Hi NayruDragon – I’d probably recommend contacting support for this issue to ensure that your account isn’t being compromised. I don’t want to jump to conclusions, but to be on the safe side I would highly recommend it.
Thanks, that’s what I found, too—he can’t be attacked directly, but he was dying to poison. I’ve fixed that, and it’s being tested by QA right now to confirm it before we can apply it to the live servers. (Another change that I made is removing the summon spell from the krait witch since it’s too powerful in the small space where you fight her.)
Hey there Keef – Sorry to hear you’re having so many issues with installing the client. If you’d like to troubleshoot this issue, I’d like to collect a Game Advisor report so I can look into why you might be experiencing this problem. You can download the Game Advisor application at the link below:
http://us.ncsoft.com/gameadvisor/
Please note that you will be automatically prompted to install Game Advisor upon clicking the link. Once you’ve generated the report, you can attach it to this thread by clicking “More posting & formatting options…”
If you don’t want to provide this information in the forums, we’d be more than happy to assist you through a support ticket.
Hi Vulcanite – This particular issue may take a little bit of investigation. Rather than throwing possible troubleshooting steps at you, I’d like for you to create a support ticket if you haven’t already so that we can better assist you one on one. The sticky thread below should provide more information in regards to contacting support:
Hi erkball – If you’re still having this issue could you please provide the crash report so we can take a look to see why you might be experiencing this problem? You can find the report by navigating to Documents\Guild Wars 2 and it’ll be the ArenaNet.log file.
You can also attach it to the thread by clicking “More posting & formatting options…”
Hi there,
I’d recommend creating a support ticket for this issue so we can better assist you one on one to narrow down the cause of this issue. You can find more info about submitting a support ticket through the link below:
Glad to hear you were able to narrow down the cause of the issue!
Thank you very much for the bug report! We’re documenting it now.

Hi Shirooni – I’d recommend a clean installation of your video card drivers. If you look at the crash log, it would appear “nvd3dum.dll” is the likely culprit.
Hi Phishhy It’s possible this may be caused by outdated Root Certificates on your machine. In an effort to update these I would like for you to follow the steps below:
1. Close out of Guild Wars 2 if you have it running and go to your Documents folder. In the Guild Wars 2 folder you should have a file called Local.dat, delete this file.
2. Download the program from the link below:
http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3/static/trustedr/en/rootsupd.exe
3. Run the program. You will probably have to click ‘run’ or ‘allow’ a couple times, but after that, nothing will appear.
If you run the program and nothing happens that’s ok, it is as it should be.
4. Open the Game Client and try to access the trading post.
Hope this helps!
Hello,
as it has been said in other occasions, there´s no information regarding this. If anything becomes available, you will be promptly informed.
Thank you for following up on this. While I don’t think we’ll be able to retroactively fix this issue with a design solution, our CS team should be in touch with affected players concerning other resolutions for this.
Sorry for the inconvenience!

Thanks for letting us know about this! We’re investigating what could have caused this issue.

