only because u got matched up with servers that are way more populated than u, doesent mean they deserve punishment. yes there are servers that stacked.
yes there are servers that bought guilds(they have been suffering the consequences with terrible queues), but there are also servers that didnt stack, that actually lost guilds and then a few guilds joined them(like fa that had one of their biggest guild taken by jq and 2 other guilds left because they gave up on the server), also there are servers that didnt make it to gold or silver league and then ended up below where they dominate most of the other servers.
just because u feel the urge to get revenge for a bad, broken matchup, doesent justify enough to punish the winning servers with a terrible matchup.the matchups are broken and that is not the other servers fault its the systems fault.
Might be a silly idea, but just for fun I would like to see a matchup between the Gold/Silver/Bronze league winners for the ultimate WvW championship after the season ends.
Might be a predictable result, but never know until you do it.

bg has like twice fa’s coverage and fa has like 3 times hod’s coverage….so that matchup would be pointless.
i wouldnt challenge u guys to go roaming and record it. i’d rather see u guys fighting in t3 and up on either mesmers or rangers in zergs or zergbusting groups. maybe u guys would understand then how boring and frustrating veilbot and how terrible the pets/clones/phantasms are in wvw.
on another note, we had a fun anet guy on our server that joined when we faced jq and had nothing but 1 camp, then we decided to build 40 omega golems and the anet guy joined us! :-)
yeah carrion is pretty bad for mesmers. i started off with that one, but when i switched to a confusion build, i went to rabid and never looked back. recently i’ve also tried out dire, which is not bad if u are veilbot for a zergbusting guild, but i prefer rabid.
oh sweet ill be pyros bodyguard then as we are on the same server…and i cant really stomp him unless i see him in spvp.
they should be kept out of wvw or yes like mentioned before, be available to buy. not sure if im gonna use those, but for certain classes they could be very strong. als anet has to start balancing the classes before releasing new runes/sigils. seriously, im a wvw player, i have maybe done 3 fractals so far. it would take months of boredom, to get those

Aren’t you guys confused when you see a MM, Spirits, Spirit Weapons, Turrets and Clones ? When I see a MM necro and Spirit ranger coming I get super confused, now get mesmers in the mix. I’m not even talking with an engineer spamming grenades included.

im not confused when i see mm and mesmer clones as i know exactly which one the mesmer is. even if they act like clones i know they are not as the real mesmer is the only one that uses other skills than autoattacks and also is able to dodge. also other ai doesent confuse me.
but honestly i would gladly give up some of my ai and get some more viable aoe for wvw though.
i dont even know how to answer to a thread that is so full of things that are plain wrong. i think u really dont understand what the mesmer is about nor have u studied our traits or anything about it.

i still like some guildwars 1 skills the mesmer had.
1. improving keeps and upgrades so a keep cant be taken in 1minute(walls need to be safer, gates need more hp, masteries are too strong, keep layout is too simple, etc)
2. class balance in wvw (spvp balance makes wvw unbalanced, 4 classes are dominating, 4 are either left out or utilitybots which is taking away the fun)
3. fix exploits, los issues( rezzing through walls, dragontooth, necros hitting u though walls,etc)
well the problem with transfers during leagues is, that u already know who u are facing and therefor place spies. so lets say u know next week u will be facing for example sor with your server( the server u started with and will get the rewards for).u can transfer a few players over to sor and sabotage the server to help your server with sabotaging and spying. then afterwards u transfer back. so there is a lot of griefing happening in leagues. anet should have locked the transfers for the leagues.
griefing and spying has been a problem. the people that transfer to a winning server arent gonna get much out of it as they will get the rewards for the server they started on.so no problem there.
well im surprised op didnt mention ele, because eles are very important in a zergfight due to the water fields and lightning fields. the top classes are warrior/guardian, ele and necro, that is correct. the only reason people want a mesmer in their zerg is because of veil and tw.
mesmers aoe is terrible and it is quite frustrating to be a utilitybot only. now im sure engis are pretty good in zergfights if played well, but they dont have a clear role in a zerg.
if there are thieves in a zerg they will be ganking the backline, but thats it. rangers have the same issue as mesmers as their class is based on ai and ai dies in seconds in a zerg.
thats where anet failed so far with class balance. rangers,thieves and mesmers are great in 1v1 and spvp, but lack in a wvw zerg. spvp will prevent those classes from getting the necessary buffs.
imo it would help a lot if aanet would split spvp and wvw balance again.
yeah its not cheating. its part of the game and our core class mechanic. not every mesmer uses the clone on dodge, but clones are always gonna be there. u cant just turn it off and fight like a man. how about u make a mesmer and check out how our class works and believe me u will be able to deal with us much better.
Dear santa. i would like a main hand pistol and more aoe/ zerg abilities for the mesmer. im fine with being slow and all, but i would like to move away from the veil/tw bot role in wvw which is very very very very very boring!
most of the strong guilds i’ve faced run mainly warriors and guardians, then 3-5 eles, around 3 necros, 1-2 mesmers for veil and tw and 0 rangers. engi and thieves can be very helpful, but are not really as important. if mesmers had no veil the would be right down there with the rangers.
so wvw basically only needs 4 classes(warrior,guardian, ele, necro). the other ones have 1 or 2 useful utilities, but are not really needed.
the problem is class balance in wvw as the classes that are good in 1v1 like rangers, thieves and mesmers are lacking aoe. as a mesmer i feel annoyed with the stupid role of utilitybot.
no, there is permastealth thieves there and such a thing would be very overpowered. i think it is fine as it is and should not be changed.
i main a mesmer and i think stuff like rezzing people through walls is a stupid mechanic and very broken. on the other hand if there is someone else hiding with me in the keep that can come and rez me then i think it is fine.
but i see your point as some people are corpse spying and that one is pretty annoying.
i think anet should make it impossible to rez without los and also when someone dies turn the screen black so all u can see is your character and nothing else, but they still can be rezed if someone else is hiding in the keep with them.
i use it with glamour hybrid build and tormenting sigils in wvw and its pretty effective like that. i see torment popping everywhere now.works great with triforce too

