d venom share with thieves guild can put on you 12 stacks of torment for 8 seconds which alone do around 9600-19200 dmg if moving
combine it with poison, leech*3 and 5-8 bleed stacks you down in 3-8 seconds if you dont SS to clear and SR and run away

if its dual you should be ready to his burst and you should avoid most of his dmg just by SR than you have free time to kill him
if he catch you by surprise there is nothing you can do

Hello again,

so after the Panicond build which utilize a massive burst of conditions and venom share abilities which support your team as well, some ppl find it hard to play it because the lack of defensive tool and not being much appropriate for beginners.
also the build aim for group play which some ppl like more to play as roamer and testing their 1vX abilities

1vX basic condition build is 0,0,30,20,20 with full dire/carrion with skale venom only as venom to put more pressure to your bleeding. this build is very easy to master with vigor uptime and 2 defense utilities like SR, SS. but some ppl find it more as troll build.

so as i told you last time i theorycraft with s/p combined with venom.

so ppl want more defense utilities so i put 2 of those. also i took out the venom share as ppl want more solo play

The Vsting

Sting because of the stun/daze abilities which heart for short moment preventing you from act or react

p/d set is straightforward weapons – you main conditions applier
s/p set is your defense and control weapon set

  1. cripple and weakness cover conditions,
  2. immobilize and clear condition,
  3. stun and enable to apply fast conditions while evade,
  4. daze key skill,
  5. blind the area against melee classes

rune of balthazar give you aoe burning condition every 15 seconds
swapping weapon gives you aoe 3 stacks of bleeding

key trait here is Improvisation
with 3 different utilities tree you have 60% chance every 21 seconds one of them will recharge.
this gives you the ability
1. play aggressive if venom recharge
2. play more defensive if SS or ROI recharge

you have 2 stun breaks and many conditions removal abilities

1v1
very strong p/d by itself so combine it with stun /daze and control weapon we got us a winner
also PW does nice dmg

as you saw in the panicond build the pressure of 6 conditions make most enemy to run or die. so even if you enemy could clear all the 6 conditions his hp will drop to 50%-70% and he will probably use his heal skills also.

5 bleeding, 5 torment, poison, will do 687+515/1030+274=1476/1991 dps without direct dmg. so with direct dmg it can be 2500 dps in average
with burning the dps is 3300
if you swaping you have 3 more bleeding stacks so dps can be 3700

so usually enemy wont use their conditions clear skills so fast rather after few seconds like 3-4. thus if you PW you got yourself 5-6 seconds till your enemy stun breaks which
can give you almost 18k-22k dmg

this build is no easy to master as you need to learn the rotation and use steal in key moments like after using SS/ROI+venom use steal, learn your limits and use heal also in key moments to put burning to finish (if enemy in 25% hp)

skill rotations:

p/d
cnd+steal -> sneak attack -> shadow strike – basic rotation with venom or without
to prevent heal or skill use you can stun with basilisk or swap to s/p and hs or pw -> bp and aa to cover conditions or just PW twice

use utilities if need initiative or defense moves and steal again
if venom recharge just PW with skale venom and swap to p/d to basic rotation and basilisk venom
use heal when need with withdraw forward or dodge forward and withdraw backward
use s/p set to control your enemy with #2+#3 if he blink/teleport or stun break

there are many rotations to use here base on the situation

if you find yourself against good player like necro you can just SS away

also you still can contribute to your party with aoe burning and bleeding and 2 boons sharing every 21 seconds

soon i will post short tutorial and later I will test it the following week and hope you like it and test it yourself

i agree this build is really not for beginner players as you have no defense utility at all
so its relay on reading the map, the movement of your team and the enemy.
if i get focused it will be very hard to escape without SR,SS,PB etc as my only way to vanish is CnD.
i dont agree withdraw forward is an exploit as it just fast key movement. like 4 HS spamming fast
i sometime also use it backwards if i want to surprise my enemy and being behind him for clean CnD

but when it does it can take down faster even the bunkier builds out there

New Healing Skill

signet of malice can be traited and still better (is some group situation) than skelk venum.
still 36 seconds on heal which give you less health per seconds, no cure for conditions, no stealth for thief class with almost no defense but his mobility and stealth is big NO NO
maybe 25 seconds (20 sec when traited) would be suitable and balance

if you check every heal skill will heal you for more than 300 per seconds
hide in shadow will do base 200 but cure burning, poison, bleeding , and if traited than regen pops up so you get more than 350 per seconds
withdraw heals for more than 300 and cure cc conditions and evade so again 350 or more actual
signet of malice heal for 350 per seconds
so i would expect that skelk venom will do 350 as well (as with share you can heal 4 more ppl)
so or buff the base heal or reduce the cooldown to 25 seconds
and still i think ppl will consider twice if to use this skill

