honestly, dont blame the build, blame yourself. i jsut did it 10 times in a row without dieing. Ya i went down, but im less tanky. Its easy once you perfect the rotation

Im not blaming the build, im blaming my gear and myself. The rotation isnt strong enough in my case because I havent wasted my time getting condi gear.

How are people doing the 5 gambit achieve with minions? I tried that and just get nuked everytime. Doesnt matter if I cc subject 7 away from the oozes, minions dont kill him fast enough and the oozes kitten necro DS and hp.

I also tried doing it with this condi rotation. Cant survive long enough. I guess it might be because the oozes dont seem to spawn in places where i can keep them off sub 7 easily and i dont have condi jewelry.

Why anyone would pay to do a dungeon path is beyond me, my issue is more with the people who do actually pay than the people who sell. There would be no market if noone buys. I mean I realize people want tokens for skins or whatever but seriously paying someone else to be able to get them instead of just finding a guild to run with….f tha.

Its too hard for casuals though.

You can still solo lupi with a necro. And you can solo p3 with a necro. Id say its easier to solo lupi now with the lifeforce buffs and the cooldown buffs.

Hey look 4 warriors did it faster.

I want Necro to be better, really I do, but it just isn’t.

No one’s arguing that Necros are faster, just that they’re reasonably competitive.

They arent even close to be competetive with warrior dps… They were like 1-2min slower then 4 warriors.. We hit like 10k on the last ghastly claws hit in cof and warriors can hit like 20k in cof with hundred blades. We are out played by every class and there is no reason to have a necro in a dungeon…

20k is very low for 100b. But yeah a 4 necro run isnt a decent method of proof. It needs to be 1 necro in an optimised group.

Im gonna start recording dungeon runs but I dont know whats best to record with? Once i have that sorted and can record in decent quality I may start running with a necro.

There has yet to be a single high-quality public demonstration for comparative Necromancer DPS or even team utility in dungeons. That’s what people are waiting on: one good video to prove that a necromancer can speed up a run.

Edit: I’d like to make clear that I think there’s a very real possibility that Necromancers can do the damage desired, and that the community at large has just judged too quickly. Of course, the best tactic may not be well-known yet either.
Rangers are a great example of this: Spotter, frost spirit, and actually using a melee weapon turned out to bring enough personal and team damage that they could be a valued member of a run, rather than being largely reviled by people who thought they knew better.

A zerker necro can do on par damage with other classes in a speedrun. But theres still no reason to take one. We dont provide the group with anything worth taking. Warriors have banners, ranger has frost spirit, guardian has utility and defense, ele has the best damage with LH, thief has huge dps and stealth and mesmer has amazing utility but bad dps. Engineer in theory is strong aswell, but noone in the dungeon community has bothered to try and find a use for them.

Also to add, a pure dps guard with no utility or defensive traits can actually do better dps than a warrior when buffed up with banners and stuff. Its just noone takes a guard for that, you take a dps guard with honor for the utility.

It’s OK for people not to run other stuff that isn’t cookie-cutter. It’s not selfish for them to do so. And it’s also not bad for you to choose Berserker’s gear.

Don’t play with Soldier’s gear people-your problem/hate for it is solved.

When you see people strugging with stuff you dont just let them carry on being ignorant and strugging on. You help if you can. Obviously people have a problem with sound advice in this game because it goes against a quote the devs should never have used. “Play how you want to”, they should of added “and dont give a toss about anyone else in your group”.

Tools are mean’t to be used if you need them, i didn’t need them so i carried more dps to speed it up.

Good for open world soloing. But if you plan on soloing group dungeons, you may find the necro to be a bit tricky. Still possible though.

Please nerf. Its far too hard, I dont have time to spend hours in this dungeon and then find that the final boss is unbeatable. The spiders are too much for my PVT gear. This is not fair, this dungeon wasted my time. I demand compensation!

The game is easy. Any player, even the most uncoordinated can be perfectly fine in zerker. Soloing lupi, maybe not. But doing a dungeon as a group, yes.

