@tigirius – (not quoting a long post)
Being affect by a bug so that you are not getting any drops is one thing but making the claim that it’s hard to get crafted gear in this game is just silly. And even if it is hard to get crafted gear you can run each path of a single dungeon and get 1 piece of exotic level gear on average (180 tokens for all 3 paths) a day. Depending on your group and then dungeon this will take anywhere from 45 minutes to two hours.
But if it’s crafted gear we’re talking about that is what you just have to have. Farm orichalcum, sell it. 1.3g to 1.5g a day for 1 character, takes 45 minutes if you’re slow. Can be done in as little as 20-25 minutes if you know where the locations are. Do this 2 or 3 times and you can buy a piece of crafted armor from the market.
Anyone who makes the claim it’s hard to get gear in gw2 has no idea what they are talking about. Unless your character is bugged somehow the above methods rely on no rng what so ever and involve very little actual grind. Unless you don’t like dungeons and see them as “grindy”, but that a personal issue.
And none of this has anything to do with pay 2 win.
Allowing people to completely buy every piece of gear with gold is p2w because yes the stats on gear does affect WvW(even if it’s not as much as some claims it is)
And yes I’m an open world pve farmer engineer ( the majority of the complaints come from my section of the community ) and shouldn’t have to rely on other people to get the materials i need which is what grouping for running dungeons entails basically or try to solo wvw to get something. Also, that doesn’t discount that this is how the game is designed now. You have to run twenty million dungeons or spend 4 hours a day to get three gold unless you happen to find something no one’s noticed yet in the TP. some niche purchase that gives you a temporary advantage when no one’s looking.
So yes, my original statement stands. It is far too difficult to get the basic gear players need at level 80 without having to buy gold (because even if you do farm wvw or you do farm dungeons there’s a huge startup cost for bags as well as bank space and you even need that to succeed or were you lucky and won multiple 20 slot bags somehow?)
Yes I do suffer from the Dr bug and it’s really annoying to not hear a single thing other then “it’s your imagination” when we report it for two months.
It’s really bad management to allow this game to get to this state and say there’s nothing wrong.
And from the sound of your post it sounds like you didn’t have any issues, did you play the game for the first month when loot was actually normalized?
My point is also ask any new pve player that just reached level 80 who’s been affected by the loot issues, like not being able to join a group because they are either an engineer or they are not geared the way people want them to be, they start looking at bag storage both from the TP and the crafting standpoint and realize how ridiculous it is, they realize that magic find is just a prop and doesn’t work properly, they find out that large events don’t drop anything not even the dragon events……. the list goes on my friend, denying it just because you had really good luck doesn’t mean it’s not happening.

I was surprised at the sheer lack of town clothes when this came to my attention the other night. When i did a search only 1 free piece of town clothes came from my googling and it was a piece of cloth for your head. Really? LOL
not in the slightest considering.
And some of us are on weaker classes that have some rather strange bugs. I still have the bug on my thief where every mob and their grandma can completely see me while stealthed if they are doing an AOE attack that targets me directly. I’m serious. It is especially noticable with grubs.
My engineer is still in the beta testing stages so everything he has just plain misses or takes a bazillion attacks even when in burst dps builds.
We keep seeing how people had this miraculous gold appear in their accounts from just a few hours a day. Well that was fine some months ago when the drops functioned properly. You could get gold easily back then. Now you have to struggle and many a new player is feeling it.
Not everyone is getting drops equally. We’ve been trying to report to the devs this for weeks now and we keep getting these people replying to these threads who A: have played since day one so they DID get the good loot bubble when it existed and then comment on their early drops like it’s happening 24/7 now (almost guarantee you it’s not) B: people who haven’t been touched by the DR bug who think others don’t know what they are talking about because in their tiny universe their drops are fine. It doesn’t help, these people who are posting these things should definitely be concerned because if this continues you won’t have anyone to run dungeons, play WvW, or sPVP with as more and more new and old players leave because the loot drops are so bad for their accounts.
It’s not melodrama it’s a fact. It’s happened in multiple accounts now heck one thread was 1200 posts long concerning this very thing. When it reaches the thousands on the forums how many others are we NOT seeing in the game that don’t bother reporting this and just leave for something better? And we’ve seen how lack of loot completely decimates the population of lesser games, like D3 where they lost 60% of their population all at once because people got tired of the devs not listening to their pleas about how bad the loot was until it was too late.
I’m not even talking about getting legendaries I’m talking about simply gearing your level 80 even in crafted exotics and crafted runes is a huge chore. Some people have said it’s been done on purpose. I’m not sure at this point it either is (because we’ve all known the greed corporations can get) or there’s something seriously wrong with their data collection software causing it to not show them what’s happening to most people.
