maybe i should quantify my claim.
i play a shout healing condi warrior with a warhorn.
every longbow ranger i’ve fought in spvp didn’t seem to have very good condi clear so i eat them for lunch with massive bleed stacks. ranged weakness also really takes the bite out of their rapid fire.
so yeah. in my experience condi warrior completely eats longbow ranger for lunch.
You know who counters rangers, Warriors.
I had a lovely evening making yesterday making a few rangers eat dirt like I was a school yard bully.

the warhorn has actually seen a lot of change.
they lowered the cooldown on the number 4 skill by 5 seconds in a stealth patch during season one. then later they changed it so that it only converts 1 condition instead of 2 when it’s traited.
the warhorn is honestly very strong in Spvp and WvW. but it’s strong in a sneakier none giant red number kind of way.
the rifle is underpowered and needs some serious changes. the entire weapon is clunky and unresponsive, the burst skill is trash and the volley skill needs to be sped up so it actually matches it’s tool tip.

Also the female charr voice acted is my favorite voice actor, if that matters to you when you play.

so to recap
- do Crucible of Eternity (CoE) everyday.
- Dwayne temple and Lyssa Temple events for a chance at cores and lodestones in the chests
- farm the dust mites in drytop because they have a higher chance of dropping cores and lodestones (higher then temple of Lyssa mobs)
- the lightning mobs at temple of Lyssa have a chance of dropping cores.
- do dungeon runs to farm up gold to buy them.
i’m talking about mushy love stories of course.
come on Marjory, get it in gear. isn’t there a progeny that Taimi could have a crush on or something. maybe some beautiful Norn warrior could show up and win Brahams heart, only to dash it across the rocks like Rytlock does tact. this could lead to a bro moment between Braham and Rox as she also tactlessly crushes his feelings (or just gives him really bad advice).
I thin fixing the turret so it can actually deal damage is the least of the changes it needs.
The turret needs much better range. The 2500 – 3000 range at least.
I don’t like how the rangers arrows travel faster then the rifles bullets.
Or how the rangers arrows seem to be heat seeking
More then once I’ve seen the arrow fly next to my character and still hit me.
I would like some truly barbaric armor sets. Or some armors that show off my warriors upper arms.
I’ve got a suggestion for killshot.
they wanted killshot to be a powerful long range move to finish off fleeing enemies, so lets focus on turning that into its strength.
Killshot -cast time 1 sec – aim a quick shot that deals more damage the greater your adrenaline. Does 50% more damage if hitting from behind. 1500 range.
cast time reduction is so you actually have a chance to hit them before they go out of range. Backstab mechanic so it will actually kill fleeing enemies. Granted you may need to tweak base numbers a bit so it doesnt become two overpowered.
also the aftercasts or the precasts on the rifle need adjusting, it feels clunky to me still. The axe, sword, hammer, greatsword all feel great but the rifle feels stiff and unresponsive.
The rifle skill volley needs work. It says a cast time of 2 3/4 of a second. I count closer to 3 1/2 seconds.
lastly I feel like the rifle projectile velocity needs to be increased. The trade off on the rifle and bow is that the bow can actually shoot a little further then its listed range. It can also arc over cover a bit. The rifle however stops like it hit an invisible wall at 1200 and shoots straight so it cant be used to fire over cover. Its only advantage is it is much faster. With recent changes both to the ranger and globally this advantage has largely disappeared.
I’m usually not down with demanding that the developers do something but on this point the forums are totally on the money.
there is no reason that the greatsword 5 skill should be as buggy as it is for as long as it has been.
if arena net programmers can fix most of the lag in WvW (and if you dont remember it before the fix then let me tel you it was bad), and if arena net programmers can bust out the holloween clock tower in as fast as they did then surely some of those talented individuals can be lured into taking a look at a few buggy skills.
One thing to keep in mind is you don’t have to go sword sword. Sword horn and sword shield are great alternatives that each have their own advantages.
0/2/4/4/4 (could also go 0/3/4/4/3) is a great set up with the advantage of both weapon sets being able to clear conditions and having much more team support in the form of condi clear, aoe weakness, vigor, speed and an extra blast finisher.
Another big thing about condi warrior. Sigil of geomancy and sigil of doom. I put them on my melee set so when they close on you all you need to do is weapon swap and you can rock and roll on the conditions before you’ve even taken a swing. If you are playing warrior right then you’ll find yourself almost using your weapon swap on cooldown.
Militia maybe. There is a heart in queensdale where you train with a militia. Maybe a heavy armor martial class that specializes in hit and run tactics. Although in my mind how I picture it its nothing more then thief and engineer turned into one class.
How about lionguard. Imagine if you gave warriors a bag of thief tricks so they could fight super dirty, mixed in with some engineer flair. So one utility would have you chug a hero’s elixir, or use a smoke bomb, toss a Molotov, or maybe use shouts in a police like way.

