Can you tell us more about what you were doing before trying to enter the game?
What world are you on?
Were you doing anything like guesting or grouping up with someone from another world before entering (or anytime during your login session)?
Where were you trying enter WvW from?
What map were you trying to enter?
We know this is a thing that can happen, but we’re still trying to figure out why, so any details you can provide could be helpful!
you think? of course that is one of the problems, the other is people joining and seeing they are on a full pug and facing a full premade and quitting, or seeing they are on a 5v4 and quitting, making it 5v3. And since you don’t punish them what do they lose? the invisible rating they don’t care about? They log-off for 10 mins avoid a spawn camp stomping then log back in.
Learn from Rift, if you get DC’d their system gives you short amount of time to re-boot/log back in and puts you in the same warfront you were in. If you don’t log back in quickly it fills the spot with a new player and when that person eventually does log back in they have a 30-min deserter debuff and can’t queue for pvp. I’m guessing just another thing your system isn’t built to do.
If someone is constantly DC’ing due to crappy ISP or quitting without leaving their roster they should be punished and stick to hotjoin rather than making 4 people suffer a curb stomping 5v4 matchup.
The sad thing is this has been an issue basically since release and doesn’t sound like you have any fixes in the works. Like i said in another thread this is something Rift did a hotfix for shortly after release. And I only use Rift as an example because it was one of the more recently released mmos. pretty much every other mmo pvp also has quitter debuffs/penalties.
The two problems deserve different solutions. If a player is in queue for a bit, but needs to log off to do something else, that player shouldn’t be punished because they didn’t leave the roster first. This is a completely fixable problem. Punishing people who knowingly dodge is a much more difficult problem.
why is it so difficult yet every other game has a deserter penalty? If you log off once you have been put into a match you have 1-2 min to log back in, if not game fills spot with another solo queuer and the person that didn’t log back in quick enough gets a 30-minute quitter debuff and can’t join any pvp until it’s up. Rift does this, WoW does this, Warhammer did it, etc.
I don’t even bother playing this game anymore because as a solo queuer more of my matches are 5v4 than 5v5.
This is a very real problem, but we can only work on so many things at once. I would still place it at a lower priority than Custom Arenas.

So a Mega Dummy with 10x hp would be better?
Please add “Mega Dummy” as a title under its name if you do add it.
Why not just call it a “Evan’s Mega Dummy”?
That has a nice ring to it.

Happy to help! From what we’re seeing on the back-end, it looks like everybody should be in the clear. If you’re still stuck in a map, please post and let us know.
Thank you for your understanding, everyone!

I will pass the suggestion on to the design team.
We think one problem is that people join into a roster, then before the match is ready, quit the game. Disconnecting does not remove you from the roster, so the game starts and finishes like nothing happened. A lot of these 4v5 games could be completely unintentional from the person leaving. Solving this is a technical issue. We could kick you out of the roster if you disconnect, but you should still be able to switch characters before the match starts.
Will this be for solo que’s only? What happens if you dc not by choice and try to reconnect to your premade team only to find out they got thrown into a match with some random.
That’s a really good question. Rosters that were submit full could easily not be put into matchmaking. However if a partial roster queued, it would indeed be a problem. Maybe it should work more like Dota2, if the game can’t start with all 10 players, it doesn’t start at all. It could happen once the match countdown is done.

Ive often though this, testing conditions over time is hard because the dummies die fast…whereas a player would heal, have protection, etc etc. I dont know what the lions arch dummies are like but that sounds like a good idea if its simply infinite life dummies.
Yup, they never die.
Bra (80 Guard), Fixie Bow (80 Ranger), Wcharr (80 Ele)

All resets occur at 0:00 UTC. This includes dailies, monthlies and WvW match resets. This has been the case since launch.
Would something like the Lion’s Arch target dummies fill your needs?