What gets me as well is how people think it’s working perfectly fine when they are doing pvp. You shouldn’t have to pvp, you shouldn’t have to dungeon run, you shouldn’t have to bend over backwards to get common loot to drop for materials that are necessary to make the crafted armors and weapons or even the mystic weaponry. That’s the whole point of threads like these and until the rest of the playerbase actually becomes concerned that their fellow player citizens are being affected like this then there will always be the threat of too many people leaving a title for better things to do then waste their time.
The people reporting these things don’t want a free handout, they want to be rewarded for their time spent in the game and it’s so not a selfish or bad request.
This is a great post to discussion argumentation, aka, how to better put together posts that are persuasive.
First up, 15% and 60% are completely pulled out of the kitten. Unless you have hard numbers, avoid numbers at all. If you want hard numbers in your magic find, look at comparable pieces and do that math. The difference between Explorer’s and Berserker’s is trading crit damage for magic find and small reduction in power on some pieces. There is a definite answer to how much it affects a player’s DPS and income, and the answer isn’t 15% and 60%.
Which brings up the second big problem in the post. The author is comparing exotic gear to green gear. This means any comparison between magic find and not magic find is going to be watered down by the addition of other variables. How much worse are the overall stats of the author’s magic find gear versus his exotic gear?
Bringing up Sigil of Luck actually works against his argument. Like all charge building sigils, if you can make effective use of SoL, that means you aren’t getting faceplanted regularly. I’d be perfectly happy with any party member that is on their feet fighting throughout the dungeon as opposed to players who are needing constant rezzing. And if the price that party member wants to ‘charge’ for their skill is a bump in their income, I think they’re earning it.
The prisoner’s dilemma is a fun toy for analyzing that aspect of game theory. And right now, the majority people reading this have no idea what I’m really talking about including a fair number who think they do. This is the problem with bringing up jargon-like terms. Prisoner’s dilemma is a very specific thing with very specific conditions. It’s actually somewhat appropriate here except that the author misuses it. Oh, and prisoner’s dilemma doesn’t always apply to reality as humans have a strong tendency towards cooperation which is why things like the tragedy of the commons don’t always come to pass even in situations where the prisoner’s dilemma indicates it should.
The last, and perhaps most important argument problem that the original author runs into. He’s assuming the goal of all players is efficiency. As soon as you start assuming things about your audience without evidence to support those assumptions, you off kitten knows where in terms of the effectiveness of your communication. Now, there are certainly some players who read the original post and agreed with the conclusion the author wanted them to make because they do place a high value on efficiency. The problem is that we’re talking about a game, and for a whole lot more players, the goal isn’t efficiency, it’s fun. In fact, quite a few players are actively seeking to avoid maximizing efficiency since that’s too much like work which escapist activities like gaming serve as a distraction from.
This brings me to my only point on the topic at hand rather than argumentation. There is no way to ‘win’ this argument. Efficiency oriented players already agree with everything the author said and don’t need to be persuaded. Fun oriented players don’t really care at all what gear other players are wearing. You can’t bring those two groups of players to a consensus without changing the goals of the players. Since I’m firmly in the ‘games are fun’ category, as long as I can complete whatever it is I’m doing, I don’t care if it takes me a few minutes longer than someone else.
I completely agree, i don’t believe the poster either because I’ve learned not to trust the words he’s using. He wants to say that he’s one of those people yet downs his own practice. that’s not typical of anything other then a reverse psych manipulation post.
I’m not a dungeoneer. I would have to say that people running these dungeons were the reason most of us came to this title. Let me explain. Originally this title was supposed to be all open world metas added every month and dungeons would be an afterthought. If people wanted to dungeon crawl they could but no importance was placed on them. Then Nov 16th came along and suddenly the entire game was shifted. We kept seeing requests for things like dpsmeters, and gearscore, and cross server lfg. The game was never the same again and many people just up and left because they knew what we’ve all experienced.
That people who make up the majority of the dungeoneer crowd tend to be the time till complete crowd. smh. not worth it imo.

I suggested that we be given a switchable 2 sets of 5 button bars for the 1-5 keys and that these keys could be setup individually to be for different kits. So that we could more effectively do the attacks we need to do and let the computer do the kit switching. It would save us enormous amount of time by doing this and give us the much needed switching we need for the kits to be the maximum. Not everyone has those expensive keyboards you know.
tigirius said:
“Yet ranger gets an easy 5 point vigor 50% regen buff instantly, thief gets a return on their endurance automatically when dodging for about 15 points.”
Rangers may get a bonus 50% regen rate as a 5 point trait level. Fine.
Engineers, however, get 10% of their endurance back anytime they use a toolbelt skill. If you want to blow your load in toolbelt skills, you could effectively have an extra dodge right after the first two.