another example of this build with solo and group play moments

1 – taking ele by surprise fast and clean with no ability to respond so he rage quit
2 – taking ranger fast 1v3 knowing enemy zerg inside the camp
3 – outnumbered group play. putting pressure on enemies, buffing allies and taking down enemy player while retreat
4 – few seconds later taking warrior which use earlier breakstun and run to his group
5 – group play. taking from the side enemy fast (engineer), sharing venoms with the backline on choke point thus fast 5 enemies downs with aoe immobilize and stun
6 – scouting and putting bunker ranger commander on 50% hp until my allies group come and doing some nice aoe dmg behind the wall (+6k*4 aoe dmg)
7 – taking mesmer from 1500 range again with no ability to respond
8 – 1v1 against mesmer who caught me by surprise while i was checking map. bad fight but i manage with only 2 successful strike to take him down
9 – group play. buffing my allies, taking enemies without venoms by immobilize them and allies help
10 – 3v3. putting bunker guardian commander on 50%. interrupt the ress.
11 – outnumbered group fight. engineer almost take me down with conditions. taking ranger easily, preventing stomps, and taking from the side engineer.
12 – enemy thief tried to be sneaky on my ally so i sneak on him
13 – 2v1 against necro
14 – taking down ranger from 1500 range

i did manage to die few times but only when fought against zerg in outnumbered situations
as you see against bunker build its hard to burst them fast but again bunker build wont do you much harm either. so most of the time they will run enable you to kite them easily
also its harder to stomp as i dont have shadow step skill

New Healing Skill

after testing 4 days the new skelk heal i can say its useless
i really want it to be great in venom build but it simple aint
you cant go 1v1 unless you catch your enemy by surprise but than the healing skills wont give any edge over other healing skills
you cant go in group play with 36 cd as you risk yourself being immobilize, stun etc for 21 more seconds versus withdraw
i even tried in in DB build but again i lose condition dmg to get higher healing points, lose mobility versus withdraw

maybe if the 4-5 attack would also steal health i could imagine it being useful (like necro skill) as it would add 1800 more dmg burst for you team which is bit nice
but most of all we really need those conditions clear on healing skills like other healing skills as venom share build is too vulnerable

i am testing now a S/P build with it and getting nice result but not all the time so i trying to find the tactics and the pros over other healing skills . if it will succeed i will post it

i knew some will say that but i have 5 condition removal with cleansing inscription so when activate the ether signet it will remove 3 conditions
we all know that conditions are the worst enemy of the mesmer class so with this build you can play versatile without changing traits
my goal with this build is to activate the signet at the start of the fight putting 2 iduelist and image giving me enough time to hide blink dodge to for 28 seconds while doing massive condition dmg

the basic PU build 20,20,30,0,0 had only 2 condition removal with torch skills every 24 seconds and with this build you can have 2-5 but with more condition burst and good CC

this build involve around conditions dmg
trait:
domination -10 (vi) – reduce recharge of signets
dueling – 20 (ii,x) – phantasm have fury and create clone whenever you dodge
chaos – 30 (v,viii,xii) basic pu, OR (ix) so signet remove 1 condition, or (x) if taking staff for group play
inspiration – 10 (iv) – healing skill remove 2 conditions

weapon:
sc/t +sw/p – for roaming
staff +sw/p – for group play or more defense play style

gear:
full rabid
runes of perplexity or undead

utilities:
signet of ether, signet of domination, blink or decoy, signet of illusion or veil (for group play), mass invisibility

very strong build which can shutdown fast so you can use you phantasm more freely
and punished enemy for killing you phantasm and clones with conditions and retaliation dmg

i disagree on some points you made up
1. venom share are strong in organize group(15+). because it enable you to control with whom you share it. with 30,0,30,0,10 build you give your allies 8 stack of might (+280 condition and power dmg), leeching venom which gives (even if all venoms active) ~2200 health, also while bursting it immobilize 3-5 ppl for 10 seconds (3 stack max), stun 1-2 seconds and put conditions on them poison and torment and vulnerability
so basically the group can down fast 3-5 ppl before they can react or get helped
2. in small group less than 15 or in pugs group its shine less as you must stay close to your group and you have hard time to control the share and the burst with them.
3. if time it right before the clash about 10-15 seconds before you activate the venom , than 3-5 seconds until your group doing its burst .so you have 16-23 seconds before its recharge
4. might – dont underestimate it – empower usually ends before the clash but venom will last
5. with the venoms on you, you can take down easily the backline ppl and when your group see 1-2 ppl immobilize they surely will stack on you to finish the kill fast