Robert, let tell you what I think adding a pet dodge mechanic will resolve for 90% of your Ranger player base: nothing.
Like Gutbuster has stated, “Often it’s difficult enough to know exactly when you need to dodge in order to avoid some damage, with a pet dodge you’d be required to not only keep track of your own position but also your pet’s exact position which also trying to see your pet amongst all the spell graphics surrounding bosses getting nuked, seeing red circles on the floor which may be behind the boss since that’s where your pet is, camera angles etc the list goes on a bit. In addition you’d also have to hit your own dodge key as well as an additional F key or any other key bind you have.”
I agree with him whole heartedly.
Yes, without a doubt there will be a small fraction of Ranger players that will benefit from the mechanic: the “Pro” player, if you will. These people have ridiculously quick reflexes, as well a superb RIGs and a mouse with dozens of key binds they have no problem dealing with. I’m NOT talking bad about these players; hey, god bless ’em, they are the exceptions to the general rule, and they make the most of it. These tend to be your best of the best players and are often found in sPvP/tPvP.
But for the non-PRO player, adding a dodge mechanic for the pet will be an utter waste of time in dealing with the problem of Pets dying from AOE too much in dungeons —- the difference will be insignicant for the typical Ranger player who is under heavy duress from swarms of mobs, surrounded with heavy particle effects and trying to keep himself alive and contributing to the party.
Look, I’m not talking about that bottom 5 to 10% either, the folks that really have very poor reflexes and positional awareness, and who really can’t cope with the basic pace of this game. At least not in a difficult dungeon setting anyway. No, I’m referring to that big fat mass of players in the middle: also known as: the “majority” – the “average” – the “typical”.
For this group, many of the ideas being offered here will only result in the outcome stated by Shiren, “So micromanaging and resource management are the game-play being pushed by that kind of design. A lot of us play the class for the AI companion, not a micromanaged companion. Micromanaging, while increasing the skill cap (in a certain way), isn’t going to solve the problem for a lot of rangers, and for many players it takes the class in a direction they don’t want to go in.”
In essence many of the changes being proposed would transform the Ranger into a class that does not resemble the one that many people were looking for when they rolled it. Please keep this in mind as you consider the many OTHER options that exist to address pet mechanics and survivability.
Thank you.
We’re aware of that. Again part of what that list is, is a launching point for conversation and dialogue. Part of our jobs as designers is to take feedback and try to figure out the core of what is being said, and develop plans around that. I’m not saying those things are going to happen – I wish I could, but I can’t. It’s just something I can turn into a bullet point for us to address and talk about. These things take time, but I promise you I will be bringing these things up.
EDIT:
Oh, and in regards to the Jade Maw targeting pets, I made the conscious decision to allow it to target non-players. I have the ability to change that, but I prefer not to on the grounds that there is some gameplay there. My pet has made the ultimate sacrifice quite a few times while we res’d a down party members, providing groups with a much needed window to help others up and recover. I know it can be a bit frustrating if everything is going great and you’re not having any problems, but I’d much rather the pet provide a moment of relief for those struggling. I am open to debate on the subject, but that is for threads over in the dungeon forum, not here
DOUBLE EDIT:
Jade Maw should not target downed pets. We have a bug on it already and are aware of it.

Hi Zolash – This isn’t actually a technical issue but I’m glad to hear that you’re in contact with support. This error message indicates that there is an issue with either your username or your password.
Hello everyone.
Rest assured that the team is aware of this particular issue and working on it, assessing the situation thanks to all your reports. We would ask you for a little patience while the devs are on it.
We proceed now to close the thread, since there are already other threads that describe the lag and some latency issues.
One of the reasons why the Ranger and pet are built the way that they are, is because if we gave the ranger all the power, then the pet would have to be useless and vestigial, or everyone would claim rangers are OP. That’s one of the core reasons we can’t just increase pet attribute numbers. Without a method for avoiding damage, it also means your pet takes 4 hits in dungeons instead of only 2 or 3, so it doesn’t really solve the problem.
We have WvW reps in the balance meeting as well, so I’ll be sure to poke and prod them about ranger pets in zerg battles to get their opinions. Personally I tend to do well keeping a pet non-hostile until the zergs actually clash – then switching him to hostile and managing his target. Otherwise when I try to shoot some arrows at somebody, Cuddles the Black Widow decides it is time to charge into battle. I really don’t feel like this is a bad solution. While most people may resist it, if you want your pet to charge the front line and lead the attack, consider grabbing up the signet that makes your pet invulnerable for a few seconds.
@Swagg – that’s a lovely chart
Hello everyone.
We thank you for your input/feedback up to this point. However, threads created for the sake of complaining are not allowed as they do not invite to constructive discussion. Because of that we proceed to close this one.
If you have any suggestions you want to make, remember that we have a Suggestions subforum where your threads are very welcome. Thanks.
Hello Ic Dead Ppl.
We understand the concerns expressed here and we will forward them to the team today. However, the correct place for reporting such issues is the bug subforum and therefore, we will proceed to close this thread and encourage you to post there.
Thanks.
Hello Forrae.
We will forward this to the team today (you are also welcome to create your own suggestion thread in the Suggestion subforum). For the time being you can report harassment or other unhelpful attitudes to our Customer Support team via the ticketing system and with a screenshot. Thanks!
Hello Bcd.
There is already a bigger thread on this issue. Please, go and check it here. You can add your own thoughts and feedback about it there. We proceed to close this one in order to avoid duplicates.
Hello GameDevBrian.
Please, go and check our official Third-Party Programs policy, as it will give you an idea of our stances on the matter. I am also quoting from the original Gaile Gray´s post: In the future, we will be working directly with the community to develop app support for Guild Wars 2, so stay tuned for more info!".
Hello Msrmaw.
The team is committed since the very beginning to fight bots. The best thing players can do is continue to report every incident of suspected botting behavior they witness using the in-game reporting tools; or you can also send us your screenshot through the Customer Support ticketing system.
Thanks for the continued reports and your patience. It’s greatly appreciated!
Hello everyone.
Thanks for your contributions up to this point. However, this thread is not really inviting to a constructive discussion and therefore we proceed to delete it; please remember to be respectful to the other users, who may have a different opinion about an issue.
I won’t say “not efficient.” I think the better term is “not perfectly efficient.”
I’m using the term ‘efficient’ in strict accordance with the efficient market hypothesis – and under that definition, the GW2 market is not even weakly efficient.
We could say that one market is more or less efficient than another, but without a basis for comparison we really can’t say anything beyond ‘the market is inefficient’. This, granted, isn’t saying much of anything, since no markets that I know of are efficient (except the ones in simplified micro models!)
It certainly isn’t anywhere near getting involved in the (quite interesting) paradoxical perfectly inefficient market discussion.
It’s late so forgive me if I make any mistakes.
That is a very interesting argument. Here are my counter-points (abbreviating to EMH):
1. This is a big one, there are no efficient markets with EMH, the EMH doesn’t really hold up in reality. Ever seen the revenue a good high frequency trader makes, even in the most highly traded markets?
2. This virtual economy doesn’t work inside the same time frames as a standard financial market. It’s much more sensitive to forces like time and day than a standard market, it never closes and there are major shifts in population relative to those factors.
3. Game content changes extremely often (patches and such)
I actually have several more, but I don’t want this to be too lengthy.
We haven’t forgotten about this issue, even if it might seem like that. Most of the work for the fix has been done now. Though it probably won’t make it for the March patch.
Thanks for the reports; I’m sorry to hear that our last fix didn’t completely solve this. :/ We’ll take another look at this issue.
In the meantime, if you are blocked from completing the vista on your server, you may want to guest to one of the servers that has been noted as working if you need it for map/world completion.