If a thief is built to deal that much damage, a sneeze will kill him. A slight breeze.
lol 7k is pretty low. if u are a light armor then u will see stuff like 13k happening even with full pvt or rabid gear. the problem is that thieves can go ful berserk gear without any risks due to stealth. and stealth is a problem for classes that require a target.
as a mesmer i have little access to aoe and staff and scepter and all phantasms require a target so sometime its pretty frustrating. i dont mind the thieves mobility, but stealth just gives too much of an advantage in gw 2. in every other game u have a way to counter stealth or there was at least a 7 sec cooldown on it.
i wouldnt mind the pve if the peve doesent affect the dolyaks. its already hard enough to upgrade with all the thoeves arround in wvw so yeah the pve mobs should not affect the dolys
i usually avoid going to la for reset because of griefers. i usually go to hom and go from there

as a mesmer i agree with u. the knockdowns are very very frustrating.thats the one thing that gets me already mad in wvw and in pve its even worse as the mobs just spamm knockdowns. there should be something that grants u invulnerability to cc after being knocked down.

I love how all of these players are calling a guild out that has absolutely roflstomped the IoJ server all week. Maybe when IoJ finally drops out of Silver at the end of this season you guys won’t be so bitter, sad and pathetic. Who knows maybe then you guys might PvF less and actually PvP. I doubt it, but hoping one day the IoJ server as a whole isn’t a server full of baddies
CORE doesn’t have strength in their build attributes but in their numbers.
And the same goes for FA.IoJ wouldn’t QQ as much if FA didn’t /laugh /sit on every IoJ opponent and then come to forums to boast about superior “skill”. You have no skill. You have numbers.
And I will reference this post as well when it comes back to second league and FA is QQing because they don’t even have their keep most of the week. We all know how it works on the bottom of Gold, Silver, and Bronze league. X server has a mass exodus from (1) the guilds that server hoped for an easy win (which includes CORE), and (2) guilds that don’t want to be ROFL stomped by JQ and BG.
looks like u got a lot of anger there. i understand that the laughing and sitting is annoying and i personally dont support that stuff. but putting every fa in the same boat is not ok at all. u forget that fa is used to be outmanned as we fight vs a lot of zergier servers. sbi has a massive population, but if u have ever faced jq before u would know that sbi is tiny compared to their zergs.
we got guilds that can wipe zergs twice (or even more) their numbers easily.
believe me, if u had the numbers, u would get a big wake up call as fa atm is not even trying that hard. when we are facing massive servers, we defend better, dont use alts, and our keeps and towers are sieged up to the tooth with scouts at all time.
whe we are outmanned we use complete different push tactics as atm u are facing our karmatrains and not our power house.
and u would face a lot of other players that are taking a vacation right now.