This is in addition to the increased recharge rate of toolbelt skills in the same line as the regen on toolbelt skill use trait. Down the line we can get the 50% bonus regen rate, as well as the ability to instantly refresh your toolbelt skills at 25 health.
We actually get the better deal when it comes to endurance regen for dodging.
If you want more endurance regen you can always get vigor on swiftness, which is a 10-point trait in Alchemy. It can be activated every 5 seconds, which lines up with both swiftness trait CDs (on crit in Firearms line, and on kit equip in Tools).
All in all, if traited we can keep up a 250% endurance regen indefinitely (a dodge available every 4 seconds), in addition to instantly getting a bump in endurance for every toolbelt skill.
My point which you obviously missed, was that engineer trait lines were just thrown together at the last minute. At no time should any profession have to spend 30 points to get the 50% boon. It doesn’t make any sense notably because there are soooo many other more useful tools to put in that grandmaster trait line for the benefit of the type of damage builds that would use that line all the way across.
I haven’t done the revamp suggestion thread yet it’s coming tho.
And I just recently asked about this. They said it was fixed. Thank goodness that since I am a farmer and have been disgusted by the games recent mismanagement concerning loot that I haven’t bothered trying to complete the main storyline.
Here’s my post asking about it
If that’s all it gives then no thanks. It should absolutely at the very least give two exotics. That’s as bad as the rewards for waiting three hours to fight a dragon.
(edited by tigirius.9014)
Is it just me or do they need to seriously buff these two so they are more feared. I’m thinking buffing them to the levels that the dollies had from the wintersday presents so whomever is doing the attacking against a retaliation booned foe actually gets downed from their own hits. I mean that was the purpose, I thought to help protect people from 1 shot bursters.
They’ll have the app as soon as they:
Fix DR, MF, Loot drops
Fix the laundry list of bugs per class
Take the engineer profession out of it’s beta stage
Add new permanent meta events to the world
Add ascended armor to the temples in Orr
Fix FotM once and for all
I’ve never wanted a legendary and I too am angry about this. It’s callous. It’s about as bad as claiming that DR is good for players.
There is a lot to do on the way to 80, there is very little to do in terms of PvE once you reach 80 though.
- You have the jump puzzles, but most of those can be done on the way to 80 and often by your first character and thus offer no real incentive to continue doing beyond the one’s in Lion’s Arch for vendor loot.
- There are the dynamic world boss events for high levels, or the temple events but the time spent to reward gained ratio is terrible which turns people away from doing them
- You can farm…and very few people like farming. Whether it’s farming T6 mats, or Karma, or Gold, it’s all rather boring to a lot of people.
- You can run the same dungeons over and over for gold and tokens, but that’s just farming with a party, and gets boring just as fast as basic farming.
- You can run Fractals, because apparently a dungeon that gets harder each time you do it is supposed to keep you entertained with it, but doesn’t. It’s the same thing over and over with a slight increase in difficulty. Nothing spectacular.
Leveling an alt is a nice way to spend more time with the game, learning a new class and playing a different way. But eventually you level enough of them and even the earlier content gets repetitive and dull.
So that leaves doing either WvW or PvP. If you’re a player that lacks any sort of interest in that form of play, you are again stuck with very little incentive to actually log on and do anything.
No right now you actually can’t farm because the drop rates are so low that even the farmers can’t play, It’s quite ridiculous to suggest that when the game is broken for so many due to DR, lowering drop rates by the day, permaDR bugs across accounts, broken magic find all in the name of stopping bots when history shows it doesn’t do that at all. Heck they’ve even lowered the farming of karma and xp recently. Weird huh.
Their focus on the dungeons has completely backfired on them and now there’s a struggle to try to get back to the plan they had at launch. Which ironically was working perfectly fine until they changed everything. Kinda supports the “ain’t broke don’t fixit” argument don’t it.
Please move these posts to the forums list of all suggestions
I’m currently sitting close to 1,500 healing and honestly am not seeing much benefit to the heal associated with each explosion. Right now I’m averaging ~260 health per explosion. The rate of spamming #1 bomb isn’t all that amazing.
Weapon sigil is Sigil of Life (+7 healing for every kill, stack to 25) and even with an added 175 healing, its still not enough.
Thanks!
Part of the big problems is kits don’t scale with stats so we are nerfed even in healing. your kit regen only gives you 120 per tick…check it out it sucks.
tl;dr available at the end
You have to spend 10 points and you’re not considering speed signets can stack with swiftness.
that is not entirely correct, speed buffs only stack to a max of +33%
so someone with swiftness moves at the same speed as someone with swiftness and any other speed increase. You can only run faster if a single skill gives more than +33%. This has been this way since Beta (actually since GW1 but that’s beside the point)I really like that we have the chance (multiple even) to get increased movement speed without having to sacrifice a utility slot.
