it means THEY got me for " neg criticism in clever disguise".
Know that it has been fun and I love ya all.
I would be more bitter about the guardian himself does not receive the benefit of the flames (i.e. condi removal)
Well, alacrity is considered a very powerful buff, that’s why there’s only a handful abilities granting access to it. Chill is basically a reversed-alacrity + cripple and there are quite many skills to give chill across many classes, quite powerful , wouldn’t you say? So I wouldn’t say this “nerf” is unjustified.
As Anet is convinced that the problem with shield is the CD, could we get some statistics on who has switched from Focus to gei…. shield after the awesome CDR from the latest patch.
May I add that they mistakenly nerfed shield 5 by removing the 2 second blocking after the channeling (when the guard crouched down holding up his shield) thinking it was a bug. It wasn’t. Because, the shield duration is stated being 4 second. You channel for 2 second, and it continues to last for another 2 more seconds. They “fixed” it by removing the post-channel 2 second shield duration.
(edited by quaniesan.8497)
It’s a good challenge and loots, but it’s too long for the rewards, especially if you only get like an hour to play per day. It’s long because there’s alot of unnecessary draggings. It’s painful to watch that dredge carrying things to checkpoint(s), even if you do speedbuff on him. Can they just speed up the process.
why? because it’s Anet.
The bug that they ‘FIXED" wasn’t a bug. Why? Because you channel for 2 second, the shield then last for another 2 second, thus a total of 4 second per description. Alot of idiots with so much time in their hands were mistaken this for a bug and reporting it, forgetting to read (assuming they could read) the full description. And Anet has always been finding ways to nerf Guardian, they saw this as a perfect chance to further nerf the class in the guise of bug fixing, so now you only get a 2 seconds worth of blocks. The next updates about shield will read “Fixing a typo in shield 5 description, which will now read 2 seconds instead of 4”.

how often do you have all 5 guards? last time i checked, party are at least 3 mesmers.
Guess what smite procs a lot of? You guessed it. VoJ burns.
Assuming all the hits landed yeah. Last time I check, enemies like to move around. Radiance burns too, alot more. If you dont have symbols, you waisted few traits on symbols already.
You could say the same thing about the axe or GS sword for warrior though. I don’t even mind if they move it up to other tiers.
As title. I don’t see what the scepter trait is doing in the symbol line while its other counter part (right hand strength) is in Radiance. Why not merge them together.
and yes, they still frequently miss but can be reliably reflected back at you.
The trap trait must also have 20% CDR as guardians’ trap CD looks painfully long for the effect. Since bleeding damage is nerfed per stack for a higher stack cap, a few stack by trap isn’t going to make any difference. So it’s a pretty meh trait even if you pick traps for utility.
FMW + full Lyssa = >=) ? though the 2nd and maybe the 4th bonuses are very meh.
DH line is a nerf line, not a trait line.
Finally a challenge for the hardcore players,i was getting tired of these stupid world easy bosses please don’t Nerf them.because then it wouldn’t be no point in getting the fun out of the boss.If you die then try again until success.I hope people don’t keep crying in these forums cause they cant get the kill it always happens in every MMO.
so high and mighty, like this snob was doing all the work himself. In reality, he was the one doing 1111111 and raged when things went sour.
Maybe I missed it, but did Anet said that the ….um… Dragonhunter (lol, LOL), when activate his virtues, would still grant the base active effect to allies? Say if you throw the spear thing, would people around you still burn in their next attack?
I could see why Anet would pick Warhorn over a new mainhand: less skills to implement!
Anet is the king of lazy solution. Sure there’s issue with conditional damage in some pve contents, but they can’t possibly use a one-size-fit-all “solution” without understanding the EXTEND of the issue. Issues like these can’t be fixed with solution involves only integer (i.e. X*2). Now stop having meetings about gemstore and spend at least 5 minutes about real issues, anet.
OP only asked that ANET not try to represent the entire player base by posting political statements since the entire player base doesn’t agree
They never said anything about representing the players, they represent themselves. And posting political statement doesn’t mean “representing the players”. Don’t make up fake argument.