3 superior arrow carts are enough to kill 10 golems before they breach trough the gate.They do arround 7500 damage per second and even organized guilds have trouble surviving that kind of damage..Please learn your facts better before posting such nonsense.
You are funny. You know that there is something call armor in this game? Superior Ac don’t do 7500/sec. Not even half of that most of the time.
Also , please note that there is a reason why 40 man zerg stack at gate.
So that you can’t hit their ram. It also prevent the same person from getting ACed by three AC at the same time.AC can hit 50 targets. 40 men + 3 rams < 50 target limit
well ac’s are good, but if there is a 5 man blob, the ac’s are not helping at all as eles,engis and necros aoe make it nearly impossible to be on an ac. eles can hit everything on a wall and if they are a glass cannon build, 1 meteorshower and u are dead and so is your ac.walls have to be made safer!
agree with u. defending is an absolute joke with all the masteries going on. anet has to either completely redo the keeps and make them stronger or grant new upgrade levels. something that is fortified should last longer than 1min. most of the time u dont even have the chance to get to the keep eventhough u spotted the enemy right away.
i could see this working in wvw zerg fights without being op, but in spvp and 1v1 it would be too much. i think though that something has to change. id rather have less ai and more strength and skills that dont require a target or ai.
the only reason the wvw mesmer is struggling is because of clones and phantasms that die too quick.
glamour was great as it wasnt relying on ai.

WvW isn’t even PvP and I don’t understand how you people can actually think it is…. You are hitting doors or walls over 90% of the time. It is a giant mob attacking a keep while another giant mob tries to keep the keep. It is a joke.
It doesn’t take much skill to roll a group of 20 when you have 50+.
erm it is pvp. player vs player. yes in spvp u have less people and different builds, butonly because u think that wvw players are bad pvpers doesent mean its not pvp.and btw u will meet epic players with lots of skill there too not just mindless zerglings.

looks like u ran into tfv and nnk. as an fa member that faced them multiple times there is a few things. siege up your important keeps with superriors everywhere, including trebs on gates. when nnk hits, DO NOT stand on walls!they have heavy aoe and hit like a truck, also they will build acs that can hit everywhere and that dragontooth will take down even carefully placed siege. u need scouts and a lot ofmanpower when they attack. catas and trebs in garri placed on second level are good to counter the zerglings.
use reflects on gate as they have lota projectiles and omegas.
in garrison:
nnk loves either watergate or sw gate and if they fail to take it u will see tfv coming in through one of the other gates. nnk usually will test wg first, then check out se, but most likely will move to sw gate.
in blue keep:
place siege in the middle of inner lordsroom including catas and trebs
supperior ac on vista is epic as eles cant reach it if placed carefully
they usually come through main gate.
if nnk fails,tfv will try south gate
also have trbs ready to hit outer walls as nnk loves to build mass ac’s on walls and also catas.
little hint, get a few people with cata mastery5 on a cata build close to the innergate and have them use the bubbles that can block treb and catashots. again reflects work great on nnk, tfv is more melee so watch out for that cc.
have scouts trying to find out where nnk and tfv zergs are.
if they come to your bl:
normally u will ge outmanned right away, then they will either hit vale or bluewater(whichever is closer to their spawn)
in bay they will get through outer very quick(south gate) then either go straight to inner south or build a ton of catas and at leas 2 trebs to take out siege and walls.
hint: hide sup ac’s at places they dont expect, have catamastery 5 and 4 people using a cata to block the threbshots. 1 sup ac at supply depot inner if u dont have people then nnk will take bay quickly though as it is hard to defend and they will build ac very close to the inner gate and that ac will hit your lordsroom
hills:
2 trebs inner(1 for each gate), sup ac on supply depot roof
2 trebs southgate on stairs(have people with supplydraining cows on it( 3 suply traps placed on different locations
watch out with siege on the little cliff on the right side southgate as they will come up switchback and build sup ac right below where u usually have a treb that hits lake tower and that ac will take down all that siege u have placed on the other side of the wall.
again use reflects on gate and keep those trebs firing….
important is though: nothing on walls will help vs nnk nor tfv, u need a strong organized guild in order to take them down or keep is lost…and yes they will come back for u.
btw nnk will attack the bl with the least upgrades first.

yeah underwater i do feel quiet strong actually
i think in spvp the thieves are way easier to defeat as they are in wvw where permastealth is an issue.
there u got ascended gear, food, guardleech and applied fortitude where u will get hit with 14k backstabs out of the blue. i dont think the backstab itself is the main issue, its the attack out of stealth itself as u werent able to counter it at all because u didnt know the thief was even there.
i think if stealth was a little less, the 9k(14k) backstab would be ok as u had the chance to react. same with killshot. u got plenty of time to react there due to a long animation. if u know the thief is there, u can dodge or block the initial burst.
To be a little snarky, FA complaining about 6 weeks is proof that they weren’t up for Gold League. There was no concious decision to tank, but they chose to not be in Gold via low turn out and poor showing against a servers they enjoyed significant coverage advantages against.

