Mantras - what's ANets aim with them?

Hey there,

I just wanted to ask what the hag ANet wants to cause with our Mantras.

Are there any viable builds out there with at least using two or more Mantras? Is anybody using them?

While I really like the idea of this spells the reality looks quite depressive for me.

So, can anybody help me and clarify the “use” or “sense” of them?

They’re actually a troll utility that the devs use as a distraction to say that they are invested in Mesmers and do really care. That way they can shuffle a few traits each patch, lower some durations, and act like they’ve done a fairs day work on Mesmers; meanwhile ignoring all the important issues, balancing, and bug fixes that need addressing urgently. Then they all have a Beavis and Butthead`esque laugh, utter the words “purple”, and “cheese”, then dust their hands, get up from their chairs, and call it a day.

If they gave us a mantra that granted stealth, and another that allowed you a 900 range blink, THEN you’d know they were serious about mantras (of course the mechanics will never change so people will continue to leave them). Otherwise they’re not on the mesmer page/meta.

lol. yeah i gotta agree with u. when they buffed the mantras, i was kinda feeling like they didnt really think this one through very well. i mean we did ask for aoe and anet took some of the most underused utilities and added a tiny aoe range to it but 360 is a joke and will require u to go close to a zerg/ group which is hard in wvw for example.
also the way mantras work is not very useful in a duel for example. i mean having 1 or 2 on your toolbar is not bad i guess, but running a full mantra build is so stressful and also not ideal as mes does need something to get distance from the target.

i mean the nerfed the kitten out of glam and after that…nothing. no real new options for us. yes there is pu, but still its not what fixes the problems mesmers have. im honestly expecting the balance patch being something like this:

mantras: channeling time decreased by 0.25 seconds, cd increased by 5 seconds
fixed: a few minor bugs
nerfed clone death builds
mimic absorbs now 5 projectiles and echo will release projectiles and dmg foes around u,range 360, has now a 35 second cooldown

…….

I don’t know what happened to you 2 days ago, but I’ve see dead dolyak bodies “obstruct” phantasm skills so I’m pretty sure it doesn’t work through walls.

^ this. almost everything get obstructed since anet made a hardcore los change to phantasms. i cant even hit unbuilt oil with gs….

and butter goes good on toast. But neither of those things have anything to do with GW2.

Phantasm mesmer do a lot of damage in aoe too, you have nice utilities (veil, mass quickness), and is a good roamer, you can “summon” phantasms inside keeps to kill people( oh wait is a bug, dont fix it….).

not in wvw. u cant summon them inside keep at all! i play mes and this is a false statement. u can attck the gat, but i cant cast it on walls or on enemies behind the gate anymore. that one was nerfed ages ago. the iwarde ins the one that is broken and wont attack the gate and will wander off randomly. most of the phantasms willget obstructed in wvw …like non stop.

on a bridge=onstructed
enemy o unever errain=obstructed

u cant deal aoe dmg. u cast 1 phantasm and if u are lucky it hits and doesent insta die in aoe. all u do is either cast a few aa on gs, ther berserker(45% chance to get obstructed and full phantasm cd) then u use gs 2, gs3, gs5 and deal barely any dmg. u cast veil and then tw and then your job is done. u are not there to deal dmg.
u could pretend to be a ganker and go for the casters on a super class mes, but thats it. we got no real aoe. our aoe disappeared with the glamour nerf.

so before even telling me this “but u got utilities”…stuff. go play a veilbot for a week. its not fun and mes is terribad in raids as dmg dealer.

At least your class have a nice set of group utilities, i play ranger……..

The only phantasm that attacks behind the gate is iWarden because the ai is broken and constantly changes targets, which he mentioned.

I was attacked 2 days ago by a berserker phantasm inside keep……

omg u really dont get it. make a mes lvl2, equip gs and see for yourself! enjoy the obstructed obstructed obstructed, out of rangeout of range obstructed messages.
of course if u stand at the gate u will get hit by berserk. berserker only spawns inside keep to attack the inner gate from inside. if u are close to that gat of course it hurts. but i can not select u and cast that phantasm at u if u are on the wall or behind gate. seriously make a mes check it out and u will see the issue

It should be either 0.5 or 0.75 seconds. Also, the current meta has so much AoE that these utilities are not durable enough to be useful. They need to have their hp boosted, especially for the disenchanter.