Anyway even a bad player with zerker gear is more useful than a bad player in PVT. With the zerker gear they can do much better dps to trash groups which dont require anything but auto attacking or pressing buttons. Id take a zerker player who downed every half a minute over a pvt player anyday. Because even downed they are doing more damage than PVT.

I wonder how many people managed to complete candidate trials t4 solo with clerics or pvt. Probably not many.

There are so many reasons why healing power and other defensive stats are useless in pve but I wont bother going into that. If you want to play with a selfish build, thats fine by me. Just think about how you could be doing alot more for your group and making it a much more enjoyable experience if things go faster/smoother.

Someone mentioned you dont notice people running PVT. You really do even if its just 1 out of 5 players. We had a pvt pug guardian in a 30 frac a month ago, the difficulty went way up simply because the group dps was so lacking. And thats another point id like to mention. Tanky gear and damage mitigation might seem good at keeping you alive but in practise it doesnt keep you alive from most attacks and from prolonged fights. Taking those stats reduces your dps which makes the fights last longer. I couldnt count the amount of times ive seen pug groups wipe simply because there was no dps. You slow the fight down way more than you boost your individual survivability, which ends up causing more problems than solving.

Im not trying to stroke my ego. I want to help players, and for players to become better at dungeons they need to realise the best way to do them. Which is dps…. Ive helped loads of people in my guild and theyve come to realise the truth and thanked me for it.

Ok i made a post explaining the reason we have this variety of stats in the game in the dungeon forum section. In short the reason we have so many stats is for pvp and wvw. And the reason no gear has all defensive stats (they all have atleast power or condition damage) is because anet intended there to be no tanking or healing. They are just stats to suppliment certain builds (mainly for pvp and wvw). The meta is to do damage and defense stats are a waste. Just because you dont like it, it doesnt mean its leeching. You are slowing the group down when you dont need to. I dont know how you cant see that as selfish?

The problem is people are thinking of support and control roles as something you have to build your class around completely.

The reason we have all these weird stat combos is too make certain parts of certain builds more effective. But if you look at every single stat combo it either has power or condition damage on it. This suggests that Anet always intended everyone to be dps but some people to be dps with support and/or control. The more defensive gear is just for less experienced people who are learning mechanics or for select situations or WvW.

Anet said every class can play every role. Every class has a self heal and cc and damage mitigation which they can access without building completely around it. And that suggests to me that the meta was always meant to be full dps if your skilled enough, but take some utility for certain encounters. I do want them to make different and more specialised dps builds become more viable though.

Yeah, if Sigil of Earth procs, you won’t be able to get the Sigil of Energy boost for 5 seconds (and vice versa, so using them on the same set will prevent you from getting Sigil of Earth procs for 9 seconds). So unless you’re sure you can notice every single time when you get a Sigil of Earth proc, it’s probably not a good idea to use these two sigils together.

Shouldn’t be any problem with this, but you couldn’t, for example, use 2 “on swap” sigils on the same set.

All sigils with cooldowns (including on-swap sigils, which have a 9-second cooldown) share the same cooldown.

On swap sigils dont share a cooldown with on crit sigils.

No that’s what the gold bonus is for they kittened up the tokens and its really annoying for people who want armor

I’d recommend finding a good guild that you can do all 3 paths with, or 4 in the case of Arah.

He’s in my guild. We are the best guild in Guild Wars 2.

That daily bonus chest was supposed to be character bound, not soulbound.

Bonus chest was once per day account wide, that’s what they said they were doing and no one complained.

We just never expected the bonus 40 tokens to be moved to it aswell.

Because your using nemesis’s build. You need to either stay in DS or use runes, sigils or consumables to boost your crit chance.

Berserker gear is the best gearing for any and all dungeons. If someone kicks you for berserker gear they’re frankly terrible.

If you don’t know the dungeons and you aren’t confident in your dodgign ability you will down and die fairly often at first. Some people would suggest starting with Knights or Valkyrie and replacing gear with berserker as you improve, but personally I think learning the hard way and jumping straight into berserker is better as it will insure you don’t get bad habits from using more defensive setups.

