I’m having the same problem, using the shortcut trick of adding -assetsrv 62.154.232.187:80 to the target line isnt working either, it prevents the launcher from even downloading something.
People who vendor their rings are wasting profit. With just 1g per salvage I make good profit on average with matrices being at almost 40s.
Also you should get the ascended salvaging achievement done. I got 3x 20 ascended salvage charges and 1x 1 salvage charge for free (= merely 25 regular fractal relics) from the fractal reliquiary so far.
Weird, i didnt salvaged many rings, but when i did, i got only 1-2 stabilizing matrixes, thats like 40s/80s, not being able to make a profit out of it.
So, either i’m missing something, or players that arelady have their ascended jewelery all BiS will just have to continue selling the ascended rings they get from low level fractals to vendors, instead of having a more viable financial option to salvage them?
The problem continue, i do a downgrade to the drive recommended by NVIDIA and the black screen still happened.
None of Staff ARENA NET see my file to say that numbers on THEYRE SERVER.

Update: 64 bit client started to update, lets see what happens.
I was having the same problem a couple days ago, solved it by downloading MSI afterburner and underclocking my GPU by 50hz. Also i updated my SSD firmware, and my chipset drivers aswell.

Hi, i’ve been following dulfy’s guide to loot all the strongboxes on verdant brink and grab some sweet additional mastery points, but i noticed that some of the strongboxes are not giving me mastery points at all, only normal loot.

Those are the strongboxes that do not contain any mastery points at all, am i missing something here or did Anet reduced the amount of strongboxes that comes with an additional MP?

I’m a veteran player that came back to the game a few days ago to check out the new expansion features and maps, and once i stepped into verdant brinks, my head almost exploded.
Lots of icons that give me no idea about what they are identifying on the map, monsters on every inch of the map, making skipping almost impossible. This new mastery system that i dont have any idea on how it works…etc etc
Is there any HoT survival guide that i can use? Right now i’ m just zoning into the new area only to behavior like a headless chicken….
Am i the only one that gets annoyed by that opening/close animation when you use the map? i mean, 9 out of 10 of the last MMO that i’ve played had a real responsive world map, that opens imediately and closes imediately aswell.
Dunno if that wasnt already implemented due to map scripting or performance limitations (too many stuff to load on real time, querying for WP’s current availability, etc), but heres one feature to add on future patches
Took me about two years and 1000 hours played to finally make twilight here’s what i did:
ALL AC paths (~1.7g each)
P1, P2 COF (~1.3g each)
AC tokens = buy exotics (180 tokens each) → salvage for ectos and insignias → sell them on TP
CoF tokens = buy lvl 70 rare armor (30 tokens each) → salvage for ectos → sell on TP
You wont waste more than 2 hours of play in a day to do these things and it will give you some pretty nice gold (depending on your luck on the salvages) :P
Same here, strangely i’m only having the maassive FPS drop/stuttering in Divinity’s Reach o.o, even in LA or in orr temple events clusterfuc*** that doesnt happen, very strange.

There’s a lot of things the community will be displeased about from this feature patch thats for sure….but if sPvP/WvW isn’t the priority in this feature patch, there will be a kittenstorm lol…those 2 things have been soo neglected its not even funny anymore… sPvP/WvW is a lot of players endgame and it has rarely been touched, it needs a revamp more than anything PvE related
At least you dont have to deal with RNG when you wanna rank up in WvW or raid a keep/castle :P

Just wanted to pop here to say that Marjory’s VO when...she was in the ground, mourning the death of her beloved sister was just AWESOME, i could literally feel what was happening in her heart in that moment. Sumalee definitelly earned my thumbs up for that great voice acting
I would need to see the quotation but IIRC, it was not a definite statement of “we are putting in precursor crafting this year”. To their credit, ascended weapons might be part of that crafting scheme for all we know.
I don’t recall Precursor Crafting EVER being mentioned with any potential release time span (certainly NEVER “by the end of the year”). These kinds of post are how misinformation and claims of breaking promises get proliferated among players.
I don’t think it ever was supposed to come out this year.