I think spending 10 points is a lot “cheaper” than bringing a utility skill which you don’t even really want to actively use because the active part is probably awful and you lose the passive speed when you do (bla bla ele has a trait to keep the passive part even when the signet is on cd bla bla – this is a (grandmaster) trait so doesn’t really count)And utility slots are more valuable to us than to other classes because we get our “Weapon swap” from kits and all utility skills give us an additional tool belt skill. So you actually WANT to have as much utility customization options available as possible. It would really suck if we had to bring the “must have move speed Signet” just to keep up and run around with a skill we don’t use and a tool belt skill that might suck.
So considering that:
permanent swiftness > permanent 25% and
swiftness = swiftness + permanent 25%
i would say that we don’t really need a movement speed signetPS. if you don’t use a kit – well tough luck. That’s almost like not using weapon swap on other classes so you are probably doing it wrong. (Don’t flame – just my opinion)
tl;dr: Having no signet is absolutely fine because: Permanent swiftness > REST
I’m with this guy pretty much. A signet would have to have an incredibly useful utility or active (with a low cooldown) to justify it replacing a weapon kit with five skills + a utility belt skill.
Utility slots are even more precious to engineers than other classes, as they’re our version of a weapon swap.
I wouldn’t argue against dropping Signets to 20% for all classes though… 25% is pretty close to Swiftness speeds, makes the boon slightly less useful. That’s an entirely different topic though.
Well then make the trait a permabuff when using a kit. Simple, instead of relying on cliks and crits all the time. Put it with some other trait everyone definitely uses in two lines.
I just finished yet another hourly charged lodestone grind with 0 drops. And then it hit me: I have to spend between 150-250 hours to either farm for charged lodestones or farm them. By my playing standards that is around month and approximately 400g(by buying the cores instead)
Before you say that i want it easy mode or that i feel entitled to anything, i have finished most of my expensive gifts including fortune and i have no issues finishing up the rest of them BUT
Farming for Lodestones is a new level of grind, one that i have never seen in my 10 years of playing mmos and has to be by far the worst thing i have ahead of me.
My question is: Was this how the quest for a legendary really envisioned? Has anyone who developed this concept even tried to farm these recently? You have had 4 months to watch your data and make adjustments. It makes me think: Is this really intended? How could it, possibly?
I can hardly grasp it…
I’m not even trying for a legendary and I’m right there with you Ath.
All I wanted to do was help my husband gear his first toon and gear my ranger alt.
Don’t forget “their software doesn’t show this” so it must be solely your perception of the drop rate. That’s what I keep seeing.
I keep saying over and over, with D3 it was also “working as intended” and that was one of the biggest reasons people quit.
They buffed the drop rates every patch and it didn’t improve the economy or make the game feel more rewarding.
That’s why I said I’m not here for self-entitled reasons.
I realize that everything is relative. Higher drop rates will not do what most people think they will do. D3 is the best example of that. That game went from ilvl 63 rares being extremely rare and valuable to being common and easy to afford. Peoples’ complaints didn’t change.
Higher drop rates would balance out rewards of killing mobs relative to everything else. That’s all it would do. It wouldn’t be some magic cure for the economy for people who think the economy is busted. Those people are out of luck until they change their perspective.
No they only buffed drops after 60% of their playerbase left the game. that’s the only time they showed concern. wait for it here it’s coming….
I have a hard time connecting to the WvW map just to pop to my home city could we have a racial map travel skill to take us to our racial city? (hearth stone, home travel) even if it costs something small like a travel ration for 32 copper that would suffice. If however you add the ration, please remove any cooldown but if there is no ration, feel free to have a cooldown. 30 mins.
It really doesn’t need to be lowered. It is already a pittance to travel around in my opinion.
I don’t have the issues with repair costs and trust me i die far too often on my engi then anyone else does. in all exotics it’s really not that much imo.
traveling tho is another story. If you are within the same map they should remove the cost to move within the same map imo. that would solve most of it.
The other thing is I would love to see a racial map travel skill.
It doesn’t work in open world, it barely works in dungeons, they specifically cut it off from working on the plethora of chests in the world, it progressively gives your worse items the higher the percentage goes, they should just take it completely out of the game at this point.
Why does it sound like there’s an adult movie happening in or around the Minister Wils mansion? ( think that’s the name ).
It really does, it like all these women are moaning or something, one of the sounds over there for ambience is way off imo LOL I just thought it was hilarious, I went there originally to just see what the npc’s are doing on an hourly basis etc.
This was funny.