So, you want to buff Mesmer phantasms hp to be able to use them in WvW?? but if you buff hp in WvW his hp will be OP in 1vs1 fights or roaming,

Btw dunno if you talk about WvW, 1vs1 or Spvp.

well thing is idefender and disenchanter are defensive phantasms. we are not talking about berserker and co. they wouldnt be op like this. ai is our problem in wvw. there is only ai builds left. everything else is up in wvw. i would rather have allthat useless stuff replaced with real aoe and less dueling stuff. we are a light armor class after all and should have non aie aoe stuff.
even with buffed hp to dissenchanter and idefender, they will still melt in seconds in a raid…

Elite: Mantra of Domination

I would love to see the return of Panic or Blackout as an elite in this game. They aren’t mantras specifically, but I think it would be a really cool tool to give Mesmers more of the gw1 lockdown play style. Something like:

Panic
“Target foe and nearby foes become panicked. When a panicked foe uses a skill, all nearby foes are interrupted.”

Duration: 6s
Recast: 180s
Range: 1200
Radius: 360

Blackout
“Mesmer and target foe’s skills are disabled.”

Unblockable
Duration: 5s
Recast: 120s
Range: 130

…of course with durations and recasts balanced depending on how strong these are in gw2 combat as compared to gw1.

omg, yes! this is exactly stuff the mesmer in gw2 is lacking. that would help a lot in wvw.
@ op: a mantra…. sry but i really tried mantras for a while and it simply doesnt fit in well with all the cc, thief spamms, and the fast paste the combat is moving. the recharging is hard if u cant dodge or anything.

Permanent stealth condition thief

well what i do is. i stay calm when i see him the first time or after ive been attacked i use a stunbreaker like decoy or blink away. most of the time i blink and then go decoy. after that he will stealth again. probably goes for another backstab. if he comes out of stealth ill try to cast a phantasm on him. if u run pistol, then such a thief will have a hard time as every time he comes out of stealth the pistol phantasm will attack him.

what helps if u are being attacked:
blurred frenzy right away:deals massive dmg if thief is on u
scepter 2: diels lots of tormenting dmg . i use it when i see him go in stealth
pistol: cast phantasm when he comes out of stealth to attack u and wil continue to attack him every ime he comes out of stealth. if u manage to put a magic bullet on him after phantasm then u will nearly kill him as he is dazed and phantasm will hit him hard
blink: blink out the moment u get attacked
torch: counter stealth and then the blast hits him hard, plus if u got pu or traited torch, helps u a lot
gs: gs5 if he shadowrefuges, berserker hit him hard
mh sword: ileap if u can would work great if it wasnt that bugged
stealth: counter stealth after he stealthed. if u dont have pu then wait 3 sec other wise 2
clone on dodge while in stealth helps to have thief attack clone instead of u

act like your clone when coming out of thealth

i think they are having a hard time with this one and might just need to rework the skill. i really hope this gets somehow fixed as it is annoying how the ileap fails all the time same with iwarden and co, but this one bug has been in game for ever and needs attention.

erm, yeah in roaming eles are barely seen since all the nerfs hit 1v1 eles. but in wvw eles are part of the meta in raids. although war and guard trains could almost run wvw all by themselves….staff ele is the most viable light armor in wvw raids due to 6k meteorshowers(no red circles, make it hard to doge that aoe), cleansing water, cc and high aoe dmg.

Allie said that Meteor Shower is supposed to show a red circle and that it’s a bug that will be fixed in the next patch. Just one more of those bugs that remain from the game’s release, that’s all. I am fine with fixing the bug but I wonder how much it will affect ele viability in WvW raids.

well as of now not having the red circle was an issue as during massive battles u wont be able to see the actual hits, so if 3 glass eles pop the showers all at the same time your life melts away and u dont even know why. but i think ele will still be fine after that. u guys are part of the meta because of waters, cc and also high aoe dmg. the more aoe u have the better u will do in raids

Pistol whip before the unintentional nerf to stuns could be considered over powered, as you could get all of the hits off unless your opponent had multiple stun breakers/stability.