That’s one of the reasons I prefer weapon swap sigils to on crit sigils.
Less RNG and a lot more control on the timing. With classes like the engineer, elementalist and warrior able to change weapons often I feel like the on swap is just better design.
I think its too early to call it quits on ranger. The buffs it recieved are nice, but the pets still need work and it needs options for none glass cannon power builds.
When anet finally opens up more weapons for more classes I want a melee class like the warrior to get a focus.
Because I want to see someone get bard slapped, or see them chuck the harp like an angry orchestra conductor.
For those having trouble with wvw map completion, it used to be a gentlemen’s agreement that if you used the quaggen tonic when you where running around then people would leave you alone.
I don’t know if people still honor that or not, I still do.
I think one of the best things they could do to fix the ranger, make it more fun and open up build diversity is to give the ranger class its own version of fast hands.
Make martial mastery take off 2-3 seconds on the weapon swap. If you use rune of the warrior you basically have fast hands. If not its still a really good trait.
Rangers could be more flexible in combat for both damage types and it would make ranger more fun to play. It would also help ranger survivability by giving them more access to weapon skills they need to survive.
I was thinking adrenaline on weakness application. So if you ran mace/warhorn you could use call to arms to help fuel your skullcrack.
And so a single auto chain could give you most of a bar of adrenaline.
+5% damage against weakened foes is pretty bland. If the trait was +10% I could see taking it but honestly traits that only increase damage by a percentage are boring.
- whenever you apply weakness you gain a stack of might
- weakened targets gain an additional 2 stacks of vulnerability
- applying weakness deals bonus damage
- gain 3 strikes of adrenaline whenever you weaken a for
Any one of those ideas would be a fun improvement on what is honestly a bland trait in a valuable trait line.
So wait, you are upset when the ranger offers himself up on the giant torch like a human sacrifice.
Pretend the ranger is in a field vulnerable on all sides and for whatever reason immune to melee. If he dodges he will knock himself down. So now you know that while he is up there he won’t dodge.
Your team hopefully has ranged as well, he’s a glass cannon build sitting at a massively contested point and you can be sure that he probably won’t dodge and knock himself off.
I usually play a warrior so I just hit them with combustion shot and let the problem sort itself out.
People are arguing that playing glass ranger isn’t some low risk high reward play style.
Most classes have some form of teleporting, those that don’t have leaps. The only class that should have trouble closing the distance on a ranger is a necro.
I know it may feel bad for a ranger (pretty much agreed to be a bottom tier class) to pew pew you to death. But is it really so hard to admit that the ranger out positioned you?

I dont care what they have to do to our skills so long as they are usable. Make rush and bulls charge cleave, make them leaps, make them teleports, make them make you break dance fight.

Sacrifice a little offensive power for massive team support and aoe condition removal. And it might stacks.
I for one hope they keep the skill exactly the way it is now. Im a warrior main and I believe that my little ranger brother deserves to have a few nice things.
I would even go so far as to say that power ranger could probably use one or two buffs in other different areas still.

The adrenaline when hit really should be baseline.
seriously, this needs to happen. It would open up more build diversity and compensate warrior a little bit for the double hit to our adrenaline skill.
Just got a great idea for a weapon swap sigil
sigil of transmutation – Next attack transmutes an enemies boon into a corresponding condition.
Im afraid its true. Ranger is worse with a sword then any other proffession is with anything. I blame the first ranger.
Condi warrior is pretty fun. All you have are burning bleed and depending on your sigils poison. In exchange you get huge uptime on all of them.
Hit someone with 10 stacks of bleed, burning and poison instantly and watch their health bar drop.
I could get behind reveal having a visual cue. Maybe a white aura that encompasses them as a highlight that this target is revealed.
People are complaining because
1. A lack of clarity on just what arena net wants this class to become and how its getting there.
2. A lack of discussion and feedback on the changes arena net is making to the game.
3. A lack of proper balance patches to the game.
4. Arena nets hamhanded approach to content changes
5. Arena nets seeming lack of content oversight and quality assurance.
I think thats part of what upset so many people about this patch (other than being lied to about arching slice), if you are going to make a very large change to a classes core mechanic, let alone two changes then you need to also adjust the traits and skills tied to that mechanic.
In every part of the game, including the forums, warrior is the whipping boy. Its the way the class is ment to be played. No access to protection, blind, teleports, invisibility or true invulnerability. We also cant cast multible damaging abilities at once. So to compensate our abilities hit hard.
After spending 2 years rolling back our damage, making our burst skills less impressive, they whip out this change and if arena net remains true to form we wont see any improvement for another 6 months. Its like they have one person working on the balance team and no quality assurance.

I really wish arena net would start a one nerf at a time policy.
Nerf the greatsword 3 times, adrenaline twice, off hand long sword, and signet of rage.
if they want to do a major change like the adrenaline change then that is up to them. But whatever happened to their policy of “shaving” changes. Someone at arena net isnt fully human bacause i dont know anyone who shaves with a rusty chainsaw.
Aegis on shield 4 would be better then protection for every aspect of the game (WvW, PvE, PvP) the protection lasts for in insanely small amount of time in PvP so for it to be useful you have to use it the instant someone is about to be hit.
With aegis you are guaranteed to block one attack. This will severely reduce the burst your allies may take or mess up an enemy trying to set up a burst. Something 2-3 seconds of protection just won’t do.
Lastly aegis will synergize with guardian traits that prock off of aegis. Might, burning, damage, retaliation, healing.
Since arena net seems to be well known for shaving balance patches using a 10 pound splitting Axe then the adrenaline and arching slice nerfs might just work in our favor.
Yup, in just 6 short months you can look forward to some buffs to help even out these changes.
I would say submit this to the bug report forum section. Devs don’t really visit profession section.
Also don’t hold your breath for an explanation. From all I’ve seen they aren’t very good at communication.

Savage leap. Its great for getting around, low cooldown, helps a lot in jump puzzles, and when waiting around for guildies its fun to use it to get to difficult to reach places. Like on top of flag poles.
Vigil chestpiece HotW everything else. Make the cloth bits sapphire and the metal bits fog.
or go primeval chest chestpiece for a more unique look. It will look great on you sylvary guard.
Also you should try to match the cloth parts to your hair if you dont like sapphire