To Aproposs: I’m responding to your claim that we didn’t provide data, before you make the statement to me that this isn’t what you meant, perhaps you should go change your post, I just read it and that’s exactly the context used. Yes we already provided them with data and posts about what our conclusions were about these issues. the sheer amount of time it took to actually get someone to respond AND the number of posts on the previous thread shows that not only did they ignore this for far too long but they decided it wasn’t actual data. They made things worse in this thread by starting off claiming “it’s all in our head.” And yes they did ignore us, they filtered the AMA and someone had to sneak in the question about loot at the last minute to even get the answer about the investigation at all.
Which brings up the question: If all we’re going to hear from the dev community is that everything we are experiencing as players every single day in their game is not showing up on their data from their data collection software, then what is wrong with their data collection software? There’s pleanty of concrete data in that 1200 post thread about the issues why did it take an entire month after the AMA promises to investigate this only to be told it’s our imagination?
Farming run for 12.26.2012 2 hours:
killed 4 veterans 0 drops
3 greens
5 blues
30 body parts (all tier 5)
11 whites
16 greys
1 yellow
My final statement on this report will be this. What was wrong with their previous system of farming? Nothing. There was absolutely no need for a change. Would farming cause people to suddenly get ascended armor? no. Would it cause people to instantly be endowed with a legendary in 1 day? no. did it help people keep the economy balanced so that people couldn’t do what they are doing right now, which is gouge the prices for everything? yes. Did it prevent bots? no.
So one has to wonder, what exactly was the reason for this again?
(edited by tigirius.9014)
my sigils if different work in sequence. When they are the same, one works then the other does a few seconds later (like the fire sigils for example). If it weren’t for the sigils the damage nerfs would be severely noticeable more so then they already are.
That’s not my argument at all. The other classes can actually kill in three shots without having glass cannon builds. Meanwhile we as engineers have to equip and squeeze out every drop of damage and we still don’t come close. We don’t even come close to the damage output of the condition builds these other classes enjoy.
For example, my ranger kills things as a trap condi build half the level of my 80 condi built engi in full exotics in the same zone. That should tell you something right there. Part of the problem for condis is engineers don’t get the initial damage burst other condi classes get with their skills, necros and rangers enjoy this right off the bat.
Also, on can build their engi to be all burst berserker and STILL come nowhere near the number of shots regular classes in bunker builds take to kill something. It’s THAT far off.
Until they fixit there will be this huge noticeable gap in performance between those other classes and us. Even ele’s cond damage builds have that small burst when applying that condi damage.
To make things worse they have made the condi damage between classes actually tick at different amounts. My friends guards burns for example in condi build with the same type of armor had the initial hit and did 20-24 more damage per tick then my engis grenade/FT ticks do. My thief’s bleeds do about 13-15 more damage then my bleeds on my engi and my poison attacks on my ranger do more damage per tick then my engi’s EG attacks.
So there’s definitely something wrong here.
Mines closer to ten. Tho i never see them like i did in the beginning I think they have other games they are supporting. Mine used to have about 40 people.
it used to not be like this at all. I think people aren’t even leveling alts because of the ascended gear, the focus on Fotm and the lack of reward from time spent.
I’m not here to say that the game doesn’t feel rewarding enough, or it’s too hard to get items, or any other self-entitled garbage.
It’s just, it’s become clear that fighting enemies isn’t worth it.
This is especially bad in dungeons where mobs have boosted health but normal drop rates.
I understand that the devs are concerned about the health of the trading post economy and stuff, but there’s gotta be a better way.
The bottom line is, I should feel like any effort I take in the game is worth my time. If I spend time to fight mobs it should be just as rewarding as anything else I spend time doing in the game.
No reward for time spent is still no reward. People don’t seem to understand that. There’s this movement (which i don’t get at all and I understand RPers but not these people) that argue you don’t need gold to enjoy the game. Uhm well yeah you do. Because if you don’t have gold there’s a cutoff. You can’t run dungeons because people will deny you a grouping if you aren’t 80 a specific class (denying engineers) or in all exotics.
You do need drops to be able to play your way which is what this game was advertised as originally, don’t hold back do what you want. Well we’re trying to but it seems at every turn there’s some new nerf holding us back from enjoying our time in Tyria.
One of those problems IS the drop rate problem.
I posted in here and I’ll ask it again.
Do the rest of you think there’s something wrong with their data gathering software because they keep giving us the same answer to every concern? “our software isn’t showing that”
Absolutely. It’s kinda insulting that we absolutely HAVE to have three traits all costing about 40 points to get in every build we have just to keep up with the speed of other classes. There isn’t a build out there for pvp that doesn’t require that we have one of these. And if we try to live without these in pve we end up using our buffs we need for other things just to run up to the fight to catch up to everyone only to end up underbuffed to cause much damage ending up with a lower rating for the events.
Like if we’re supposed to be so versatile why are we being forced to take up these traits to succeed when any other class can just put a seal or signet on and bam instant speed boost.