On top of that, the way the game is currently designed, a sufficiently large group cannot even be dented by a smaller group. This leads to a lot of frustration.
Why frustation? Ever since the stone age of MMO’s if you werent able to dispatch a group of enemies by going toe to toe with them in a group of same number, you would call for help and then kill them by taking advantage of the upper hand in numbers that you have. Comaplaining/Getting frustrated with this kind of “issue” is the same as complaining/getting frustrated at the fact you cant choose wich item an npc in orr will drop for you.
Additionally, it is easier for people to feel that they have made a significant contribution and earned their reward, when they are part of a small group, rather than part of a much larger group.
50%/50% for this one, indeed its great when you and your 3-4 friends group up and manage to take/defend a tower all by yourselves. But considering the exp/karma/money reward for doing so is the same, its kinda pointless.
Finally, larger groups have a (mostly deserved) reputation of being mindless and skill-less, mostly winning fights by large numbers.
Well, i do rely most on zergs for some simple reasons: 1) I dont live in the US, and my latency to the game servers is over 300 or so, wich means i’ll always have the disvantage if i decide to fight someones that has an almost real-time response from the server. 2) My gear is kinda crappy and i’m not willing to spend money on it till i get my legendary, thus one more reason to rely on large groups to accomplish objectives.
3) Isnt what grouping together is supposed to do? try to overcome skill gaps between the players involved by outnumbering them?
Also let us not forget about the tons of undergeared/“underreallevelled” players out there that rely mostly on the large groups on WvW in order to be useful in some way :P
Could someone explain to me whats the big deal regarding zerging in a large scale war map? Because i’ve been trying really hard to understand whats the point in all of these complaints and still didnt found any sense..
Tons of middle age wars were won by…an army surrouding and zerging a castle/city afaik, not by splitting your army in groups of 5 and sending them to each city in the country. Napoleon invaded russia with an army of like 600k also and i’m almost sure he didnt splitted his army into a bazillion of groups.
If zerging isnt fair then lets fix thieves using guerilla tatics aswell, how dare they strike our supply caravans in a blink of an eye to make our keeps and towers suffer supply starvation!!
Just two small examples that complaining about war tatics in a war environment is just…pointless

I tried both for mine. Cost me 1.6million, whilst others cleared it with 500k karma. In all honesty, after been karma drained by Mr MF I believe the 10x is better. Although, RNG luck has a massive effect. Different people will have a massively different experience. They are both 30% chance.
Sad, i was hoping to get the 77 clovers with this single full recipe pack but many people including my friends have told me that minimal is the number of persons that got lucky and obtained them right off the bat =/ (some expending even less than 500k karma)

I just completed a “full recipe pack” for the clovers (250 ectos, 250 obs shards, etc etc) and i was wondering wich recipe i should try. The 10x one seems like a russian roullete to me, if you get lucky you can get the job done in 8 tries and will still have plenty of mats left. The 1x one sounds more safe but kind of painful if you get a bad craft result streak

Yeah, as Yamagawa said up there, memory allocation bugs are hard to snatch and isolate, but having to wait for over 4 months to see such annoying bug fixed…yeah, kinda pisses me off too, isn’t about time for Anet to contact the Fmod devs in order to get more info on what they can do to fix it? or at least turnaround it… Or peraphs change the sub-system entirely for another one, but this seems unlikely to happen since no other audio library has the same or near wide-range of compatibility Fmod has with the Operational Systems out there.
The pulsating sound is the fmod audio subsystem telling the user it is out of memory:
“When the FMOD mixer thread does an allocation and it fails, it is almost impossible to recover from this gracefully (because of the threaded nature of the system, there is no function to return an error from), and sounds would start to drop out. Because we think this is fatal, and leads to subtle or not so subtle audio bugs – the mixer now emits a pulsating sine wave noise to tell you it is out of memory.”

The legendary run is driving away a ton of players from the game, including 3 of my friends that said they’re going to pandas since there legendaries requires both personal and group effort and not this bullkitten asian RNG thing.