now the bad parts
1. its one build only so no versatile game play.
2. its need well organize group which team-up with the necro ,engineer range conditions attacks
3. the new healing skills wont fit in this build as you have no defense. you cant control when your group is needed for health and not all of them need it at the same time. and at the first burst no one needs it.
4. its not designed for solo or small scale fight which thieves supposed to shine at

dont try to compare thief skills to other profession alone but as whole. if thief had skill which stun for 3 seconds every 10 seconds we would have been murdering ppl too fast. but i do agree thief really need rethinking and much more buff to scale up with the meta anet created and venom its not the answer.

my conclusion anet took the easy way trying to buff the thief group play. instead of really think about thief role in the group they just look on what they have and try to “buff” it with something hardly anyone uses
few examples of what could have been done:
thief can contribute to the group with stealth as they master of it (not mesmer) so why not give thief that role
thief has high dmg output so why not share it with his party like signet that gives allies more 280 power (more than warrior/ guardians)
thief can share maybe more fury and vigor up time
and why not share high crit dmg or some % with the group
i think know why anet have problem with the thief (its not the stealth). any real buff they want to give the a thief which play with a group is gonna be misused in the hand of solo thief

So...is Venomshare relevant again in WvW?

so after testing the build with the new skelk venom i sry to say it wont fit the full venom build
1v1 very very dangerous to use (2/10)
withdraw gives you 10292 heal in 36 seconds while skel gives you 7960
but the skelk give you the chance to be in lower health as it buff you up more in a 5 seconds so in fast encounter it can be helpful. so if you think you can burst down fast go with it but against necro/engineer/ele be more careful with it

on small group (5 ppl) play it was nice (4/10)
but again only 3500 health gain while not everyone needs it so why use it

with big scale fight (6/10)
again if you alone without group its randomize so only will be helpful to the front line group which are warrior and guardian

i think ppl will have to find other build to use it as with full venom build its useless
maybe d/d set

necros are hard opponents
the best weapon to take them down fast and easy is p/d as it gives you range attack and easy way out from their area marks and wells
you need to stay in stealth longer. lure him to use DS and stealth back with couple of cnd
immobilize him and put bit pressure and on 50% hp he will use heal skills than you have 20 seconds free time to kill him
if he caught you in singet use just run back or use stealth to clear conditions
their tactic it to use heavy condition burst and fear you for 6 seconds skills. so at the start just use cnd much often

first, guardian always run that is their first mistake. if he engage you and put some pressure he would have better chance no to die
second, LB ranger are the easiest to take. try to engage ranger SB+ sw/d with condition dmg they are harder
i never saw you using cnd+steal. i guess you’re trait stealth on steal. so drop it
if use see LB warrior just steal and use it to reflect if he stupid to attack you he will die fast
dont engage engineer inside his kits area lure him out
try to use thieves guild inside SR as they revealed your location even if you in stealth
if you stealth sometime try seconds cnd as enemy usually dodge or using block skills and you’re just losing your sneak attacks for nothing not to mention reflecting them to you

so go guardian you’ll be more supportive than this. its not about why thieves cannot be supportive class as they can but you need to ask yourself if as group leader would you want another guardian or thief as support roll. i think we know the answer for this one.

thieves job is to do dmg first which is support other by not taking dmg from the backline

dont get me wrong. panicond build i come up with was to support my group with more conditions dmg and might and life steal but i was sure not to dismiss my dmg output so i can still contribute between 36 seconds

you want that after your raid your group will ask who was that thief, and say wow etc
with my build even with pugs group i have been noticed that so i know my build contribute. but i dont think that build focus on full supporter build every 36 seconds will be noticed much just because of the new healing skill which give 4-5k healing every 36 seconds only to 4 more ppl

Why not go 20/x/30/x/x or 25/x/30/x/x? Then you have 15-20 skill points to play with. Residual Venom’s hardly worth sacrificing one our remaining Master Minor Traits for.