Sorry about your situation, but as always, all resets occur at 0:00 UTC. This includes daily and monthly achievements and WvW match resets.
We’re definitely listening. I like these ideas a lot. Custom Arenas will still be used to fill the role of hot-join. They won’t all be password protected, and people who just want to jump into a game are still going to do that. We’re curious to see how the population shifts now that the tournament formats are changing.
when are you going to fix matches starting 5v4 or 5v3? Nobody on your team seems to want to respond to this major issue.

Is there a particular reason that you think the old chests didn’t get updated? I asked our PvP designer about this, and he clarified that there is no difference between “old” and “new” chests — they pull from the same loot table, so they should stack.
Also, as indicated in the patch notes, only gold and match win reward chests were given updated loot. I hope this helps clarify things!
After the update I traded all my tickets for Gold chests. All of them (~15) awarded Paid tokens on salvage and it was stuff like Kodan, Orrian, Drake etc. Then I went to open my Gold chests I was keeping in bank for a while and here I got ‘old’ items as stated before – it all awarded Free tokens on salvage.
Today I had 2 ‘old’ Gold chests on my character, won a 3-round tournament and so opened a total of 3 Gold chests. All of them awarded old items.
Thanks for the details! To clarify further, all the chests were given additional new items; it is still possible (and highly probable) to get the same loot that was available before the update. Based on what you’re saying, it sounds like the chests are working as intended; this isn’t a bug.
As this isn’t a bug, this thread will now be closed. If you have additional questions or feedback on this change, feel free to post in the PvP forum.

Want to add that i really enjoy the game, but there is so many currencies and i really feel that the fractaltokens are worthless atm
Well, I use mine for the infusion upgrades and the bags at the moment, when I get closer to actually work on my Legendary, I will probably go for the skill points, as other posters have pointed out.
This is me as a player and my opinion, yours might differ.
I’m sorry that you’re experiencing issues with the tournament system!
I’ve escalated this issue to our PvP Team and will update if there are any other steps you can try. Thank you for your patience!

You have two separate tourny ques at this moment. One for 3 round and one for 1 round. In a blog post you guys said that they had separate matchmaking. Paid tournaments previously demonstrated that you guys have the ’’feature’’ in place to force someone to be 5 premade players to que in to the match. You also now have a ‘’join solo’’ button.
If you piece these pieces together you get:
1.Make one tournament que ‘’join solo’’ only, 1 round
2. Make the other que ‘’submit roster’’ with 5 only , 1 roundLE VOILA!
It’s okay, we can scrap the idea of duoq for now. Put that in your ’’soon’’ basket. You can do the same for the random map generator, just keep rotating maps manually the way you guys do every 2 days or something.There. That is the solution that will allow solo players to play the game without getting stomped by teams.
So in this suggestion, people would only play as a team of 5 or by themselves. That would mean effectively disabling tournaments for people who want to play tournaments with a friend. Or two friends, or three friends, but don’t have a full team. I can’t imagine that would go over very well either.
Critickitten: You mention in your first paragraph that this is your opinion. I changed the thread title to reflect that (which you could have done in the first place yourself). The original thread title was sensationalist and broad to attract more views. I will change the title back to reflect that it is a personal opinion. If you change it once again, this thread will be locked and trashed.
The error code is consistent with a password issue of some sort. I encourage you to contact Support by filing a ticket through the “Ask a Question” tab on that linked page. Tyler, who could I reach out to in regards to Warrior changes?
Specifically utilities and builds that are not feasible in today’s PvP environment.
Ex. Banners.
The best thing is probably just to post in the warrior forums. Though for Banners specifically, we are already working to improve them.
We are planning to add more stat sets and appearance options that can be purchased with badges in the March update. We’re still working on the full list so I don’t want to dive into details yet, but it is something we’re working on.
We of course understand that solo players would prefer a separate queue from premade teams, and it isn’t off the table as a future improvement. The trade off here, besides the extra development time, is that high rated solo queuers would get a better experience (never facing premades), at the expense of all team queuers getting a worse experience (longer queue times)
The point is to have competitive matches. If you are so good that you beat every other solo group. Then yeah you should have at least a reasonable shot at beating the lower tier premades.
Culling is absolutely a fixable problem, and as Habib mentioned in his MMORPG interview, we are planning to completely remove it from the game in march.
Why is it taking so long? Well, I think the best way I can describe how we’ve had to approach this problem is that it’s almost like changing a flat tire on a car that’s still moving. That’s a really rough analogy, but hopefully it helps illustrate just how difficult this would be in terms that are easier for everyone to understand.
Something like the way players render is extremely core to the engine and any change to that sort of thing could cause all kinds of other issues throughout the game. There are a lot of really complex technical problems that we needed to solve, then make sure that our changes don’t actually cause any of those odd side effects.
That being said, we’re confident that been able to solve those problems on the technical side. We still have a bit more testing to do, but we’re not expecting any major issues to pop up at this point, so we’re really looking forward to flipping that switch and getting rid of culling for good!
We’ll have a blog post coming up sometime in the next month to go into more details about the culling fixes and what you can expect.
That’s a good answer, thank you Gaile.
As a matter of fact, considering my password was already unique before the implementation of your new rules, I was merely waiting for the day it will force me to change. It was forethought.
But if that’s actually been live for days and you have some sort of load-balancing to force different people at different times (because I played yesterday), then it’s fine, it’s a good solution and I am merely stroke by bad luck to have it just today.
Although I cannot say I am happy right now (I did 3 dungeons for… Nothing… Yay), let me take the opportunity to thank you and the teams for the very good game – else I wouldn’t have spent that much time on it. Yeah, pretty much stating the obvious.
Good day to you.
~ sigh ~ I’m sorry about that! The good news is that Support is answering really quickly, so I think you’ll be in very soon!