In all seriousness, though, since Illconceived already recommended the two things I would think of, this sounds like a bug. We’ll check it out!
I’d love to see that awkward conversation playing out in real life.
“Um, sir. We know you’re the super-boss and all that, but you came from a different order, so you need to go find a different portal.” /trollface

There are two issues that I’ve addressed and handed off to QA.
1 – The krait witches in both this story step and Liberating Apatia recently got a new summon skill, which just doesn’t work well for this content, so I removed it from the story bosses
2 – Hywel is a non-combatant, but he was able to be killed by a special poison attack that was bypassing his status. I’ve fixed this so he won’t despawn if killed.
I can’t provide an ETA for when these fixes will go live, but they’re been fixed, and we’re currently testing the fixes. Thanks!

Lucifer is disallowed, as is Satan, Buddha, and Jesus. Clearly disallowed in the Naming Policy. The name — because it was a display name — was changed by a customer support agent. (We have not tool to allow a player to change a display name, even if it is censored.)
I’m sorry if you are unhappy, but I happen to think your new name is much more creative and cool than your old one. If you would like more information, please see this thread.

What we find in most of these cases is that someone typo’d the name of the recipient and someone else got the gold or items. You can file a ticket with Support, but I do not know that they will be able to help you with this.

Hey all,
I was going to edit the above post and then I thought this probably merited a separate post.
One of our community peeps has told me that people may have misinterpreted what I said previously and I wanted to clear this up. (Not that I was requested to do so, but just because I feel bad if someone thinks I said something I didn’t say. )
I did not say a date.
I did not indicate a month.
I did not suggest a build.
If we said this feature was “coming in the future” last fall — and we did — I simply wanted to indicate that it is indeed still coming and with the passing of months, it’s still on the list. Dates, timeframes, and build numbers may be someone’s speculation but they do not reflect my statement. Thanks for understanding!

Hi Niels – Have you tried repairing the client? I would recommend first deleting the local.dat file and then doing a repair if you haven’t already.
Yeah, it definitely sounds like an odd load timing issue, which would explain why we can’t reproduce it consistently.
1. The skill does not apply cripple as states in the Tooltip. (Since patch 1/3)
2. The skill is not affected by the trait Blade Training which is supposed to reduce CD of sword skills by 20%. The tooltip says 9.5s CD but it goes on 12s CD after use. (Since Release)
3. Pathing of the Illusion that Leaps acts bugged aswell when not using it on flat ground. It cannot make it on the ramps and over any small obstacles even If you’re in the line of sight and within range. (Since Release)
While we are aware of and working on number 1 & 2, number 3 is a technical limitation of our system and not a bug. Unfortunately, this is not something we can change as of this time.
Thank you for the reports! We hope to get these fixed in an upcoming patch.

This issue has a long and illustrious history…of being an elusive little bugger. We saw this happening back in the Beta events, but have never been able to consistently trigger (or fix) it.
Any additional information you have on what you were doing prior to seeing this would be appreciated. Thanks for the report!