Infused Shots, Power Shoes, Speedy Kits, Invigorating Speed. All a must for pve pvp builds that work well. Yet ranger gets an easy 5 point vigor 50% regen buff instantly, thief gets a return on their endurance automatically when dodging for about 15 points.
Here’s what I’d like to see in traits. I see this kind of thing all the time in the other two classes (I only play adventurer classes pve btw).
- speed boost with rocket boots on (make it act like a signet)
- traits that match the other two classes in where these abilities are. (no more having to use 30 points to get the 50% endurance regen instead make it like rangers, make it cost 5) (give us automatic abilities like throwing out glue globs when we dodge, give us a better defense from stuns right now we get only protection or cloaking but we really don’t get anything good. Rangers get the ability to activate regen and have the stun given to their pet instead, thieves can completely just teleport away entirely and go into stealth instantly, while we are just forced to stand there and take it even with 33% protection at the time it just doesn’t work the same)
I think I’m going to spend some time this week going over the traits of the other two adventurer classes and making a document with revised traits for engineers placing the traits in similar locations (where they should be placed for some builds) with suggestions for revised traits that match the functionality of the other adventurer classes. Hopefully they will accept my post in the suggestions forum when I’m done.
EDIT: Remembered another one!!. The boat from “The Goonies” is at the end of a jumping puzzle!!
The Engineer stole several of Data’s gadgets as well. Such as the Personal Battering Ram and the Slick Shoes.
I did an event where I had to escort some kids to a hidden treasure and on the way they meet and befriend an etten, I dont recall the names but it made me think of the goonies with the etten taking the role of Sloth.
——
There was an event, or maybe it was a renown mission where you help ogers tame new pets.
Some times they would reply with a line similar to “hug him and squeeze him and name him George.” Which some of you may recognize as a line from a Bugs Bunny cartoon where Hugo the Abominable Snowman wants to keep Bugs as a pet and name him George.
I recognized that right off the bat too. LOL Loved it I use my ram all the time.
The most soloable class is easily ranger. They have a pet which offsets much of their aggro, you can do awesome AOE with traps. It’s fun.
Guardians for melee would be my second choice as they have protections and healing. You can kill many things in two shots with just the two hander mace. Don’t bother with the sword it takes 1 attack too long LOL.
It would be nice if that happened. I’m on Tarnished Coast which seems to be the RP meca.
I can’t imagine how empty these places would feel if i didn’t see RPers sitting around talking in emotes all day. It would be sad to me too.
Ok i have 3 lvl 80,s , 100 % map completion , 5 × 400 crafting and nearly 3k achievement points , but it feels like i have done nothing , i dont know why this is . Does anyone else feel the same way ?
Need more cool titles n rewards at least , and being able to see you’re own achievement in game might help
I also play w v w v w and i get the same feeling there too , you cap a tower they cap it back instantly , lack of rewards too
I like the game and want it too succeed
completely agree. I was shocked to find that even when I did the kill the critters thing (indiscriminant killer) that I didn’t even receive a title for that. I’ve crafted like crazy and explored like crazy. I just don’t see the rewards. Weird.
I love this game too and I want it to succeed but they’ve gotta know they have left some things out simple things that normally keep people coming back for hours. Other games did this limited content thing and limited rewards for time spent thing and they lost a huge chunk of players all at once. I believe we’re starting to see that in this game on many a server. Since this game doesn’t rely on subs I don’t think it will cause too much trouble but imagine if no one plays for months which means no one is spending in the store for months. I hope this doesn’t cause a downward spiral and I hope they react in kind to fix these problems.
All I’m saying is this game right now isn’t even what we were being told prelaunch it would be.
It’s not even the horizontal progression open world focused game with dungeons as an afterthought and no invented “gap” between exotic and legendary armors.
You can defend honestly many things but you can’t say that the end game is what we were told it would be which definitely brought in many of the sales because people are tired of the same old paradigm of running dungeons for everything. whether they intended for FotM to take over the game or not the fact still remains that in all four months, we haven’t seen a single new meta event (the island doesn’t count because it was 1 time and is not repeatable even on dragon timers), which was supposed to be the main system of adding new content not only because of the severely reduce production time for metas as opposed to dungeons, but also because it was supposed to be the main focus for everything. Add to this the sheer limitations of drops even from dragon event chests and you’ve got a very big reason not to play anymore. No rewards for your time.
Other games did the limited content and loot limitation thing and instantly lost 60% of their playerbase and wondered where everyone went. It’s not too difficult to see.
We have boons?
The only reliable boon we have is might. And maybe regen. All others are rng.
Stability? Protection? Retaliation? Yeah… maybe if you keep your pet guardian close.
