This thread is entirely inappropriate. There is not need for a “testimonials” thread for this or any banned player. We don’t accept them in the forums, as a point of fact. If the player is not guilty of botting, the account will be restored — it’s that simple. It substantially slows the process to have other people write posts or — Dwayna forbid! — submit tickets about this situation. Please allow time for this to get reviewed and resolved, as I know it will be.
We do not “profile” someone for his English-speaking skills, or his location. We look at account activity and a lot of other parameters before an account is suspended or terminated.
If your friend still needs help after three days — highly unlikely because we’re helping players so quickly — feel free to post in the Tickets for Review thread, which is at the top of this Account Support sub-forum.

Hey everyone,
As you may be aware, there was a change in the last patch that affected condition duration gear, and many rune sets are not correctly applying their bonuses. We understand that this is a severe issue and are working to correct this in an upcoming update. While I don’t have more concrete information at this time, I can assure you that this issue is being addressed.

This ticket is just a few hours old, and we ask that forum members use this thread for issues that have not been resolved in three days.
I note that you have received an explanation of the situation, and that appears to be as much as the team can do for you.
This looks like an odd timing issue that I’m trying to track down.
Was this solo or multiplayer?
Did you skip all the cutscenes, or watch them all? If multiplayer, did the other player skip any that you watched? Does it work if you do the opposite in another playthrough?

You didn’t hear back because the last update was from the CS side. If you wanted to update that ticket, you could ask if any changes had been made. Alternately, I wonder if there’s a way to remove your CC from the accounts you so kindly purchased for your family members. You might ask IF you are not purchasing anything additionally, and the first CC use was the only use. I’m not sure what they will find is possible in that regard, but if you’re bound now and forever for a single purchase last year, they may have a way to remove that “five account flag.”
Again, I am absolutely not sure if that is possible, but do discuss with Support, if you desire.

I am sorry for the frustration, and the best I can think of is sending a ticket to support so that they can temporary aid you in your purchases. The rules as they have stated them are true and cannot be individually modified, but I think a team member can help you with purchases.
We’ve said in the past that any configurable RFC 6238 device (physical authenticator, “dongle”) should be compatible. That is another option.
And there is the email auth. For questions about E-mail Authentication, see this post.

We offer two forms of authentication to accommodate those who do not have the mobile technology that supports the mobile authenticator. Both systems are extremely valuable to stopping account theft.

No, that is absolutely not the case. This is an individual security issue related to you: your email account, your game account, or both. But this is not an issue with Guild Wars 2 as a whole.

I just wanted to ask if there was anything being done about teleporting node farming bots? They are kitten near impossible to report and it’s obvious what they are doing. Some are clothed, most I see are naked. I’d assume it would be obvious to weed out players teleporting all over the place and ban them. I’m just curious are you working on a method to weed out and ban these bots or what’s up?
We do know it’s hard to get those names, but we take out botters of this type on a regular basis and our team is looking at other means to detect them, as well.
I think I found the issue, if Maeva was in combat or dead when the charges were placed, it could stall. I’m running the fix past QA now, but I don’t have an ETA for when it will go to live. (Most likely during a future content update.)
I understand that you were surprised to see the name change, but the name was actually reported to us. We have a provision against “creative spelling” and the name — while it may have been created with good intentions — simply wasn’t something we could leave in place. Using an anagram, the name was changed.
For further information, we do not offer display name changes (or re-changes) upon request. This is a feature that may come in the distant future, but it’s not something we offer at the present time.

Everytime I want to login I have to go to my mail and confirm ten bilion times that I want to login, the remember network button doesn’t even work.
Your IP is accepted as “known” in a range, but if your ISP is using broad ranges of IP addresses, you will be asked to confirm several, as the ranges get added to your list.
You may disable authentication, but I do not recommend that. If you feel you have a genuine issue with the authentication system, you should post in Technical Support and they will try to help.

No, we are not able to change display names upon request. It is possible that we will be able to offer this feature in the future (for a cost in gems) but it is not something that we currently offer or anticipate offering any time in the near future.

An unknown “friend” in the friend list and an email change that was hopefully tracked by you guys. I suppose it’s too much to ask for repercussions.
You see? It was resolved in a matter of hours, and all is well. I’m glad to hear that.
I anticipate that the GM will take action on the hacker’s account, if the data is present that allows us to do so.

These issues you’re reporting (TP not loading, buttons being grayed out) sound like it might be an issue with your browser settings. You may want to make sure you don’t have a firewall or a strict browser setting that could be interfering with the operation of the Trading Post. If you do find that altering a setting does help, please let us know!

I don’t see how this could possibly have anything to do with an error, in game, that is clearly on your end. So many people have been having the same issue, and yet, you do nothing about it.
New patches are great and all, but for some reason you can’t fix current problems in those patches? Even worse, you blame it on the players; I expected more from arena net.
I’m tired of seeing responses for every little issue, except for the large problem that the majority of people posting in this thread appear to have. The only one I saw, that I am quoting, is blaming users.Really? Get it together.