(edited by quaniesan.8497)
I’m referring to this: https://twitter.com/GuildWars2/status/614560129573351424
Please remember that a very large portion of your player base doesn’t agree with the court’s decision today.
“very large” ? how much is it? you mean you and Mr “gamer” Ted Cruz? Anet can expressive their opinion. If you disagree with, turn off the browser. No one asks anyone to insist on sitting on fire and complain why it is hot.
No, just make them be able to cleanse conditions.
I see alot of complains about it’s getting boring because world bosses become so much easier because of condition damage. Then how about world bosses to be able to periodically cleanse themselves, or converting them to some boons, to prolong the challenge that everyone love so much.
when you have all 5 of the same class, there is always something that get “abused”. Like 5 mesmers, 15 phantasms going at boss, or chained time bubble. Or 5 shout heal warriors. It’s pointless to argue at the extremity of things.
It is borderline op. A-net conveniently forgets what they found op at one point (high uptime quickness) and then re-introduces it again. Not that I am complaining.
You are complaining. I could smell someone got bitter because he couldn’t even see the initial animation to kite away and got spinned to death by a guaridan.
I’m sorry, 1200 never felt appropriate. 600 feels much better.
Is that so? how about 300? or how about no range at all, would that make you super happy? People like you are merchants’ dream customers. Not that many customers out there demands less for the money.
(edited by quaniesan.8497)
It was a big hype for me, truth to be told. But when the real thing comes, it’s abit of disappointment. The range is small, as everyone said. The casting time is unreasonable, here is why: When you even consider using a full heal for the group, the current situation must be ….not going so well. Now, upon activation, you are locked in that animation for the duration of casting. When you open your eyes after almost 5 seconds, expecting gratitude showering on you: BAM! everyone is already dead.
Having to run to the place where you want the WoR < can apply it there from distance
Ever used line of warding?
Here’s another question: how does it feel getting hit by a missile (you are trying to reflect) while still trying to position your wall? Just like Storm, I absolutely agree that , in most cases, where you want the wall is right in front of you. Very few situation that a ranged WoR being very useful ( for example, when zergs are about to clash), otherwise it’s just clunky at best. I would go with statistics.
(edited by quaniesan.8497)
Did everyone enjoy the global nerf to group buff’s range (1200—->600), be it shout, virtue, elem’s water etc…? I’m still trying to understand Anet’s sincere and fervent hatred for ranged class. That nerf means, if you are a ranged class with 600+ range, you are …abit left out in group buffs. Ranged class being ranged for a reason: they are squishy. They are squishy for a reason: they are ranged. Now Anet practically forces ranged folks to stop they are doing (hassle much?) and abandon the safety of range just to get the buffs they normally would have gotten. Either that or front line people falls back to give everyone the buff along with the mobs too,. It’s just clunky group’s operation. And I know Anet has been singing the song " be rewarded for skillful play" to justify their nerfs. Hey Anet, I beg the differ: there’s a difference between “game play challenge” and “just plain annoyance”, and there’s a difference between “rewarded” and “given back what previously had”. There’s nothing “skillful” in people repeatedly abandoning posts to get a buff. And didn’t we have a conversation condemning “group stacking” because it’s just gimmicky and cheap game play? What you are doing is basically encouraging even more group stacking.
I understand the ground targeting seems like an upgrade, it’s quite useful in wvw. Now when it comes to real game play, i do find the new WoR is extremely clunky. Placing it on the ground takes abit of your concentration away from combat, especially when the wall’s orientation keep wiggling when you try to make it face the right direction with mouse wheel. Placing it on the ground takes away quite a few second from your focus in what’s going on. In a way, I see it as a nerf. I never find WoR so difficult to use previously. Can’t you just either remove it or make the wall always facing the camera?
There is nothing new here to complain about … we have always had traits aimed at specific weapons. If you took those lines and didn’t use those weapons, same as before. Patch hasn’t changed anything in that respect.
True, but not true. But previously we did more other choices. Did you look at the new adepts for Honor? mace, falling damage and revival traits and nothing else. They are not exactly something you would pick previously, no? So the patch did change in that respect: less other choices. Tell me, if you don’t use mace but need to take honor line, which other adept trait that you would use?