But no it’s just pretty annoying now. The ability to spam any skill is annoying but thiefs can do it. And anyways thiefs are getting pretty close to Ranger status in terms of being non-viable in every aspect. So until different aspects of Thief are buffed I wouldn’t advise any more nerfs.

i actually do somewhat agree with u. thief does need buffs in other aspects. atm the spam chains are the main part of thieves, get in there, stun target, spamm 111,222,111 get out, rinse repeat until target runs out of health, blocks and stun breakers. cc does need some sort of cooldown, so a target that just got pulled, cannot be chain interrupted, chain stunned, perma immobilized or chain knocked down. i somethimes get pulled into a zerg in wvw and my skills are on perma cd due to interrupts and stuns.
its not a thief issue only its a cc issue. thieves can be countered, but if u are unlucky and get focused by 2 pistolwhip thieves, its gg.
sure certain things need a tone down, but u cant do that without buffing other skills/traits. otherwise u will really have another ranger disaster.

yeah i was getting tired of veilbotting, so i decided to make a power necro and omg its soo much fun! love the class. i feel useful in wvw raids and happy i have aoe now. i do think necro does need a few buffs in defense and maybe a few ways to get away from combat(like a leap or something) and a few bug fixes are needed, but at least im having a blast.

I would like to see Mesmer Confusion buffed (un-nerfed!) to make it more viable. Mesmer’s were (supposed to be) the confusion class before the confusion nerf.

TBH, I’m glad mesmer is more than just “the confusion class”, but I too would like to see confusion-focused builds become viable again. (Broken) Perplexity runes is just a sad reminder how bad this condition is when compared to bleed, a condition that most classes can build to spam endlessly. Confusion is tricky to apply and manage effectively, and the reward you get is half the DPS of a bleed spammer.

well, yeah confusion was a core mechanic of mesmers and glamour build was the only non ai heavy build out there. that’s why we used them in wvw raids and were viable. the nerf has made us a veilbot 1v1 class. of course change happens and i was always hoping that there would something new come along…but it hasnt yet. it be great if we had a few non ai/ non illusion based builds again…i have moved on from confusion and glamour builds but i do miss being viable in wvw raids.

actually anet did respond recently somewhere in the wvw section. the easiest thing for anet to do would have been reverting it until they found a solution….at least focus would not be so unreliable and useless…..

65. cc is amazing. i love being pulled in the middle of a group and then have my skills on perma cooldown while standing there doing nothing. i always feel great after being stunlocked to death.

66. i love all the mesmer bugs, they made me great player as i have learned how to react when 4 out of 5 things bugged out.

67.veilbotting is a great way to play. u pot veil/portal/tw down and then u can afk while war/guard/ele(wvw) kill eachother. i even get to take some screenshots meanwhile and cheer from the side.

6k is nothing. with 2.5 k armor i used to get hit for like 11k backstabs and 8k heartseekers in wvw. but yeah still such spammable attacks shouldnt deal such a high dmg i agree.

during reste u will experience ques mainly in our home bl and eb. but the queues are pretty short.
our sea and eu crew is a fun one. i play usually between 3am-8am server time and also during oceanics and we have no queues during that time, but lots of small havoc and bigger zergbusting groups and also ppt guilds running around. so a small group would def fit in during this time. during eu we got a few good commanders aswell.
i like this time slot a lot as i get to go zergbusting :-).

excellent, i also got all the answers i needed with what little question i had.

well u didnt really ask a question. u wanted lifeblast to be nerfed, because u think you should not have died. u made a build asked in the mes forum, mes people told it was bad, but u come with the attitude that your build is not supposed to die.
of course people are attacking you for this nonsense. i play power necro although i main a mesmer and i die to power necros sometimes too, but never have i thought of lifeblast as op ever.
they are slow, have long aftercast and easy to dodge and your build is supposed to die to everything as u dont have anything to get distance from necro, no leaps, no stealth nothing specific. we all told u that a mantra build especially the way u made it is not viable. pyro tested it, i tested it too and a lot of mesmers tried to make mantrabuilds viable, but its not.
necro is fine and actually i think necro do need buffs in certain areas. and lifeblast is not a regular autoattack.

hmmi like using arcane thievery in spvp, but it fails often.its not so reliable, but can beuseful if u use it properly. i agree though that it could use a little buff though as itfails too often and is easy to dodge.

How do you survive elementalists fresh air burst builds if you can’t survive a necro auto attacking? They can do 15k ish damage in 2 seconds. I’m just wondering cause everything else your saying is just so bias no one should even respond to it.