I don’t think having your guilds bought by T1 servers constitutes as tanking. Also, Maguuma’s NA did massive overtime to make sure they got gold.
im not complaining. its sorta what happened when facing jq after jq got stacked like crazy. then jq bought one of our core na guilds and fa’s fairweathers went in hiding which demoralized many of us. mag was really pushing hard to get into gold league and hit us when we were pretty much demoralized and then we got some new guilds and with the influx of pve players fa regained its morale and everyone came out to play again.
a lot of us would have loved the gold league but personally i didnt feel we were ready for it at all. we still have our weakest time slot when other t1/t2 servers have a good -excellent coverage, so yeah we would have been trashed in gold league, but we still would have put up a fight.
we arent afraid of t1, its just very intense and tiring as we put in overtime to cover our weak timeslot.
stop attacking other servers with stuff u assume befor u know the real story. also a lot of players didnt log in after being crushed by t1 servers for 6 weeks straight. we did not tank. most of the people wanted to stay in gold!Just an FYI, FA didn’t tank or lose to be in Silver on purpose. as a wvw player i gotta say it sucks that we are stuck with the rabid finisher as we cannot obtain any finishers through wvw. and a lot of us have over 50k kills, so getting a finisher for a 7 week long tournament where u have to fight pretty much 24/7 if u wanna win then i think its fair we are getting it!
Ranger is not useless in wvw. When traited with 1500 on lb and placed inside garrison he can refresh siege, and perform very well on guard duty. It is very important for commander to know how many invaders are attacking garrison and that is where ranger really outshines other classes…
the thread is about useless in zergs and rangers and mesmers dont have much to contribute. honestly, staying in a keep, because u cant push is not fun. just being a veilbot is not fun and for me roaming is not fun. if i was into roaming id go spvp. wvw is about grupfights and siegeing(its war so yeah big zergs are part of it) and the most fun i ever had was when glamour was still strong as i was able to push a zerg with a mesmer group: we died a lot but we also killed a lot and that was fun for me.
as for rangers, they always had a hard time in zergfights but it used to be a little better before all the other classes got buffed. the problem atm is that any form of ai is not viable in wvw zergs. phatasms and clones are only good for groups around 5 people…maybe 10 but in a big fight they die in 2 seconds.

The Mesmer is far from the most “useless” class. Least DPS in a zerg? Perhaps. But they’re hands-down the best utility profession in the game.
so u think playing veilbot and portal service is fun?no its not its absolutely boring. so yeah a mesmer can hide and portal in. big deal, but the fun is actually in zerg fights and defending and siegeing and there we lack a lot. i wanna fight too, not just veil the warriors so they can go to get their lootbags.

Well.. cant really say anything else but ‘’learn to place’‘. Yes, it does gets destroyed, but if you use it on backline targets you’ll most likely get the full dmg from it.
Also, phantasm specs aren’t supposed to be viable in large group fights. That’s where shatter plays a role.True. Mesmer can be a very good weapon in a good hand.
Shatter can be used in duel, small, large and zerg fights.
You can flank running enemies, “mix”backline fighters, be a false target in enemies front, stomp downed enemies, etc. Of course veil and TW are some good options in large fights.
if u are meeting a 40+ man zerg, there will be no clones to give a false target, there will be also very limited phantasm dmg as they maybe get 1 hit done, but die right after. the necro and cc spam by warriors, plus eles aoes is killing them wayyyy to quick. veil and tw is support again and not everyone wants to be a veilbot. even with backline our aoe is simply not good enough for zergs atm. if they were to buff our glambuilds again, then we would have fun again and actually be able to kill.
Mesmers, period, aren’t designed to offer much in the way of AoE damage in large groups. We’re a dueling/skirmishing profession by design, and primarily utility in a zerg.
I don’t think this needs to be changed, and we don’t need to give people more reason to whine about phantasm builds being over-powered in 1v1s.
i have to disagree with u. no class should be forced to be a utility support character that cant contribute to dmg and only veil a zerg and then stand back and wait till veil is ready again. also no class should be a 1v1 class only.
anet stated clearly that every class is gonna be more or lesss equal and that there arent any clear roles like support/healer/tank/dps, so no i dont wannna be stuck with a duelist only class as a light armor. duelist is always medium armor

u kidding right? thats not fun at all. i mean who wants to be a veil/portalbot? we lack aoe and are too squishy to use our duelist skills in combat. u only need 3 mes for veil and portal, thats it. after veil and portal is placed u got nothing to contribute, but anet seems to fail to see that issue. they see the spvp mesmer that des well in small encounter but doesent see that all the clones and phantasm and all that doesnet work in wvw zerg fights.