Not every trait spread is going to yeild you optimal results … just like before the patch. Nothing new here.
I never said anything about “optimal result”. Don’t put words in my mouth. Enough of your strawman. You avoided answering my points and resorting to making up a fake argument i never made, that proves how short your logics line is. Nothing about "optimal ", it’s about practical choices. Traits are situational but All three choices in Honor adepts take it to the next level. Basically, if you don’t use mace, you will have to pick the other two which were almost always never picked for pve.
I just logged in today and saw my mesmer gave my guardian a pat on the shoulder with a grin, then my guardian murdered him. Obviously, now i have to make a new mesmer.

Is that so. I was supprised why it was in GM, i guess they did buff it. Not sure if it can compete with other choices though. If it’s damage that we need, there can be better choices.
Mace is great.
But doesn’t mean I have to carry it to make the adept trait worth while, otherwise they are there just to be there. Mace is slower than a collect call back in the 2000s.
I don’t mind new players also get the base game for same amount of money, but I was abit disappointed they didn’t at least give a character slot for the new class on the base version while knowing fully well a super majority of people already used up their slot to try out other classes (buy-my-gems much?). But now they have addressed the issue, so I got nothing else to complain, (well except the guardian’s range nerf thingy and the shield, and the aegis clipping, and the sword skills, and the symbol line that got scepter in it, and… well, nvm that’s another talk for a later time).
About the pricing, some people gotta stop complain it being too high. I wasn’t surprised it’s $50 or so. The $39.99 age is so 2005, though I would have loved it but oh well. No complain from me on that aspect.
Now they agreed to at least add a new character slot, I got nothing else to complain.
Making a new class while purposely not adding new extra slot on kitten exp is quite a d—k move. It’s yelling: buy my gems. It’s amazing there’s alot of company’s pets out there fervently defending Anet’s move for no good reason (i.e. “how dare you demand from ANET a character slot for me/us” .
look at that, Mr. Anet’s personal guard is all ganged up. No that I feel sorry. Here’s a little tip: next time, when people are trying to protect your interest (i.e. calling out Anet’s screwups), don’t bark back at the hands that shield you.
Veteran players have already gotten their fair share of free stuff, living story which if these new players want to experience they have to pay for, free level 20 boosts for being active during the anniversaries, free skins, free level 80’s if you didnt waste your tomes, and who knows what else was given out.
First off, I hate your gut, you Anet’s pet, OP. What free skins? you mean the ones that we paid for when we bought the game? The game itself isn’t free, it’s not free MMORPG that everyone in the world with a computer and internet can just download. that’s means you cannot get living story unless you bought the game. Therefore, none of the “free stuff” is free, because you gotta pay the entrance fee, so SHUT it. I don’t get this Anet’s guard-dog mentality of these people. We are trying to get something more for the money we will be paying to protect old players, (the OP included) since people pratically buy the old game twice. This OP guy just went “bark bark bark” at everyone, and assuming that we could get something extra, he would just quietly enjoy it too. So OP: wagging your tail to anet wont rain you any precusor.
I agree that it needs more bumps.
No, I think the funniest thing about this is that if someone doesnt have an argument they pull something like Quaniesan, yet people are wanting a character slot. Which actually makes you look like the person wanting a treat… lol.
A non-argument, like a-kissing, don’t need a counter-argument, it needs a satire. A character slot is a treat? no, that should already paid for in the $50. No one asking for “free stuff”. It’s the tail-wagging for Anet is what make you look like someone wanting a chicken jerky treat so bad. Speaking of “funniest thing”, look in the mirror.
Regardless of whether you like those opinions or not, they are entitled to their speech. It is within your control to not dwell in it. Don’t like it? close the browser, or read another thread. Why do you feel to need to stare at those threads all days, days and night thinking about it and demands people to be punished? If Anet disagrees with any of the accusations and have a good reason of their own, they can simply ignore it and move on. Personally I don’t see anything harrassments or illegal here. What more, it’s a different forum outside of Anet’s jurisdiction, people can say w/e they want. And yes, you have the right to disagree too. But demanding Anet to do something about it? HAh! aint you a member of justice league.
