I added health and stamina bar placement just to put it on the list, but those feel like more cosmetic changes than gameplay experience altering changes. I certainly think there is a time and a place for those recommendations, but for this thread let’s just stay focused on the chore mechanics that could be improved and ways that they can be adjusted.

I like the recommendations about the f1 key being more versatile. I certainly think there is something more to be done there with it. When we talk about these things internally, I will be sure that we take a long look at all the F-key commands and see what improvements can be made. I personally favor toggles that allow you more control (what if F1 was both “attack” and “return!” that got toggled? What does that free up? Could F5 be a thing?). There are lots of options to explore.

There have been some calls for perma-stowed pets, and while I have said this in other areas I will say it again here. I don’t think we will let you perma-stow pets – the main reason being we want the player to be interacting with the pet, and the pet to be part of the identity of the player. The role of ranger is to to have a pet in our game, and with that comes a bit of extra micromanagement that comes with the package. Right now the micromanage is difficult and more tools are desired, and I honestly feel that once we make micromanaging pets easier, more responsive, and better in general that players won’t mind that they don’t have perma-stow capabilities.

Hi Dyze – If you’re on a work computer you may have something else running in the background that could be seeing flagging Game Advisor as a false/positive. If you’re unable to determine what’s blocking the application, your best bet may be to create a support ticket (if you don’t have the Game Advisor report that’s fine) and the tech agents will be able to collect some alternate diagnostic reports to further investigate the issue.

Hi Vlk Fenris – Sounds like you’ve tried just about everything at this point. I checked out your ArenaNet.log file and this in particular caught my attention:

    Module: GvOsd.dll

The Module here points to “GvOsd.dll” which belongs to Gigabyte Technology. Unfortunately this is a little vague here because it doesn’t point to anything else specifically, though this may be a driver issue with your hardware, or hardware related. This is the most prevalent error message in your crash report and very likely the cause of the issue that you’re experiencing.

At this point if you’d like for us to better look into it one on one with you, I’d recommend creating a technical support ticket and including a Game Advisor report in your response.

I’m sorry that your friend did not receive the mail you sent him, but we can’t control your email providers. We’re good, but not that good.

I suggest you look in your “sent” folder, retrieve the mail, and send it again. Consider an alternative mail provider if you have difficulties. If you were the buyer of that account, you can contact Support to ask that they send you the transmittal email again (but you must provide ownership verification, of course).

You mention a “contact us” form. If you mean the “Ask a question” form, we do send a verification of receipt. If you did not get that, I’m concerned again about your email account because you should have gotten a reply or replies. Why not start fresh: Go to this page, start up a ticket through the “Ask a Question” tab on that linked page, fill out as much info as possible and click submit. Providing they get the info, they will be able to assist you.

For tips on what information to provide in a ticket, please read this post and provide as much as possible to expedite the ticket.

The name in questions is on my account. Thank you for answering and looking into the situation. The issue may have been rectified on your end, however I haven’t recieved any e-mails confirming it and I haven’t seen any opportunity to change my character’s name back, although it’s possible that I’m just not looking in the right place.

I’m sure it seems silly to others, and I get that many people play the game for the lore and want names that fit, but I’ve grown very attached to the name and the character I built on it, as I’m sure there are many other players who are attached to their more serious names. I get that there have to be naming rules, and I’m not trying to get rid of them or around them. I originally tried to make an Asura named Britches because I thought it was a cute name and Asuras are cute to me. I wound up misspelling the name and it was on a friend’s account, but playing that character is what convinced me to buy the game myself, and I wanted to keep it.

If you feel that you wish to rename back to the britches name, could you please contact Support by filing a ticket through the “Ask a Question” tab on that linked page. Explain that your name was censored and then uncensored and that you would like the character “flagged for renaming to the original name.” They can contact me if they have questions; I’m here to help.

There’s 2 active mail spambots RIGHT NOW. Please, shoot them with an asura megalaser or something.

The two accounts responsible for botting are still active within the city. I can provide character names, but I know that’s not the purpose of this thread.

You literally can see a mail pigeon flying by every 2 seconds, and they both exhibit these bot lag/warping issues. They don’t reply even if they seem active, and the mails they send/receive do not stop.

These two guys have been dealt with, but another 2 took their place. Also, they’re in the same guild as the ones that have been erradicated. Is there a specific way to report this kind of botting issue? I have the feeling that investigating their guild would turn up a lot more bots, possibly an entire network.