Actually a perfect burst combo kills a heavy golem with 22k hp and 2,597 armor in 2 seconds with 98% of damage during 1 second.

yeah dat fire grab hit me in wvw really hard…i think i got hit by 10k or so…and i have 2.7k armor on my mes…..XD big ouch

57. if towerlord in lake tower(probably others too) gets bannered multiple times the circle stays up even after cap sometimes and enemy can simply run in and cap the tower without the lord being dead or while lord is still buffed if he runs out of the circle.

big lol from me.
here the issues with it:

u got only 2.4k armor= ull get hit hard
why do u use crippling clone death trait why u wanna move faster for active illusions?u dont even produce that many illusions as u dont have de nor condition dmg. those 2 trait choices dont make sense
u have power, but u use sword= u gotta get close to target, but u dont have leaps to get away from it.
u use scepter which is good for condi specs and block, but bad for power builds
u got 2 good phantasms that deal great dmg, but again u dont really spec for them or your weapons u use.
your main issue is that u spec for heals and condi removal, but not for toughness nor evades like blink. u dont need stability vs power necro u dont need to remove that many condis vs power necro.
power necro will crush u with a mantra build.

your trait choices are a bit random and maybe u wanna change your weapons. if u use mh sword u will need something to gain distance again so u can evade those lifeblasts. this build will actually die to many other classes and my power pu mes would crush u.

u already remove condis with heal, so u dont necessarily need the mantra, but if u wanna keep the mantra, then replace the trait for with something that helps u vs power specs. sry but i dobt that u can win vs thieves with this build also engi will crush u.
u no leaps, bad toughness, some useless traits, no stealth(good luck recharging the mantras without any of that). a full mantra build does not well in the current meta. in wvw: a backstab thief would crit u for 11-13k, a warrior would lock and burst u down and an ele will look at u funny and u will be downed before u even know what hit u. in spvp, sry but even an ele in its current state could kill u without even breaking a sweat.

the problem is not the necro lifblast, its your build. test out other mantra based builds if u wanna stick with mantras, but your build is way too random the way it is now and with those weapons….

btw OP just made this build and asked for advice in the mesmer forum, so the whole “my build is not supposed to die vs necro” doesnt really make sense at all

yeah mantras is not what we need. we need non ai builds. give mes non ai aoe and a way to trait for non ai dmg. illusions and shatters are nice and everything, but it shouldnt be the only way to deal dmg.mantras are simply not working well in this game. having to recharge a skill over and over is stressful and not really optimal in a situtation where thieves gank u und there is aoe and condis everywhere. plus the cc spam and interrupt spams are making it nearly impossible to use mantras effecitvely. so change or remove and replace them.

all i want is a few options to spec into aoe dmg that is not ai based. dmg that doesnt involve ai. shatters are nice if u take ip, because illusions die often before they even reach a target in a zergfight. the phantasms get that 1 attackchain and then they die. so my main dmg vs a zerg is pretty much every 20 sec a berserker( cause thats the only one that isnt bugged atm and does hit multiple targets).
then shatter builds are great but u still need to get into a more dangerous range and it will still lack dmg due to clones and phantasms dying in aoe.
since glamour got nerfed to the ground, i tried almost every single build out there, but im just not feeling it anymore.

I must admit i don’t have much WvW experience, but from what i’m getting from a PvE point a view regarding zerg fights… they are the WORST.
I really don’t know why this game is encouraging these kind of fights so much. Their own classes really don’t seem to be designed for it! Certainly not all of them.

Some Mesmers on this forum however posted great WvW videos and really almost all of them were small group roaming. Maybe that’s where it’s at? Maybe only join the zergs for flipping keeps etc. and then split up again? But ss i said – i don’t have much experience.

I heard a couple of times that Mesmers get used in zergs for a couple of their utilities (Portal, Veil and Mass Invisibility etc.) but isn’t that great?
We bring something very unique to the table that can be used to your great tactical advantage!
But generally i do get what you’re saying. The only thing i can think of to avoid this problem, is to avoid a zerk.
And if it makes you feel any better, we’re not the only ones suffering heavily from them.

well this is what im facing every day. we are around 18-20 players vs 30-50. i like zergbusting, but on my mes im the veil and tw only. my berserker hits a few but im not really able to deal lots of dmg like an ele at all.

this is what we face everyday: ermmm try to keep illusions up in there…

I really have to disagree.
I play Mesmer myself, ONLY Mesmer. The reason why i do that is because there are so so so many builds out there for this class that are interesting, viable and fun!
There are Shatter builds, Interrupt builds, Condition builds and ofc PU builds and they’re all viable for PvP and WvW.
I’m currently running a non-PU condition build focused on confusion in tournaments.
I also believe a strong build is only half the win. It needs someone to press the right buttons at the right time behind the Mesmer too. . Personally it took me the longest to figure out how to play the builds that focus on interrupts. It takes patience but once you get a “feel” for timing and the timing of skills from others, it’s very rewarding.
Mostly however i do play Shatter builds tho, just like you. They’re very strong builds,
BUT not only you get better at the game, your opponents do too.
You can counter it, if you know how and you can counter PU just as much.