I just wanted to take some time to say thank you for the all of the time and content that I have been able to enjoy in both Guild Wars 1 & Guild Wars 2.
I look forward to participating in the upcoming beta events for Heart of Thorns, as well as playing with those who work to gain enough personal XP to over come these illusions of perceived entitlement and pricing injustices, so that they can truly enjoy the game.
Going to agree. Thank you anet for the strides you have taken to making and even improving the guild wars franchise. I can’t wait for dinosaurs…even if they do trample over my corpse a few times.
did you get a bone treat yet?
At first I was excited to learn I woud get the core game for free, if I bought the HoT expansion. but then I realized Veteran players were treated so much better then new players.
Veterans are going to know where all the best farming spots are, where all the bag farm spawn locations are, I wont even be able to get a single hit in because they have commander tags and can summon minions to scale up events for them.
Veteran players will have so many more achievement points then I will, they will get so much more free rewards, they even get birthday gifts. I wont get the gifts they get for three years, and by then they will be getting even better gifts.
Wvteran players are already going to have 5 level 80 characters, they can do events with every day, they will have so much game-currency earning potential then I will as a new player. It will take me 3 years to get to the point the veteran players are at today, and by then they will be 6 year veterans!
Veteran players are going to obliterate me in pvp because they know the maps better, the meta builds and strategies, team compositions. In wvw they will have all the social connections to form the best riot squads, the best zergs.
Oh, how I wish this game was fair to new players, but as it stands new players dont have a chance to compete with veterans.
Veterans will look so much cooler then I will. I really like the Aetherized weapon skins, they are so steampunk awesome, but they were around during Scarlet’s invasion when they were offered for a single ticket, now the Aetherized staff skin costs more on the trading post then the Bifrost!!! Such injustice!! I want a free bifrost for being a new player! I want access to all the previously available skins at the same price these most fortunate veteran players had. I want those cool black feather wings that were only on sale for a single day in March. I want bunny ears.
All I want is for new players to be treated with a tiny bit of what anet has treated these veterans with, is that too much to ask?
the stuff that you list , you know , the stuff that we “got”. Those aint for free. We spent time and effort to get to know things, to farm, to grind. That’s not “entitlement”, that’s fruit of labor. Don’t come around my mansion and complain I got a mansion. Well, maybe because I worked my kitten out for 10 years for it. Stop complain and start playing , kid.
corps are not people.
I just wanted to take some time to say thank you for the all of the time and content that I have been able to enjoy in both Guild Wars 1 & Guild Wars 2.

Hey OP, or should I say “pet”, what is this vet entitlement are you talking about? I played this game since started, but never expected something that only vet people get but newbies don’t in the HOT. Paying the same amount of money but not even getting a new character slot is nothing about “entitlement”, it’s a clear cut stinginess from Anet’s side. Your tail wagging won’t pop out a precursor, just so you know.
So many posts saying us veterans didn’t get anything and new players are getting the core game for free really makes me think how many of you are actually veteran players.
Us veteran players have gotten to experience all the open world events since release with new patches every few weeks. These new players won’t get all that the same way we did even if they get a “bonus” free version with buying HoT.
They won’t hear while afk’ing at the bank in LA the asura and char that say “Your face is funny”, “No, your face is funny. It’s like a little raisin”
They didn’t experience the festival events and seasoned events like we did.
They won’t see LA getting destroyed and how we fought over it while scarlet attacked it.
They won’t get to fight marionette like we did cause that is all gone and done.
They probably won’t see SAB seeing as people still riot about it to this day.
They didn’t get to farm aetherblades in zones and have tons of champs spawning.
Those are just a few examples but so many other open world events that these new players will never experience even if they do get a “Bonus” free version of the core game.
Stop being greedy and thinking its all about new players when new players will have missed out on a ton of content that is no longer available. Veterans have the memories of all that has happened since launch of this game to this date while new players will never experience those events.
