I wouldn’t call it obsolete when comparing to a system that people have been very up front about not wanting. There are the few that want the EotM system but we as a WvW community have seen what that system has done, do you want WvW to become nothing more than a Karma train with players avoiding other players ?
EOTM is a karma train because it offers huge rewards for k training. A functional factional system is exactly what the game needs, the server system is a failure for large scale PvP.
Both of these and for the most part this entire thread are absurd. The population limits have been set FAR TOO LOW!
Yeah this is spot on and has been obvious since FA slipped from full to very high.
Well… They have 5 days left to game the system. The launch of HoT will reactivate a lot of dead accounts.
servers have been taking last few weeks off trying to game it for last month or so…
Will be interesting to see what happens cause 1 particular server will have been doing it for around a month when HOT hits. But I agree the serves should be locked now for at least a couple of weeks after HOT launches.
Ok, so you’re argument that we have “no profession mechanic” in PvE is flat out wrong and it’s pretty clear that it’s just a poor use of rhetoric to veil your real grudge, which is that you don’t like a mechanic that focuses on reviving players.

He is saying that effectively or functionally it has no profession mechanic, not literally, and in those terms he is right. Scrapper has a lot of good points but the elite profession mechanic is the worst of all the classes.

Please try to control your emotion people. You’re just giving more DATA that says the WvW forums will react with anger to nearly any heads up to anything you ever try to change about WvW.
If we as a community actually had the potential to be a bit more open about change I bet this along with actual improvements we WANT would have gone through long ago. Instead we fight and argue about nearly anything any Dev states on these forums. Real productive, that.
Why are people angry though? Its because they are making a change that is clearly for the worse for the majority of the playerbase, a change announced at the last minute with no consultation. And its a change that further marginalises segments of the population that are in severe decline. I get sick of people saying that we shouldn’t get angry when we are treated poorly. The fact that so many are angry tells anet something. If they just close their minds to it because player are angry then its their loss.
The CDi threads along with recent communcation about lag and siege tells you that people will discuss issues without anger if its communicated right.
Problem is that ppl will always blame everything but themselves. While in reality its their own mechanical skill or lack of mapawarness thats the problem.
Its been explained enough times that the system should take this into acount to give everyone a 50% win ratio.

This is kind of what I was getting at trapper runes are barely better than perplexity insofar as trolley kind of runes go.
Yeah this is how I see it.
With moving the reset time to a less busy part of the day they preventing the massive queue to occur. The biggest part of the players are going to log in between afternoon and early night so the stress on the servers are lessened somehow.
Also since practically there is/was no point to log in Friday afternoon to play wvw everybody organised their time to play Friday night.
With this change somebody can log in any time Saturday and enjoy the new match.
Yeah except they changed it back to the original time change of Sat afternoon/evening for NA.
If you really want to kitten players desires you would do an actual poll before making such decisions. I’ve got some sympathy for the argument about moving reset away from when you are actively patching HOT but its clear the player base doesn’t like it on the whole.
And yet a poll wouldn’t give a true view either. Data does give unaltered information that is not biased about people being kittened off at the moment. Poll results might not.
The data shows nothing about what people actually want, yes a self selected poll is not completely reliable but it would give more data for them to base their decision on, more than just metrics on how many players are in WvW Sat, this is unarguable.
I want to address something I’ve seen creep into this discussion from a few forum members. The original plan (call it Plan A, Saturday evening) was adjusted due to what seemed to be preponderant base of opinion from players. It was temporarily thought that going to a Saturday morning reset, Plan B, would be better, based on the first set of comments in this thread. But when it became clear that no, Plan B was actually not as good for players as a whole, the team then went back to Plan A. At absolutely no time did someone come up with a plot to manipulate you. At no time did someone say something in an insincere way , as in “let’s present Plan B to make Plan A appear better.” Both plans were an honest attempt to balance player desires with developer realities. The Saturday reset is needed, as John explained, and of the two options, based on your feedback, the evening reset is the best for the majority of players. That’s where we are right now, and you can be sure that there was no conspiracy involved in the outcome.