I’ve seen this as well. At best the boons we have are completely random or occur from throwing potions from the toolbelt. So exactly where is our defense? and if we are to believe this was done on purpose why in the world would we need to use a completely randomize potion build to do the same things other classes get so easily. Why can’t stability, retaliation be added to the potions like Elixir B that people use all the time or to Elixir S or some other machinery we use like rocketboots. Requiring a single gameply build in order to get the things that other classes can do on the fly really isn’t useful. (stability while using a mortar doesn’t help me run across a bridge with wind that will knock me off).
OP is absolutely right. It’s not just a 30% nerf it’s a nerf across the board. Unless this is prep for an upcoming fix to allow all kits to scale with gear we’re going to continue to see fewer and fewer people play this class. It’s really not that difficult to see. (speaking of PVE that is.)
To the elitists that keep posting:
Thanks so much for supporting the other players that don’t pvp by completely missing the point of this post and other posts like them complaining about all of the bugs.
Thanks for showing us that your niche build works so well in pvp while pve players are suffering.
Thanks for supporting your community by not contributing to the outrage of being ignored for 4 months. (Altho I do have to thank JonPeters for adding sigils that was a much awaited boost)
This guy has lost it. Kit refinement removed?? Static discharge with a cooldown? what the world?
Anyways, I have my own list Ima half to compile it first tho. (been keeping up with the bugs and poor design choices).
But one thing can’t be denied. For the love of god, FIX the bugs with the skills. PLEASE. Backpack generator does NOTHING, and turrets STILL fire at whatever they feel like.
You might want to pick other examples. Backpack regenerator does work, and it always did. It grants you passive health regeneration (NOT the regeneration boon, so it stacks with it for even greater healing), you just do not see the regeneration ticking until you take damage.
As for turrets… Pet AI in general is perfectible (ask rangers and necros), but turrets have serious design issues regarding use outside of sPvP, but I would not call these bugs.
Also, not using kits auto-attack ? Grenadier and Flamethrower builds would like a word with you I think. Hell, since you seem to like providing support and use elixir gun, you could spam Tranquilizer Dart for perma-weakness on hard-hitting targets (also our best single-target bleed application).
backpack regen doesn’t even get a buff from the +healing on your gear, it ticks 120 hitpoints per second, trust me I know, I used it and all of the other heal skills until I got tired of not being effective at healing.
I have all tier 6 karma healing gear on with 1300 healing rating, you would think that would actually make a difference right? nope, I put on my gear for DPS (condi damage) and my heals are almost exactly the same on EG as when I am wearing the other stuff. So yeah we definitely have room for fixes because these abilities suck in their current state, they need to scale with our gear in “every” aspect of the game, not just dps.
The only thing that was remotely a saving grace they just nerfed as well, the AOE zone heal. Now it barely does anything to keep up with the damage output of mobs much less veterans and champs.
I like these ideas. here let me add two more
( i seriously didn’t see these so please don’t flame if i missed them)
- mobile turrets instead of turrets let them be bots.
- mobile mines, they run after the mob we are attacking when activated and splode
- aegis armor, that erects the protection field when we get hit with a regular hit (traited of course)
I’ve used a build similar to this. I only stopped because I felt like I was just avoiding damage but wasn’t really able to put much out myself, but it’s definately viable especially worked into a bunker build.
That’s been my problem When i try something other then the FT with might build I get the feeling I can’t really put out enough and I end up shooting something with my rifle like a hundred times before it dies (exaggeration but that’s what it feels like) it’s even worse with my pistols and don’t get me started on my grenades.
I can see the appeal of this one but I’ve noticed that the EG isn’t really a good choice for trying to stay alive as much as it used to be you can throw down that extra zone but it’s really not doing much to keep you from keeling over while they are after you.
I just wish they would allow healing to stack properly on us I have 1300 healing power with my mixture of karma gear you wouldn’t suspect it if you saw how little it does for my heals tho.
Thanks again LOL I have to laugh at some of the names, shooting idaho spuds from my gun WOOT
The reason why we are angry is justified.
We haven’t had but 1 major bug looked at for four months now.
The reason I’m angry is because I DO love my class and want it to succeed and make sense. Right now with all of it’s problems not only does it defy many of the laws of physics it also doesn’t match the laws that the other classes possess easily. ie, my explosive radius of my grenades isn’t as wide as the dagger splash damage of my thief and gets worse when I trait into the line that is supposed to give me a wider radius.
See how that works? It’s like every choice we once had has gone and makes things worse which gets more and more frustrating as time goes on.
We just need them to put a whole team on this for 1 month to get the bugs out and that would silence many of our complaints instantly I suspect.
Yeah, the problems with this class are definitely NOT the players, in pve that is.