20,0,30,0,20 for more vigor so bit more dodges up time and soften guardian and ele

but as you find yourself against more tankier or bunker builds you’ll start to feel the pressure of low initiatives combine with low health and armor pool

as for now we know anet want to buff the supporter thief which is nice idea
but they forgot to buff us with ability to be able to support while in fight
we cant go full cleric with 10k hp, low power and with venom share as still other class as ele guardian engineer can do it better with aoe healing skills
we cant go full venom utilities 1 build trick without been able to play very very smartly and carefully (like the panicond build)

but if anet really really want to put us in support area they should really ask themselves what do they want the thief to be
is it stop doing dmg and buff other to do it? i dont think so
are they want that in group fight more thieves will be selected (as for now its about 5% 1/20 ratio)
if they really want to preserve the venom idea and want ppl to use it they really need to give an alternatives to SS,RFI,SR,BP and not push us to invest fully on venom traits

so here are my ideas

i want venom to give a passive benefit and when active to give burst condition dmg/defenese utility much as of now

what we lack as for now with venoms?
1. conditions clearness
2. breakstun
3. health regen
4. stealth
5. boons

spider
passive – every 10 seconds your next hit will pass 1 condition from you to your enemy
active – your next 5 attacks will poison for 7 seconds each (like now)

great tool not OP to much but keep you in safe place for longer fights, if you play tactically you can w8 for burning dmg and than hit it to pass it to your enemy. so great player will benefit from it and average player will just clear condition off them. also make the thief play aggressively as he should
also can fin in the d/x or s/x power spec as they need conditions clear ability beside 1 trait and its nice alternative to SS

skale
passive – when you get dmg over 33% hp you stealth and gain aegis for 3 seconds (icd of 30 seconds)
active – your next 3 attack will torment and vulnerability (like now)

as for now p/d thieves dont have much stealth ability beside cnd and also traits proc on 25% hp and 10% hp which some dont like as they cant control the stealth.
if p/d goes with SR and PB his build only troll as only bleeding as condition wont do much
so i add 33% hp dmg so thieves can shake off huge burst like warrior, other thief, shatter dmg etc and give them a chance to get away and not die like now they do.
if the thief goes with high armor than it maybe wont benefit much only against high zerk builds but zerker thieves would have some chance out there again
also zerk thief with venom would be a nice seen as the vulnerability condition do even more dmg. and wont have to fully trait for it
also can fit in d/x and s/x power builds as they need stealth and some protection from being burst to death if they do little mistake

ice
passive – every 5 seconds your next hit will chill for 1 seconds
active – when triggered it break stun

as for now i think ice venom is the less useable. so being able to chill every 5 seconds for 1 seconds is more control movement and harassing your enemy which may help you sometime if you lucky as their skills will have longer cd and movement will be slower and when needed it will break stun with 45/36 icd its ok like other stun
also suitable in d/x and s/x power build as it break stun and the chill is not condition dmg base

devourer
passive – every 5 seconds you next attack will steal health 1000
active – your next 2 attacks will immobilize

as we lack regeneration while having small health pool while all professions do have it i think its only fair to give it to us also. every 5 seconds 1000 health if we hit is 200 health per seconds so average 150 health per seconds (as not all attacks hit). and also push us to keep play aggressively if we want health. so SR wont help us or other stealth skills as we wont attack from stealth
again it isnt condition dmg base so every other build can use it

passive – every 10 seconds you gain protection for 3 seconds
active – your next attack stun (like now)
as for now not many thieves use it, maybe high zerk build with low health pool. so it wont buff them much as they must to kill fast already or if they didnt manage to do so they just SR (10 seconds for them is long fight) but protection will help all other thief builds out there
this elite makes the thief to choose whether to activate it and lose the protection 30% up time. or use it and stun his enemy if he think its the right time
i think we see less d/x or s/x mindlessly use it and start playing more tactically

so i dont think my suggestions is OP
it will give thieves more options and alternatives in the battle field while pushing them to play aggressively and tactically like it meant to do. also the ability to be more supportive class with full venom share and be able to take venom also with power builds and not fully traited to get the full benefit from venoms so even more builds can use them now

you need to build 30,0,30,0,0 build 10 left wherever.
fully cleric will five you 3k attack 3k armor 10k hp so basically no power and no hp

reminder – Experts at stealth and surprise, thieves can move through the shadows, vanish into thin air, or steal items from their opponents and use them as weapons. Thieves practice an agile, acrobatic fighting style, which can make them very hard to hit.