I wish someone told me to do this when i first started using my guardian in dungeons.

Most pugs are notoriously bad because of this. That is selfish. To ruin other peoples gaming experience just because you refuse to play in a way that is most beneficial to the team in a team environment. You can play however you like and build however you like. But keep in mind how you are affecting the players around you.

But taking it just because they want to be lazy with dodges and have no interest in becoming a better player is purely selfish and far more toxic behaviour than so called “elitists”.

Of course, assuming you are running CoF, wich hardly is challenging.

Having a PVT/Knights in a group and instances that requires solid control (yes, you do get aggro with higher tough) is extremly needed.

For example, when we did Aetherblade Retreat, being able to tank and control the whole fight, while cleansing and healing, pretty much made it far better.

Same goes with harder instances like Arah: a pvt/knight is doing some good dps (but not best), keeping mobs on him, keeping everyone buffed (hammer + self built symbol + blast), walls and of course, controls.

Well, there are bad PUGs indeed, and running that for COF 1 is problematic, but generalizing ignoring “tanking” needs for good runs on hard instances (and therefore not as popular) is just silly.

This post just shows your inexperience. I run beserker in every dungeon with no issues. I ran a beserker guardian in Aetherblade aswell with 1 other dps guard + 2 zerk warriors and 1 zerk mesmer. We stormed the dungeon and got the time gated achievement very easily. The majority of cof zerker players are just bad pugs who dont know how to dodge. You dont need to dodge anything in cof. But zerker is still the best gear stat for all dungeons and even fractals. You have dodges, blinds and aegis for a reason, why sacrifice dps for a stat you dont need?

@spoj, it’s probably similar to ranger, and ranger brings group buffs. You’ve already admitted necro is just a sponge so ranger is better in that only.

People saying necro damage is as bad or close to mesmer damage have obviously never played a necro before. It might not beat thief damage but id argue its better than ranger at the least, just relys on the team to buff up.

Rangers actually have the best damage when supplied with a Lightning Hammer since their goes up to – more or less – the standard auto-attack damage (with full zerker that’s 1.5-2k, 1.5-2k, 4-5k on third hit), ON TOP of the damage the pet’s doing.

My warrior hits harder than that with a lightning hammer >.>

I calculated my necro gets about 11318.44 dps without boons, vulnerability, stacks and banner buffs (With 4 conditions for target the weak). 12014.68 dps if the fight lasts less than 13 seconds. Im not sure how correct my calculations were but i could of made an error with base damage of attacks. Anyway this compared to a warrior with the same conditions using the 30/25/0/0/15 build, which is 11853.98 dps, is pretty impressive. From what ive calculated so far, necro dps really isnt that bad, its just the lack of utility and team buffs.

Power builds are actually extremely flexible for pve….Honestly you can just about go 30 points into any of the trees except death magic.

Corrected that for you.

Curses is very good for power builds. The 25 point minor is majorly underated. And Banshees Wail makes your warhorn a dps monster.

As much as it is a learn2play to complete. I do think you guys need to be realistic. Theres no way that they way it is now is intended. The shear amount of spawns is over the top. At the very least alls adds should despawn on reset, that change would give people a second chance and you can still keep your challenging boss fight.

Btw when dodging the shake, i assumed that was always a myth. Because i use to do that with pugs before this change and it would never guarantee that spiders didnt spawn. Do you dodge immediately or after a delay? Because when you dodge after a short delay you get evades but those are only from whatever drops from the roof and stacks vuln and does damage (Nothing to do with spiders as far as I could tell). Unless spider spawn is a separate attack at the start of the shake animation? Ive tried dodging both early and late, gotten evades and still had spiders spawn on top of me and not my teammates. Although not every time, sometimes the spider spawning doesnt seem to target some players. Ive not bothered to dodged before and no spiders spawned.

Would be good if someone could test this more closely and find out exactly how it works. Because at the moment it just seems unreliable and inaccurate.

Also this run isnt right to the end. So no tokens for path completion. Interesting idea to farm it like this. I have a recipe so TA tokens are actually pretty profitable for me. But with the patch next week, it will prob be better to just run through multiple dungeons. Then if you have free time afterwards you could come back to this.