You can do everything the cookie cutter websites tell you to do, get all the same gear, dodge at all the right times but in the end, when you can’t do enough damage to the mobs to kill them outright without having to stack a massive amount of might from chugging elixirs like a college sophmore chugs beers there’s something wrong.
Sorry people-who-keep-arguing-elitism-is-the-answer you’re just plain wrong.
The facts are these:
- no other class has to give up so much to function
- no other class has to play a piano piece to play
- no other class has gotten a nerf with every single major patch
- no other class has to spam the #1 button on their attacks or point everywhere that 1 single attack is going to land then entire time all because it won’t be programmed right to auto attack like every other class enjoys on their weapons.
- all other classes can kill in three shots, we have to do it in 30 with similar builds, especially against level 80 mobs of every kind
- it’s not okay that we have to throw 30-39 total grenades to do the same damage as three swings of a two hander on other classes
- no other class gets so few communications about their problems, in fact the other classes get communications all the time and often they get fixes in the same day on patch day
People who are complaining are very much in the right for complaining because of the serious lack of concern about this class and until the elitists stop posting nonsense and get behind the rest of the community these concerns are less likely to be taken as seriously as they should be.
I have held out hope we will get some love in the future. I do get the feeling ANet may not know what to do with the class?
We are like the sciencey gadget people of the world so I kind of envisioned being able to have mechanical pets beyond just throwing down turrets, or having more additive mods for our equipped weapons. Admittedly they seem to have tried to do mods, but the effect is either broken or it has a very limited affect??
I would like to know if what we have now is it, or if their are actually some plans either to extend our function or at least bolster the imbalance… hell if it is just fine and we are all just missing something I will take an official play guide on how to be better with what we have???
I long for the day of turretbots and spidermines
I am thinking they made a new drop adjustment or maybe its just me.. Has anyone noticed yellow Items are not dropping as much. As for the person that says they only need 50 silver that’s good for you but not all the players would agree. I merch all the drops for my gear and you will need good gear and foods if you plan on advancing to far or you will be a ko farm and paying for repairs 100s times a day.. The game is like most games of this type getting needy for cash.. This is not the only MMO I play and others are like me we have and are seeing the changes that are going on industry wide.
The game is like life adapt and change is everyday..I heard they adopted Diablo 3’s loot system where you play for 50 hours a week and end up owing gold.
That’s been my experience for about a month now. Thus the reply to the OP.
please remove the revealed timer on the Last Refuge trait as it goes off so randomly it’s difficult to react to and doesn’t help with it’s purpose, survival.
Please remove the small attack that shadow stepping does on all of the shadowstep abilities so that one can use them to do a backstab when stealthed. ie. stealth/shadowstep/backstab….. even the stolen one does this. Or prevent this small attack that does no damage from taking us out of stealth.
Please remove the auto attack that occurs from preparation utilities like using a signet before attacking. This causes us to come out from stealth too early. I’ve tried it multiple times using my signet of agility (which is solely supposed to remove conds) It either does an attack or it starts autoattack. Either way it’s not fluid.
I’d like to have this too. give better rewards and spread them out.
That’s the thing though. I was in town with no one else around when I tested this. When I move the camera around 360 degrees. I would get as low as 10fps. I don’t think its that optimized. As some of are saying that’s its more CPU intensive than GPU. I got a 4.5ghz quad core. You can’t get much better that.
Oh well. It was only a test and obviously my system has failed.
It is actually the game’s code. I keep my system running smooth, with all the bells and whistles I’ve even started to use a tool to reduce garbage running in the background when I launch GW2.
I have disconnects all the time from teleporting, the FR drops entirely when i turn, I get dc’d in dungeons doesn’t matter which ones.
I reported the disconnects and the low FR to support did a plethora of tests. According to support it was my computer, they actually told me I was overclocking my system, my system was never overclocked, trust me. I then had my friend who is a perfectionist who works on a large corporate server base and did computer work commercially before getting his degree to work on the larger servers check my system out.
Needless to say it’s definitely NOT my computer. I run all kinds of demanding games on their ultra settings never have issues, save for this one. (still after about 4 months).
There’s something wrong with the code.
That’s shocking to me the number of deaths you don’t have on your engineer considering the problems we have and the horrible downed state abilities we possess.
Are you a tanky bunker build or support or something on your engi OP?

I will be honest with you. If you don’t want to spend a dime of RL money, you will need LOT’s of gold. Also, there will be this requirement to run dungeons despite the claims there’s a perfectly good open world drop rate for items of any worth in the TP.
People will tell you that you don’t , do not listen to them. Right now you can’t even gear up your characters without gold unless you get REALLY lucky and people are freeing the temples in Orr.
This game uses ALOT of the CPU and very little “comparatively” GPU power. That’s why we still have the turning lag.