Unfortunately, due to the nature of using an in-game web browser, the user’s firewall settings or anti-virus programs can indeed affect the performance or connectivity of the BLTC window. If you are experiencing an issue that not every other user is experiencing, it is usually necessary for us to have you support a Customer Support ticket so that we can get your system information and help you out.
We are certainly not blaming users, and we apologize if our words are being taken that way. We honestly want to do what we can to help you experience Guild Wars 2 in the way it was intended.

I am sorry that this happened, but I am not sure why you are upset with the support handling of this situation. We simply have no way to address personal email hacks, and no way of knowing if you were hacked and whether you have regained access to the email account and whether you have absolutely locked down security to prevent it’s re-hacking. The fact is, we cannot control the hacker’s activities once he/she gains access to your email account and your game account, but almost always we can help regain access to the account upon verification that you are the true account owner.
Please continue to discuss with Support; I feel sure they will be able to help you as long as you can provide the details that you easily should be able to provide. For tips on what information to provide in a ticket, please read this post and provide as much as possible to expedite the ticket.

Lets start this train early with this patch. We did not nerf ecto rates of any kind, we’ve never nerfed ecto rates, if we change ecto rates, it will be in the patch notes I promise you.
This sort of automatic banning needs to stop, there is no excuse for this.
There is no automatic banning (suspension or account termination). Every single account that is suspended or terminated has had a human review and has met several parameters that lead the agent to conclude that the account is involved in disallowed behavior.
I am sorry that you have experienced a… whatever you mean when you say “ban.” You submitted an appeal, and that’s the right thing to do. You will be responded to quite promptly.

As I mentioned in the other thread, I’ve removed the summon ability from this story step as well. I do not have an ETA for when this change will reach the live servers.
I’ll look into it and try to make sure Grast uses the bubble properly, but we also made the roar he uses to summon the boulders interruptable so a focused group could stand a chance if Grast died or ever misbehaved.
On my mesmer, with one build, I can be effective in 1v1s, small skirmishes, as well as zerg fights while my Ranger seems unable to do this. The pet dying so quickly and easily in zerg fights is one part of this.
Rangers are able to do it. Just equip a long bow, throw down a spike trap, and be mindful of your barrage and you’re going to make a big difference. A well placed barrage from 2 or 3 rangers will make rushing forward a lot less appealing to an attacking army, and when they finally do come charging in switch to axes or some other close quarters weapon and micro your pet.
I just don’t like the big battles and tend to avoid them – but longbows are pretty strong in WvW.
I’ll admit I don’t WvW as much as I likely should. When I do though, I tend to avoid the larger battles due to culling and those pesky stealth thieves who seem to pick my Anet tag out of the crowd and proceed to stick daggers in my spine.
When I WvW, I tend to run off into areas where I can get the drop on someone who is running to an objective that is contested. Rangers are really powerful in 1v1, especially when you can get the jump on someone and have good daze\evasion. When I am caught up ikittenerg trying to push back another zerg, I tend to keep my pet in pacifist mode so it doesn’t go running off to its death.
In a 1v1-3 situation though, double hyenas and a trusty spider can be a real game changer and difference maker.

My main gripe is that agony resistance doesn’t carry over to ANY player spawned/controlled minions which in FotM10+ hurts the player a lot, more so for ranger since x % total our of dps is our pet.
We’re aware of and working towards a solution for that problem. Agony Resistance on summoned creatures and pets is something we are trying to do.
I already said it once much earlier on in this thread … but I want to reiterate my respect for Robert Hrouda coming to these forums. He bascially entered the lions den.
The honest feedback and responses we are getting in this thread are great. Interaction with a dev about a core ranger mechanic … really cool.
You all have been very respectful and welcoming. I’ll try to stick around as much as I can. My only fear is not meeting expectations – not in being called names and the like.
That being said, I am a dungeon designer. I don’t do the actual class balance work – I just go to the meetings and make proposals for the folks who actually build this stuff. At the very least I can echo things being said, draft proposals based on feedback from threads like these, and try to convince folks about how much of a priority issues like these should be. My momma taught me “The squeakiest wheel gets the grease” and I hold that to be very true, and I tend to doggedly follow things that I bring up.
We’re aware of a lot of the issues with ranger pets that have been brought up here, so none of this has been surprising so far. We’re working on the core issues I listed, and have been for a while now.
There was a bug with the outmanned buff which caused it to be stripped from players on death. That bug should be fixed in the March update.
This isn’t actual news, it is something we have mentioned multiple times before. As the original interview says, and I quote:
“Expansions are definitely something that we’ll potentially look at in the future,” he explained. “We don’t have a timetable on it. We’re open to it, but I think our major focus as a studio is making the living world concept as strong as possibly can for the players that we’ve got.”
No one said we will never do an expansion, all Colin says (again) is that we are currently focusing on Living Story and other ongoing to the live game.
