Dragonhunter revealed... meh

That name is so generic. In essence, we’re all dragon hunters. We’ve killed Teq, Shatterer, claw of Jormag, Zhaitan, etc.

Why couldn’t they just use something from GW1? Was that game so bad that they want to ignore it? Use it’s lore!

Here’s the GW1 “dragon hunter”, http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/The_Dragon_Hunter
As you can see, it has nothing to do with the new Guardian spec. lol.

I’m salvaging so much, that i no longer hover over the item to see which quality it is. I like the popup that says it’s a rare or higher quality.

GW2 needs less loot in my opinion, and the loot should be quality > quantity.

Quite impressive to have been playing a game for 3 years when it have only been out for about 2,5.

I am also questioning if you have tried the new areas or the new/updated world bosses. Since they are very much not easier than stuff at launch.

You are also missing the fact that there is an expansion coming that is basically only for veteran players (only contains max-level stuff as far as we know).

IMO, you have two really good points that are completely undermined by one pedantic kitten statement.

There has been a fair amount of new content. Much of it temporary. We are, admittedly, in a content lull right now. But it’s not like there’s been nothing for veteran players.

For example, in the past two years we have had Festivals, Living Story 1 & 2, WvW Seasons, Guild Missions, Fractals, Ascended Everything, Revamped Teq, Wurm, PvP stuff (I don’t play PvP, but I’m sure there’s been something), WvW ranks, and revamped borderland maps.

Yes, but when you compare that content to other MMOs, you will see how miniscule it really is. Just go look at any MMO wiki and look at their content release updates. GW2 pales in comparison.

That’s just being technical with dates. It’s close enough.

Some of his points are valid. Stop focusing on that one thing.

The way i see it, there isn’t enough fun.

Same dungeons and pvp maps. Only one WvW map, which turned into PvE. Two small zones, Dry Top & Silverwastes. And then Living Story.

All this for nearly 3 years.

People complain about clipping, and when you mix and match individual pieces, it happens a lot. If people would stop crying over some minor clipping issues, then maybe Anet wouldn’t have to worry about it so much. Clipping will always happen, until there are better rigging options available in MMOs. It’s all about the rigging.

  • The fact that you have not committed to a release date for HoT and still hype it up while it’s in early beta shows that you guys do not have the confidence to set a date, do not have enough staff to have that confidence, and will probably release the expansion “unfinished,” which might be a subjective word to you, but, again, FFXIV Heavensward will be a “finished” product. They’ve already gone into detail about what you’ll be getting, a lot more than your cute little “we’re nowhere done yet, even though it’s been 3 years to work on an expansion, but here’s where we think we are and where we think we’re going.”

This is the only part i agree with, but the rest of your post is biased, or unworthy of replying to.

It’s really astonishing that Anet hyped an expansion, with nothing else to do in between.

They get everyone hyped, with no release date in sight. Do they really think people are going to wait? The hype for HoT is dead now. It might be alive within the community, but i’m talking about outside of it. They should have kept interest in the game with upcoming content updates after the HoT announcement, but they failed at that. it’s going to be almost 6 months since the announcement, with nothing to look forward to. GW2 is so boring right now.

Beta key drop rates??

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: nexxe.7081

nexxe.7081

I think their low drop rate on this beta key might not be as much of a problem if it could be dropped from everywhere. But why limit it to DryTop and SilverWastes? If it dropped from all areas of the game, then it would still be rewarding active players, and you could have a chance at getting it by going about doing what you want to do… seems like a win-win to me.

Making you go to the two grindiest maps in the game and farm the same content over and over for hours, if not days, just seems like a really bad decision on ArenaNet’s part though.

Agreed, but i think they wanted to tie it in with some lore behind it, since it’s a “portal” to the next zone. I can understand the reasoning, even if i don’t like it..

I won’t farm it ever again, and i only farmed it because i wanted to see what the drop rate would be like. It’s not worth my time though. I’d rather just do other things in real life.

It is in only 2 zones and the beta keys will drop from time to time so it is part of the issue ..

Not all of us are whining about drop rates. Some of us are unhappy that it’s relegated to only 2 zones, which makes it very boring and repetitive. It would’ve been nice if it was obtainable by other means.