Hello All,
There are a couple of reasons for the change to reset time. One is for the overall quality of the game. The last few years we have been careful to not disrupt the WvW reset time but this has at times made it difficult for our team to address issues during reset day. This change will give our team an extra day of the week that they can use to respond to issues that may occur with WvW or any other area of the game if it is necessary. In the early days we wanted reset to be during a weekday to ensure we had people available to monitor the game at reset time, but at this point we have seen the ongoing stability of World vs. World and resetting on a weekday is no longer necessary.
Another reason is the emergent gameplay that has come from reset. It has become one of the most exciting times for WvW and we would really love for more players to have the opportunity to experience it. We have many more players logging in on Saturday than on Friday which means with this change many more people will be available to experience the rush of claiming objectives for their world during reset.
However, given the concerns posted here we will be moving the Saturday reset to earlier in the day to give most players the majority of the day to enjoy the start of the new match. Immediately after launch the new time will be 11am PDT / 2pm EDT (6 pm UTC) for NA and 11am BST / 12 pm CEST (10 am UTC) for EU. Keep in mind that the following week with the end of Daylight Savings Time / Summer Time the reset times will be pushed even earlier to 10am PST/ 1pm EST and 10am GMT / 11am CET.
So you want more players to experience it but then you make it even harder for ocx and sea players to do reset. This does not compute and makes us feel like we don;t matter.
And sorry but in T1 NA there are more queues on reset now than there are on the next day so that statement about more players logging on on Saturday sounds slightly disingenuous.
However I can appreciate the fact that current reset time makes it difficult to patch the game.

Actually from what I understand the GvG guilds are moving back to T2.
This isn’t just a bad thing for the players, it is a bad business decision as well. The fact that this change actually made it through what was probably several people at different levels within the company is scary.
A lot of their decisions come across to me exactly like this, so much so that I don’t think they have a robust review process at all.
I have both Champion Genius and Magus and its definitely Engi.
Why is silk weaving thread not being addressed? The cost is extremely unfair to light armour professions.
They did and the answer was that they frankly don’t give a kitten.

Still though I’m not really opposed to this change or many others but I’d just like to know what’s going on and why they thought it was a good idea. You have an idea, you should have to create an argument for why it’s a good idea. Now surely it’s not my game to decide what happens and if it’s because it was in their mood to do so, I’d probably settle for that. But explanations are still desired and this will impact people’s schedules so if they’re upset, I think it’s understandable.
Yep, I agree can you push them to provide an explanation. As I’ve been saying if its due to them wanting to ensure reset is unaffected by patches then its probably an understandable reason.
However as an OCX player the game mode is reaching crisis point, until HOT release there is very little OCX action happening happening in T1 NA at all and this change affects OCX most of all therefore they risk the OCX pop pretty much dying off with such changes. This has to be taken into account.
^^^ In future please dont launch “Non Critical Patches” during first few hours of reset.
It make the entire WvW community feel like irrelivant plebs of GW2.

This change is probably to ensure that doesn’t happen. Its all very well to demand that critical patches don’t be done on a Friday but I’m unsure if that feasible.
ANet said there would be some settling time after a patch before they start a league. HoT release will have a patch, so at least 2 weeks before they start up. Maybe more depending on how bad it is.

League of Legends has the same philosophy, and I wouldn’t say they haven’t reached esports levels.
I just hope you aren’t trying to compare the balancing frequency of league to the balancing frequency of GW2. It isn’t even in the same ball park. League is an eSport and balances often. GW2 tries to balance twice a year.
But they are now committing to balancing every quarter after each season.
You need more options ie moving it to Thursdays or Mondays. Not voting as it stands.
- WvW’s reset time will be changed to be 24 hours later in NA and EU. It will now occur on Saturdays instead of Fridays.

I know Anet doesn’t do a lot of it, but they could think about that for about 4 seconds and realize this was a bad idea.

- The gold from completing a dungeon is getting nerfed not removed.
- The TP will take on a new equilibrium for the majority of its items, high priced stuff like charged lodestones and giant eyes are surely to fall with map rewards while others are going up due to demand with HoT recipes.
- The demand for t5 materials is getting improved to get closer towards silk’s price with new HoT recipes.
Why shouldn’t silk price be reduced to the price of other mats? Why is the high price of silk desirable for all mats?

I’m okay with reducing the gold output of dungeons, but I’m not okay with reducing the value of playing dungeons. Replace parts of the gold with T6 materials, lodestones, or something that matters to someone and can be sold to recoup some of the value. Don’t just take away the gold and give it nothing in return. A number of people play dungeons because they’re valuable even in spite of how old and unsupported they are; reducing their value will move those people elsewhere and that’s not good.
He answered that in mines, they dont want dungeons to be as desired an activity regardless
This leads me to believe it is exactly what I stated in another post about this. They are nerfing dungeons because they are afraid the new content won’t look appealing unless they finalize their abandonment of dungeons and make it not viable.
I think what they are trying to do is deflate the economy a bit and when we get to that deflated state, the 20g you get a day from dungeons will be way more gold than you can get doing anything else, so I think that’s where they are going with this and i’m okay with it, I love my dungeons just as much as anyone else, but I understand bringing value back to items, it’s not an easy task for them to do and I really am grateful that my 5 gold will go a lot farther

Delay before the dragonhead falls reduced to 0.5 sec.It already has a 1 sec casttime. The current delay on top of that is to large and makes it to easy for enemies to avoid it in numerous ways. A 0.5 sec delay would be fair.
Agree with this, its pretty ridiculous that they made it ground targeted without any adjustment to the cast time and no adjustment to damage is needed the fact that its ground targeted is enough of a nerf.