Two weeks ago I got a dusk with using about 40 rares into the mystic forge. Today I decided to sell it for 360 g which left me with 320g. I tried over 200 exotics and did not receive another dusk/dawn. 320g down the drain. Well played arena net, well played.
This would be insta quit for me.

Well, considering naegling and many other weapons have their own recipes, i wont be surprised if we find out that theres already precursors recipes out there while we’re here asking Anet to add one, lol.

A good example for Dusk:
Gift of Dusk – Karma (one for each precursor to make the recipe unique)
E. Scroll – Skill points
100 Mystic Coins – rewards for completing achievements
250 Ectos – luck from salvaging
I had a similar idea (using another one that was on a deleted thread):
Dusk = Hilt of Dusk + Blade of Dusk + 50 Globs of Ectoplasm + Gift of Dusk
Hilt of Dusk = 50 Orichalcum Greatsword Hilts + 50 Mystic Coins + Gift of Balthazar + 50 Crystals
Blade of Dusk = 50 Orichalcum Greatsword Blades + 50 Mystic Coins + Gift of Balthazar + 50 Crystals
Gift of Balthazar = Purchased at the temple of balthazar for 50k Karma, the point here is to make different gifts for reach legendary precursor, so we’ll have gift of balthazar, dwayna, etc.
Gift of Dusk = 20 Onyx Lodestones + Gift of Zhaitan + Gift of the Nobleman + 1 Eldrich Scroll.
x20 Onyx Lodestones = 80s x 20 = 16g
x1 Eldrich Scroll = 50 SP
100 Crystals = 60 SP
100 Mystic Coins = Not sure, cant log in now to see their price on TP, last time they were 2s, so 2g.
50 Orichalcum Greatsword Hilt = 3 Orichalcum Ingots/Hilt = 150 orichalcum ingots = 150 × 7s (not sure) = 10,5g
50 Orichalcum Greatsword Blade = 3 Orichalcum Ingots/Blade = 150 orichalcum ingots = 150 × 7s (not sure) = 10,5g
50 Globs of Ectoplasm = ~9g
2x Gift of “GodName” = 100k Karma
Total Cost: Time spent mastering different dungeons, 100k Karma, ~49g, 110 SP.
Pretty fair price, will improve your knowledge on other dungeons in the game, and will kitten you even more with karma farming

Personally I don’t care if people get super rich from luck, hell I don’t even care that much if it’s exploits as long as it doesn’t completely destroy the economy.
I only care if a certain aspect of PvE is locked out from me for years because i’m not and never will be among the 1% richest players. That’s exactly what I hoped to get away from when I started playing GW2.
The rich players will be able to make the legendary 10 times faster than I do. By the time I make one nobody will even care, I just want it for my personal sense of achievement.
And now you’re telling me I don’t get to have it because I’m trying to obtain it at my own pace? And you’re calling me entitled?
The line between having or not having the legendary should be whether you’re willing to put in the time and effort not whether or not you’re among the richest players in the world.
I do agree with you except by the part of “when i make mine no one will GaF about it” i loved the skin, i dont care if people will look at me and say “wow, you got yours NOW? srsly”, i want to log into my account just to see that freaking awesome sword in my back, i will never do a single normal step again, i want to move in the word just by spamming my 3rd greatsword skill (the warrior one, forgot the name) just to see the AMAZING effect it produces in the skill.

Anet, would be too much to ask you to AT LEAST bring this issue/suggestion to your tables?

Please add more ways to get the precursor weapons. I dont care if they are redicilous expensive recipes or a million of karma or anything. But mystic forge is too much about luck (unless there is a 100% recipe noone found yet). You could go through hundreths of tries and not get one, while someone else gets lucky and finds precursor on first try.
About buying them on the trading post: Although I believe I have good money making methods, without using trading or exploiting or goldsellers of course, the prices on the trading post raise much faster than I can make money. Dawn of Rage for example went up over 50g over the last couple of days.
Also I dont see why I should be forced to reward some lucky guy with 150+g.
This. I though Anet had learned from “that game” that you can make an extremely hard to obtain gear and still make the entire process very fun without a RNG factor involved.