leech trait will give around 2600 health regen and venom will give around 3800 health regen if not blocked evade miss and 36 cd

so only 4 ppl will be affect by it and as most aoe will be in the front line some misses will be so i bet on 5k heal on average which water ele skill does the same or even better

so how the new healing skills would affect this build?
as you know this build designed for group play (although it can be played as roamer and in 1v1 situations)
if i take venom heal i drop out my 15 seconds self heal, which also cure immobilize, chill, cripple which all are soft cc conditions thieves most hate . so i’ll definitely need another skill to help me with that like ROI which has longer cd so again…
so as the DEV said in livestream venom share build will be even more backline supportive ,as we will have to be even more careful in larger group fight from all those CC out there cause if we dead we are not support anyone
and also maybe put the venom share like a ninja nurse which pop in use venom and pop out again to heal the front line in their burst
also reminder – to gain the most healing buff we will have to time the venoms activation so leech will proc in every venom activation
so skelk venom will give about 3500 hp gain (700*5) plus leech 1600 = 5100 hp gain which is very nice healing burst while fighting but equal/less to the healing gain while restacking with water field and blast
with apothecary jewels you will have leeching venom on around 2100 gain so maybe around total 6100 gain, and with full gear you’ll have 2600 gain and total 7100 gain (but hp loose will be to harsh so i wont recommend it)
also full cleric wont do any good as you be useless 36 seconds
again as full supporter as our healing on cd we will have to be extra careful so maybe even drop 2 venom for SR or SS/ROI

now the question is will group will want that over backline ganker or venom share thief as it is for now? i bet on NO
does any other class can heal like that while doing the burst on the enemy? i bet on YES like ele with water fields and guardians with book

so my conclusion is that in 20 men group which maybe have 1-2 thieves it wont do any better, but in larger scale fight (like 50) it can add something to the fight but again as it effect only 5 ppl it won’t be even noticed. also anet try to push thief class to the support class with no health and no armor buff and no utilities.

i like anet put some effort on thinking on venom but i think they miss it

if let say skelk venom would heal you every seconds (like warrior signet or new mesmer signet – OP) for lets say 500-1000 health and when active could heal for 500-1000 multiply by 4 attacks so 2000-4000 hp gain with some cc removal it could be handy and useful ,
or give 240 range aoe leech passive every seconds would be cool and useful as it will grant a thief area which enemies know that if they attack him he will be healed and they get dmg every seconds

p/s
mesmer (PU mostly) would be even more OP than ever with 1k health every seconds – to kill illusions (stop mesmer regen and get conditions) or not to kill (mesmer regen and i get conditions/dmg 2 times), like Phantasmal Duelist and Phantasmal Berserker hitting twice in zerk build – omg
warrior even harder to kill (i must save my dodges and evades),
engineer even more tricky to kill (stop attacking or he almost fully healed or let him run away),
necro bit harder (all those conditions and red target over my head and dps healing skill),
ranger same (more tankier than ever),
guardian bit harder now but nice change

anet want to buff group play but did exactly the opposite as i think we gonna see more roamer tanky builds which would be harder to kill

pls explain why you choose conditions venom which does only 1500 dmg in 7 seconds by torment and spider which does 3500 dmg in 40 seconds
in power d/d set maybe devourer would be much helpful to immobilize or even ice drake which chill so slower movement and increase in icd of skills by 66%
as in 1v1 you want the fight to be the fastest as you dont have much defense skills

as you notice i am always near a group as i cant/shouldnt roam alone unless i change some utilities (1v1 is ok).
i really like the fight versus the d/d condi thief with DB spamming – check it
if you like more tactics and advices of how to deal in several situation i will try to put a video of them

i even once fought a thief with the same build of mine, he died but we chat and he told me he use panicond build.

Yeah, you are the only one who will die, because if your party member miss the target or get blocked, they still have another healing, you don’t!
Useless in pvp and wvw.

not necessarily, in wvw if you support role dont try to run with the frontline.
get in a party with ele and/or healing guardian and get regeneration protection etc.
venom imo get the thieves out of their “solo cave” into the group playstyle world

as for now with my panic build full venom, groups like me so consider i can heal them on the seconds burst so my group can sustain longer in the burst (and with necro new heal skills also)
can be interesting

agree with cygnus
p/d roamer maybe use only one venom as he need more survivability in 1vX
so 0,0,30,20,20 build more suitable and than maybe 15%*3 runes of bleeding will be something (50%+45%= 95% duration)
but again when roaming its not the duration rather than the dmg. so more higher condition dmg is better than duration
with group its different story you need to support them as much as you can

you cant stack condition duration more than 100% so your bleed in your build is above 100% (45+10+86) (while mine is 95%)
so change runes

and i use centaur runes for aoe swiftness so change thrill of crime as you dont need fury and 1 stack of might is bit low

so galde more ppl starting to use venoms

if buff the venom skills we will see more solo venom build
i dont really want to see skale venom doing 8 stacks of torment with 2 hits – i think it will be op as thieves could do with shadow strike 2 more torment. so it will be like perplexity rune fast stacking engi build.
spider already has nice duration

so instead of power it up anet should gives it more defensive tools like stunbreaks, conditions clearness, stealth maybe etc so ppl may choose which skills to use and not be fixed on SR,BP,SS ect…