I understand they wanted to make it relevant to the HoT/Modremoth story, but they could’ve expanded it to living story chapters, or even pvp.

Oh well, i won’t lose any sleep over it, but you shouldn’t dismiss other people’s concerns.

F\
This is a flagrant double standard. At this point, we need to do one of two things:

  • Immediately restore the human female idle animations

- or -

  • Immediately remove mini pets from the game until they can be “fixed” to behave properly during cutscenes.

Bring back the animations! ’Nuff said.

Uh?

Minis are optional items that are often designed to be silly.

I don’t see how someone having one out that happens to mess with the mood of the setting is as weighty an issue as having the player character, which is mandatory, react poorly to the mood of the setting.

I understand the animations need to be fixed, but thats a reallllly huge leap to try to make your point.

No it’s not. It’s exactly the same thing. Whether it’s the silly minis ruining the immersion or a stretch or some tree branch being in the wrong spot. It’s the same thing. The player character did not react poorly to anything, it (just like Kasmeer and other npcs were) was playing out an idle animation while being idle. In a scripted cutscene. That you watch once, maybe twice. Then you are done. Not bothered by it anymore. But you are standing idle elsewhere more often than being in that one particular godkitten ed kittening cutscene.

But if the mini aggravates you, you can turn it off. That’s the difference I’m pointing at.

Then Anet should force minis to be disabled, since they want to be authoritarian about the whole issue of their cinematics. God forbid their “precious” cutscenes be ruined by immersion!

I just find it amateurish that they would remove them without even having a fix planned, especially since it was never game-breaking.

I’m not really sure what you don’t understand about that.

That still doesn’t explain the double standard. Why would they remove the animations if they didn’t even have a fix planned? That’s sloppy management. It’s just amateur. It’s not like it was game-breaking or crashing computers.

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/specializations-part-one-a-primer/

How will the new stats & trait changes affect zerker?

Base player stats will be increased from 926 to 1000.

Base attribute points on equipment will be increased so that all the gear in the game will give higher stats than it did before. This should account for most of the missing points.

Each profession’s attributes will be updated to have half of their functionality be part of a specialization and half of their functionality will be a baseline for that profession.
For example, elementalists now have a base attunement recharge of 10 seconds, which is reduced to 8.7 seconds when the arcane specialization is equipped.

As soon as that HoT hype train was started, a lot of my guildies knew they were just gonna take a break until HoT releases, which is exactly what anet decided to do- take a break and so now we are in this lull period until HoT release.

You make it sound like the expansion is developing itself. ArenaNet is probably working even more intensively now than they did before they announced the expansion. They are in no way or form “taking a break”.

I’m pretty sure he meant taking a break from the usual living story and feature pack stuff. It’s obvious to everyone they are working on HoT.

Once again though, they leave their playerbase in the dark, and then speculation runs rampant. We haven’t heard of anything new for almost 4 months now, except some tidbits about HoT. We have no idea when HoT is even releasing. It could be in 6 months, or it could be in a year.

Quite frankly, it’s arrogant of the people in charge, to do this to their playerbase. They hype up their fans, then go dark, and think they will always have their loyalty. That loyalty fades over time when people have had enough. Many veterans have already abandoned the game, and only log in for the daily reward. When your game gets to that point, it’s no longer worth playing, and then it leads to uninstalling.

Where did all the players go?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: nexxe.7081

nexxe.7081

What is killing it right now is the complete lack of anything to do that is even remotely fresh or fun. Where ANet fell down on this was to send out the hype train so early, and then fail to release any content whatsoever in the meantime just to keep people interested.

This sums exactly what’s wrong with GW2 currently. They conjured all this hype surrounding HoT, and failed to follow up with any interesting.

The sad part is, they’ve had so many new players join the game, and this was the perfect opportunity to keep them invested longer. Imagine all those new players that bought GW2 due to HoT’s hype, and have now quit because of boredom. A wasted opportunity.

Where did all the players go?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: nexxe.7081

nexxe.7081

And that’s why people complain about Guild Wars 2 recently. We got Living Story updates and content every two weeks to two months, depending on certain situations, and now we’re getting nothing. In a nutshell, ANet set a certain standard of expectations with their continual updates.