Wagging your tail to anet won’t drop you any precursors. And don’t make up fake argument. No one ever said “vet players don’t get anything”. So stop fighting a strawman. What about people who bought the game recently. They didn’t get any of what you mention, but they suffer the same fate as us who bought the same since it started. The frustration here is that vet players will pay the same price, but not even an extra character slot at least. Now supposed that you just bought the game 2 weeks ago for $40 . No , you are not yet a vet player at this point. Not after 2 weeks. But suddenly now someone else who just a few weeks after you will pay slight more, but get both old game and the HOT, whereas you who just paid 40 bucks not to long ago now will have to pay the very same scale of fee for the same access. Clearly there is pothole in the way Anet’s pricing and stinginess towards pre-HOT . We are trying get a message out so that at least we get something abit more for the price dictated at us, and you, Anet’s pet do-gooders, came out and defend them as if we are insulting your own parents. Does it hurt to think nowadays? No, precursors won’t rain on you for your lawyer service.
(edited by quaniesan.8497)
Across all characters, I have played for 1374 hours and 50 minutes over the past 1021 days. I paid $60 for the base game.
4 cents an hour. That how much of my money Anet has taken while I played their game.
You might think that is excessive, I some of you reading this have played more. Much, much more. After you have judged me, for a moment, lets say I only played for 1 hour on friday and saturday. Thats 21 cents per hour.
There is NOTHING I can do with 4 cents. I would need 50 times that just to enjoy a Soda. For the price of a soda, I: “Veteran Player” – could have enjoyed 20 hours of Guild Wars 2.
How my 4 cents an hour pays for this opportunity to escape each day to a persistant living online world is beyond the scope of my imagination, its just one of those things I am going to have to take for granted because trying to wrap my head around it hurts worse then trying to wrap my head around the idea that I, “Veteran Player” am somehow entitled to more then a new player, because 3 years ago I shelled out $50. I lose that much money a year in my couch. I find that much money a year on the ground. Last week I found a quarter stuck to the bottom of my shoe. Thats like 6 and a half hours of GW2 paid for.
Anet owes me NOTHING. in fact, laid out like this… yea, I pretty much owe Anet. if I have to pay $50 today to uninstall GW2 that would bring the cost of my entertainment up to 11 cents an hour. We can go back and do more Soda math, or you can get the point. In case you didnt:
If HoT adds absolutely nothing to the game, I will have gotten my money’s worth. So have you, “Veteran Player”.
What do we have here? Anet’s pet? We owe Anet? I’m sorry? owe what?
Yes, yes, the worth of the game is judged by $$ per hour, don’t you guys love pseudo logics? Just what is this “privilege” that are you ranting about?
I agree. I hate when he does that, looks like he is trying hard from constipation.
I’ve got to get this off my chest.
-How can some of you look people in the eye and claim Arenanet is not giving you a whole lot of content(HoT specifically) when you haven’t played or experienced everything(and I mean EVERYTHING) that is this expansion offers, hmm? Do any of you have access to some leaked version of the full expansion or w/e? Enough with assumptions and back seat game development. You don’t work for Anet.
-The base expansion is $50. Ok, cool. Historically, most MMO expansions have been about $40-60. So how is this a problem? It’s because people keep equating whatever “value” the game has with games that aren’t even in the same genre: ie every game that doesn’t require an internet connection. They just don’t say it(probably because they dot understand the meaning of their words). Those games(usually) don’t ask for this level of pricing because they don’t have to continue developing content for it. People can continue to play those games well after the publisher and devs have moved on to other projects. MMOs(and MOBAs) don’t get this luxury.
-Yet naive individuals here will procrastinate on the “value” of the prices. There is no “value”. That’s a subjective emotion you make up for yourself to justify your purchase. And there’s nothing wrong with that. However, it holds not one kitten ounce of meaning as far as the quality of the expansion goes. We have reviews/reviewers for that. The price of reason is steep.
/rant
At least we can still all agree that the real only valid argument here is that the standard edition does not come with a free character slot. As it should, at the minimum for people who bought the game very recently.
OP: shut up. No one complains whether the price is steep. It’s the fairness for vet players and new people, who both pay the same amount of money but have all access, including all character slots, yet vets couldn’t even get an extra slot. Enough with strawman, now scram!