Ect.If you want Reward Tracks, stick to sPvP.
The point is, sPvP has way better rewards, requires 0 gold to play in, and 0 time leveling / gearing…
When you put it like that its kitten ing. I know I make a lot more from pvping than from WvW.
Stealth gyro, as many have pointed out, has several issues with pathing, priorities and movement speed. I think an easy fix would be to have it “insta-cast” a buff on the engineer from range that gives him an aoe stealth effect. This would keep the stealth aoe centered on the engineer and not on the buggy pathing gyro. You could limit its casting range to whatever seemed to work to avoid it simply become Mass Invis 2
Make the stealth gyro aply AoE stealth on the engineer even if it’s not close, and replace the destroy command with a way to order the gyro to move where you want. It would make up for the fact that the gyro is visible, and create some interesting way of using it. You could create diversion for exemple.

Maybe Anet just can’t figure out pvp without the help of Morello who is now at Riot. Is it just coincidence that GW2 pvp is a mess and League of Legends is absolutely killing it?
Comparing GW2 to League of Legends is not a good comparison.
No MMO PvP mode will ever come close to a MOBA’s PvP.
MOBA is the definition of PvP: “Multiplayer Online Battle Arena.” There is literally no other content aside from the PvP within the game.
A MMO encompasses so much more than just PvP. There is no way an MMO company will have the resources to balance out PvP when compared to a company that purely develops MOBAs. MMO’s have so much more content to focus on.
I agree with your last paragraph and its one reason why GW2 esports was doomed from the start. I like GW2 PvP and I even like watching it, but more resources need to be devoted to it than Arenanet clearly wants or is able to.
However I don’t think mobas are the definition of PvP, they are a specific type of PvP game but there are a lot of people who don’t like them (such as myself FWIW). There is a market for other PvP specific game types, it will be interesting to see how Overwatch goes just for example.

It wasn’t a lie there is just more than 1 bug, likely something that is not in the ability itself but something to do with marginal changes in terrain as other abilities have been affected similarly.

Enemy Chronomancer Wells dont show up as a red ring (indicative of enemy AoE) and Chrono v Chrono duels are pretty silly as a result. How do we differentiate our wells from the enemies? Especially in situations where everyone is unloading AoE…

I feel if more builds wanted to be opened up with Scrapper, the 10% extra damage for Hammer should be baseline.
Because without it, the Hammer dmg is really undertuned.

My feedback:
Damage on hammer needs to be increased slightly.
Rocket charge is really hard to control and just feels wonky. It needs to be reworked a bit so its smoother and we have more control or it just consistently follows our target.
Gyros are too slow, they can’t keep up when I’m moving.
Only gyro I ended up using consistently was sneak gyro, bulwark gyro might be OK in a bunker build but dies too easily. But as noted in my point above it didn’t keep up with me.
Function gyro I didn’t see any feedback as to its rezzing or stomping and so didn’t know if it was effective or if it had been knocked off. Needs to be some sort of status indicator.
As has been noted in other threads before the weekend function gyro is a poor elite mechanic, a very minor mechanic change to base engineers as compared with other elite specs. This is exactly how it turned out.

Bit hard to make any conclusions over this weekend given it as beta weekend.
Happening again the following night. Tier 1 NA, ping of over 4,000 from Aust. when theres a fight of 40-50, principally in EBG tonight. Something has definitely happened with the patch. I’m not the only one from Aust. who is having the issue.

I believe most of us are worried because a Scrapper that choose to not use Hammer or Gyros still get good traits, but end stuck with a totally irrelevant spec mechanic.
Improving the utility Gyros is way less important than making a better “signature mechanic”, at least to me.I don’t understand why someone would use the Scrapper trait line if they don’t intend to actually use the hammer or gyros. That’s like taking Explosives and not using grenades or bombs.
The traits do benefit other weapons and utilities. Chronomancer is similar in that shield won’t be required to use the spec effectively. This is why they are the elite specs with the 2 best set of traits.

To all of you saying that if one can not handle the squad management that this new system will entail, then we shouldn’t command: I say you don’t command much yourselves.
Sure, this will be easy to set things up at the beginning of a raid, however, people are constantly coming and going throughout the night. We’re picking up pugs, loosing pugs. Guildies come and go. This means the commander is going to have to constantly be checking the squad ui and manage parties.
The commanders in my guild do this anyway. However it would be good to allow some squad members to have admin type rights to perform some squad management duties.
It also seems to me that this was created more out of necessity for raids, rather than WvW, and it was expanded to accomodate the WvW community.
It has been one of the most requested changes for WvW since launch.