Now? We get nada until some undisclosed time in the future. Maybe this summer? Maybe this Christmas? Maybe next year?

See the problem? I know I am and so are a lot of players. Thus this thread and the exodus.

And yet everyone with any sort of understanding of reality would know that it could not go on for ever. Especially not if they were going to start releasing expansions. Which interestingly enough those of us that preferred the Living Story system warned about when people were demanding expansions. And here we are.

There is no exodus. People can claim that all they want, but the fact that there are daily posts about people just starting the game or coming back to the game suggest otherwise. So does actual activity in the game itself.

These people aren’t staying for the long term. It’s a short term investment.

It’s just like a themepark in real life. You get people on the ride, then funnel them out quickly so others can have a ride.

There is no long term investment for gw2.

Where did all the players go?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: nexxe.7081

nexxe.7081

It’s funny seeing people blame others, for wanting an expansion. That’s just a load of bs. Almost all other MMO’s release content patches between expansions. It keeps the existing playerbase interested. Even Gw2 did it with Feature Packs and Holiday Events, but not this time. There is absolutely no new content since January. At the least they could’ve released an Easter holiday event.

Just look at the link: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/

As always, their policy keeps their players in the dark. They will never learn their lesson on this stupid policy. This just reaffirms that GW2 resources were siphoned to fund WS, which bombed disastrously.

Well, as i said on page 2 (in above link), which is over 9 months ago, i seriously doubt Anet will focus on housing.

Ever since then… Swtor has released their housing system and expanded on it greatly. WS has their own form, WoW has Garrisons, and Tera released Guild Housing.

id have to say pushing HoT while failing to deliver any content in the mean time is a very questionable and risky decision i personaly know at least 15 players who have droped out and at least 4 of those have stated they will not return

continuous and regular content updates have been the only thing keeping this game going when it so clearly lacks end game content for players who have been here from the start and now this insanely long wait with no new content is killing the game for alot of players who are simply bored stupid re running the same content over and over again

I have to agree. They should’ve had some content to keep people interested. But this is the norm for GW2. Lite on content. It’s been several months since the HoT announcement. It makes me wonder if they dissolved one of their teams or merged them all for HoT.

Just imagine walking from Frostgorge Sound to Cursed Shore without a loading screen.

You’ll still be blocked by mountains too high, but you’ll have the freedom to travel through different routes to another zone. This isn’t possible with GW2, since the only way out is through a portal or waypoint.

It is according to this list.

http://www.mmorpg.com/showFeature.cfm/feature/9594/The-List-5-Awesome-BuytoPlay-MMOs.html

1) Guild Wars 2
Coming up on three years since launch, Guild Wars 2 remains as one of the best MMOs on the market and easily the best all-around MMO in the buy-to-play bracket. The amount of content that’s been released over the past 2 ½ years for no additional charge is absolutely staggering; everything from new features, new modes and maps, and even a constantly evolving storyline has helped this game continuously change and evolve over time.

With its first paid expansion on the horizon, there has never been a better time to jump in on the Guild Wars 2 craze. Virtually all aspects of the game, from the combat, to the questing, to the server-wide warfare, and competitive PvP modes offers a fresh take for the genre that you won’t find anywhere else. Plus, the game is on sale all the time so chances are you can hop in at a fraction of the standard price and get ready for the expansion later this year.

It’s good to see GW2 leading the pack. Hopefully more MMO’s follow the trend.

Well, if we’re going to be proscriptive, maybe we should go back to the root of the word.

If “wyvern” is derived from the latin word “vipera”, the “v” is pronounced as “w”, and the “i” would be a short vowel. Pronouncing the “i” as “ae” would be incorrect, and the “i” would be pronounced as it is in “whip”.

This only applies if we’re being proscriptive instead of descriptive though. ;p

Not only that but 10 wins is too much for the reward. 5 wins is even too much. It’s not like the game is really fun either. It just feels like a daily chore. It’s actually more than 10 because you aren’t guaranteed to win 10 in a row. I would rather be doing somethng else than ride out this grind.

It should be changed with 3 games to win, or 5 games total.