Last but not least i really think the game designers don’t rub their hands in anticipation for the next Mesmer nerf. And after they pushed a nerf through, i don’t imagine them laughing hysterically and plotting the next thing against us.
They try to balance the game… and a big game it is.

in spvp however i agree with u. i love testing out new builds….even tried a signet build(which was mayyybe a terrible thing to test out). i like lockdown builds, i played pu power, shatter, phantasm, triforce, blackwater, antiwarrior build, reflect builds, zergmower, i test out all the runes and yes in a duel i think lots of our traits can be useful. but most of them depend on illusions being either active, being shattered or attacking. in a wvw zergfight all those traits go byebye as u barely can keep them up.

The amount the attack hits for is irrelevent. What matters is the attacks DPS. the Necro community is claiming Life Blast has a 1.5 second total attack time. You’re alledging 3k a shot. That’s only 2k DPS.

Warrior Axe – Chop (Combo) – 2,079.056 DPS
Thief Dagger – Strike (Combo) – 2,469.400 DPS

Considering neither of these classes need to be in deathshroud or get life force before attacking, I’d say the damage is pretty reasonable. Especially when these are auto attack figures and not real burst skills.

Life Blast is ranged and a lot easier to hit then thief and warrior auto attack, not that the OP has a real argument in all of this.

yeah and dat blast is like so superfast, its like light speed….. seriously lifeblast is soo easy to dodge and avoid.

hmm maybe we should make a list about things that do work correctly…that list would be shorter than the bug list.

btw cant hit barely anything on walls with gs. unbuilt oil no matter where i stand ill get bstructed, cannon cant be hit hit from 85% of all angles… players on wall nearly unhitable. all i get is obstructed obstructed obstructed.
i get similar issue when im on the wall myself and try to hit other targets that are on the same wall. they could be infront of me and ill still get obstructed a lot. but absolute worst is when u are on the wall and trying to hit people on the stairs. obstructed obstructed …… ugh

lol, peeps, you can pile a whole necro convention here, but there is no other 3k auto in this game, not by a mile (and ranged in bonus). any other skill on the same ds, some with lesser damage, have 10-20 sec cd. its skill-less spam and way out of size for damage/effort. just copy the build and spam away #1111111111111.

erm 3k aa hmmm that seems familiar…. thief cough and just fyi necro has to be in deathshroud and spec for it and it is very very very slow. and if u are glass yourself sry but then such an attack will hit u hard. if i was pure glass id get 1shot by glass thief and those aa would all be around 3k. and yes a necro could kill me with lifeblast if i was not fast enough.

Fun fact: GW1 mantras were stances. Honestly couldn’t remember that until I checked the PvX wiki out of nostalgia. I miss hexes, and stances, and proper signets. And chain-interrupting monks.

Full mantras absolutely isn’t viable. No blink, no access to stealth, you’re just a sitting duck for thieves basically.

In general though, mantras just are too clunky to make effective builds based around them. You’ll try them for a while, but ultimately you’re going to end up realizing that you’re putting in more work for less results than almost anything else. It sucks, but until the devs rework mantras that’s the way it is.

yeah the way mantras work is not really the way i like to play, plus i feel like it doesnt really fit in with the way anything else works in gw2. it just feels awkward to me. i dont mind using 1 once in a while, but more than that is just stressing me out. its a constant oh gee i need to recharge my mantra and then u are in a large fight and boom u are out of charges…..now gotta spend quiet some time to try to recharge them while trying to avoid all the cc spam and aoes and thieves……

Should Thieves and Warriors get nerfed without being careful, Mesmer will become a cancer class again. Would be great if Mesmers had higher risk in attacking because before things such as zerker stance even came into existence, EVERYONE knew that Mesmer was the most tanky class without investing in toughness or soldier amulet.

But w/e, people who think being able to have Zerk Stance, Balanced Stance, Endure Pain while attacking is fair ruined this game anyways. Don’t even get me started on Mesmer Phase Retreat, people who think that’s a balanced skill most likely fail on games that don’t have “nine-lives mechanics.”

Cancer class will remain cancer. Instead of buffs a re-work would be better. Or keep them nerfed to the ground DPS-wise.

