I’m wondering how long until he/she gets an infraction for saying something negative about the game..

As stated it’s likely your firewall blocking ports required for GW2 to run.

Whatever Antivirus or firewall solution you have – you should temporarily disable it while GW2 is completely closed then try opening GW2 again.

If it starts to work then it is a firewall issue so you need to go to the company site ie AVG and start looking into opening ports. Or look into ‘learning mode.’

Note: Learning Mode should be disabled after a successful launch of the game as it’s dangerous keeping it running.

What does ping have to do with a good connect? That doesn’t make sense.

It shocks me how misinformed the public is about security.. I’m in IT Sec.

1. Free software is garbage.. it’s free! What do you expect? ESET is the best and it’s not Kremlin / FSB coded like Kaspersky. (literally)

2. It’s possible that your computer is infected or like the others have said, a false flag.

Solution:

1. Go into AVG settings to disable auto-uninstall of unwanted applications. It should allow You to decide what gets uninstalled.. or put it in sandbox.

2. Download ESET Online Scanner. It’s free and very good. It’s able to detect malware that even ESET full suite isn’t able to do to it’s online scanner capabilities.. run a full scan.

Tips:

• If you can afford it, go with ESET.
• Always allow programs to go into sandbox mode before being uninstalled, most AV’s have this option.
• Understand that even if the AV says your computer is clean, it can still be highly infected which is why online scanners and rootkit check tools are good.
• Don’t install random things from online. Every free game from TPB for example is infected.. and it’s one reason why AV’s always show ‘trojan’ and why every game always says it’s a false flag… those sort of things can infect other programs / games.
• Team Speak is easily exploitable so a neighborhood kid can use that to hack your system very easily.

A Guardian can handle absolutely everything in game.. even PVP.

In Plains of Ashford for champs ?

If you’re at level 40 I’d do this:

1. Story (as high as you can get)

2. WvW

3. Farm Nodes

4. World Bosses

5. Dungeons

If you mix those up, it’s not so much of a grind and it’s fast.

I’d farm (2g per 30 minutes) while waiting for dungeons. Grab some World Bosses, another way to get some monies while getting XP. And WvW when your server is peaking during the day in regards to taking forts or whatever.

And XP boosters obviously help a lot.. just be sure to use then when you know for a fact you’re getting lots of steady XP ie farming.

Guardian since Beta..

I prefer Warrior but Guardian also does everything I want it to..

Farming nodes for example, I have a constant speed boost which is good for roaming solo in WvW as well.

PVE is easy.. I’m sure you’ve seen guardians take on a lot of damage and still stay alive. It’s obviously a very melee class with the flexibility of ranged with the very slow scepter.

PVP is meh with Guardian.. maybe it’s me but I find arenas better with other classes.

I would absolutely pick a Guardian over an Engineer unless you like constantly dropping stuff.. I guess Guardian requires less interaction in that regard too.

As others have stated, you should really check your stats and play style.

For example see if other weapons work better, different stats, utilities, etc.

I assure you, all of those people in game with the title are not hardcore players.. they vested enough time into changing their styles and what not until they got it.

That is why they are called ‘LEGENDARY’ – they should be hard to get.

And I think I said as much in my post. But you don’t want something to be so hard and take so long that you lose interest in the game trying to get there.

AHH – try in get the gear in Rift in RIAD lvl dungeons – on average it took 150 runs (4 bosses took 4-6 hours to do) to get all the armor so you can go to the next dungeon – which was the same amount of time. That is just as bad.

Legendaries are supposed to he HARD to get and that is why they are an account achievement. If you want it, you do the work.

I guess you haven’t gone to college – that was boring and a lot of work – did you quit there too? Just asking……

OneLouder wasn’t asking for ANet to just hand out Legendaries to whomever asks for one.

OneLouder was just wanting the effort to make one to not be so high that it turns people off of the game after making one due to burn out. And was of the opinion that it currently is too high in their opinion.

I think legendaries shouldn’t be sold but in regards to ‘burn-out’ – that’s most MMO’s.

I simply am not impressed by any legendary in game – they’re everywhere with the same exact skins.. and so I just don’t bother.

Anet is NOT making anyone get a legendary nor are they making it where players are unable to play certain content without it.

Anet cut every way for casual players to make a good amount of gold from holidays that were harshly cut to farming.

This is by design, not that it just happens to go that way. They want you to spend a lot of money on gems. Just $25 here, $25 there..

This is why I don’t suggest GW2 to anyone – ever.

I don’t have artificer leveled so I’d have to do that but willing to do so if it’s the way to go.. the only other option seems to the the mystic forge which looks expensive.

I also don’t want to go the cheap route to only have to make the more expensive one a month down the road.

What do you think is the best way to get Agony?

Do we get 60 shards per path per day on each toon or account?