Full beserker. CoF, CoE and Arah all give beserker gear.

Funny thing is, I wakittenting 7k lifeblasts yesterday with my 30/25/0/0/15 build with 10 stacks of might and no warrior banners. Was also hitting 6k on final strike of dagger np. If im not mistaken Nemesis’s build required a bit more than that to hit 7k.

You know that’s not right mate… I usually like to contradict/debate with you cause it brings out results, but when people leave me in game emails saying… that you’re trashing my builds, that’s not really fun.

You can’t have higher life blast hits then mine in your build, because i have more power… since i sacrificed critical hit chance to obtain it. I have gain that critical hit chance back with SR 30… so basically now i have more power and more critical hit chance then you in DS while in DS… and more critical damage just for being so far into SR.

You on the other hand have more damage on your dagger 1 spam then me…. because of fury and higher critical chance while not in DS. But you know all of these… i know all of these, we also talked about these…

Your build doesnt have any more power than mine. I have less crit damage but more damage modifiers. I do hit 7k lifeblasts pretty easily. And my dagger hits 6k with only 9 stacks of might. Im not trashing your build, but claiming your build is the best glass cannon build is wrong. Because its not. Im not even saying mine is. Yours could do with a few tweaks to make it a whole lot better. Then it becomes just preference on 30/25/0/0/15 or 30/10/0/0/30. But your rune choice is bad, you build your builds around being completely independant and solo. I build mine so they work both solo and in an organised group.

Im not trashing you. Im just trying to give people advice. You might be good at theory crafting and presenting builds. But Im pretty sure I play glass cannon necro way more than you and have experimented with it probably alot more than you. The one build that I cant say anything bad about is your hybrid build, I would do a few things differently but just because of my own personal preference. I respect what you do for the necro community, but I dont see the point in allowing people to blindly think that a certain build is the best just because a “famed” necro player made it and did a video.

And they’ve said multiple times they wont be making new weapon types anytime soon. They will be bringing in new weapons for all classes from the pre-existing weapons. It actually irritates me when people come up with unrealistic suggestions like scythes, because it doesnt help the discussion and it just derails the topic into some fantasy land.

Dont need scythes if we have an animation and skins to fill your need to be grim reaper. Make reasonable suggestions please (ie already exisiting weapons).

No thank you. Shroud dancing is a perfectly valid tactic. I do it in my dungeon build for fury and weakening shroud. If it took 1 second I wouldnt be able to use it as often anymore as it would be too much of a dps loss. It would destroy my build basically.

Might gives power, but stacking those runes instead of actuall dps runes or orbs is a dps loss, especially when your party is stacking might for you.

Ive been in groups lately with this necro build and while everyone has 5-10 might i’m sitting there life blasting and hitting all attacks with 25 stacks constantly.

You would do more damage with ruby orbs and and less stacks of might though. The duration of might from life blast is long enough as it is. Just because some groups are bad at keeping group might up doesnt mean you should reduce your personal dps to compensate for those occasional situations. If you really want might duration, just take 2 and then have 4 ruby orbs.

Interesting. Makes me wonder if Celestial gear would be good for hybrid builds.

Maybe the ascended celestial. But the new exotic celestial armour has terrible numbers for all stat gear. You lose too much of everything except crit damage.

Erm i swear this never use to be the case. But i was just looking at the animations and the symbols in Lions Arch. Chillblains and Reaper’s Mark now have the exact same symbol with the green smoke emitting from the centre. Based on the icons on the skillbar id say some patch has replaced chillblains symbol with reapers mark. Probably when they altered mark base size.

No, you put ruby orbs in all your armour or you put all scholar runes in your armour. Scholar runes are a bit expensive though. So its either 6 ruby orbs or 6 scholar runes. Weapons you take whatever sigils are most appropriate. I use Force and Strength on my dagger and warhorn, bloodlust on my focus and accuracy on my axe.

Accessories should just be full beserker ascended or exotic.