You know, you have such specific and detailed info, I don’t think the in-game system (or this thread) will really be effective and halting their nefarious activities. Would you mind submitting a ticket? In that system, you can provide map, location on map, time (and time zone), plus all the character names you wish, because it’s private communications. I think that would be the way to go, if you have the time to do that.

I discussed this with the team, and there was some concern about Nuglet. (Not a lot, and I personally am not concerned, but overall it was reported and there are a few references that point to it not being too great.) We appreciate that you renamed the character, just to avoid someone reacting with concern. As you mentioned, you were not suspended, and that’s fair. Thanks for understanding.

Drug references are disallowed, and there are very few people who don’t understand “herb” is a very commonly-used reference to marijuana. Sorry, no. Change the name and you’re good. You also were not suspended.

Remember to rename with wisdom, as a second name block will result in suspension.

I do agree that it appears your email is compromised in addition to your account. I suggest you do a thorough system scan using updated security software. If you need other tips, you’re welcome to contact our Technical Support Team.

The suggestion to wrest control of the account and remove the approved networks is good, but it may be only a stopgap measure if someone can still access your emails. You need to sort of “go back to basics” to make sure everything is clear.

I also have had multiple login attempts. Infact i reinstalled this game not only an hour ago to find that they had set-up an identity on the game of their own.

A character named “Week Sey” level 80 Norn Warrior. The hacker had created.

I intend on playing again but it is telling me that the account is already logged in from another client elsewhere. (I’m assuming the hacker is on my account as I type this)

He must have already been notified that I changed the password and has already figured it out.

Disable the account login authentication?

I might keep it if the range of IP addresses it kept as a ‘known’ or remembered network were wider, but as it is I’ll often have to wait up to 30mins (or more) before the e-mail is received (in gmail), by which time the login attempt has timed-out.

All that means is I wind up extremely frustrated with the simple process of logging in. Having been around authentication systems for 20 years+ now and having had to wait to respond to an e-mail for these sorts of authentications it is beyond my comprehension that it should ever take more than 20-30 seconds for these e-mails to appear in my Inbox.

Certainly I cannot be alone in having previously disabled the e-mail authentication simple as a matter of making play-time possible?

That does sound frustrating! The email is generated immediately, so I’m really surprised to know it takes 1/2 hour to reach you. I don’t think I have a solution except to say that each time you approve an IP range, it is decreasing the likelihood that you will need to authenticate again. So it may be a bit of “short-term pain is long-term gain” because your account really is more secure and you won’t be authenticating repeatedly.

I wonder if you could ask your ISP why your IP address is changing so radically. It seems odd that it’s completely outside a reasonable range of IPs.

Removing the “come back” skill would mean your pet pulls even more aggro of things you don’t want anything to do with.
We already mentioned good ideas a thousand times but due to getting ignored it doesn’t get through.

The new stance modification would operate as the “return to me” whereas the attack stance would operate like it does now.
Let’s be serious in the consideration: “Return to me” currently functions the same exact way as turning your pet non-combative. The pet runs back to you to be at your side. It’s the same functionality right now, so honestly the return to me button is kind of useless with the exception it is assigned to a hotkey.

Robert – you may be on to an idea there. I still wonder if “Attack and be aggro” and “Heel and do nothing” are a bit too polar. An inbetween setting or two would be highly useful (especailly in a WvW zerg where I want my bet to be active, but close by) if you can get this to work while keeping the interface managable.

Also, pet which is currently heeling could use some utility. Sure, I call the pet back so it doesn’t get killed – at which point it is useless except for eisting and thereby allowing me to use my condition removal. I know not all pets have buffs, but they should continue to use skills like this when called back to the ranger and left on “heel” mode. Or perhaps there could be an automatic buff for each pet type when on passive, immediately cancelled when the pet is sent to any kind of attack (so the player cannot stack them).

Perhaps:
F1 – Attack
F2 – Special
F3 – Dodge-like thing
F4 – Swap
F5 – Toggle Behaviour (as suggested ealier, please bind this as it’s a small icon. Even more critical it also functions as a return).

A very valid point that I will bring up as a consideration in the meetings when talking about this subject. I think that requires a bit more AI work, but its worth it to at least bring up the possibility and see where things go from there.