We slapped a few dolyaks, picked off reinforcements, and took a supply camp. The commander was attacking garrison, we asked in map if they wanted us to join up with them. This time one of the members of the group that was on TS asked there as well. Still no answer. We go ahead and take a 2nd supply camp after they capture garrison and this exchange takes place.
Map: Hey are you guys that took Stargrove a guild group?
Us: No
Map: Are you in TS?
Us: 2 of us are
Map: Could you guys leave this bl so [blank] can get in?
Us: Why?
Map: You’re not following the commander’s orders and we’re trying to win here.

We asked for orders and didn’t get any. So on our own we stopped supply and reinforcements from getting to garrison during the attack and took 1 fully upgraded supply camp. And we weren’t trying to win? My logic circuits fried at that point, so I said goodbye to my group and logged out (for quite some time actually).

Again this is just one incident, and it may have been very isolated. But that’s what I mean when things seemed to get ‘weird’ for me.

Best of luck to all the guilds that have migrated away and I hope you have a blast wherever you land. Because isn’t the point of playing GW2 to have fun?

hmm yeah that is indeed not fun at all. in fa , we are happy that we have havoc and roaming groups and we are happy if someone takes care of stuff. it is important to work together and yes there are the commanders that will try to rally everyone, but they dont yell at people for not following.
on our server we have quiet a lot of smaller guild groups that will try to havoc or zergbust. the zergbusters are more there for the fights and run around tagless so people dont follow and rallybot, while the actual commanders will try to improve ppt and cap stuff. then there is a bunch of roamers and camp capping groups around plus e few scouts that refresh siege and upgrade and escort dolys.
so yeah, there is room for everyone. if u wanna zerg u can join commander, u wanna zergbust u apply for the guild and run with them, if u wanna roam u can and if u wanna scout or havoc u can do so too. if someone tells u that u have to do something only because u are on that server, of course its not fun.
its still a shame that your server is now stuck in matchups which u dont have the coverage for and i saw some spawncamping going on from the other server while u only had 1 tower in eb….well my zergbusting guild took care of them for u ;-)

Entangle hits up to 5 targets and deals damage and immobilizes the target.
How in the seven layers of hell can you even remotly compare it to moa morph, which does not hurt you and give you skills to do damage or escape faster?

very true. seems like a few people got hit by this troll skill and got mad. i got moaed in the middle of a zerg and survived by escaping. entangle howewer killed me quiet a few times.

You can use condi clears or any immobilize breaker (i.e. rocket boots, warrior traited with mobile strikes) to escape entangle. In addition, you can also use a teleport to escape the roots, and stealth will also prevent the roots from hitting you and allow you to escape. In the worst case, you may even be able to burst down the roots and get out (this is easier to do in the middle of a zerg with AoE exploding everywhere).

If you get hit with moa you are stuck as a moa for the full duration and cannot do anything to remove the transformation state. If you’re not able to properly escape your enemy, it could mean your death because you cannot heal and have a limited ability to defend yourself. In the worst case, it means that you’re essentially useless in the fight for 10 seconds, meaning they may be able to focus down your allies while you’re in moa form and come for you later.

Entangle also has a much shorter range, although that’s a minor factor.

In general, I would agree that entangle is the stronger of the two, or at least applicable in more situations (especially since the ranger can lower the cooldown via traiting). But polymorph moa definitely has some advantages over it.

im a mesmer and my main alt is a necro. ive been moad a few times and was able to escape easily. when i get killed its mainly cc. perma immobilize, peram knockdowns, perma interrupts, i got sun breakers but i dont have great condi removal, nor do i have stability, so moa is like the least of my probems in any game mode.
and if anet removes it or nerfes it to the ground, i dont care as i never use it!

AI builds should never reach a high status of viability (and reward) and work only in lower or medium brackets of play. And that goes for Spirit Weapons too.

Agreed. I want to see all AI builds nerfed. It just promotes a skill less play. I think there needs to be one of two changes.

1. Double the cooldown of any AI
2. Nerf the damage to almost zero so that they are distractions, but not the main focus.

well, if you are talking about phantasms, then u must be aware of the fact that phantasms are the main dmg dealers for mesmers and that our weapons dont deal as much direct damg because of that. i wouldnt mind an ai change at all on my mesmer. ai is pretty much all the mesmer is about: most of our traits are about shattering illusions, phantasms and illusions.
so yeah if this gets nerfed like u suggested, then mes need a redesign. more weapon streangth, faster aa, more aoe, new aoe that is non ai based, new traits, new skills.
and to be honest i would welcome this change.