No reason other than never running out and not taking any inventory space. Oh and if you run a necro it can look cool. It’s entirely a convenience item.

Plus it’s $12.50. Never, ever try to equate the cost of on item in the Gem Shop to gold based on whatever the current exchange rate is because ANet doesn’t when pricing it.

It’s not like $12.50 is a lot of money to anyone – rather that spending $12.50 on a virtual mining pick in a game with no added stats ie magic find seems totally wasteful.

Without touching a calculator I can’t wrap my mind around how much farming someone would need to do for the Bone Pick to be worth it.

I realize this doesn’t help your situation and I wish you the best, but for me I will likely never go through the whole legendary ordeal.

I can afford ascended gear, Feathers of Dwayna, maybe Foefire’s Power, Light of Dwayna, Fused Longbow and still have money left over.

I like to gear up all my toons.. so for me legendaries are overkill and they’re so common that they truly don’t have any impressive appeal – to me at least.

Foefire’s Power for example. I get people whisper me and compliment my hammer.. on JQ I haven’t seen another one in nearly a month. A legendary on the other hand.. they’re everywhere.

Arah armor hasn’t been prestigious for a long while now. It’s just a skin. Hell, you can even get it in pvp.

That’s my point lol. At least before if you obtained it in PVP, you couldn’t wear it outside the area.

I recently started playing again and now people are selling paths.. and for cheap which makes all of that difficult – time consuming gear incredibly easy for anyone to get.

In fact it’s much cheaper to get Arah gear from the dungeon vendor than on TP assuming you do paths 1,2,3 once a day only.

Pay 4g to the party, wait about 30 seconds, get 60 dungeon tokens and 3 gold back. So 3g total for lets say boots or gloves while zerker gear on TP is 14g.

I don’t mind players finding ways to get gold, that’s great. The sad part is wearing that gear is cheap.. it’s not something that takes a long time for people to obtain like virtually everything in game.

Just have 1 set of really hard armor that gold cant buy that can only be obtained by skilled, hard working dungeon players.

Again, I just started playing again since Christmas.. maybe I’m missing something, but to me it seems like gear just got even easier.. even a newbie lvl 80 who just bought GW2 2 weeks ago can now wear the same gear that I wear – someone who’s played since Beta.

As others have stated, the new Crown Pavilion is a joke. Why would people play hours on end when there’s little reward?

I can get a lot more gold with wvw or even low level dungeons than I can with this.

Last year was fun because of the loot – even when they nerfed it because at least it was barely worth playing.

Even the tokens seem to be a lot less than Four Winds events!

Anet has to have a strong idea of the outcome when they design these events – they’ve been in business for nearly a decade now yet they still manage to really mess things up.

I’d advise you ask in map trade @ LA. The going rate is 60s on JQ and I assume a bit more on a smaller server (supply / demand) until the TP is fixed.

LFG tool, dont need to guest, Just make a post, EVEN if there is NO POST on there, Because you made a POST you will get PLAYERS into your party EASILY

I do fractals everyday, level 1-49 so its not always high levels, I play at night and early morning and I can tell you, Ive never waited more than 5min for any party when “I POST on LFG”.

Use the LFG tool, its very useful, and I mean use as in you make post too.

With the fractal updates coming out, don’t bother just yet until we figure out exactly what anet is changing with agony infusions.

Also those infusions are near worthless for the price they require. Just get normal +5 agony if you need it but again wait until Tuesday when the Fractals patch comes out.

What they posted didn’t state any changes to the infusions themselves but the actual slot and the fact that there will be a special slot just for agony itself – which will drop in fractals. It didn’t say this was going to effect any current infusions bought from vendors unless I missed something.

I do like the idea of the game “remembering” your last status and defaulting to that.

Depends. If people have ‘game messages’ enabled then it tells them in chat [character name] is online, as soon as they login and before they click on invisible. It also tells them when they log out, even if they are invisible. In addition they can see on the friends list what map they are on, even when invisible, as that will update whenever they change maps.

That’s exactly my point is regardless of how fast you are – people can know.

I’m looking for what I should go for my Guardian in fractals Malign, Mighty, or Precise.

I don’t have a lot of gold for everything to be infused so would it be better to increase normal stats or get +5 Agony resistance?

Sometimes I like to simply log in without being hit up with conversation. It’s hard to appear offline when you first have to log in as visible so I think having the status selection available prior to character to load would solve this.

Alternative would be for whatever previous status you selected last time to stick next log aka stateful.

I keep running fractals ankitten ot getting any drops.. I keep hearing how after level 10 there should be rings dropped yet nothing so I think I’m just going to buy them from vendors.

I’m bouncing around builds but basically need accessories and rings that are a little tanky but not overboard…

Should I go all Berserker’s stats or more Soldier?