We use existing mechanics like player kills and event completions to award world XP, but it is an entirely new system with new pieces of data associated to it so unfortunately there’s no way to award retroactive progress.
EDIT: I should have mentioned that once this system is live, everyone will have access to both this new system and the existing achievement titles.
We will be keeping all the existing WvW achievement tracks and titles associated with them, along with the progress you have already obtained on those achievements. None of that stuff is going away, so you can still keep working on those original achievement tracks and titles (which are intended to be extremely rare and obtained over years of play).
Sorry I didn’t make that clearer in my original post, we will have a blog post coming out before the patch explaining this new system in greater detail!

Hi. I looked into this and I think the name block was appropriate. “Groin” prompts reports because it makes people uncomfortable and is against the Naming Policy. I freely admit it’s not the worst offensive I’ve seen
)
And while the name required action, your suspension should have been lifted. and that has happened now. You will still be required to rename, so choose wisely, but you’re good to go now as far as account access.
Thank you very much for looking into you have made mine and my partners day(am not pestering her now).
How do i change my characters names as i have a few with the same last name, i just don’t want to get a ban again.
I will ask an agent to review and flag the others, so you can rename in one feel swoop.

Hello, please remember not to post the names of possible bots. As a reminder, please read this post. Thank you.
Ratings were reset with the patch, when we split the ratings for 3 round and 1 round tournaments. So as people play more games they’ll start to settle again.
Hello everyone.
Please check the following thread about this issue. We close this one in order to avoid duplicates.
Thanks.
As an update on this, we’re still looking into the equipment that got fixed and then broken again. Thank you for the details!

All of the structure PvP maps have a fixed time of day. So some are always day and others are always night. This is why in some maps your weapon will glow, and in some it will not.
the thing is; the weapon was glowing in mists the other day but it doesn’t glow today so i wasn’t talking about the maps but thanks for the info..
I just looked into this, and found a minor bug with the way time was flagged in Heart of the Mists map. Time was being locked, but it locked to whatever time it was when the map first starts. So it would either be permanently daytime or permanently nighttime.
Again, I don’t think this is an account issue so much as something that our Technical Support team should review. I will move this thread to that forum.