Illconceived Was Na is correct in that if you’ve manually selected achievements from other categories besides Dailies, they will remain visible until you manually clear them.
This will override the auto-populate with Daily logic, since you have specifically told the system what you personally want it to track something.

The one thing that could still be a bug is if you’ve manually selected only daily achievements, and then at the rollover they don’t clear out properly until you log out. If you are seeing this, post here with what you had selected manually from the daily list! Thanks!

Here’s a thought I just had.

What if we made f3 use a defensive dodge skill instead of returning to the player, and we re-did the “Guard” and “Avoid Combat” button to better serve the function of “return and Heel” and “Attack and be aggro”

So it would be f1 to attack target, f2 to use special skill, f3 to use defensive ‘dodge’ skill, and our stance button would then be tweaked.

ranger weapons and bugs will certainly have their threads to be focused on, but let’s keep the discussion focused around pets to keep thoughts focused. “purity of purpose” and all that.

For the love of god, we already have enough things to juggle while fighting swarms of mobs in a dungeon ! —- I’m sure it will be fine for all the “PRO” players, but for us mere mortals – it will solve NOTHING>

Ideas are springboards. I’m not saying that is what we are going to do, but it’s something I will bring up to see if the group comes up with anything. Even ideas that may not work can be a starting point for an idea that will – and often times all a good idea needs is a not-so-good idea to serve as the platform that helps it rise above the rest.

I am still here and watching. I’m currently composing a list of ideas and statements from this thread to bring to our balance meetings (held multiple times per week), that I can present to at least talk about with the group.
I go to the meetings as a representative for rangers and dungeons, since I play both of those things extensively. Here’s how my list is looking so far:

Core problems: (Note: we are very aware of both of these things)
-Pet AI.
-Pet management tools
-pet F2 skill executing faster.
Things to investigate:
-Pets auto attacks only hitting a single target.
-On “return” command, your pet gains swiftness so it can escape out of red rings more easily.
-A button that makes your pet momentarily not take damage. A sort of “Dodge” button for you to control. This is mainly due to us making sure players know how to use their dodge-roll or damage mitigation skills, which pets don’t have, and don’t always know how to escape properly when recalled without a direct pet swap. (NOTE: This is a springboard idea for pets being able to avoid damage)
-Pet/minion AR that is shared with the master’s stats.
-More defensive pet skills.
-Vigor applied to pets turns into swiftness or protection.
-In dungeons, pet’s get more health/armor.
-Lick wounds not always working. Pet just runs back and stands on your body.
-Search and Rescue buggy
-F2 skills activating faster.
-Health/stamina bars for pets
-pet names not being undone when removing them from the “kennel”
-Boons displayed over pet health bar on UI

I dont know but im sure there will be people who post higher buy orders. But what I meant is that if it were that massive the buying and selling would fluctuate faster for my orders to be filled. I did post the highest buy price before logging off.

I think you should stop and think about this a little bit, and then come back with another response.

I passed by Maw yesterday while doing my dailies. Wasnt in time for the event but I saw one player linking a single rare and the rest saying he is lucky. ..

Exotic you mean. Rares are 100% or extremely close to it.

Nope I meant rare.

1. I’m pretty sure the maw has a virtually 100% rare drop for participating.
2. When I said those assumptions aren’t necessarily true, I meant they aren’t true. Over 10,000 unique sellers of ectos in the last 24 hours alone. What you are seeing is a supply shift, not an push up the supply curve.

The number of rares sold before patch was hovering at 12k total. Now it has increased to 35k. There is no way people could farm so much and so fast within the short period of time so the increase can only mean one thing; investors are dumping their stock.

You shouldn’t make assumptions like this, they aren’t necessarily true. Many times I’ve expressed how massive this market is, and that the orders don’t represent supply or velocity.

Okay, so we know a Thief can do this. It seems only logical since they have such high evading capabilities. Warriors used to be able to do solo this guy, but I’m not sure about now. Have there been any other reported professions able to solo Lupicus (proof or very well argued theories)?

My guess of other possible professions:
Elementalist, Guardian, Mesmer(?)

I bet a ranger could do it easy… it just might take a bit longer. Sword\dagger and short bow, and go full condi and evasion, and I bet it could be done. I may just have to try it myself… but I imagine people who say I am using dev stuff and not being fair.
